Just because we seem to be sharing more depressing Game Journalist articles, here's what happened when Disney actually took over. https://kotaku.com/the-last-months-of-lucasarts-472038151 I'm starting to get the feeling that anything related to Star Wars has such a dramatic backstory since on one hand, creating things for the IP is amazing, yet there is so much bad blood in the development and publishing side of it. For the record, the Star Wars novelists weren't any friendlier with each other.

Well, theres a Eurogamer article for that, too. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-05-04-free-radical-vs-the-monsters TLDR: Start at the first mention of Darrel Rodrigues and you will see that the Publisher Lucasarts was cutting every corner they could. Free Radical was in just as tough of a position as Obsidian was during this time and even managed to finish with some resemblence of a game. The only difference here is that Lucasarts cancelled Battlefront 3 and started to focus on less "risky" ventures like Star Wars Kinect. (I would be interested behind what happened with The Force Unleashed 2, but I have a feeling it was a similar one) BTW, you do not want to hear what happened when Disney took over. It's kind of equally depressing.

Unarmed Handmaiden build viability?
Malkior replied to Mellowtron11's topic in Knights of the Old Republic General
There are a couple of Unarmed feats that can make her quite effective without the staff. I tend to use her without it just for the variety it brings to combat. Her staff obviously has many bonuses that give it a distinct advantage in damage, of course.. In fact, Atton is particularly useful using Ranged behavior instead of Aggressive because of how good he is at unarmed combat (Coming from the Echani training, I believe) -
Didn't the Maintenance officer say all of the droids repaired the ship? That would mean either HK ordered them to or T3 knew how to access them using HK's reprogramming. Which could also mean that T3 could have potentially saved the miners but either couldn't or chose not to in favor of leaving the station.

This is such an amazing idea. Personally I felt that Vash was too cool to just kill off in the , but with a mod like this we could see the more OT Jedi side to things what with Force Ghosts. Plus, Vash could sort of have a "happier" ending since being a Force Ghost basically means that person became one with the Force rather than outright dying.

Well, I wouldn't go that far.. Just none of the modern versions of those things. (violence is kind of less grindhouse since cuts are cauterized, but still) Also, Star Wars has its own diverse vocabulary of in-universe profanity. ...but I'm getting off topic.

Have him panic and then get shot by the sith in self-defense?

They also used the resources from Metal Gear Solid 3 to make a Japanese Pachinko slot machine instead of remastering it as they teased.

I'm away from my computer ATM currently so I can't verify, but I believe FXAA or SMAA (the antialising that Reshade/SweetFX uses) are to blame. To change it you need to find the SweetFX_settings ini (or txt depending on your version) and edit the lines with those two settings (FXAA and SMAA) to lower the blurring amount. There are comments everywhere on the ini where each setting is, but if you need help, there are guides online on how to edit them. If no one replies to this topic, send me a PM, and when I get back next week, I can walk you through it.

I was considering poison gas, but I wanted to avoid confusing the audience as to how lethal it was and forcing a character to act 'out of character' by blurting out what it was. (Similar to Qui Gon's "dioxyn" statement in TPM: basically, if he could tell what it was by smelling/breathing it, then how was he not dying from it? More to the point, what good would it do for Bao if HK tells him what is already killing him?)
-
An alternative to turrets could be a pretty easy thing to achieve. My first thought is that Bao Dur becomes trapped either by having emergency doors close around him while he's busy working on something and being thusly shot, or by simply being surrounded by enemies where HK would say something like "Situation Untenable" to reflect how he's still a machine and Bao makes his peace as he's gunned down. (man this is such a downer... )

Out of curiosity, is the title of this thread a reference of some kind? Regardless, thanks for keeping us informed and for you know, fixing all of the problems with the site.

I respectfully disagree. Heir to the Empire is almost entirely from the perspective of the new Empire and Luke being abandoned alone on a dangerous mission. He never gathers a crew nor ends up on the Chimera (Thrawn's flagship) to rescue anyone. The New Empire doesn't even rely on Superweapons but rather on secrecy and superior maneuvering. The New Republic only wins because of dumb luck (Leia not being discovered by Thrawn and his misinterpretation when he finds out she was there) and because Luke saves another super powerful force user who may or may not be more powerful than himself. The Thrawn Trilogy had an entirely different tone with large space battles and technology its biggest ties to even being a Star Wars series. While I would love for them to be adapted as the New Trilogy, IMHO Disney has made it clear that the sort of exposition and characterization from Zahn's writing would be far too complex for their far more polarized view of character and story.

