Oh, where to begin?
First of all, Happy 40th Birthday Star Wars. And what better way to celebrate than by finishing my current KotOR playthrough today. I've been recording this current playthrough(with obvious, redundant gaps and no movies), and all in all I have about 46 hours (256 GB) to sift through.
Why? Because I'm actually going to be using my YouTube Channel for something that'll keep my post-production skills sharp: Reviews and Analysis videos.
Now, there may be those of you asking "Why review a game that is so old like KotOR? Wouldn't it make sense to review newer games that are coming out?" I have two reasons for doing things this way. The first is because my laptop's hardware isn't up to par to run newer games that are coming out today. If you must know, here are my specs:
Model: ASUS G46VW OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU: Intel i5 3230M @ 2.6GHz HDD: 750GB 5400RPM SATA RAM: 8GB (4GB x 2) DDR3 1600MHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 2GB
Most modern games I barely meet the minimum required hardware in at least one of these fields. Some games (I'm looking at you, Witcher 3) would never be able to run on this laptop.
The second reason is because I've found that there are in fact gamers who've never heard of many of the older titles that have helped define what a video game should be. I feel sad whenever I mention KotOR in an environment of people who have never played it, and I know I'm not the only one. And KotOR is just one example.
With all that said, now to the reason why I've decided to do two different videos. I originally just wanted to do simple reviews. However, I believe that reviews should give away as little information as possible and yet still be informative enough to help a potential customer decide whether a work of fiction is for them or not. When it comes to games, there's usually a lot more to talk about regarding certain spoiler-ish topics, and I want to be able to share my thoughts as well. That's where the spoiler-filled in-depth analysis comes in.
One other thing that needs mentioning: No, I will not be leaving modding behind, it just has to make room for this other new activity. I will make sure the community here knows when they can watch my review of KotOR. Until then...
DarthTyren has spoken.
I'm new to this, so bare with me as I get used to the notion of blogging my updates on my films.
As of now, the third film in my series "Legacy of the Sith" stands at around 90% done, I'm currently working on filming/editing the final few scenes. I'm really happy with this film so far, I've been working on it since around April 2016 as I think it's my best work yet, it's the most exciting of the series so far, with some large action set pieces, and thanks to the help of Jenks (known as Jenko here) I've learnt how to write custom scripts to trigger some neat looking animations in the game.
I'll post a more in-depth blog post in the near future, for now, I'm back to work on finishing this film.
You can check out the full theatrical trailer here:
By the way, would anyone be interested in a tutorial series on how I create my films? I've had several requests on YouTube and a few on here on how I create certain sequences, I'd probably be looking into it after finishing the final film some time next year, let me know!
I have a number of characters that I've created on SWTOR but I think I probably should have made my Sith Inquisitor light sided as I found the Chapter 3 ending a better one when going light sided. I've decided to redo my Inquisitor using the same character design.
My legacy name is "Sev'n-ate" as a play on M4-78. (Har har.)
Any suggestions on a character name that breaks the original mold? Character List
Journal Entry 51 Burk'yc Prudii Two years and five months after Mandalore the Ultimate's demise at the hands of Revan.
This planet has become almost nostalgic. It reminds me of Dxun before the War, back when we trained Mando's in swamps, caves, and rivers. On Dxun some beasts were intelligent, others brainless. Here looks like a Republic recruiting holovid of the "outer rim." Looks can be deceiving, though. Herds of wild Rancor, sea serpents, and savage natives that eat the flesh of their enemies, are a constant threat. My people are broken, shattered like the planet we died at, Malachor 5.
Were it not for the constant battle refining us and giving us immediate purpose. . .
I cannot even imagine.
At times, it is overwhelming, no Mandalore. No leadership. No mission. No glory. No conquest. Nothing but the void, to satisfy a warrior's need. I can't allow myself to focus on the past. For it was the past, that brought me to this island. A lust for revenge, at any cost, I thought. What a fool I was.
Revan... Malak.... The Republic....
The only thing that matters now, is getting my people off this forsaken rock!
Entry 110: Two years and seven months after Mandalore the Ultimate's demise at the hands of Revan.
A Jedi has been spotted on the island. Perhaps, it's time to let go of the past and focus on the future, if I can get the Jedi to work for me, then we can get off this planet. I can't imagine the Jedi's come here to do anything but fight the Sith and leave, which is exactly what I need the jedi to do.
I've sent men to intercept the Jedi before the Jedi attempts to enter the Temple.

As of a week ago, my home desktop has been getting serious hardware errors (bluescreen of death, specifically), and performance has degraded to nearly the point of programs flat-out freezing at some points.
