If you're wondering about this, I just wanted to let you know that I'm wondering about it too! Why haven't they been updated so these mods can come back to this site?

Hey guys! So, I have been away from the community for a while, and I feel kinda guilty about it. But, at the risk of going a little bit into my personal life (and sorry there has not been any modding in it at all lately,) I would like to share some of what happened in probably what has been a world changing time for me. First, a little bit of background information. Most of my family are very conservative, fanatical Christians, they are Jehovah's Witnesses. As a JW, you are not supposed to associate with non-JW's, and you completely shun former JW's. Since I was 14, I lived with my father, and was a devout JW. for about 5 years I was very active in the church (cult.) So, as the story goes, you'll see why this has made my life extremely tumultuous of late. about one year ago, I met my best friend, also a witness, we would spend all day talking to each other, until the wee hours of the morning. We had so many things in common, goals, dreams, interests. we just had so much fun together. Eventually we fell in love. I remember how the feeling changed me, I couldn't focus, it was like I was drunk 24/7. all I could think about was us. Normally, it's a good thing to fall in love, for us, it was a curse. Because, I loved him, and he loved me, and well, we were gay. This is something that was extremely forbidden. If we were found out, it would mean losing our family, friends, and our entire social system. I remember being suicidal so many times growing up, because I tried to be someone I wasn't. I tried to be straight. But there is no decision involved. When I met him, my view of life changed, it was worth while. I had someone who knew me, the real me. And, instead of hating me, he loved me just the way I was. We had been in a relationship for about one month, when our friends started to suspect that we were more then good friends. My friend dated me to hide my real relationship, ( she knew what was really going on, and she offered to help.) Eventually, my boyfriend proposed to me. It had been so hard, because when you meet someone who makes you so happy, so proud to be alive and you just want to share them with the world. I wanted to tell my parents. So, I told my step mom, I came out to her. she was horrified and cried for a long time. She had said she would let me tell my father, but she couldn't hold it in. My father cried, and cried, and cried. he eventually called the church elders, they tried to "pray away the gay." I was so stressed, because I wouldn't give my boyfriends name away, but they were threatening to excommunicate me ( remember what I said about how JW's treat ex-JW's...) I never gave his name up. But my step mother called all of my friends to see if they could figure out who it was, eventually they found him. And then, he left me, he told me that he didn't want to make god sad anymore, he felt guilty about loving me, he said he wanted to live forever in god's kingdom, (think of it like a JW heaven.) I have never been so low in my life, the church was going to expel me, I was going to lose everything, my family, my friends. everything. and then i had lost the most important person I had ever met. I was hospitalized for two weeks for suicide. the next week after i was out of the hospital, they kicked me out. My parents packed my room and told me to find somewhere to sleep. I had no money, no job, no friends, nothing. my dad said I wasn't welcome in his house. my grandmother said she doesn't know who I am anymore. I wasn't allowed to say goodbye to my little brother. They are all so brainwashed in their cult. I lost my boyfriend to the indoctrination too. Although it is tough, like everyone you know acting like you don't exist. I have never been so alone. I saw my dad the other day, and he didn't even look at me, he walked right by like i was a stranger. Eventually I reconnected with an exJW I knew from when I was young, and she took me in, and my boyfriend woke up from his indoctrination, we are back together now, and he should be moving in shortly. I started making new friends, I celebrated my first birthday, my first Halloween, my first pride, I have a lovely job. I now live on my own, and I am completely independent, I have a Huge interest in doing drag, and I love drag queens. Hopefully I can find the time to do some more modding now, but my life is still settling, so we'll see if I can manage it. Anyways, I guess that's an extremely condensed version of the last 6 months of my life.

What I Did For The Community Last Year Have you wondered . . . what does Sith Holocron do as an administrator on this site? Wonder no longer! I’ve summed up what I’ve done this year so you can have an overview. Keep in mind some entries might just list a start date for an ongoing event – or it might take up from an event that took place from last year. There are also other things that I can’t freely talk about such as advice, staff chats, and secret projects that I am not at liberty to discuss. Do you have some time? You’re going to need some to read through all of this as I've working on this document for most of the year. I originally was going to release this on New Year's Eve but I thought to myself: Why Wait? Please note that some of these entries may come off like I have a chip on my shoulder. That may or may not be a figment of your imagination. January 02, 2017 Received voice lines from voice actor for the characters I1-02 (in M4-78 Enhancement Project.) Paid for actor’s services. (Yeah, some of those lines in the latest version of M4-78 EP that I paid actual real world money for. You know, the mod that isn't on this site?) Provided splicing for Leilukin's "Handmaiden and Female Exile - Disciple and Male Exile Romance" mod. January 04, 2017 Arranged for voice actor re-record lines to Zbyl’s specifications. January 05, 2017 (and beyond) Continuing the saga from last year, dealing with myriad issues with having the end credit trailers for both the TSLRCM and the M4-78 Enhancement Project redone. Paid for the project out of my funds. January 11, 2017 Provided splicing for Leilukin's "Darth Sion and Male Exile Mod" January 14, 2017 Taking a cue from Varsity Puppet’s replacement legal screens, created a new legal screen in TGA format for the M4-78 Enhancement Project. January 20, 2017 Posted "Blog #43 - Miguel Ferrer passes away" January 27, 2017 Posted "Blog #44 - RIP John Hurt" January 31, 2017 Continued to moderate between Hassat Hunter and Ndix UR on fixing one of the droid’s eye-lights. (M4-78 EP related) February 3, 2017 Received more lines from the voice actor for CS-36 (in M4-78 Enhancement Project) – again, I hired this guy. February 5, 2017 (an ongoing debate) Indicated the read-me for M4-78 Enhancement Project needed to emphasize that the intentional vagueness of the journal entries was supposed to represent “old school” RPG playing. (IMHO: If HH wants to continue to claim that’s intentional, he should claim so in the read-me file.) February 7, 2017 Created new video to (eventually) announce that the updated M4-78 Enhancement Project is available for download. Utilized lines from voice-actor for CS-36 specifically for this announcement. (Still waiting on this release.) Posted "Blog #45 - Hangar versus Hanger" as part of my on-going grammar series. February 14, 2017 Posted "Blog #46 - I Present a SWTOR Question!" February 15, 2017 Provided new splicing for Leilukin's "Atton Rand and Male Exile Romance" February 19, 2017 Released “TSL Animated Galaxy Map Texture in Canon Positions” mod. Posted "Blog #47 - Preparing for the Stoney Chapter soon" . . . for use in the M4-78 Documentary. February 20, 2017 Corrected “TSL Animated Galaxy Map Texture in Canon Positions” mod February 22, 2017 Sent questions from the general public to Stoney regarding his version of M4-78 for the documentary I’ve been doing with Xuul. February 23, 2017 Released “KOTOR1 "Canon" Animated Galaxy Map” mod March 1, 2017 Posted "Blog #48 - Design my next computer" March 16, 2017 Provided new splicing for Leilukin's "Handmaiden and Female Exile - Disciple and Male Exile Romance" mod. Posted "Blog #49 - I need a WAV file from MOTS" March 24, 2017 Collaborated with bead-v on the “TSL Galaxy Map Fix Pack” mod March 31, 2017 Posted "Blog #50 - Meet ‘Holocron’" – finally officially ending my drought without a functioning home computer by posting the process of putting it together. April 3, 2017 Updated “KOTOR1 "Canon" Animated Galaxy Map” mod April 4, 2017 Posted "Blog #51 - Who wants to make HD versions of the trailers?" – inspired by folks complaining on Reddit about the old low resolution trailers for KOTOR1 and 2, I decided to see if I could inspire the community to remedy that need. April 14, 2017 Collaborated with Kexikus on the “K1 Galaxy Map Fix Pack” mod April 19, 2017 Posted "Blog #52 - Stormtrooper Tutorial" – modernized and amended an old tutorial from another site. May 19th, 2017 Posted "Blog #53 - Help me name my next SWTOR Character” June 8, 2017 Posted "Blog #54 - Possible Expansion to K1 Portrait Pack?” Jun 25, 2017 After working on it since April, I finally received some additional sound files from the voice actress for the next version of M4-78 EP that Zbyl2 and Hassat Hunter requested. Of this effort, I received no thanks from either of the aforementioned persons. June 28, 2017 Posted " Blog #55 - Retro Action Figure Space Station” July 1, 2017 Posted " Blog #56 - The K1 and TSL Heads” July 2, 2017 Posted “Blog #57 - The Steam Workshop” July 5, 2017 Posted “Blog #58 - Let's Plays” July 18, 2017 Released “Animated Cantina Sign for KotOR 1” to public. July 25, 2017 Attempted a behind the scenes initiative to have modders and/or machinima makers remake some - if not all - of the KotOR1 pre-rendered movies for the game. July and August Offered sound files of KOTOR voice actors for machinima directors to use in the future videos. Dealt with questions that came up from the M4-78 EP Beta Team. (Yes, there was actually a beta team!) August 1, 2017 Posted “Blog #59 - "Name that Gun" Challenge!” Deleted pictures from Screen of the Day section by request of the original poster. August 2, 2017 Released “Animated Manaan Cantina Sign for KotOR 1” to public. Superseded shortly afterwards by my thread in the Request section here. (include link) October 1, 2017 Posted “Blog #67 - "Font Discussion” A blog discussing typefaces for the Star Wars games and the Star Wars universe in general. October 2, 2017 LucyTheAlien requested adding a filter to Mandalore’s “503xaart024” line in KOTOR2. Released in the “Bugs and minor inconveniences with TSLRCM 1.8.5” thread. October 4, 2017 Deleted multiple threads by ALPHA000102 on his requests. and so on . . . I’ve done other stuff after October 4th, of course. However, I think you might have the idea by now, right? Throughout the year . . . · Run spelling and grammar checks on your posts. (And you thought my blogs on grammar were just for show.) Of note: “Nar Shaddaa” is misspelled the most. Count out how many “a’s” and “d’s” you see in those two words and try to remember it. · Received numerous insults. (In addition to the above!) · Applied infractions and bans where necessary - Possibly but not necessarily related to above. ???? I inquired with other staff members when applying infractions. (It's not done in a vacuum.) · Worked on acquiring files for Ndix UR’s “Major Audio Classification” initiative. (You’ll have to ask him about that if you want more details.) · Sent numerous birthday messages to Members. (I’m picky about doing this. If I don’t recognize the name because they’re new or because I don’t see that person post (anymore), I often don’t bother.) · Provided input on various mods both in the threads or through Private Messages. · Work on unannounced projects which I am unable to discuss at the moment. · Other things of a personal nature but those involved know of what I speak. · Forwarded message traffic to the appropriate staff member. · Approved loads of mods. (However, I try to leave a majority of this to the Moderators.) · Ensured mod up-loaders have acquired permissions for materials used in their mods if they didn’t make a part of it themselves. · So. Many. Avatars. I really should cut down on that this year. (Nah.) · So many questions about when M4-78 Enhancement Project will be back on the site. I don’t know and you should stop asking me about it. Ask Zbyl2. Don’t bother asking Hassat Hunter about as I think he’s signed off doing anything with the mod ages ago. So . . . what did you do this year? Speaking of which . . . What You Could Do For The Community in 2018 (and Beyond) These suggestions are specifically directed at those that don’t mod. When you make a request – whether it’s for some new or altered content or a bug fix – remember that the folks answering you aren’t being paid. They’re giving up their time and energy with no financial compensation. So please make sure to do the following: 1) Provide Relevant Information: So . . . you have a bug. You want folks to help you. Then you must provide the information the modders need by utilizing the Read Me First threads for Knights of the Old Republic 1 or Knights of the Old Republic II [add links]. You’re most likely using K1R or TSLRCM but even if you’re not, providing the information specifically asked for those threads in vital before any can proceed. Plus . . . it’s in the site rules, ya know? {add links] Have you made more than one request? You still have to provide the information in those threads. For each request you make, you have to update the information provided. By the way, if you're mod configuration is so complicated that you have to have a Google Drive document in order to explain how you’ve put it together, you are the likely cause of your issue. That’s because you have too many mods and you have over-complicated your situation. (I wonder if I have someone specific in mind when I say this?) 2) Provide Feedback: If you like what you see, let them know what you’ve liked in the modder’s presentation. If you didn’t like what you saw, provide constructive feedback. Modders aren’t mind readers and seeing as you’re already made a request, don’t waste the modder’s time by only providing a two word comment. Provide detail! Consider this your initial down payment for a request - to provide the information that a modder needs. 3) Utilize that Like button: Let’s say you weren’t the original requester, but you liked what you saw. A simple way of letting of the mod author/s know he or she is on the right track (in your opinion) is to use that “Like” button. 4) Giving Thanks: One of my personal pet peeves is when someone makes a request, is provided with exactly what they asked for, and never makes a comment in the thread again. (I could point out numerous examples of folks not doing this but let’s keep things mostly civil for this blog.) The very least you could do is thank the person that helped you. Assuming you’re better than a person doing “the very least”, you should state how the mod or fix helped you. Yes, that means providing feedback. And like I previously mentioned, hit that Like button!

