Blog #18 - The Current Changes at LucasForums
InSidious commented on Sith Holocron's blog entry in Sith Holocron's Blog
The changes are in large part happening because for the last 6 years or so, there has ( a ) been a sharp decline of use of individual sections of LF, and ( b ) a fairly regular crop of threads complaining that LF is dying. One of the reasons for this sense of emptiness has been the sheer number of forums for different games, each of which has a general forum, a modding forum, a debate forum, etc., each with perhaps only 2-3 members using them (or slightly more, in the case of Ahto, but still not a huge number). It was largely redundant, and with the role of forums like LF as places for specific games has largely died off in favour of platforms like reddit, and with the death of LA, the time was ripe to close down redundant sections and concentrate the remaining member base in a place where they can and hopefully will actually interact with one another. When it comes to nothing being explained, the explanation is right there on page one of this thread - a thread you yourself have posted in. This has been floated before as an idea a couple of times, and that thread dates to well before this process began giving an outline of what was planned. To be frank, it seems to me that if you had objections that was the time to make them known, not now that the process has already been started. If you don't know who Lynk is, he's been around for long enough at LF, and has been fairly active in Ahto since at least 2010. I don't know how you can have missed him, really. From what I recall he was involved in introducing badges and setting up the TOR subsite. I'm sorry, I don't get the issue here. Oh, and speaking as another person who arrived on LF in the mid 2000s, we really aren't long-term users. There are people there who have been members since 1999. We're latecomers to the party by a long chalk, IMO. -
File Name: Thinner HUD Elements File Submitter: InSidious File Submitted: 10 Nov 2015 File Category: Mods TSLRCM Compatible: Yes This mod makes some of the HUD elements thinner, and a bit less chunky. The part items and powers menus have had the sides of each section cut out, and the up and down arrows made narrower. The 'hostile' powers and items menu, which appears above enemies, has also been thinned out in the same way. The combat action queue has been slightly streamlined. The combat reticle which apears over the currently-targeted enemy has been replaced. The party's health and force power bars have also been thinned. N.B.: This mod has only been tested at 1280x768 resolution on the PC. It does not replace the Xbox versions of the UI, and may not work at lower resolutions. Installation Just drop the files into your Override folder. Uninstallation Take them out again. Click here to download this file

Those look great, SH. Would the logo look better with a bottom line, I wonder? It's OK without for the KotOR I version, IMO, but something just looks slighlty off to me about the TSL one, and I think it has to do with the lines under the words. ETA: Jorak, I know it's not quite following your TOR inspiration, but as a suggestion for a different tack, why not try doing something animated, maybe based on the Mass Effect 2 loading screens? e.g.: Just a thought. More practically, one simple alteration that could be made to the K1 loading screen would be to overlay a grid on the loading bar. I'm not sure how much .gui editing that would require, but it might help to freshen up the look of the thing.

Changes in v1.3: -Corrected issue which prevented one person from spawning; -Added two more people; -Added a Nutrimatic Drinks Dispenser -Added a way to get to the area without warping. You say what you say because you're hunting Hassatses. As for hh01, that's just a naming convention I used for all the .utc's in the cutscene. Nothing to worry about. VP was meant to be respawned, but there was a bug with it. Fixed now, though. Is that a good or a bad thing? Thanks, Rece! It's nothing personal. I just didn't think to add you. If I keep updating this, I'll add you if/when I get to know you better. Or if you want to suggest an appearance and some dialogue, I'll be happy to discuss that. Thanks, Q! Thanks! Added in v1.3. You can get there from the broken terminal on the crashed spaceship on Dxun. Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I'm glad people are enjoying it.

The Deadly Stream View File Description Just a little joke mod, made in imitation of the old Holowan Spire that Doom_Dealer made. On this one you can meet and interact with a few of the regulars on the DS forums. If it proves popular, I may expand it later on. Please don't be upset if I didn't include you. This is a joke mod, and it's meant in a spirit of fun. Installation Put 'deadlystream.mod' into your Modules folder. Do *NOT* put it in the Override. To get there in game, type "warp deadlystream" into the console and hit return. Uninstallation Remove the file again. Permissions You may not upload new versions of this mod without my permission. You may not upload this mod to other websites without my permission. You may not claim to be the author of this mod. Credits & Thanks Thanks to: - Hassat Hunter for spotting the bug in v1.0; - Doom_Dealer for the original Holowan Spire; - Fair Stride for help bugfixing, and for letting me bounce ideas off him; - DeadlyStream.com for being such a fun, nice place. InSidious replied to Jorak Uln's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Is that an actual black texture, or some bad lightmapping? -
Specific Questions about the Latest KotOR II Update
InSidious replied to milestails's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
The .gui files I would imagine contain modified versions of the GUI for use with the new widescreen settings. -

That sounds like a placeables.2da error, and a conflict/install order issue with another mod which uses that file. Incidentally, a patch is coming for that mod, so if anyone has come across errors/issues with it, please let me know soon.

File Name: Flash G0T0 File Submitter: InSidious File Submitted: 08 Aug 2015 File Category: Skins TSLRCM Compatible: Yes Description "We are going to empty your mind as you would empty your pockets..." I suddenly remembered a texture I made in about 2006 for a joke, which retextured G0T0 to resemble a character out of the film "Flash Gordon". So here it is.Enjoy, but remember that you only have thirteen hours to save the galaxy... Installation Just drop the files "P_Gt.tga" and "P_Gt.txi" into your Override folder. Uninstallation Take them out again. Incompatibilities None that I can think of. The user's sense of taste, maybe? Legal Disclaimer All materials and copyrights belong to LucasArts, Bioware and Obsidian Entertainment Inc., I own none of the materials, and I'm not making any money out of this mod. It is to be distributed as-is without alteration, unless by permission of the mod author. This mod is not to be distributed for profit, either. This mod is not to be uploaded to any site or public file-sharing or mod distrubtion service without the expressed permission of the author. Credits and Thanks -Fred Tetra for the truly awesome KotOR tool and his nwnsscomp conversion; -Holowan Labs for remaining by far the best place to work on KotOR mods on the internet; -Obsidian, Bioware, and LucasArts, for making both KotOR games. There's a good argument that he's meant to be a bit weak against the Exile... -

I've already let him know. He's fine with it provided he's credited properly as author. If you want to contact him about anything else though, you can reach him via pm at lucasforums. -

Well, I for one am heartbroken. I'm going to go and bathe my temples in eau de cologne. It's all so overwhelming... -

InSidious replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Plus, 98% of the time, what people want or are going to upload is not BillyBob9000's "PFHC03 With Slightly Bluer Eyes", or darth_malak_43v4's "Red And Black Sith Robes"; it's things like the Coruscant Jedi Temple by deathdisco, which are already mirrored. We've already been through this palaver once with PCGameMods, the mods I most recall being uploaded illicitly to KotORFiles from that site was ORD Mandell by RedHawke (which is available, by the way, from here), DeadMan's Movie Mandalorians (easily acquired by email), and AVol's Darth Vader, which plenty of people are (still!) able to share. This talk about obscure and rare mods is, I'm afraid, a distraction at best.