Unfortunately, this is my only computer I can mod with, so I have to repair it in order to continue making the mods I already started.
I have only a very limited amount of experience in repairing computers, so I might need some one-on-one assistance in actually fixing it.
All I can really tell is that after turning my computer on after about a week away, it showed the infamous Bluescreen of Death and restarted. After the restart, I installed the newest Malwarebytes on the off chance that my AV (Avast) missed something but that returned negative, save some PUPS (potentionally unwanted programs) from an AV I installed a while back which has never caused me these kinds of problems. After the scan, my computer worked fine for a few hours until it restarted via another Bluescreen error with the new issue that my internet adapter suddenly stopped functioning. This happened an additional time following.
Here are my computer's Physical Specs

If need be, I have the Windows 7 disk I bought nearby to reinstall/wipe the Hard Drive, but I hope it doesn't come to that.
Additionally, I'm in the market to find a decent priced laptop with similar specs, so if you have any potential ideas, I'd be interested in hearing about them.
The jury is decidely out on the "happy" part, but today is indeed my birthday. The grand 21 milestone, where most people would get drunk, do drugs, go to a strip club, or some combination of the three and more stuff.
I might drink, but won't try to get drunk, do not and have no intention of doing drugs, and I was walking past the strip club a day too early on the way to mini-golf with my brothers.
No, instead I was on the receiving end of a t-bone collision as a passenger at a very bad intersection up in the hills. I can definitely say a few things I learned:
1. A Honda Accord does not win against a Hummer. 2. A glancing blow from swerving is a hell of a lot better than a steamroll. 3. Seatbelts hurt my chest, but damn if they don't save my ass.
In short, I am okay. The Honda is totalled (the Hummer impacted on the driver's front fender), the Hummer has a buckled frame from aiming for and landing in the ditch when they tried to swerve to avoid us, and everybody is sore, but no broken bones and thankfully no fatalities.
I am not going to school tomorrow (but literally, that's only because the doctor recommended against it) and am spending the next few days not doing much of anything. So if anyone wants to chat on Skype or Discord, feel free; I'm not going anywhere.
This original version of this tutorial I found ages ago on the Massassi Temple site. It was written by Tobbi Dala and the original version of the tutorial can be found through this link. What I've done here is to do some minor spelling corrections, add new pictures that show the tutorial using the most current version of Goldwave (the main program used in this tutorial) as of 20APR2017, and to provide new permanent links to 2 audio files needed for the tutorial.
After the large tutorial quote, I'll be showing examples in this tutorial in action. I asked Zhaboka to record some lines that would be used to illustrate the tutorial in action and he was kind enough to assist. (Zhaboka's line replaces the line that the original tutorial grabbed from Mysteries of the Sith.)
Now here's what the sound files sound like - so you can hear it for yourself! The lines will first appear without the filter and then with the filter.
Special Thanks to:
Tobbi Dala (of Massassi Temple), the original creator of the tutorial.
Zhaboka: For recording new lines.
HK-47: To extracting the line as it appeared on the original tutorial. Though it wasn't used here - as I used Zhaboka's new lines instead - the effort was and is most appreciated.
On the X-Box, the following trailers apparently played before the KOTOR games officially started. I've only ever played the game on PC so I've missed out on this factoid until recently.
Here's the one for Knights of the Old Republic.
And here's the one of Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.
I was wondering if anyone has the KOTOR movie making chops to remake the video using highest resolution - while keeping the original audio of the clips?
With all of the talent that's out there, I imagine a few of you are up to this sort of challenge - especially if they can put in their own favorite versions of the main character to replace the nameless Exiles and Revans in the videos.
One more note:
In addition, folks might want to change the following portion in the KOTOR2 trailer
In my recent blog post, I was asking folks for their input on rebuilding my old Windows 7 computer. It's time for an update!
Here's the part breakdown . . .
iBuypower ARC 647 CASE ATX Mid Tower Case (unchanged from original)
Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler (a recent purchase but before this build)
PowerColor Radeon R9 270X 2GB Video Card (unchanged from original) Update (as of 09JAN2019): Radeon RX 580
LG UH12NS30 Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer (unchanged from original)
Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K4 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Western Digital Blue 4TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
CORSAIR Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 300
Cooler Master SickleFlow (Red) 69.7 CFM 120mm Fan (I had to replace a fan in front, more on that below)
NZXT Sleeved LED Kit - red - 1m (12 LEDs)
Here's a "before" picture for you with all of the old equipment, with the side off. You might note that there's a small fan between that huge light brown Noctua fan and the side of the case. That fan - a red LED fan - was moved to the front of the case in the build. It joins another red LED fan that was purchased to replace an old one.