Remember the last KOTOR Reboot project to come along called Project Black Light? (I'll use my version of their logo because their logo has a really bad Star Wars logo slapped on it.) No? Here's a refresher if you truly want it. (It isn't necessary to view the video to understand the conversation below.) However, some new folks have decided to reboot Knights of the Old Republic. These folks are starting with the first game! Oh boy - let's pick this one apart. I will be setting up a check list for you so you can see the flaws more clearly. No, I'm not including the link for the site. I'll let you do a web search for this. "Apeiron"? Really!?! Bad font for the "Star Wars" logo? Check. (Especially note the "W". The "R" is a bit off too.) OK, let's move on . . . First nitpick. Why ask the same question twice? (Don't worry, folks. You'll see that the same question will appear the very next picture.) Apeiron, this should properly be called the "Frequently Asked Questions" section. Repeat of initial question? Check. Not using capitalization of the game's title? Check. Not using a standardization of the game's title? Check. Incorrect spelling of "companions"? Check. Use of a Kickstarter ready buzzword? Check. (That buzzword is "Indie", if you're playing along at home.) Mention of a studio that we've never heard of? Check. Not including a link to this unheard of studio? Check. Begging for assistance from the public? Check. Claims of being "professional people" without backing those claims up? Check. Claiming the project is "legal"? Check. Answering that question with a badly spelled word? Check. (It's "absolutely", Apeiron. Invest in a spell checking program.) Not spelling "successful" right? Check. (I guess they aren't successful.) For my gentle readers, this is the meat of their faulty argument? I'm hungry for new KOTOR stuff and you're likely to be too as you've read this far. Is this meat OK to eat? Let's delve further. They ask "Can you make a Star Wars game?" They don't mention if you can legally make one. They then cite examples of other fan created reboots that aren't Star Wars games to back up their case. This appears to be a case of a sweeping generalization. I will explain through an example that I found at logicalfallacies, info. Let's look at one of the cases cited here: Black Mesa. What did Black Mesa have on their side? Black Mesa is a complete ground-up remake of Half-Life using the Source engine, everything is made from scratch, there is not a single asset that came from Valve. That is: They used their own voice actors, their own soundtrack, their own props and remodels, and their own engine. Valve offered the Black Mesa team their own contract. However, Valve isn't Disney who owns the copyrights to all Star Wars items. Valve also isn't Electronic Arts who handles all of the Star Wars games as licensed by Disney. As Apreiron isn't . . . - dealing with Valve - dealing with Electronic Arts or Disney - has made no statement that they plan to create their own soundtrack, their own voice actors, their own props, and their own engine . . . then Apeiron has offered a false equivalent. Soldiering on . . . Spelling "intellectual" wrong? Check. A game could be "under the banner of intellectual property" but it's not "under intellectual property." Use your legal terms correctly. 100% Free! Until we beg for donations. And there's the extended hat... Do we accept donations? No! But we can and we will at some point down the road. Even though the mod will be 100% free.

I don't know if these blogs have any sort of length limit, but I guess I'll find out, huh? *Warning: This might look organized at first, but I jump around and just drop a whole lot of info on you. If you are able to make sense of what I'm trying to say, then good on you.* I would welcome you to my blog and ask that you enjoy the first post I've ever made, but I'm just not in the mood for all that "happy and friendly" stuff at the moment. The truth is, I always thought my first blog post would be about my Toolset and all the things I have planned for it, with successive posts being about progress or polls for features or design and all that cool stuff. I even thought I'd be doing some cool blog posts about college near the beginning, but that at least is still a possibility. Right now I'm writing this just to clear my head, though I really have no clue how many people are even going to see this. This just isn't the kind of thing I normally do, okay? Normally I don't make small talk or chit-chat, don't get long-winded about myself or god forbid I talk about my feelings. It's just not my usual style, but I'm in a mood that I can only describe as "very weird" twice now and I don't even know why. Usually I'm a fanatic for self-control and self-awareness, prizing those two things right up there at the top of my priority list; come to think of it, they're right next to dignity. I'm sitting here typing all of this out and I just don't feel anything besides the normal mild headache (we'll get to that), a little empty from hunger because I haven't eaten all day (should probably do something about that, but I'm almost out of money, so it has to wait until I get home in around two hours), and too warm because I'm still sitting with the blanket on me. I don't know how this will be received by all of you. And it's usually one of those many things I think about doing and then end up not doing, but right now I'm in a major "I don't care, I'm doing it" attitude and who knows if I'll look back and think "I shouldn't have posted that." *sigh* I guess I'll get to the point now that I've already lost half of you that clicked the link. *later bit here: I go on a bit of a tangent, so if you want to get to the current stuff, use Control-F and search for "And here I am, still working away at doing nothing."* I started modding back around November 7th, 2011. I knew nothing about computers besides how to type and click stuff (and play games, of course). Fast forward two or three months; In January, I've moved to Missouri to live with dad and I've gotten a D in my math class (my fault for not contacting the teacher; this was an online class) and really starting to figure out that my dad is an asshole. Oh, and I was banging my head against the keyboard trying to figure out scripting. And dad was practicing the usual "how to put down a woman and make yourself superior" routine because he's a real man and can walk the walk (please tell me you can hear the sarcasm...). Another five months and I've gotten more experience with modding and can navigate KotOR Tool pretty well. I've also been playing the games and enjoying the mods. I'm starting to actually have conversations with the other modders and feel like I'm fitting in. Come August and my brother shows up to visit (he moved in with Mom around September or October 2011). Everything's going great until dad goes off the deep end again with the vodka and my brother and I are in the bedroom playing videogames to ignore the belligerent jackass raging up and down the hall. *sigh* Then my brother went back to Oregon and I went back to my routine. I was usually spending eight or more hours a day engrossed in something KotOR, whether it was the forums, the tutorials, playing the games, or modding itself. Then I beta-tested the pre-beta version of the beta of the public beta of The Jedi Masters 2.0 for Trex and lost my internet for about two weeks. I was cut off and forced to learn a lot about modding in a real quick hurry to be able to finish TJM when things broke. This was actually a good experience for me, as it helped give me a lot of the basis for what I know today. And then in November I started spending a few days learning the programming language Perl and was working with KotOR Save Editor (what most probably know as "KSE"). Things had been heating up between me and dad this whole time. I yelled at him in the kitchen while he was drunk (I was actually yelling that I was on his side), he took one step in my direction, and then I was running (I honestly believe quite literally for my life) away for a few hours before I got sent back home by a friend (no, I don't blame the friend; he was just doing what he honestly believed was right). And before this incident I came home and found them drunk (they had been out of alcohol when I had left a few hours previously) and I got mad. I called a different friend to come get me for the night and then threw a note toward my dad as I went out the door. I should add that I was 16 and not exactly the brightest at forward thinking. Next day I got taken from school by dad, brought out to the backyard, and shoved up against a building while dad looked my right in the eye and said we were either going to duke it out (fight) or he was going to thrash me in the pool behind us. In the end, I didn't fight and I didn't go for a possibly-fatal dip in the pool. But after that I made firm steps to get my ass out of there and I left over Thanksgiving. I also was out of modding and mostly away from the community for the next... 8 or 9 months until I got a laptop from Mom. Then I helped LDR with a few projects and enjoyed some nice chats. He was helping ZM90 with some stuff for K1R and ZM90 was in need of a scripter. So my name was submitted and I agreed because I was bored. Oh boy, what a ride that started. Mom's boyfriend was just as bad as dad, except in a few different ways and he was most of the time sober. So while I worked on K1R and made some cool tool or other that is broken half a dozen ways, I also had to put up with him and graduating from high school. I eventually did and was making steady progress on K1R until the summer hit. Then I went into a slump and didn't do a whole lot of modding until around August. I was also fighting trying to get stuff from Fallen Guardian and ZM90 was trying but not really helping a whole lot. I had found out later that LDR was only a temporary helper and not a full-time guy. We finally got K1R 0.9 released and we got rushed with a lot of reports and bugs. I dealt with it okay and did the work to get K1R up to 1.0. And I've done the same with 1.1 and 1.2. Almost all of the work was me, Fair Strides the work-horse (self-admitted), with the exception of testing fixes, bugs, and compiling lists of stuff, which was done by ZM90. But I'm the big workhorse; always have been. Part of it's just my nature, my diligence, but a lot of it's been my conditioning. Conditioned by dad that playing video games means I'm lazy. Conditioned by Mom's boyfriend that doing nothing but laying around and watching TV means I'm lazy. Conditioning that reinforced my nature, my diligence and sense of perfection in my work, and makes it so I work my ass off on the task at hand, no matter if it's modding, programming, cleaning the house that my "aunt" leaves in a constant mess, or working outside on lifting, carrying, cleaning, and helping my uncle and grandpa out. And here I am, still working away at doing nothing. I haven't programmed in months, my modding is taking a nose-dive, I was absent from DS for a week and for the most part didn't notice, even though I hated not replying to the PMs. I know more about the KotOR engine than almost anybody else in this community, have helped out an astounding number of people (I never did count how many times people have mentioned me in read-mes, but there's also my post count), and yet I can't even string a dialog together and have tried several times to write tutorials. I've been here five years (almost), have risen to be one of the best around, and in a metaphorical sense I'm now feeling old and tired, spent. I can still help and I still do small tasks, but you won't see me crusading a project. I can't write my own tutorials even though I know so much, and I'm on the computer way too much. Almost daily I deal with headaches. Most of the time they are mild ones that stick in one spot, but they last for so long. There's a general blanket over my mind and I don't feel like doing much. I also have really bad motivation issues. I don't know what this means for me in the long run, but I know that I feel tired and that I'm almost useless at the moment. I don't plan on running out on anything I'm currently working on if I can avoid it, but I might end up taking a back seat on a lot of it. I know I need to be on the computer less and get out more. I hope I can get out more when the FAFSA comes in for school, but that just leads to a whole swarm of issues, all of which involve socializing. How do you people do it? Most of the time I'm not really in touch with most of my emotions and I've gotten good at suppressing stuff. But how do you people just walk up to a stranger and talk to them? Does it matter to you if you're talking to a guy or a girl, because it absolutely makes a difference for me. I like people, really I do, but I don't like trying to get to know them, that initial time where you're both just strangers. And when I do get to know someone, things go much better if they're a guy. If it's a girl, I know jack nothing about anything. A friend of mine once said I was kind, considerate, and caring enough that if I just tried, I could probably get a girl. But nowadays, if you try to act like that, you get labelled a creep or a stalker because it's not natural for a guy to be so nice to a stranger... I really should stop rambling. I'm rambling so much I don't even care that I've said things I probably should have kept to myself. :| To anyone who has read this far, thanks for taking the time. I don't blame you if you can't make sense of what I've written, so I'll try to sum it up below: 1. I'm moody and have issues. 2. I'm tired... 3. It's not you guys, it's me that's the problem. 4. I won't give up the projects I'm already on, but I won't be as big a presence around here for a whie.

