  1. If I recall accurately, when FS and I worked on A Darker Peragus Redux, we fixed the issue by changing the placeable color for quite a few objects in the GIT. So, basically what you say about "faking it".
  2. Try changing the fps in the TXI. It's currently set to change frames 60 times every second, which is basically a visible flicker to the naked eye.
  3. Hmm. That does indeed sound extreme. Is there a possible method of just removing the information from the UVW map? (Apologies if what I'm saying makes no sense. Of all areas of texturing, I know the least about the actual skinning process..)
  4. I've been pondering this for quite some time, frankly to once and for all fix the issue of inner model geometry showing when a character is turned into a hologram. After so long we finally have people who understand the models to actually do this. The issue I speak of is to the best of my knowledge because Obsidian decided instead of having a unique effect texture for holograms (As was the case in Kotor 1), they would instead just run a hologram filter over the character models themselves. This, I theorize caused unforeseen consequences such as the geometry of the eyes, teeth, and gums suddenly becoming visible of which looks frankly downright freaky. I have previously attempted to mitigate this effect by manually painting the texture with a color that blends in better, but it only works on a few and doesn't work at all on some like the Peragus Medical Officer. So, I want to know is, if indeed the issue is being caused by extra geometry in the model, could I somehow remove it from rendering or if perhaps there's a better way? - Yes, I will upload screenshots to illustrate the problem I'm attempting to describe.
  5. They're definitely looking closer to the cutscenes for sure. For the record THAT noise in the cloud level is what made me abandon Terragen for most if not all of my skybox projects. I don't know if it's the renderer or what, but it just ruins an otherwise awesome cloudscape.
  6. I am personally all about this kind of detail. The Enclave is supposed to be some kind of refuge for the jedi so it would only make sense that there would be more around the main building than just the Masters and the few Padawans milling about. Plus, it would add a sort of drama to the final confrontation with Malak, since you might actually have some sort of connection to the jedi he's draining; perhaps causing some to hesitate in letting him drain them all for the sheer convenience.
  7. I think the bigger issue is the lack of dismemberment in any of the Kotor games. (except for the arm holding datapad placeable or Malak's jaw) It would be internally inconsistent as there should be piles of assorted limbs once you get your lightsaber for the first time. (Also when you pick up a giant sword and hack sith soldiers up in the Sith Base and/or hack Black Vulkars up if you decide to steal the prototype engine) While I would totally support a mod that turns Rated-T Kotor into M territory, it would require revamping the entire combat animation system and adding new more "realistic" cutscenes for it to make sense. EDIT Not to mention that vibroblades and Gamorrean axes would not cauterize on contact and thus there would be blood in a Star Wars game.
  8. For this, I think a bunch of burn marks would makes the most sense, as the Sith are using blasters and sabers for the most part. (BTW, vibroblades would lead to some gnarly injuries as the blade is basically a chainsaw in how fast it vibrates; So you're doing far worse to the Sith soldiers when you melee them. )
  9. Man, there were so many great mods this year. Choosing the best was quite difficult.
  10. I fully support this design and more options are generally better for the game. How could a sith whelp get away with insulting the same jedi/sith who tangled with Malak and won, anyway? One thing I noticed
  11. That's an interesting thought. What would the Massassi temple have for a landing pad? Plus, I don't remember Kotor having you actually land on the planet. Would this also be for BOSSR, or some other like mod expansion?
  12. I've gotten a similar thing in the past (a redirect that lead to a red screen with basically the same deal about "my hardrive may be damaged and to do a computer scan") My theory is it could be something to do with Adsense or Adchoices if you happen to use them (They have a history of bad popups in the past) Regardless, it may be prudent to get a screen capture if this issue continues for others.
  13. And it shows. You've captured that sense of uncertainty and dread felt by the Jedi Council so well, as any action they do could and will have catastrophic consequences. You really feel like they're the ruling party during its last days of stability fighting a losing battle to maintain the peace. I totally agree with you about how the comics handled Revan and Malek. It just felt incongruous to the cold reception you get on Dantooine, especially if the Council already knew about them leaving and even accepted it. -Personally, I felt the few chapters about Revan and Malek in the comics were the weakest aside from that Vector Arc (Man, that was bad), but overall the comics have held up otherwise.- Yeah, I completely understand why Chris Avellone wasn't a fan of the "proper" Basilisks, but I still think he didn't "get" the awesomeness of the notion of guys in medieval power armor, riding giant robot dragons while wielding giant m60 plasma machine guns (I mean, I at least want a poster of that ) Anyway, that aside, this is looking to be an amazing movie and I'm loving your attention to detail and general treatment of the themes and characters.
