Hello again everyone, I'm back with yet another glitch! So after just recently purchasing a new computer, I took it upon myself to reinstall all of my mods for the first KotOR game. This time, I was absolutely determined to 'squeeze' every bit of content from as many mods as possible, manually ironing out incompatibilities as they arose. As I alluded to in my NPC glitch a few weeks ago, this was mainly editing NPCs in various modules by customising them to my liking and building upon the work of other mods (for my own private use of course). Anyway, after warping to every module to screen for potential errors, I discovered a minor yet annoying bug in the Sith Academy. Basically, there are a few NPCs that are performing the wrong animation (in this case, the computer panel animation). This affects several NPCs in the corner of the main room (where Uthar Wynn is), a few more in the room leading to the Valley, and the torturer in the duel room (who should be casting force lightning instead). Now, in my limited knowledge of modding, I can guess that perhaps it has something to do with certain scripts contained in the .mod file but I have no idea if this is true or how I would go about fixing the issue for that matter. Of course, I can only speculate as to what exactly caused this issue since my module edits were only NPCs; I never touched any scripts. It may have possibly been the NPC Overhaul mod in tandem with some other big mods (like BOS:SR or something) but I digress. Rather than trying to iron out the issue by reinstalling everything or retracting my steps, I'd rather just fix the problem directly. So to summarise, what I'm asking for is how to specify for a particular NPC to use a certain animation. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! EDIT: All good everyone, I managed to fix the problem. For some reason, the NPCs in question had the incorrect script specified in their UTC file. No idea how that happened but as long as it's fixed!

Whoops, almost forgot about that mod!

There's just not enough content left over to do most of what you ask. Reincorporating Atris into the endgame story would require massive VO splicing at minmimum, more likely requiring new dialogue to be recorded. While I don't necessarily think it's entirely impossible (though don't get me wrong, it would be tremendously difficult), the result would be far from quality. Besides, I think the story works better with Kreia as the focus, given her history in teaching and travelling with the player, don't you?

NPC Cloning/Duplication in Certain Modules
Mutilator57 replied to Mutilator57's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
So with a bit of blind luck and the invaluable advice of the posters above, I've managed to resolve the issue. To save time, I was using a save on the Endar Spire to test changes to the various modules I was editing. I would simply load the save and then use the cheat console to warp directly to the edited module (which to answer your implicit query DP, were edited mod files with the UTCs within them - not UTCs just dropped into the Override folder). I thought this system would cover all the changes I wished to make (save for the Spire of course) since it was before any other module had been loaded. But whenever I warped directly to the module in question, the twi'leks (specifically Uriah and Bib Surool) were definitely copies of each other. However, using Kexikus' advice, this time I instead warped to the Lower City first (tar_m03aa) and manually entered the Cantina and voila, the different UTCs had taken effect. I'm not sure what difference this would have made since the Spire save was one before all other modules had been loaded anyway but I guessed it changed something. Thanks for the help everyone! -
NPC Cloning/Duplication in Certain Modules
Mutilator57 replied to Mutilator57's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Essentially, I'm trying to alter the twi'leks in Javyar's Cantina to be more varied (i.e. making a few green-skinned, some others orange etc). My exact issue is when I make a particular twi'lek NPC use a certain head, yeah sure it works on that NPC BUT it also alters the heads of all the other male twileks in the Cantina to use the same head. When I try to override it by editing the UTC file to use a different head, there's no change. To me, it's almost as if a certain type of UTC file is duplicated within a module to save space or something, so when you edit one you edit them all but that's just a completely wild (and probably innacurate) guess. -
Okay...in mucking around with several UTC files, I've run into a problem that's got me stumped. Basically, I was trying to edit the male twi'leks in Javyar's Cantina (tar_m03ae) to make them more 'individual' BUT it seems when I change the head of just one of the files (the Bounty Hunter next to Zax, for example) all the other male twi'leks in the module seem to copy that head without me editing their files at all. I can't seem to override this by using their UTC file and specifying a different head either. What am I missing? Thanks.

Please don't remind me...

Yup, it's a great mod and one I'm still using (as evidenced by my comment on the download page) but it still has parts missing. For example, the hair is still its horrible vanilla self.

I know, right? Such a difference from the unabashed politeness of Emperor Devon when reviewing this xD

Although I can't confirm this, I think I remember seeing something similar on FF ages ago. Don't know if it's still around anywhere though. EDIT: The closest I could find was this on NexusMods. Obviously miles apart from DP's awesome work, but as close as you're gonna get at this stage I'm afraid.

Most impressive!

And here I was hoping on the release of the Shadow retexture first

Exactly. You pay for a SERVICE. In other words, the ISPs are the one's providing said service and you are voluntarily agreeing to subscribe to said service. So who is to direct how they use it, including the ins-and-outs of fees and so on?
-
As I'm not too aware of this topic, I can't really comment any further with any authority. But, just playing devil's advocate here, if you are using the infrasturcture of an ISP, who are you to dictate how they do or don't use it?
-
While I tend to agree with this sort of thinking, I'm naturally skeptical of government getting involved in the process at all. Which brings me to pose a simple question. Why alter the existing regime at all? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
-
I probably overreacted to your comment anyway. Besides, it's difficult to convey tone through text. Glad everything is sorted now; time to download the new version!

No need to be snappy, I was just about to get to that - I do have a life you know. I was a bit reluctant to post a save because as I said, I have used *a lot* of mods and am using an old version of TSLRCM (I haven't really gotten around to updating it) + since I haven't done a full playthrough in ages, I didn't really have a save anywhere near the Ravager (the closest was on the Ebon Hawk barely after finishing Korriban - my first planet) so I had to warp there; I didn't really think that under such circumstances, my save would be useful but whatever. Anyway here is a save just before her chamber. 000127 - Game126.rar

Well I just tried on my game and the VFX was there. Admittedly, it was a heavily modded save but crucially, NOT one with this mod installed.
-
Whoops, almost forgot!

DP's given you the solution. As it was said, you need to edit each UTC and use the TSLPatcher to put those UTCs into each module and NOT the Override folder. You can even download the TSLPatcher here on Deadly Stream. You're lucky since I don't think neither Sion nor Nihlus appear in too many modules, so you don't need to change much - off the top of my head, just the Korriban Academy, Ravager Bridge and all the Trayus Academy modules.
-
Awesomely-quick bug-fixing!
-
I've found it's slightly less noticeable with a short saber so maybe try that if it really bothers you.
-
That makes sense actually; that's the same format for a lot of Korriban's textures so I should have put 2 and 2 together :/ This is why you don't mod at 2 am xD Thanks!