So I made this rendering of Arren Kae, and from that came the idea of doing a version of the model that you could actually use inside the game. Now as I happen to be particular about game modifications being seamless, I decided that Arren’s apparel should for the most part resemble the Handmaiden’s robe, which is why the white robe on this model has no Jedi librarian patterns. Thought I’d still put those on the garments underneath the robe, but it’s not quite the same. Obviously I used Kreia’s model, the changes I did to the geometry are limited to the hood and the eyelids, which coupled with the work I did on the textures, result in the looks of a woman about the age Arren probably was at the time of the Mandalorian Wars. We don’t know if she was Echani or not, but I left the hair color unchanged. Her lips and eyes are as close to the Handmaiden’s as I could make them, because supposedly Brianna “bears the face of her mother.” The blue stone and necklace is there because her Darth Traya look includes an ornament with a red stone. All in all it’s not terrible, maybe I’ll work on it some more in the future

I've turned most of the major characters' lines for K1 and TSL into Mp3. I'm weird that way. I'm also anal retentive which means I have to track tag those MP3s. And I have to have decent album art for the track tag. Why not turn that obsessive nature into a positive? Hence me working on my own little portrait package. HairlessWookiee over at Reddit has been kind enough to provide some high quality shots of the TSL NPCs for me. A few at time right now. I thought I'd show off what I've done in the form of animated GIFs. Handmaiden (Hood Up) Handmaiden (Hood Down) Visas Marr Mira Now obviously it's only three frames with transitions I made to fade between them, but they aren't that hideous!

This original version of this tutorial I found ages ago on the Massassi Temple site. It was written by Tobbi Dala and the original version of the tutorial can be found through this link. What I've done here is to do some minor spelling corrections, add new pictures that show the tutorial using the most current version of Goldwave (the main program used in this tutorial) as of 20APR2017, and to provide new permanent links to 2 audio files needed for the tutorial. After the large tutorial quote, I'll be showing examples in this tutorial in action. I asked Zhaboka to record some lines that would be used to illustrate the tutorial in action and he was kind enough to assist. (Zhaboka's line replaces the line that the original tutorial grabbed from Mysteries of the Sith.) Now here's what the sound files sound like - so you can hear it for yourself! The lines will first appear without the filter and then with the filter. Special Thanks to: Tobbi Dala (of Massassi Temple), the original creator of the tutorial. Zhaboka: For recording new lines. HK-47: To extracting the line as it appeared on the original tutorial. Though it wasn't used here - as I used Zhaboka's new lines instead - the effort was and is most appreciated.

Since I (still surprisingly) get requests for permissions and such, I figured making this post might make life easier for everyone All of my mods (Past, Present and Future) are now up for free-for-all. Modify, merge, incorporate, abuse, punish, etc. them as you will. ----------- The ONLY stipulation(s) I ask are that: 1) Please don't re-upload my original as-is mods as 'standalone'. Most of my mods are convoluted at best and may require support the uploader isn't aware of (patches/fixes/etc). I need to know where my mods are uploaded in order to do that, preferably under my own account so I have proper access and privileges 2) Please give mention or credit. Not so much for me, as I don't really care, but for any of my mods that may have required contributions from other talent. Both, Kreia's Assorted Robes and USM ESPECIALLY. 3) Regarding the USM. Despite what past PMs and emails sent to me seem to think, USM is NOT "my" mod.. I am just a part of the team that happened to be around the most at the time of it's popularity and had a private site where we could host it (and my name is alphabetically first.. hehehe ) If any of the other authors return or have issues with parts of it being shared/distributed, then all bets are off. I WILL take sides with them and whatever they wish. However as it's quite old, and let's be honest, there are other (better) alternatives.. I don't think the crew will mind. Hell, the fact it's still being considered is enough to make me smile. So for now, it too is "free-for-all", however no standalone re-uploads, please (see #1) ----------- Stipulations aside, concerning #1, most of my mods are already available at most of the popular depots including Deadly Stream, Filefront, GameBanana and my own site, JumpStationZ. I AM currently working on NEXUS versions as well. This obviously wouldn't apply to merges/fixes/patches etc. that may require the sum total, portions or parts of my mods. By all means, include and re-upload those assets within your own mod to your heart's desire.

    1. The Fate of Bao-Dur, Version 1 (Death on Telos) This one's in movie script type format. 2. The Fate of Bao-Dur, Version 1 (Death occurs fighting alongside the Mandalorians) This one I grabbed from an email I sent to Darth Stoney. Do any of you remember Stoney? He was one of the guys that made the original TSLRCM and the original M4-78. (I just don't think he gets enough credit nowadays.) 3. The Fate of Colonel Tobin (Death on the Ravager) I was mentioned this in N-DreW25's recent thread but I'll repeat it here. Unfortunately, the original thread I made about this was on LucasForums, but the general gist was a thought I had about this way back in 2010 - where if you convinced Tobin to do the honorable thing and help destroy Nihilus' ship - then he died in the explosion that destroyed the fourth proton bomb. It never got implemented in either TSLRCM or the Ravager Rewrite mod that Zbyl put together but seeing what happened to Tobin would tie up that loose end in a nice way. The advantage of this is you wouldn't need to record any new lines - the major lifting would be the scripting and the making of a new cutscene including Tobin.

Years ago i was fortunate enough to have a beast of a computer, 3ds max, and be a part of a mod community called freeworlds: tides of war. That was where i first learned to model in 3d. after dabbling in things like iclone and daz 3d, i didnt just want toplay around any more, i wanted to create models. so i got a copy of gmax and got to the point i felt the need to get 3dsmax. that was where i got the modeling bug. ever since i have been addicted to it. Well flash forward to the mod i was working on at the time... freeworlds. it is a total star wars conversion of freelancer. While i was there, i modeled well over 1000 different ships, which never got used, because of the untimely theft of my computer, and a bit of confusion when i uploaded my models and they were deleted from the dev server. so tons of hours down the drain and nothing to show for it. but i do still have a few of the pictures i would post in my WIP. Yesterday i was browsing one of my old external drives and stumbled on some of these pictures. i had thought they were long gone, but i found some and i still enjoy looking at these even though i no longer have the 3d models. a few of these were also supposed to be used in a star wars conversion of X3 that never got off the ground either. alas, even though my models are all gone now, i did enjoy the time i spent on them, and i learned a lot about modeling work flow, and i got pretty good at making star wars ships that really fit the extended universe, and the star wars theme in particular. i also tried my hand at making environments (landing stations) but of the few examples i have the final product is something i did not screen cap, so they look pretty amateur (i wont post those). But what i do have are pics of my very fist model (the YT 1930 which i was infatuated with and got me started with the modeling bug) all the way to my last (the nova drive 3z, or is it z3? anyway) i hope someone enjoys looking a these as much as i did making them. but as you can tell i really got immersed in star wars modeling and still have the itch for it these days, just for something other than space ships, space stations, and transport craft of other kinds.

Just a quick entry, with a tip I've recently rediscovered, namely: how to take screenshots without the GUI. All you need to do to take screenshots without the GUI visible in TSL is: 1. Activate free-look mode (default keybinding is caps lock); 2. open the console and warp to your desired area. This will load the area, but leave the console invisible. To make the console visible again, just enter and quit free-look mode again. On an unrelated note, I have the impression from some basic tests that the Steam version of TSL has deactivated the game's fog settings. Can anyone confirm/deny? It's a little frustrating if, like me, you use them to create an effect rather than to reduce draw distance.