  14. I love how on-point the dialogue is. It feels like a cool successor to the Kotor comic series and a sort of bridge between the two storylines The Mandalorians invading Taris and Alek Squin-whatshisname deciding that inaction was basically the same as leaving countless worlds to die were nice to see in the Kotor engine. Are you planning to have any other events mentioned in both the comics and games (Like Serroco, the jedi who killed their students, or Mandalorians actually riding Basilisks) in the project?
  15. First, I want you to know that your work is quite amazing, so I mean no insult to your design. My only problem I have with the Mark One design is how the small hands look quite out of place on the sheer size of the rest of it. Functionally, since this is foremost a combat model, human sized hands would snap off during melee combat or if it ran into anything. Since the Mark One specifically has a ramming animation, the possibility is high that the hands would see a great deal of applied stress. Also, I feel I may be in the minority, but the Protocol Droid pauldrons don't make sense to me. Would it be possible to create a "pauldronless" model, optionally? [sH, I will edit this out and create a new request thread if it is]
  16. Now the original title of this Topic has new credence. Lootboxes are looking to be universally banned in Belgium and some Representatives Hawaii are apparently rallying to stop them in the US. http://www.pcgamer.com/belgium-says-loot-boxes-are-gambling-wants-them-banned-in-europe/ http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2017/11/21/the-state-of-hawaii-investigating-ea-for-predatory-practices.aspx EA is in huge trouble for putting this increasingly controversial component into their game and indeed for using the Star Wars label to do it.
  17. Check out Dark TImes 2 Rising Son http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-dark-times/news/dark-times-ii-rising-son-released1 and possibly the Battlefront Conversion Pack for those sweet Battlefront 1 maps plus apparently quite a few more http://www.moddb.com/mods/star-wars-battlefront-conversion-pack They both make the game look great and add a lot of replayability due to the sheer number of playable maps and modes. Additionally, it seems someone decided to make a bunch of graphical upgrades on Moddb within the last few months, and although I've never tried them out myself, they look pretty sweet.
  18. Perhaps you were reading about Euclidean geometry earlier and your brain returned something from those studies? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finsler_manifold -Edit Man, that joke was a long shot
  19. I have found no mention or links to projects specifically to edit GFFs. However, in my searching I stumbled upon the Xoreos discussion where you could theoretically convert the GFF files to XML, and I know there are a few XML editor Apps out there. Perhaps that's a place we could start in designing something similar? Alternatively, some Reddit threads mentioned a way to make KSE work on Android, so instead we might use this information to rebuild something like KGFF for it.
  20. It's simply impossible to give them the benefit of the doubt at this point. They were being investigated for potentially getting their game banned and I'm sure the widespread bad press wreaked havok on their stock. This was an act of desperation and even a promise that they would return once the dust settles. It might be amusing to see how much their game functions when the key component is forcibly removed from it, but by no means do they have anyone else's best interests at heart.
  21. They just did the AMA.. From what I hear, it went predictably but not in a good way. https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7d4qft/star_wars_battlefront_ii_dice_developer_ama/
  22. Pretty useful if you're tired of having to go to the item mini-menu every battle. Since you can't just use a shortcut key to activate shields, it's an extra pain.
  23. The TSLPatcher is designed with exactly that in mind. Based on my somewhat limited understanding of the process, it creates an Append.tlk file and then uses it to overwrite the existing Dialog.tlk . Do you happen to have the documentation with the download? The PDF is a fantastic guide on how to set up new dialogue or strings.
  24. Yes it is. However, this looks like the "stealth field" pattern you see before the character becomes invisible. Have you tried checking your graphical settings in the game menu to see if Frame Buffer Effects is checked? I remember way back when, my computer didn't support them, so I had them unchecked with similar results. I am also lead to believe this since the droid overlay, premonition effect, and stealth effect are Frame Effects, IIRC.
  25. I suppose I should rescind that statement.. There was only one big conflict I could find mostly centering around author Karen Traviss and Timothy Zahn in killing off his character, Mara Jade without his permission and was even being kept in the dark by Del Rey about the decision. Apparently Traviss had "creative differences" with the rest of the authors, so maybe it was just friction between her and everyone else. However, there is surpringly little about what went on between the publishing firm "Lucasbooks" and its authors possibly due to how games tend to get more publicity, so I can only speculate beyond that.