Here's the case emptied out.
The Intel chip is installed in the motherboard.
Power supply installed. Better look at the fan that was later moved to the front.
The monstrous fan is put back in.
As you can see above, the Corsair RAM almost could not make it in due to the large fan size. That RAM has red LEDs in them.
Are you seeing a red theme in this build yet? It's interesting to me because the original build had a blue cathode light bar. That red band on the side of the case should have convinced me to go with a red light bar in the first place.
I wanted some red lights in there besides the RAM so I went with the lighting kit listed above. I wanted it subtle so I placed the LEDs just outside of view of the window so there would be a faint glow rather than something more Vegas styled.
Here's the back of the case.
Side panel reinstalled, with room lights on.
Front of the case, in low light conditions.
Side of the case, in low light conditions.
This process has not been without a headache. After installing the Windows 7 back on the computer, I discovered (after the fact) that Windows 7 computers do not recognize drives above 2TB because a partition type called MBR. It has to be a GPT type to do that. However - and here comes a catch 22 - you can't install Windows 7 on a GPT drive.
But I do still have a Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive from the original build which I'll be installing back into the computer. The Windows 7 will install on there, enabling me to changine the parititon scheme on the 4TB drive from MBR to GPT. I just have to have the time and patience to get back into the computer to install that drive. In the mean time, I can certainly make do with 2TB as it's more than what I had before!
I'm one of those old folks that like to use Windows event sounds. Mine mostly came from this video.
(I also added a few myself from other sources.) I might be able to part with them if you PM me. (This offer may be retracted at any time.)
Thanks so much to Th3bigM00se to helping me put this together. (He did most of the work.) You can visit his Youtube channel here! (Be nice, folks!)
Guys, i was looking in the Movies files, if there was something interresting (mainly because i searched for cutscenes, where the Visionary and Ravager was included). Now you can guess 20 times what it is, but no! I want to share it with you. The Movie is called "MalMov06.bik". But why talking, if i can show it you!
One thing that I think is an easy win in making KotOR more enjoyable is simply increasing the polycount on the different models. One click to tesselate the head model for the female NPC Twileks dulled the blade-like leeku on her head and made her look incredible. I hope to have a mod for it soon so everyone can enjoy this simple yet really effective mod in making KotOR a more modern looking game to be enjoyed by newcomers and old timers.
Hey there! You will be most likely be completely lost in you don't do Jedi Knight mods.
I need to get a particular wave from Mysteries of the Sith, the add-on pack from Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. The WAV file is named "rc61121.wav" and it can be found in the MOTS' JKMsndLO.goo. Thanks!
List any bugs here, if you want.
Give any feedback here, if you want.
Insert any random comments here, if you want.
You get where this is going.....
So let's switch over to something new. Shanilia updates may happen after I patch whatever bugs arise. I didn't want to rush production and release more content to Shanila, without first making sure that everything is 100% straightened out. Wait what? You didn't test Shanilia out JC2? No, I did. But bugs can arise and feedback (hopefully) will come with suggestions to fix, replace, modify, add, remove certain aspects.
The idea is to polish, before adding more. And to be honest, I have become biased and glued to the character myself and another have created. Hard to see the issues, problems, misconceptions, plot holes, etc...
News/ potential future of Shanilia
If people actually like Shanilia, here's the possible next steps. >Add Sidequest >Bring in backstory for Ferroh (accidentally misspelled as seen in the screenshot) >Introduce Hynpar >Incorporate those two characters into sidequest >Add lightsaber >Possibly add an alternative ending, as suggested by a respected modder
That's about it, if you have any ideas, then feel free to share them.
The premise is that you have up to 2,000 dollars of pretend money to spend. What sort of computer could I get for that? Assume I have a mouse and keyboard - everything else is up for grabs. It would also have to be able to play SWTOR on maximum settings.
Have at it - and provide links and pictures if possible, please!
Update: Instead of creating a whole new computer, I plan to rebuild my current computer. For reasons, I plan to stay with Windows 7 for the time being. Here are the parts I plan to carry over to the new computer.
iBuypower ARC 647 CASE ATX Mid Tower Case
PowerColor Radeon R9 270X 2GB Video Card
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (I will likely add another Hard Drive as well though.)
Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler
LG UH12NS30 Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 OEM 64-bit
I will be updating my drafts for the computer with this list on PCPartPicker.com.
Could someone please rip me all structures of KotOR 1 & 2? I need them for a big project, the problem is: I don't know how to add on them roof's. I Also accept Korriban's Dreshdae, Korriban's Towers (Where's One collapsed) and statues. No i don't mean the whole levels , i just mean buildings like the Sandrals Estate or the Rakatan Temple.