Okay, so this is turning into the most difficult texture job I’ve ever done. I didn’t know it when I chose the model, all I looked for was a whole chest on the texture: can’t do a Republic Admiral double breasted uniform by mirroring the left half on the right half, like so many models do. A lot has happened to the franchise since 2003 when KotOR came out, we now have seen Old Republic Admirals in the comics, the books, but of course none of them are super consistent with what Admiral Dodonna looks like in the game. By the way, other Admiral titles have also been introduced, so differences in style may be attributed to that. Still, if I’m doing mods for KotOR games, I want Republic Admiral uniforms to to look like the one we have seen in the original game. So back to the Military Suit that I’m trying to turn into a uniform. I easily turned the blaster holster into a utility pouch, raised the collar, loosened the sleeves a bit. On the texture side of things, I had to turn gloves into bare hands, get the whole suit to match the colors of the uniform, replace the belt. What turned out to be tricky is the decorative elements around the wrists and on the shoulder boards: on the texture for Admiral Dodonna, they look pretty straight and planar and easy to replicate, you can see that’s not the case on this model. Now I still have to draw some stuff on the chest, it’s starting to look like a uniform however, hopefully the end result will be worth the trouble. In a way it’s already worth it because I’m learning to draw textures, which is cool. If the uniform doesn’t look any better than the one I did years ago, I’ll start over with another model. We’ll see.

The fact that Juhani from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a canon lesbian character is fairly common knowledge among LGBTQ+ fans of Star Wars. However, occasionally I still see people who do not know that the first KotOR game has the very first confirmed gay character in any Star Wars media, including the old Star Wars Expanded Universe; there are some other people who actually believe that Juhani is bisexual. Therefore, as a lesbian and someone who has made mods for the Knights of the Old Republic games and written a detailed Juhani romance guide, I would like to present hard evidence from the game files to point out that Juhani is in fact a lesbian, a woman who is exclusively attracted to women. The most crucial evidence comes from k_hjuh_dialog.dlg, Juhani’s main dialogue file which contains all the conversations covered in my Juhani Romance Guide. If you use KotOR Tool to browse the game files, k_hjuh_dialog.dlg is under KotOR I > BIFs > templates.bif > Dialog. I recommend using DLGEditor to view the .dlg files from KotOR games. Here is a screenshot of my DLGEditor with the most relevant part of the k_hjuh_dialog.dlg file: The highlighted dialogue shown in the screenshot (”I feel I must apologize for the way I acted towards you before, in the grove. It was wrong of me.”) is the beginning of your first personal conversation with Juhani after Juhani joins your party. Here is a video of the conversation in question: As shown in the screenshot above, once you begin this conversation, the script k_hjuh_p17 will fire, and this is the source of the script in question: void main() { int iGender = GetGender(GetPCSpeaker()); if (iGender == GENDER_FEMALE) { SetGlobalBoolean("T_JUHANIROM", TRUE); } } (In KotOR Tool, you can see the source script k_hjuh_p17.nss under KotOR I > BIFs > scripts.bif > Script, Source) As you may have guessed from the above script, k_hjuh_p17 sets the Global Boolean T_JUHANIROM to TRUE if, and ONLY IF, the player character is female. The T_JUHANIROM global is used by the game to check if Juhani’s romance is active or not. In other words, the game activates Juhani’s romance ONLY IF your player character is female, as soon as you start Juhani’s personal conversation after she joins your party. If your player character is male, Juhani’s romance will NOT be activated. Here is the hard evidence from KotOR's game files that Juhani is a lesbian, a woman who is exclusively attracted to women. Juhani is NOT straight. Juhani is NOT bisexual. The game used to have a bug that allowed male player characters to access Juhani’s romance, which is probably why some thought that Juhani is bisexual. However, the bug had been fixed in later patches. By fixing the bug, the game has made sure that ONLY a female player character can romance Juhani. Even though the word “lesbian” or “gay” is never used in any of the KotOR games, it does not change the fact that Juhani is a woman character who can only be romanced by a woman player character, which means Juhani is gay, a lesbian. Furthermore, I have read articles mentioning that Stanley Woo, Juhani's writer, had confirmed that Juhani is gay. Unfortunately, I cannot find the actual source of it. It is likely that Stanley Woo posted about it on the BioWare Social Network forums, but the forums are already offline. In conclusion, Juhani is a canon lesbian character and has always been intended to be such. I would also like to emphasise that I DO NOT support any mods that make Juhani a romance option for male characters under any circumstances, because such mods would be erasing the identity of the very first confirmed lesbian character in any Star Wars media. Not to mention, Juhani is the ONLY confirmed LGBTQ+ character in the entire KotOR series (Belaya from KotOR 1 and Luxa from KotOR 2 are heavily implied to be gay or bisexual, but their sexuality is never confirmed). Please respect LGBTQ+ representation and the identities of canon LGBTQ+ characters.

Canon and cannon are very often confused and used improperly. Although the two nouns are pronounced identically and spelled similarly, the only difference being one "n", these words have completely different meanings and should never be used interchangeably in writing. Cannon (noun): A mounted gun for firing heavy projectiles; a gun, howitzer, or mortar. A ship's cannon Example of word in use: Before Darth Vader and his accompanying fighters chased Luke Skywalker in the Death Star's trench, the turbolaser cannons stopped. A turbolaser cannon Canon (noun): The body of rules, principles, or standards accepted as axiomatic and universally binding in a field of study or art. The Chronicle of Narnia canon Example of word in use: Though the books are numbered, there is still debate over which Narnia book should be read first due to the series' internal chronology. So to review . . . Correct Usage: Women writers have been fighting to find their place within the male-dominated literary canon. Women writers have been fighting for their place in the male-dominated literary society with cannons. (Grammatically correct, but perhaps not factually correct.) Incorrect Usage: The guns are bad enough, but now the enemy has canons! If you try to put Admiral Thrawn in the new movie, you'll get smacked by Disney because they removed him from the cannon.

I’m trying a few new things, ‘new’ as in things I haven’t tried before, because let’s be real, giving Mandalore a flamethrower, somebody must have come up with this idea before. This is what I came up with, I moved the handconjure dummy to make the the flame spray beam originate from the wrist instead of the hand. Then I had to add some sort of gun nozzle, and I meant for it to come out of Mandalore’s vambrace, but I still haven’t found a way to make it look good. I’d rather avoid adding meshes to an existing 3d model, the end result never looks as good as the original model, or as smooth I should say. What I did was add an entry in visualeffects.2da so that the gun nozzle would only appear as a visual effect for half a second, unfortunately you can’t hook up a visual effect to just any body part you want, so I had to use the root dummy. I’m not satisfied, perhaps I’ll give it another try, meanwhile it’s been fun

Previous topic title: A Celebration of Life Day! Yes, I'm early on this one but this will require planning. My thought was to celebrate Life Day by having one of my characters sing a Christmas song in my Nar Shaddaa Stronghold. Several rooms have a Life Day theme in them. I though it might be fun to have to make a cheesy video with Deadly Stream folks partying it up in my Stronghold ' "Emfour's Lair of Shadows" - drinking, dancing, and carrying on. I haven't found a song yet to sing but it'll probably be a Christmas standard. I'll have to find a song with no leading vocals on it so I can sing over it karaoke-style. BTW, here are a few pictures of the setting so you can picture the concept in your head. My Stronghold is on the Jedi Covenant server. Or . . . here's just a few random pictures of my Nar Shaddaa Stronghold in SWTOR. Far away shot of the stronghold. Medium distance of the balcony. Overview shot showing of the landing pad and entry way. I may have over did it on holo-trees but this is a Life Day themed stronghold. Fireworks display. I've turned the main area into a greenhouse. In between the plants, I've sneaked in some utility decorations for my Biochem character. At the bottom of the staircase. Love that chandelier! I've done what many people have done with the staircase - covered the walls with Banners. However the datacrons are split between the two staircases. This one is the dark sided staircase. One of the smaller side rooms near the entrance. This is my Czerka room. HK-51 is disguised as a Czerka bot, Vette is wearing a Czerka jacket, Guss Tuno is wearing a Czerka Corporate outift, and Dr Lokin is in disguise as Czerka security. And yes, that's a HyperMatter logo light on the ceiling but Czerka didn't have one as cool as that one so in my canon, Czerka bought HyperMatter. And here's the intro video, for good measure.

Disciple and the Holocrons . . . that sounds like a bad KOTOR cover band, doesn't it? Anyway . . . As most of you know, there's some cut content in The Sith Lords regrading "lost holocrons" and Disciple's quest to find them all. During the quest you'd find several of them - both Jedi Holocrons and Sith Holocrons. You could gain force powers from the holocrons. It was a shame it was unreleased as it actually gave you something to actually do with Disciple - a character that racks low on the NPC character scale. And yes, there are sound files for this. To you that have found this blog, I hereby present a challenge: Using some or all of the lines in the above video, create a feasible mission and dialogue tree that would enable the Disciple and your Exile to complete that cut quest. May the Force be with you. [insert Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference here]

Hey everyone, So I haven't updated this blog in a while, truth be told, I completely forgot it existed! So what have I been up to since my last entry? Well I began full work on the final film in my KOTOR II Movie Quadrilogy! I've been working on it since around June 2017 (some months have been more productive than others) and I'm really pleased with it so far, I honestly think it's some of my best work and I'm aiming to go out with a bang. The film is being edited slightly out of sequence but I feel confident in saying I have around an hour and 20 minutes locked down, with the next 10-15 currently being cut together, the complete film is looking at being around 2 hours & 5-10 minutes (not including credits). I uploaded the first teaser for it on Christmas Eve and since then I've actually made a surprising amount of progress, expect more previews/trailers in the coming couple months. I have no set release date in mind, but I'm looking at Spring/early Summer potentially, though, don't hold me to that! That's about it for now, I think. I have a very busy semester ahead of me too, and I'm in no rush to get this film out. It needs to be the very best it can be. Here's the first teaser for anyone who hasn't seen it yet: ~ DV

Oh, where to begin? First of all, Happy 40th Birthday Star Wars. And what better way to celebrate than by finishing my current KotOR playthrough today. I've been recording this current playthrough(with obvious, redundant gaps and no movies), and all in all I have about 46 hours (256 GB) to sift through. Why? Because I'm actually going to be using my YouTube Channel for something that'll keep my post-production skills sharp: Reviews and Analysis videos. Now, there may be those of you asking "Why review a game that is so old like KotOR? Wouldn't it make sense to review newer games that are coming out?" I have two reasons for doing things this way. The first is because my laptop's hardware isn't up to par to run newer games that are coming out today. If you must know, here are my specs: Model: ASUS G46VW OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU: Intel i5 3230M @ 2.6GHz HDD: 750GB 5400RPM SATA RAM: 8GB (4GB x 2) DDR3 1600MHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 2GB Most modern games I barely meet the minimum required hardware in at least one of these fields. Some games (I'm looking at you, Witcher 3) would never be able to run on this laptop. The second reason is because I've found that there are in fact gamers who've never heard of many of the older titles that have helped define what a video game should be. I feel sad whenever I mention KotOR in an environment of people who have never played it, and I know I'm not the only one. And KotOR is just one example. With all that said, now to the reason why I've decided to do two different videos. I originally just wanted to do simple reviews. However, I believe that reviews should give away as little information as possible and yet still be informative enough to help a potential customer decide whether a work of fiction is for them or not. When it comes to games, there's usually a lot more to talk about regarding certain spoiler-ish topics, and I want to be able to share my thoughts as well. That's where the spoiler-filled in-depth analysis comes in. One other thing that needs mentioning: No, I will not be leaving modding behind, it just has to make room for this other new activity. I will make sure the community here knows when they can watch my review of KotOR. Until then... DarthTyren has spoken.