I'm not happy about it either. However, I have kept my mouth shut about it because there are people who enjoy it. Maybe I'm from a different wavelength or maybe it's an age thing, but if there's an audience for it then there is no reason to insult them by reminding them of how much I hate it. There's no place to voice my displeasure aside from the few echo chambers in a select comment section, so while I completely understand and even agree with your criticism of what Disney did with The Star Wars licence, there's simply no reason to bring it up out of the blue in a hype section for Disney's next project. (I've since focused my energies on reminding folks of how cool the EU was and supporting projects like EAW mods Thrawn's Revenge and Awakening of the Rebellion which seek to preserve the EU canon. So perhaps that's the best we can do in the mean time... )

These recent tools are amazing! In one motion you apparently made TXI files obsolete and Photoshop unecessary for animations. I am looking forward to trying these out.

You would essentially need to have one screen with a bunch of radio buttons for the modules before each install which I think TSLPatcher doesn't functionally support.

Just a word of warning, right now the servers aren't working, so if you already have a good working multiplayer through mods, it might be better to avoid updating until this is fixed. [GOG has posted a statement that they are in the process of fixing it] Also word on the forums says that Compatibility mode is also broken in the new update, so playing with your game updated while on XP may not be possible. Lastly, Gameranger seems to also have been broken by the new update, so there's that. (Bottom line, make sure you copy/backup your executable before updating)

It's hard to see without comparing the capital letters (The scale on the site only uses one per font) However, based on what I've observed, Prakika Extended looks to be the closest to the original menu font while actually being a bit easier to read due to how balanced the weight is.

It wouldn't hurt to keep an archive of some mods, as modding is in a dire state with Bethesda rolling out more Creation Club content for Skyrim, and I wouldn't put it past them to eventually attack the Nexus.

I like how this mod allows you to look past the (quite literal) smoke and mirrors of the games and to appreciate the actual game artwork. I might in the minority, but one thing that really shows this game's age to me is how basic the smoke and particles look compared to the semi-decent lighting and reasonably well made textures. Also, I can't imagine how tedious it was tracking down all of those particle effects, so all in all, most impressive..

Well, technically Fairstrides walked me through the entire process, but that's exactly what I did for the mod. I created a bunch of Strings for the new descriptions and then injected them into the GFF files and added them to Append.tlk. I believe the TSLPatcher doesn't actually edit the Dialog.tlk, but rather uses the Append.tlk to add entries. (I'm not sure about the technicals, but there are certain to be others on DS who could tell you more)

Integrated Graphics Mod (Please help! :D )
Malkior replied to trevuar25's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I believe that is because putting a GIT into the override folder overrides certain parts such as the camera triggers. I remember when testing some GIT changes for the Peragus Redux mod, the animation you see when you first enter the room didn't play until I walked to the zone the actual trigger was. I believe there are others on this forum that can explain why in more detail, but the gist of it is, putting a GIT file in the override does this. -
Well, color me impressed. I had no idea Chris Avellone wrote those.. I guess I was thinking of the other Kotor behind the scenes stories. (That Rakghoul arc that basically went nowhere for example) Also, I thought Miralukas were brought in specifically for Kotor. Thanks for the clarification, man. My opinion regarding validating the EU, is that if the property was created by the many publications during the EU, then it should be the final source on what is or isn't true. If someone during the new establishment of Expanded Content decides a property from the past should be added into the new Canon, then they should respect its origin rather than retconning everything about it and retaining its name. If they want something similar, then just call it a different name as their new universe should be able to stand on its own content.

That "comic" everyone is referring to was a what if scenario, so even if anyone holds it up as canon its validity is dubious at best. Second, how do you figure she is a councilor type? Are you referring to her player class or personal philosophy; because, let me tell you, in game she only exists to fight and to do her "master's" bidding. Her council is more or less whatever her master told her and that is almost the antithesis of what a councilor is.