Please help me. Thx.
Well it's been a little while, hasn't it? Mostly my fault, though. Been busy with school and working on the Toolset mostly, plus there's the usual fun with DnD every week.
I'm wanting to do another stream or two soon (I figure probably another US-and-then-EU session). I'm debating on continuing with the scripting because it's occurred to me that going anywhere from here requires and understanding of at the last the basic components of the game and the tools, so I might do a stream just on those subjects...
I'm also not going to be able to do a Saturday or Sunday stream due to the schedule. At the very least, I can probably do a session on a Thursday night (bear in mind, I'm PST UTC - 8) and then another on the following Friday morning.
What do you guys think? Should I go over the basics or keep going with the scripting? And what do you think about your schedules versus my availability? Also, if anyone ever wants to go into a particular aspect, they are always free to make the suggestion and I'll do my best to get around to it.
I'm so hyped about modding! I've been learning, and smashing my head against the keyboard for three days straight. Hardly even eating... wow... Stayed up to five a.m. two of those days...
Anyways, just wanted to let the community know how thankful I am.
Deadlystream is an amazing place, most people are kind/helpful. The rest I haven't seem to run into yet..... there might be one out there idk. ^^
To anyone who reads this...
HAVE A NICE DAY!
Shanilia Grey Jedi Merchant mod still does not have a release date But an early estimate puts the release date somewhere around March 10th, most likely before that. If you would like to beta test that, please message me or leave a comment. I'll need/want someone to beta test eventually, not yet though.
Note to self: put on WIP thread about beta tester....
Further note to self: Don't give up!
Moving back to you, it doesn't matter how old my mods get. Please post feedback on the reviews!
Save Mission was an idea Darth'a'Barbar had, though I edited it and came up with all the dialogue choices. He deserves credit for the idea! Enslave Zaalbar was inspired by my procrastination (and Save Mission) to tackle this massive dlg file that I will have to create mabye a dozen scripts for and learn how to make the VOs have lips moving. Thankfully, bead-v wrote me a tutorial.
Yebb Yebbb Dddbbddd - That's all folks!
As I'll be attempting to reach out to Stoney, I thought I should ask you fine folks if there are any questions that you think I should ask Stoney about, mostly in regards to M4-78.
1. First list how I should be pronouncing your screen name if I wind up using your question in the documentary.
2. List your question/s.
Thanks for helping me provide you with a better quality documentary.
Guys, i am working already 1 day on this project, and yet i'm not done with the Leviathan
It looks this far so good!
I also have a Screenshot of the Engines!
Hardpoints for the beginning of a Interdictor!
I will add more, when i have more! Don't ask when it will be released, that will make my anger stronger, and will take longer, and any stupid questions will be ignored.
Welcome to my first blog post on Deadly Stream! Starting with some behind-the-scenes information about my mods.
In this post, I’m making a list of programs I have used for making my KotOR mods, for my own reference and in case there are people who want to know.
KotOR Modding Tools I have used:
KotOR Tool by Fred Tetra DeNCS KotOR Script Decompiler by JdNoa DLGEditor by tk102 K-GFF GFF Editor by tk102 KotOR Scripting Tool by by Jamezy91 TSLPatcher by Stoffe
Other programs used for making my KotOR mods:
7-Zip - For compressing the files of my mod into an archive.
Adobe Photoshop CS5 - For editing graphics such as textures and inventory icons.
Audacity - For audio editing, including VO splicing.
HxD Hex Editor - For hex editing the audio files from the KotOR games to convert them into MP3 files that can be read by media players and media editing softwares, including Audacity. I don’t have Miles Sound Tools so I need to use this method to start editing the KotOR sound files. Credit to DrMcCoy from Steam since I follow the instructions of hex editing from this post.
Notepad - For writing ReadMe files.
WordPad - For writing the installer information used by TSLPatcher. Sometimes I also use WordPad to write ReadMe files if I want some text formatting in my ReadMe.
I use Bandicam (full version) to take screenshots and screen recording for my games. After doing screen recording, I use VideoPad Video Editor (Master's Edition) to edit the recordings to make preview videos for my mods.
I use MEGAsync to back up my mods and the source files to MEGA. I also work on my mods entirely on my MEGA folder so MEGASync can automatically back my files up to my MEGA storage without me having to manually upload the files.
My operating system is Windows 10 64-bit.