Hey everyone! I'm new to this, so bare with me as I get used to the notion of blogging my updates on my films. As of now, the third film in my series "Legacy of the Sith" stands at around 90% done, I'm currently working on filming/editing the final few scenes. I'm really happy with this film so far, I've been working on it since around April 2016 as I think it's my best work yet, it's the most exciting of the series so far, with some large action set pieces, and thanks to the help of Jenks (known as Jenko here) I've learnt how to write custom scripts to trigger some neat looking animations in the game. I'll post a more in-depth blog post in the near future, for now, I'm back to work on finishing this film. You can check out the full theatrical trailer here: Enjoy! By the way, would anyone be interested in a tutorial series on how I create my films? I've had several requests on YouTube and a few on here on how I create certain sequences, I'd probably be looking into it after finishing the final film some time next year, let me know! ~DV

In my recent blog post, I was asking folks for their input on rebuilding my old Windows 7 computer. It's time for an update! Here's the part breakdown . . . iBuypower ARC 647 CASE ATX Mid Tower Case (unchanged from original) Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler (a recent purchase but before this build) PowerColor Radeon R9 270X 2GB Video Card (unchanged from original) Update (as of 09JAN2019): Radeon RX 580 LG UH12NS30 Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer (unchanged from original) Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K4 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Western Digital Blue 4TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply CORSAIR Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 300 Cooler Master SickleFlow (Red) 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (I had to replace a fan in front, more on that below) NZXT Sleeved LED Kit - red - 1m (12 LEDs) The Pictures! Here's a "before" picture for you with all of the old equipment, with the side off. You might note that there's a small fan between that huge light brown Noctua fan and the side of the case. That fan - a red LED fan - was moved to the front of the case in the build. It joins another red LED fan that was purchased to replace an old one. Here's the case emptied out. The Intel chip is installed in the motherboard. Power supply installed. Better look at the fan that was later moved to the front. The monstrous fan is put back in. As you can see above, the Corsair RAM almost could not make it in due to the large fan size. That RAM has red LEDs in them. Are you seeing a red theme in this build yet? It's interesting to me because the original build had a blue cathode light bar. That red band on the side of the case should have convinced me to go with a red light bar in the first place. I wanted some red lights in there besides the RAM so I went with the lighting kit listed above. I wanted it subtle so I placed the LEDs just outside of view of the window so there would be a faint glow rather than something more Vegas styled. Here's the back of the case. Side panel reinstalled, with room lights on. Front of the case, in low light conditions. Side of the case, in low light conditions. This process has not been without a headache. After installing the Windows 7 back on the computer, I discovered (after the fact) that Windows 7 computers do not recognize drives above 2TB because a partition type called MBR. It has to be a GPT type to do that. However - and here comes a catch 22 - you can't install Windows 7 on a GPT drive. But I do still have a Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive from the original build which I'll be installing back into the computer. The Windows 7 will install on there, enabling me to changine the parititon scheme on the 4TB drive from MBR to GPT. I just have to have the time and patience to get back into the computer to install that drive. In the mean time, I can certainly make do with 2TB as it's more than what I had before! Finishing touches: I'm one of those old folks that like to use Windows event sounds. Mine mostly came from this video. (I also added a few myself from other sources.) I might be able to part with them if you PM me. (This offer may be retracted at any time.) Special Thanks. Thanks so much to Th3bigM00se to helping me put this together. (He did most of the work.) You can visit his Youtube channel here! (Be nice, folks!)

Well it's been a little while, hasn't it? Mostly my fault, though. Been busy with school and working on the Toolset mostly, plus there's the usual fun with DnD every week. I'm wanting to do another stream or two soon (I figure probably another US-and-then-EU session). I'm debating on continuing with the scripting because it's occurred to me that going anywhere from here requires and understanding of at the last the basic components of the game and the tools, so I might do a stream just on those subjects... I'm also not going to be able to do a Saturday or Sunday stream due to the schedule. At the very least, I can probably do a session on a Thursday night (bear in mind, I'm PST UTC - 8) and then another on the following Friday morning. What do you guys think? Should I go over the basics or keep going with the scripting? And what do you think about your schedules versus my availability? Also, if anyone ever wants to go into a particular aspect, they are always free to make the suggestion and I'll do my best to get around to it.

I would like this idea to see as much light as possible, so for those that see the blog and the status update (or even the Reddit entry), please show this to anyone that might be interested. I am considering looking into a platform like Discord to hold something akin to a livestream event. Except that there wouldn't be music or gameplay footage, though there could indeed be commentary. If enough people would attend, I have it in my mind to hold an event where I talk about KotOR Scripting: What it is, how to learn it, the basics, specific functions, and I would be more than happy to do examples. This would be where you can ask questions about something and get some help. It also helps me to develop material in a usable form for me to create tutorials on the subject. Let me know what you guys think and if you have any suggestions, requests, or recommendations, I'll be more than happy to hear them. Edit: Looking at some of the responses, please also post your timezone and what days of the week you believe would be available.

So, I'm making my way through the Undercity, killing Rakghouls. Nothing particularly special. And so I get to one corner which has a ton of them in it. And they start to overwhelm us (as Impossible Difficulty rakghouls will do if they get up close to you). So Mission beats a hasty retreat as I'm already down and Carth stupidly charges into a nest of them. And I'm left with just Mission up, having to kill the remaining rakghouls before I can do anything else. Actually, my character revived before Carth got himself knocked out, so I was able to go repair a droid to attack the rakghouls. The droid went down pretty quickly and then my character just watched as they came and knocked him out, because the AI is dumb. So I'm back down to just Mission, with six or so rakghouls to kill. And with some grenades, mines, and the highly successful strategy of RUNNING AWAY, I manage to kill all but one. I head back to the area to pick of the last one... And the whole pack has respawned again. That's around ten or eleven rakghouls, each of which can and will oneshot Mission. At this point, I fell like I was very much justified in saying "Screw this," decreasing combat difficulty to Easy, using an exploit to revive and heal my character, and then watching as Mission killed all of the rakghouls herself since they rarely did more than 0-1 damage to her at a time. I don't regret doing that. Seriously, KOTOR's a great game, but there's times when it gets downright frustrating... Oh, and Mission's the best. Just saying. ------------------------------------------------------- Was this post fun? Stupid? Boring? Let me know!

Finally satisfied with the look. What I did now is fix a few wayward vertexes that nobody thought were important because you couldn’t see them under that hood: eyebrows and other minor details. You might have noticed them during a Talk_Sad animation, on both Kreia’s original model and its Dark Side version. Must be one of those things they had no time to fix, because at least another model has the same problem: the Dark Side version of Atris, which was cut from the game. You can see the eyebrows are fixed, but there’s still a problem when you take off the hood, it’s a problem that Kreia’s original model has, the black one seems to come off nicely instead. Beside that, I think Master Kae is ready.

This topic has been discussed a million times over during the years and each topic has been concluded with "There isn't enough content to restore it and would be custom content" and no one has taken up the challenge of making this a reality. This blog is an idea made by me on how a custom content Disciple Holocron mod should play out. Before I begin with the actual idea for those who don't know what I am referring to once the Disciple was a Jedi a female Exile and he would find Holocrons and these Holocrons could teach the Exile and him a new Force Power, this hasn't been restored as only lines remain, no actual Holocron's or locations for the Holocrons exist. For those who are interested in lines here is a video by Sith Holocron of the cut lines Now for the idea. Holocrons should be founded on most worlds as placeables. For locations, I would say Jedi Holocron in the Onderon Royal Palace museum Jedi Holocron in the Jedi Enclave Sublevel Sith Holocron in the Sith Academy First off, if you're male you should still be allowed to open the Holocron without the Disciple. If you use Party Swap then a male character can hear Disciple's lines but another male penalty will apply which I will mention later on. The powers the Holocron should teach you are Force Crush, Force Enlightenment and Battle Precognition. As Battle Precognition can be taught by the Handmaiden if you're male or use party swap a penalty should apply to the Holocron that teaches Battle Precognition so that you don't learn it twice. My idea for a penalty is that the Holocron for Battle Precognition should be found on Dantooine behind a locked door in the Sublevel. On the opposite side of the academy away from the Holocron room should be a Mercenary Corpse with Thorium Charges and a Datapad to detail how he was to find Jedi Artefacts for Azkul so he could sell the Artefacts for credits to fund his Mercenary Army (Or learn the Holocrons secrets for himself as he does state he was trained at Malak's academy possibly hinting he was a Sith Student on Korriban). Using the Thorium Charges from either the dead mercenary or somewhere else the Exile can blast the door down, the penalty here is that if you have Handmaiden male or female the Holocron "breaks" in the explosion similar to the one on Korriban with Bastila's message if you are light side. If you don't have Handmaiden then the Holocron can teach you Battle Precognition. The Jedi Holocron in the Onderon Royal Palace museum should be viewed by the Onderonian's as a Jewel not knowing of its true nature, where it came from presumably was found on Onderon during some previous war left behind by a possibly dead Jedi. The Exile should learn Force Enlightenment from this one and gain Light Side points for doing so. The Sith Holocron on Korriban should be found somewhere in the Sith Academy maybe the Sith Library as there is a Sith in K1 who states there are Holocrons in the Academy and also Scavengers have been trying to steal these holocrons. This Holocron will teach Force Crush and give the player Dark Side points. Obviously, you cannot receive Force Enlightenment or Force Crush at the end game like in Vanilla and TSLRCM. Another good idea for this mod is that you teach your Jedi Companions your new powers, Disciple on the over hand if he was present when you learned the powers will gain the power with you meaning you don't have to teach him at all. For the actual Holocron placeable's I'd suggest Insidious' Holocron Placeable Modder's Resource found here- http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/581-k1tsl-modders-resource-holocrons/

Hey folks, I've had this message set up in advance so I can activate it and be on my merry way. On or about the 20th of July 2016, my possessions will be boxed up and I will start the long move from the east coast of the United States all the way up to Alaska. That's a long hike - and with a whole country in between! Adding to the time it takes to move all my family's stuff, there's also the matter of the housing situation being set up on the other end of the journey. (I may be in temporary housing for up to a month.) And there's the settling in at my new job to think of as well. All told, I may be away from the modding scene for up to two months. I can be reached via email but my time will be limited. So . . . if you have questions about uploading your mods or other staff needs, please reach out to one of our fine moderators to help you with your inquiry. (Remember, if you're not entirely sure who's the best person to ask, ask a Moderator before you make the jump to an Administrator. I will miss you guys. Behave! Secret Team Personnel: I wish you the best with the Secret Project. I look forward to seeing something interesting that you might report once I'm back.

