Horrific Onderon bug
Mutilator57 replied to cpksniper's topic in Knights of the Old Republic General
I remember having this issue in the past, really irritating. My Override folder is always a bloody mess so I couldn't tell you what's causing it, but I normally just get around this glitch by removing one of the Tobin.dlg files from my Override. Don't have the game installed at the moment, otherwise I'd check for you to be certain of the filename, but i'm pretty sure it works. Happy hunting! -
That would certainly be an ambitious and interesting move. I doubt they'd actually do it though.
-
Now that would be a good title! Rogue One certainly had issues, to be sure. I just think they were less egregious than those which afflicted TFA.
-
I would have preferred it had they just left the canon before the Imperial Era alone. Few tweaks here and there, sure. But assigning the whole span of 20+ years worth of work, admittedly not all great but certainly still worthwhile, to little more than a second-rate title? Unlike a lot of people I know including many friends who are really into SW, I've come to accept what SWTOR and the Revan novel did to Revan and the Exile. It was bloody horrible, but I moved past it. So the argument that the new canon was able to sweep away all of the bad parts of the EU never really held much appeal to me. To be honest though, I'd be surprised if the Old Republic Era was not made canon. Outside of the main saga, it has the largest fanbase if I'm not mistaken. But my enthusiasm for this is tempered by the fact that I'm certain they'll edit and reform it (significantly) to suit their new and 'improved' canon, paving the way for possibly even more butchering.

[Request] Serious looking Republic troopers
Mutilator57 replied to superSzym's topic in Mod Requests
I think this is a wonderful idea. It always bothered me how the Sith troopers were armored head-to-toe while Republic soldiers looked like they were wearing light fibres with a helmet slapped on. One of my friends rationalised it by describing it as a comparison between the war-weariness of the Republic in contrast to the limitless resources of the Sith Empire, but still! -
Not the best title, true. But unlike TFA at least Rogue One was more interesting and exciting as a movie (IMO), despite the lackluster title. For me, this bodes well for the other stand-alone films.

Damn, another uninteresting and weak title. To be honest, I have higher hopes for the stand-alone movies than for the main trilogy at this point. Definitely excited for the former since Rogue One

It's a nice feeling to welcome back such an iconic figure in the KotOR modding community!

The aliases don't bother me at all, quite the contrary. In fact, they always remind me of the work that ordinary people with real lives dedicated to the mod and game.

There are two things you can never have too much of in Star Wars games: lightsabers AND high-resolution textures.

What Did You Think of Star Wars: Rogue One?: MASSIVE SPOILERS
Mutilator57 replied to VarsityPuppet's topic in Star Wars
I agree. Her backstory, while not developed nearly enough, was still convincing IMO. So I was expecting someone full of passion and fervor; the typical rebel. Instead, she always came off as just...bland. I also wasn't particularly a fan of Director Krennic's overemphasised emasculation. I mean, he was battered from pillar-to-post by Tarkin, Vader and then the Rebels, with no real period of dominance aside from the beginning of the movie. This made him more of a Saturday morning cartoon villain than a real threat, detracting from the impact of the film and its scale. They also slotted a Gungan somewhere in the Rebel base, those cheeky buggers XD -

What Did You Think of Star Wars: Rogue One?: MASSIVE SPOILERS
Mutilator57 replied to VarsityPuppet's topic in Star Wars
Unlike TFA I actually quite liked this move. I thought that despite some flaws (the CGI Tarkin being one of them and the rather large cast), it was on the whole, quite good. Pretty happy that -
Not entirely sure about what you're asking but if you enable cheats you can just type in 'revealmap' into the console.
-
Nice! A little off-topic, but I wish I had known about the clipping issues on Atris' robes before I bought them :/
-
Nice! I especially like the Republic version

I agree. More work on the hair plus maybe some more defined facial hair, and you got a great skin!

Your Initial Thoughts When You Played KotOR
Mutilator57 replied to milestails's topic in Knights of the Old Republic General
This is almost ancient history for me, it feels like such a long time ago! I remember my Dad and I bought the KotOR game for Christmas of '04 I think. He would often play games in those days and I would watch, at times offering scathing critiques of his gameplay. He had difficulty adapting to the game needless to say, not the biggest SW fan out there. So...I had a go... I loved it from the start! It became my go-to game for years; I think I must have completed it at least scores of times in this early period. I do recall being stuck in the Sewers on Taris for the longest time though, trying (half-heartedly) to get past that force shield. What can I say, I don't really think I had any idea what I was doing! It's been so long I don't even remember how I reacted to the Revan reveal but I do recall loving the way that it injected some dynamism into the story. TSL was altogether a more...drawn out affair. Back in the old days when we used to rent (that's right, *rent*) games from the video store, TSL was always my #1 choice; I would play it after school all the time on the old X-Box (although I must confess I have no idea how I adapted to those controls) Didn't get it for PC until about 2007 where I was able to actually finish it properly. The more ominous aura of the game did spook me a bit though O.o Entered the whole modding scene the following year and I think I must have probably downloaded oodles of files and mods from the old FF site; used to check up there regularly as a long-time lurker. I'm just glad to see that the modding community has survived and thrived even to this day. Looking back I used to adore K1 and dislike TSL in comparison, I had no time for the subtleties of the Force and Kreia's endless lectures on balance and thoughtfulness, I didn't understand the nuance of her message. Nowdays though, while I still love K1 for the archetypal hero's journey, I usually prefer TSL due to the darker undertones and more thought-provoking dialogue. What a turnaround, heh! -
You can just pick and choose what parts of the mods you'd like and leave the stuff that you don't or that you know will conflict without using the TSLPatcher.

It is indeed from Oldflash's Final Touch mod. From memory, there are significant problems compatibility-wise, particularly since Final Touch modifies the Appearance.2da file with a line already in use with M4-78EP. Although it has been a while since I did it, meaning I can't remember the exact process, I *think* I managed to conjure a workaround by creating a new line the Appearance.2da and just taking all the necessary files from Final Touch's tslpatchdata.

Nice characters, both of you! If those F2Ps think lost items from 4.0 are bad, imagine what they would think knowing I still have some of the old Battlemaster/Centurion PVP gear and Columi/Rakata PVE stuff from before RotHC! Anyway, give us them screenies!