While adventuring through the worlds of Star Wars: The Old Republic, the player can make various discoveries that are saved in your Codex – an encyclopedia type journal of “important” terms, people and aliens you meet and things you see. Lore is a subsection of the Codex. It is different because there are two ways to get entries into the Lore section. You get automatic entries by killing some creatures or visiting places, but there are also Lore Objects, scattered all over every planet, that will provide you with additional lore entries.+
There is an achievement in Star Wars: The Old Republic called Galactic Loremaster. Unfortunately, the achievement and accompanying title were made obsolete with the 4.0 update. That is because one of the Lore items – Makeb’s Mysterious Survival – was removed when the purged the Staged Weekly Mass Exodus missions. They had a rush for the players to finish that quest so they could still get the Galactic Loremaster title, achievement, and a gift. (On that gift . . . we’re going to circle back around to that later.)
I didn’t even know about the purge until last night as I haven’t been to Makeb in quite some time. I know of the Galactic Loremaster achievement but not that it was unable to be acquired anymore. But wait . . .
I have that stupid quest completed! Luckily, I had completed the Mass Exodus missions before the purge. I just hadn’t completed the quest for the other Lore objects.
Could I get the achievement and the title even though I’ve been told it was removed from the game?
You’re damn right I could. Acquired less than an hour ago, folks.
Remember when I said I’d circle back around about the gift? It’s a decoration called the Makeb Gazebo, If you’re interested in such things, it’s pretty nice. The achievement was the only way you could get this thing. I think I have an argument that I deserve this thing. What do you think? (That's the question, folks.)
I had to re-add some of these pictures due to a Photobucket purge some time ago. I also had some of the information wrong about the Gazebo mentioned above. It wasn't the Galactic Loremaster that a player had to complete. You see, that was a whole other line of quests you had to complete before they were removed from the game. DP mentions some of this but here's a relevant quote found on the 'net. Quote
At least I had also picked up the Datacron Master title as well at the time.
Although I'll have to pick up the new Ossus datacrons at some point. (Wouldn't want my title to be a lie, now would I?)
Guys, i was thinking now 20 minutes about this, and i'm sure that i want make with you the mod, you can submit suggestions, and i may take them, but they have to be realistic, not anything like "Revan Explodes anywhere in a Asteroid System, Because of nothing",
I also need modellers for some new modules, map imager (making a minimap, idk how to call people who make that, sorry! ), Some Story Writes (They will work with me in private message) and some people, who can give me some tutorials (also in private message). I need also People who can make me the cutscenes
If anyone is willing work with me on this mod, write it in the comments!
My concept is, to build a mod up, which is quite easy, you start on Revan's Flagship's Bridge, and feel that Malak is trying to kill you by shoot on your bridge, how you felt it, you had a disturbance through the force, so you command your Admiral To Shoot Malak's Bridge. Then The Jedi Strike Team led by Bastila Shan is attacking you, you win, then you travel to Lehon and torture Bastila until she gives up, and being your apprentice and joins your Team. Then you have to conquer worlds, until the Republic attacks the Star Forge, where you get noticed by one of the other Admirals of another Interdictor, and you command your Navigator to Navigate to the Star Forge System, and if you defeated the Republic fleet, you have to travel to Coruscant, to finish the Republic and Jedis once and for all, you can command a Orbital Bombing on it, which would give you dark side points, or you say no, and get light side points. Also, you can Fight on the Star Forge against the Jedis if you desire to.
So this is a long concept i know, it is much, because it was what i was thinking the whole time. Travelable Planets: Althir Alzoc III Balmorra Czerka 431 (Only on a Station like Yavin, to trade.) Dantooine (Orbital Bombardement Avaible) Dxun (You can try to trade and negotiate peace with the Mandalorians) (I don't want to port planet's Modules, we model them into K1 (Not Porting, thats not cool) Dromund Kaas (Maybe you want to overthrow the Sith Emperor) (Final Planet) Kashyyyk Hoth Iridonia Korriban Malachor V (No Porting) Manaan M4-78 (I don't want to port planet's Modules, we model them into K1 (Not Porting, thats not cool) Onderon (I don't want to port planet's Modules, we model them into K1 (Not Porting, thats not cool) Rodia Ryloth Sleyheron (Self-Modelling, the mod isn't done yet) Tatooine Taris (Quarantine? ) Yavin IV
Now you may ask how you come on the planets, cuz landing a Interdictor is hard. Well this answer is fast Answered: by an Hearld-Class Transport (The Ones from Manaan)
Party Members: Bastila (After Sucessful Torture) HK-47 (Never left )
Team Membs: SteiraGaming - Director Leader of KotOR - Malak Was Killed - Not Revan: A Fanon Story Mod.
If you want, you can be part of this, you just have to write what job you want have, and that you join in the comments (I also accept PM).