I've just become aware that there's another M4-78 mod available on the 'net that was created way back in 2007. It's called the Droid Planet mod and it was created by Darth_Shan. The creator got it to a version 1.3 so he must have worked on it for some period of time. Why mention this to you, Dear Reader? Have you heard me mumble something about a secret project lately? I'm currently working on a video documentary that will cover all of M4-78's history: Why it was cut from the game in the first place and the various attempts to restore it to the game. (Now you know.) This mod is a part of that history. Do you wish to be a part of it? Try out the mod linked above and offer your reviews. I have no earthly idea if it's TSLRCM compatible. My educated guess is that it isn't. (If you're adventurous, be my guest to try it out with TSLRCM.) I won't be able to help you if there's an issue installing it or how the plot goes. However, there's a cheat guide and walk through included with the mod in case you get stuck. At the very least, I'll be able to add this mod to appropriate section on the Compatibility List.) Best case scenario, I'll get some recent reviews of this mod and you find something new to explore. I hope you'll join me on this endeavor. M4-78 (figuratively) salutes you!

Hey folks! I'm in the process of making a video series but I have to think a few steps ahead to making an end credits scroll which would simulate the credits scrolls for the movies and the KOTOR games. I know the fonts to use . . . . . . and I have those fonts (among many, many others.) But I don't know of a free program that can accurately simulate the actual scrolling. No, I don't own Photoshop and I can't afford it so that's pretty much out as an option. I'd appreciate any free (or at least relatively inexpensive) suggestions that anyone could offer.

I am an old man. I recall seeing this station work-project in one of my mother's magazines and feeling pangs of jealousy of those that had someone build it for them. Reading the original article describing this station and downloading the building instructions can be found here. I wonder if anyone on the site is handy enough to build it - as I certainly am not. There was a second time this magazine discussed play-sets but it wasn't as cool as this one was. (I can bring that one up folks are interested but links can be found through this I linked to above.)

Since many of you lack the intestinal fortitude to ask me directly why she was banned, allow me to illuminate you. Multiple times, she violated Rule 6 - the bumping rule. She was warned many times via PMs not to do this but she continued to do so. She even bragged about doing so here. Let's not forget her continual complaints that folks weren't working non-stop about mods she put in requests for. Modders will work on mods at their own pace and badgering them about it isn't going to increase that pace. Twice, she violated Rule 3 - Flaming/Harassment - when she PM'd me (and presumably others) to complain in a profane manner about previous complaints. Because of the language used in the Private Messages, I wouldn't be able to post them here. (I've deleted them from my Inbox so don't bother to PM me to ask to see them.) By the way, she also complained about delays on the boards. She continues to complain about mods not being created on her schedule off the site. Here's a choice example from YouTube. Here's something you might be forgetting: I don't get paid for this job. Modders don't get paid for making their mods, either. Do any of us need ceaseless aggravation from folks that can't be patient and/or abide really simple rules of discourse? Like it or not, this forum does have rules and by using this site, the user has agreed to abide by those rules. Follow the Rules and you'll not get banned. It's really as simple as that. I've deleted most of LucytheAlien's threads that lacked any responses. If she's not going to be here to respond, the deleted threads really serve no purpose any longer. Threads she initiated that had received responses remain. Here's what the site owner has to say about this situation, by the way. The matter is now closed. Move along. Move along. (Yes, this is a locked thread.)

I was playing around with Darth Sapiens' hi definition T3-M4 mod sometime ago. I had the the idea to recolor it so it could also be used 3C-FD, the temporary droid in T3's party in the prologue. Then, I totally forgot about it. Hopefully, someone might be able to recall the name of T3-M4's texture so I can use this in the game.

My birthday is on December 6th. I have an idea that will cost you nothing and may help the community. If you were leaning towards wishing me a happy birthday, I'd rather you invest your energy towards this concept instead. Think of a mod you've download from this site. Anyone's mod. If you liked that mod - even a little - I'd love for you to go that mods page and leave a comprehensive review what you liked about that mod. Don't just leave a one sentence review - go into actual detail. What you leave should be mostly to completely positive. Easy so far? Once you're done, link to your new review below. Thanks!

I'm looking for recommendations for great mods for KOTOR1's Taris and the Endar Spire - both texture mods and anything else that might enhance the experience of those two planets in particular. Asking for a friend.

I thought I’d start one of these blog things. I’ll be using them to announce... things. First up is the release of a mod that’s five years late. Veterans of the LucasForums era may remember a mod for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords called “JC’s Toolbox”. It added what I called “a collection of items for developers, filmmakers, and cheaters of all kinds”. It let you do things like open and close doors, get free items and XP, teleport, spawn characters, and play animations, and it granted full control over the party system so you could add or remove party members wherever and whenever. I initially sought out these functions while making videos with the game, and also found them to come in handy with mod development. Before I made the Toolbox, I relied on a few different mods - the Whereami Armband, Call of Aid, Teleporter 2000, and the Wrist Console - to perform these functions. Most of these mods performed their function through armband items; you could equip the armband on your player character, and then it would fire the mod’s script when activated. The Wrist Console was a little different, using Mira’s wrist launcher as a template instead. But they all gave you an item that, instead of creating an energy shield, would fire a custom script to teleport you or spawn characters or whatever. I even made my own edits to a couple of these mods, adding more features like animations and unused camera modes that were left over from Neverwinter Nights. I used these for years before deciding to learn how to make a proper armband myself instead of hacking someone else’s. In the process, I also learned that armbands and wrist launchers weren’t even necessary: there’s an unused item type called “Plot Usable Item” that functions like an armband, but the function is available so long as the item is in your inventory. You don’t have to equip it at all. I believe this was used for the sonic device on the water suit in the first game, the one that lets you kill sharks. It still functions in KOTOR II, and since you don’t need to equip it to use it, I could access more than two of them at a time. The entire party could access them, too. That was much more convenient than the previous setup. So I decided to rebuild not only my mod hacks, but also many of the original functions of those mods, to give myself a set of Plot Usable Items to replace all the old tools. With accessibility being a non-issue, I decided to make several tools, each with a limited scope. My hack of Call of Aid had gotten particularly crowded, so I wanted to avoid that. Each new tool would specialize in a specific area, such as spawning characters, playing animations, or managing the party system. And I overdid it. The initial release of JC’s Toolbox contained eighteen usable items. I ended up making the actual Toolbox item just to be able to fire the other seventeen from the same place. According to my records, I released the K2 version of my Toolbox in December 2012, and over the following year I made a couple updates to that. I didn’t release a K1 version. There was a good reason for that. A bunch of my scripts wouldn’t work. It took me five years to figure out why. I was never compiling scripts for K1. It’s rather embarrassing, but that’s that’s the truth of it. I compile my scripts through a batch file, and I have a different one for each game. When I first set up the K1 compiler in 2009, I neglected to edit the file to change the game number. On top of that, I wasn’t aware of some significant differences in scripting for each game. I knew Obsidian added many functions, but I didn’t realize they had changed a few of them too - common functions like ActionStartConversation, DestroyObject, and CreateItemOnObject. Several functions have been altered to pass more parameters in K2. For example, when creating an item in K2, you can specify whether the player will be alerted through the GUI or whether the creation will be hidden. I first learned how to script in K2, and you could say I developed some bad habits and wrote all my K1 scripts under the assumption that they worked the same as they did in K2. And because both my compilers were set to compile for K2, I was never told otherwise. No error messages, no scripts that wouldn’t compile, nothing. The compiler was reading K2 scripts and writing K2 scripts, so as far as it was concerned, nothing was wrong. For nine years, I was writing scripts for the wrong game. For the most part, these scripts did work. I’m amazed how much of it did work. Even though the scripts were compiled for the wrong game, even with the differences in those functions, they did run. After all, I wouldn’t have gone so long without noticing the problem if the scripts didn’t work. I’m only now realizing how many oddities I encountered can be blamed on this mix-up. Up to a point, my scripts would run properly. Even if my script was compiled for the wrong game, most of the functions are the same, so it was happy. Then it would reach one of these functions that Obsidian had changed. It would get to an extra parameter that didn’t belong in K1. That’s where the trouble began. With CreateItemOnObject, the parameters are the item name, the object to receive the item, the number of items to create, and then whether to hide this process or not. In K1, the script was happy to put in the item, and the object, and the amount, but when it got to that last bit, it couldn’t take it anymore. The function wasn’t coded to allow a fourth parameter. So it would execute the first three parameters, and then it would get stuck. That meant it would actually create the item, as I intended. But the rest of the script wouldn’t run. Not just the rest of that function, but the rest of the entire script. That’s how these bugs would play out. My script would run up to a point, and then mysteriously stop running. It all makes sense to me now, but understand that for years and years, I didn’t have any reason to assume there was a connection between these oddities, or that they could all be blamed on such a simple mistake. As far as I was aware, they were isolated incidents beyond my control. I thought that was just the way things were, and developed some workarounds, like executing CreateItemOnObject in a separate script, that let me do things the wrong way for nine years. And even doing things the wrong way, I still managed to achieve most of what I wanted. But these bugs crippled the Toolbox for K1. I started working on it shortly after the initial release of the K2 version, but certain scripts just would not behave. I released a few betas of the K1 version that lacked the misbehaving features, but I held off on an official release until I could get them to work. I could never figure that out. I only realized my compiling issue recently, by happenstance, and from there I was able to unravel the whole mess. It was all because of a stupid mistake that was Past JC’s fault. Now, JC’s Toolbox for K1 is ready for release. It’s a collection of items for developers, filmmakers, and cheaters of all kinds. It lets you do things like open and close doors, get free items and XP, teleport, spawn characters, and play animations, and it grants full control over the party system so you can add or remove party members wherever and whenever. It’s five years late, but it works. And it was programmed for the right game.

Greetings, meatbags. Last time I posted, I implied that my home studio would be up and running again ASAP - and it would have been... had I not discovered black mold in the designated work area! This, along with a general mustiness, would have been detrimental to my vocal cords and, presumably, my life! It's been a process to remove this mold and fix up the root cause of it. In the meantime, I've been utilizing my town's local access television channel's recording studio. Doesn't grant a lot of time and I have to schedule quite a bit in advance, but it gets the job done while sounding pretty much up to my standards. So, that's that. I actually have a recording block reserved for tonight, so if you're waiting on something from me, it will likely be ready later this evening. As always, I'm here if you want something done right. Have a great day, and let me know if you need something recorded for your mod. - UC

Greetings, meatbags. Thanks everyone for the interest in my VO work! I've had a lot of fun working with all sorts of different characters. Unfortunately, I just had to go through an unplanned move so sorry for the delay in any recent delivery of files. I should have my new VO booth set up by next weekend and I'm going to start off with a huge KotOR mods recording session. This new setup should sound even better than my old one though, so hopefully this will be worth the wait! As always, feel free to drop me a line if you want something done right. ;P - UC

One thing that I think is an easy win in making KotOR more enjoyable is simply increasing the polycount on the different models. One click to tesselate the head model for the female NPC Twileks dulled the blade-like leeku on her head and made her look incredible. I hope to have a mod for it soon so everyone can enjoy this simple yet really effective mod in making KotOR a more modern looking game to be enjoyed by newcomers and old timers.

Last year I attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. I had a terrible time there. My roommates I got stuck with were drug traffickers and I had not made any real friends on campus so every Friday night I would make the three hour drive from Knoxville to Nashville to spend the weekend with my dad. The drive was straight forward and pretty simple. It was essentially one road that took me all the way home. However, anyone who has driven through Tennessee knows that the state is mountainous. This one road home was not extremely straight forward, and as winter approached, I began making this drive in the pitch black night that comes with driving through trees in the middle of nowhere. Most of these drives blurred together but one night stood out from the others. One night in the middle of November something happened I will never forget. I was driving up one of the many mountainous paths that dotted the landscape when I saw a car parked on the side of the road with a young woman who looked to be around my age standing next to it waving me down. I was a little nervous but she didn't look threatening and seemed to need my help so I pulled over and got out of my car. She was freaking out. In between the sobbing she managed to get her story out. She had come around the corner and somebody was standing in the middle of the road. She slammed into them at 80mph and they went skidding across the ground. She slammed on her brakes to avoid hitting them a second time, but by the time her car had stopped the person was standing in the middle of the road. Standing. And then, casually walked off the road into the trees. I figured she must have hit a deer or something. That cannot happen, right? But there was clearly a dent in the front of her car and I could see skid marks of blood down the road. She said right after this happened, her car had stopped working, and being in the middle of nowhere, there was no cell signal. She was so freaked out, I couldn't just leave her so I offered to give her a ride to the next time where she could call someone. So we got in my car and started to drive. She was still hysterical for the first ten minutes or so but then she began to get very quiet. I tried making small talk but she wasn't replying. The silence was uncomfortable. Then, she spoke in a hushed voice, "Its happening again..." Before I gad a chance to reply someone was in the road in front of me. I slammed on my breaks but it was no good. I slammed into the person at near-full speed. I barely had a moment to process what was happening. I stopped as quick as I could, but then I realized the girl wasn't sitting next to me in my car anymore. She was standing up in the middle of the road. Her eyes were glowing bright white and she was staring right at me. I floored the pedal and I drove around her. I got out of there as quick as I could. I never saw her again... So last night, my friend and I went out on a drive. I live near Chicago and we had heard about this road about an hour away from me called Bloods Point Road that was supposed to be haunted. We were curious so we went to check it out. We drove down the road and nothing remotely creepy happened. We didn't even get a creepy vibe from the road. We were disappointed. So we mapped the GPS to my house and headed home. We were in the mood for creepy so we started making up scary stories on the spot. I came up with the story I told above. Less than thirty seconds after I finished telling that story we saw some car coming towards us. They had their brights on like an arse and they started to line up more and more in front of us. It took a couple seconds to process what was going on. My first thought was that the road kind of curved but that wasn't it. They were driving head on at us, in our lane, at full speed. I swerved off the road and they barely missed us, and we barely missed the guard rail that started up less than a second after we got back on the road. I almost died last night and I cannot help at marvel at how weird it all was. Going to check out a haunted road, then telling a scary story about a car accident, and then nearly being flattened by some drunk driver in an SUV. I'm still a little in shock. I'm done with driving late at night for awhile now.

First off, welcome to my new blog! Not sure how much I'll actually be posting here, but that's not the point. One of the most prominent KOTOR2 mods there is the the M4-78 enhancement project, and I can't imagine that anybody who's looked into these mods at all hasn't heard about it. (Although that might just be because I have a poor imagination.) In any event, what many do not know is that there was another M4-78 mod made and released much earlier (2007, to be exact). Sith Holocron recently unearthed this mod, and, at his request, I have done a playthrough of it (if a bit of a rushed one) and am now reviewing it for all who are interested. According to the handy if basic walkthrough that is provided with the mod, there are now two computer terminals that refer to the planet and will give you datapads, which can then be used by T3-M4 to give you one more datapad which will allow you to travel to M4-78 via the Ebon Hawk's security panel. Using warps, I verified the existence of the terminals, but did not test the remaining parts of the leadup, having instead warped directly to M4-78 to play the planet. Suffice to say that the leadup to the planet gives plenty of mystery (and in a good way). On the other hand, M4-78 is not a part of the central story and instead takes the role of a side quest. Once you get to the actual planet itself, the gameplay is rather straightforward. You learn a little bit about the planet from a greeter droid, then go into the central zone where you meet L5-65, one of about five to ten nonhostile droids in the entire planet. He gives you a basic rundown of the situation (which is that the whole colony's been messed up), and then you can go right into the archon chamber to meet the archon IS-24. From there, you have to fight through one zone to get to the other archon, ES-05, then unlock and fight through the last zone to get to the central intelligence M4-78. Going through the zones consists almost entirely of fighting through a ton of droids that don't hit particularly hard, but have a lot of hitpoints, which makes the fights take extremely long for characters of lower levels (with better gear, you might get through faster, but later parts will still take a while). Once you get to the archon chambers, you just have to go through a long conversation and then move on. There are a couple of basic "puzzles" which consist of interacting with a terminal with the right datapad that was acquired either from the remains of an adversary or from one of the few nonhostile characters. For your trouble, you are rewarded at the end with knowledge and two superpowered lightsaber crystals. Unfortunately, a couple of bugs in the mod prevent progress, and so the entire planet cannot be experienced (some parts I saw, like the main behavior core, I could only get to using the cheat console). Storywise, through most of the mod, we get the story of the Sith being the colonists of the planet, but Archon ES-05 realizing that they were not the original colonists and releasing deadly radiation. The player's role is to reactivate the central intelligence unit M4-78. This is the same basic story that the current M4-78 EP has, and I believe it come from the original M4-78 files. Once you get to the end and talk to M4-78, there's an interesting backstory provided for the planet. The basic gist of it is that M4-78 was originally built by the Rakata of the Infinite Empire, and was more recently found and used by Revan for his conquests. Somehow, this is overlapped with the story of the Sith colonists, which really seems to be underdeveloped in this mod. It's an interesting little backstory, but there are also continuity issues in the form of a claim that both T3-M4 and G0-T0 were manufactured on M4-78. But in any event, the majority of the gameplay is really devoid of story. Other than that, I have elsewhere seen a basic "tour" of the data that was left in the game files when M4 was cut, and this mod appears to be pretty much just inserting that content back into the game with a couple of little additions such as some dialog. The only voiced character is IS-24, whose voice files (sounding quite similar to Dhagon Ghent's) were left in the files. There's really not much around besides a bunch of enemy droids and containers with random loot, with a few additions such as a workbench and two vendor droids, and of course the story-related material (found only in the main behavior core). Amusingly enough, this also has the result of the two Archons and M4-78 taking the form of the firaxa sharks from Manaan in KOTOR1 (which had been used as placeholders prior to the planet's being cut). Oh, and the Central and Environmental Zones are also apparently flooded with readiation, although this has no real effect other than limiting visibility. So, is this mod worth playing? In my opinion, it may have been nice to have back when there were no other M4-78 mods out there, but now we have the M4-78 EP, which is far superior. The gameplay is rather simplistic, almost entirely tedious fights with droids that have a lot of hitpoints, and the story is a bit less plausible and certainly less integrated than that in the EP. This mod is not a great addition to the game, but it is an interesting way to get a mostly accurate look at the remains of Obsidian's work on the planet, and gives me an appreciation for how much work went into the EP. Was this review helpful? Boring? Confusing? Let me know! -Eauxps I. Fourgott

Some of you may be aware that I have started Live streaming. Thank you to those who have already been For now it is just happening on my Youtube channel, but I do want to move over to Twitch at some point: Twitch.tv/MrXuul The basic premise of these streams are threefold: 1) To test mods for upcoming videos. This way I can get feedback, suggestions and just have some people to talk to while I go around looking at mods. Last week I covered at least 3 mods that are going to eventually be featured as showcases. This isn't just going to be a Kotor thing, but for the most part it will be. 2) To help people having issues with their mods. Everyday I see at least a dozen people asking for help with installing a mod or fixing one of the numerous things that can go wrong when messing around with a PC. during the streams I can give near instant feedback, and walk people through things until they understand. These "Mod Shop" sessions can help people in a way text and even recorded videos never have. Perhaps they just don't understand something really basic that no one mentioned. By watching me install the mod live and letting them ask questions I hope to make a format that will be both entertaining and informative. 3) To play some games. I rarely if ever get to actually PLAY a game nowadays. While my plan is to play Kotor (to build saves for my recorded let's play series) and to play SWTOR (for the same reason. I do plan to play some games just for fun. Sometime people might want to hang out and talk and such so why not stream it. Streaming games like Kotor and TSL will also let me test more long term mods (K1R and such) . They are hard beasts to cover since they would take weeks to cover normally and make no output for the channel. Still with me? Interested in stopping by? Well you are in luck. For the first time only I am actually planning ahead for once. On Friday Febuary 5th 7:00 PM MST (Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 2:00 AM UTC) I will be hosting a Kotor Mod testing/ Mod Shop session for a few hours. Obviously it is a bit late for some people but it is the only time that I have that works. If it works out well it might become a regular thing. (maybe at a different time). Everything about this is still in the beta stage right now so expect some issues. This post is mostly just a PSA, but if you have feedback and such let me know.

The history of community forums, the birth internet poker and the future of modding. I have a few unfinished blog entries; Security part 2, Wookies VS Bigfoot, Dianogas' Vegetarian resto-compactor investor prospectus,... Ok so some of those are not true but I am seriously thinking about them now! So keeping those unfinished blog entries hidden for now, I have decided to write about something else that has been on my mind for a few years now. Lucky you... I really wanted to write about my vision regarding the future of modding. I am hoping that some people will read it, maybe disagree and call me an idiot in the comment section. I don't moderate the comment section. Go nuts However now that I think of it, since I have written comments and threads over the years I think my thesis would benefit from another history to compare it to. Basically I believe that the future of modding will parallel history of community forums and internet poker. How'bout dem apples? The history and future of community forums. That was then, this is now. In order to glimpse into the future, you have to understand the past and know where you are in the present. Some people don't believe in the past or the future but only the present repeating itself over and over again now. So lets look at how it all started The modern forum originated from bulletin boards, and so-called computer conferencing systems, and are a technological evolution of the dialup bulletin board system. Bulletin board system; is a computer server running custom software that allows users to connect to the system using a terminal program. Once logged in, the user can perform functions such as uploading and downloading software and data, reading news and bulletins, and exchanging messages with other users through email, public message boards, and sometimes via direct chatting. The introduction of inexpensive dial-up internet service and the Mosaic web browser offered ease-of use and global access that BBS and online systems did not provide, and led to a rapid crash in the market starting in 1994. Online bulletin boards are sometimes referred to as message boards. Since 1994 and the introduction of inexpensive dial-up internet service and the Mosaic web browser many of the leading BBS software providers went bankrupt and tens of thousands of BBSs disappeared. Today, BBSing survives largely as a nostalgic hobby in most parts of the world, but it is still an extremely popular form of communication for Taiwanese youth and in China. If you click on the link above and scroll down to the bottom, there is a section called, "Shareware and freeware." Shareware and Freeware; Much of the shareware movement was started via user distribution of software through Bulletin board systems. The 1993 classic video game DOOM was distributed as shareware. When I think of the early days of the internet I also think of the wild west. It was a wide open space and everything was up for grabs. The early bulletin board forums were not only giving away freeware and shareware but they were also a place to speak to people about and share mods. From a technological standpoint, forums or boards are web applications managing user-generated content. They always has been and they always will continue to be. The earliest mods were shared the same way as they are today , except for the actual distribution which back then was through the mail. Just like the early days of Apple computers, people ordered parts from a black and white leaflet mail order catalogue. And you got the catalogue by sharing your address on a bulletin board. That is all the internet was back then. And if you made friends with the right person they would send you a floppy disk with a mod on it. That mod could be anything. It could be a that added new pictures of naked women or add new levels to text based computer games from the 1970's. Internet Poker In 2003 an unknown with the perfect marketing named Chris Moneymaker went and played a game of poker on an internet poker gaming website and won his paid entry into the 2003 World Series of Poker. Up until then, unless you were a degenerate gambler no one even knew that the WSOP even existed. He went on to win the main event, causing shock in the poker world, and beginning the poker boom. Within 10 years of that fateful day, young women and men from around the world now make their living playing poker. Once only a few could go to Vegas and play poker for hundreds of thousands of dollars and the best of the best would play for millions. Today it is happening all over the world. Kids are turning away from MIT and other university degrees and playing poker and there is even a World Poker Tour that these people play in. It is like a golf and tennis tour. It has become a legitimate profession. Who would of thought in 1980 that people would be able to make a living playing poker? Yet today it is as normal as any other sport or hobby. The Future of Modding. Six years ago I posted a theory in a gaming forum where I stated that some time in the future modders would soon be paid for their mods. I was rudely laughed at and made fun of. Now I am not some sort of futurist like Ray Kurzweil, I was already surfing the Asian forums for Neverwinter Nights mods while I was waiting for Team Gizka to finish their KOTOR II mod I was already a witness to what was and is going to be the future of modding. Private modding communities were selling mods. And it really exploded with The Sims and Oblivion. Oh they were already doing it for other popular Asian games but these two games were popular cross culturally and forums such as the Nexus and Loverslab were showcasing some of the mods that people purchased at these forums. Back then you didn't have to pay but earn points. You could purchase points and earn points. The modders at these Asian forums would make new hairs models, clothing, armours and even new races to play. Mostly different looking human females and other kemonomimi type races. That is humanoids with animal earls, like bunny ears, raccoons, cats... Today there are many small communities popping up where you join and if you want a certain mod then you have to sponsor the author who created. Sponsorships are I guess determined by the mod author. You are basically buying their work. I am proposing that some day in the future young women and men will be able to make a living creating mods. Just like the poker boom, where young people are today able to make a living play a game, like before them young people playing a sport, tomorrow young people will make money creating mods. And just like sports, poker not everyone will make it. Not everybody will be financially successfully. Right now there are teenagers making a six figure salary playing video games. They are like rock stars to nerds and geeks around the globe where kids sit and pay for tickets to watch them play a video game. This is just the beginning. I don't claim to know how exactly all this will turn out but it is a sure bet that your children will be buying mods like they buy music/songs from iTunes. Six years ago my vision was that large gaming communities like STEAM, VALVE, Moddb, Nexus would each have their own modding communities and the website itself would sponsor the popular and talented mod authors. They would get paid a small percentage for each download and maybe a percentage of the advertising on their member page. That was just my own idea of how it could be organized. To me it still makes sense that a large community forum like Steam could offer advertising space on a top mod authors member page and share the revenue with them. These are just the details, who cares really but the idea is there. Proof... here is one community where you have to sponsor authors to get access to hidden mods. The people who sponser them are called "patrons." They do offer public mods too but their good stuff are for their paying fans, here is another forum community for Fallout where you can only get the good mods if you earn enough points. These are just a couple of examples. It hasn't caught on here yet like out east but give it time, it will. I grew up learning about computers by watching my older brother and sister play with them. I have two older brother, one older sister and one younger sister. My eldest brother is 15 years older than me. My parents were married very young My older brother and I work together and we are very close. He has seen it all. He was an Apple geek when he was a kid and now spends his free time messing around with various Linux OS builds including some that I will write about in my Security blog entries. Few people could have predicted how the internet would change the world but some did. Who really knows the future of gaming but some do and there is no question in my mind that modding will play an important role in the future viability of the gaming industry. It may not play out exactly like I have written. These things rarely unfold so neatly, yet I can see the children of tomorrow spending there time creating a mod and making some extra spending money from it. Most of them will make a few bucks. Hey not everybody becomes a world champion sports player. Only the best of the best even make it to the big leagues. The same holds true for poker players today and video game professionals today. Sounds funny eh? Video game professionals LoL Like this forum asked for people members to buy a membership to help offset the cost of running the community, it only makes sense to me that ten years from now the costs will be much, much greater and people will have to purchase some sort of membership even just to enter the forum. people will be able to browse the forum freely by if they want to try old the gold plated TSLRCM 2.3.1 Directors Cut version they will have to buy a membership or possibly even purchase the mod itself in some way, shape or form. Who wudda thunk it eh? PS. This entry has not been edited yet and may never be. Any complaints regarding spelling and grammar should be sent to the .

http://goldenarmor.com/holocron/ Holocron making- you can get the kit for a 3-sided one or a 4-sided one. You can get the full one, but if you want to learn how to make a holocron, I suggest you get the kit. You can make a Jedi holocron. You can choose your cogs. Did you know?: Sith holocrons have a curse in Aurebesh for students unworthy to become Sith.

Several points of advice which are worth knowing: - Planning now means less time revising, fiddling, dawdling, and wasting time later; - Reading tutorials is never time wasted; - If you don't know how, read the tutorial, test the result, and then go and ask - it's the only way to learn; - 90% of the work goes into 90% of the mod; the other 10% of the mod requires another 90% of the work; - If you can't find the bug, it's probably very, very simple, and very, very obvious; - Label unique files with a unique modder identifier (e.g.: I start most files with "di_"); this saves you time, eases compatibility, and makes it easier to tell which mod (and by whom) any file is. Which is a huge help to people working on stuff. That's all for now.

I do apologise for the excessive wait... Running log #006... This was it. The last stand. The final culmination of several years' worth of Mandalorian victories, countered by Revan's involvement, thus causing a sudden fall in the amount of success we had, eventually driving us back here. Malachor V. We would have rather fought the Ani'la Akaan anywhere else, but the simple fact of the matter is that there was nowhere else to go. Revan's forces had us hemmed in. It was either take the fight to Malachor or surrender to the Republic. And Revan knew our reluctance. He knew it and used it to his advantage. But ancient taboos so old that most Mandalorians couldn't even remember their origins had no place in this war, so we tried to ignore our feelings on the location and simply put up the best damned fight we ever had. We now know that it was a mistake to go to that place, not because of any tradition or anything, but because at the time we knew nothing of Mass Shadow Generator. With hindsight, it seems obvious now that if Revan didn't have a weapon of mass destruction ready to obliterate our entire fleet at his command, then he would've sent a far, far larger force in against us. To this day I still think that Revan denied us a fair fight in that battle, using secret weapons and the dark power of the planet itself to give him and his Jedi soldiers the edge. Without the Fore Nexus that was the Trayus Core (yes, I know of the Sith artefacts held on the surface of the planet) he would never have been able to kill Mandalore the Ultimate, and without the MSG, he never would've been able to take down our fleet. It was really the death of our leader that marked the turning point of the battle. It stripped us of absolute coordination, forcing myself to take tactical control and Canderous to lead the forces in combat. It felt like we were leading another early battle, except we didn't win. And I blame mainly Canderous for it going so rapidly downhill. He wasn't fit to lead in that battle. He was a good fighter, that can't be denied, but he was one of those who were still apprehensive toward fighting on Malachor. I honestly didn't care about the location, as long as all of us gave it our absolute best and made the Republic fear our might even in death. And there is no place in command for people who don't want to fight. Still, we fought on as best we wanted to. Then the Mass Shadow Generator was powered up, when Revan realised we weren't going to give up before dying. It was a coward's tactic. To send your own troops to their deaths purely for the purpose of defeating the enemy. Regardless of what people say about sacrifice and all of that osik, there is no honourable way to kill off your own people and make it look like an act of courage. The action did its job perfectly, it must be said. It killed most of us, and the rest surrendered. I didn't, however. I took my chances, running the Republic line when they least expected it and making the jump to hyperspace as soon as I could. I hit Nar Shaddaa, taking my personal strike team with me (I'll tell you about them later) and getting lost in the crowd. I think that's enough. My actions after the war will follow when I get round to recording it. END OF LOG #006 I do hope it's been worth the wait.
