  1. Although it *was* a while ago, I actually went through SpaceAlex's mod file-by-file and decided what I wanted to keep. Because I can't remember exactly what I did (sorry about that!) I'm just operating purely on memory and a bit of instinct. Just by taking a quick peek, I think the issue is with your appearance file. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the appearance file references the heads file via the normalhead column. So what you basically have is Marl's line in the appearance file referencing a non-existent line in the heads file. For your game, change the entry in the normalhead column from 133 to 109 and see if that helps.
  2. File Name: Artistic Fanart Portraits [K1] File Submitter: Mutilator57 File Submitted: 28 Feb 2018 File Category: Mods K1R Compatible: Yes This is a mod for the award-winning game Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic [K1]. Description: Well the day has finally come where I publicly release a mod; it only took 13 years of owning the game! While I have modded my own game extensively over the years, this is my first mod. It may be a bit rudimentary but hey, at least I got there in the end! The origins of this mod started in my dislike of the default portraits which I thought were too bland, not to mention tiring to look at after years and years. So I endeavoured to replace these portraits with some of my own using mostly fan art collected from around the internet. Over the years, I periodically 'updated' these custom portraits with new images as I stumbled across them. This mod is simply a public release of my current crop of portraits for the first KotOR game. The 'Default' folder contains portraits for all 9 main party members - Jolee, Juhani, Canderous, T3-M4, HK-47, Bastila, Carth, Mission, and Zaalbar. I have also included a file for anyone who has Silveredge 9's Darkside Bastila mod (which adds a line to the Portraits.2da file to use a different darkside portrait). HOWEVER, it's important to note that the darkside portrait mentioned is simply a copy of the one in the 'Default' folder and is NOT a special or unique version - perhaps something for a future update? Installation: Move all the files from the 'Default' folder to the 'Override' folder located in your game directory. Repeat the process for any of the files you wish to use in the 'Optional' folder. Uninstallation: Remove all the files from the Override folder. Compatibility: It should be compatibile with most anything, except other mods which alter partymembers' portraits. All PC portraits are unaffected by this mod. Known Bugs: None that I know of. Usage: This mod is not be uploaded to any site by anyone other than myself. This is because I don't own the IP on the images - while it was me who went through the effort of compiling and editing the images for the game, the actual art belongs to other people. Credits: Bioware and LucasArts for the exceptional game. A special thanks to the following authors - without these guys' exceptional work, this mod would not have been possible! 1. Darth Ponda HK-47 2. Entropist2009 Zaalbar Jolee T3-M4 3. CorbinHunter Bastila Canderous Juhani Mission 4. DarthFar Carth All images are replicated WITH permission from the relevant author. Disclaimer: This mod is provided as-is and has not been created or endorsed by LucasArts/Bioware. Use this mod at your own risk as I am NOT responsible for any possible damage done to your computer from this mod's use (though it's just a few texture files, I can't imagine any catastrophe happening!). 4. I quite like Adywan's changes, particularly to ANH. The additions to the Battle of Yavin were masterful IMO; the only thing that was missing was the final shot of Tarkin right before the Death Star explodes.
  5. Rather than relying on implication, let me just tell you: my defence had nothing to do with mistreatment. It was a general comment that while there was a lot of negativity *from both sides*, the pro-Disney forces (if I can call them that) cloaked their argument in this indignant malaise at being questioned. That's it. That's all my observation was. If you don't share it and it isn't obvious from the sources which I gave then we clearly have very different opinions, which is fine! Perhaps pariah was too strong a word. More like shunned or scorned. It might do now. However, just go back through the first page of TFA discussion; 4 or 5 of the comments are pretty positive. Of course, that's just a snapshot, but it feeds into my point about how our side of the argument has more support today, particularly because IMO, TLJ is an infinitely worse movie than TFA and more has happened under Disney's banner since then. If you're referring to comments left by the different people on the page then yes, quite a few support my point of view. If you actually go look at the posts of the page itself and by the content it shares, this is not the case. Here are some examples: Observe the overwhelming love reacts indicating approval of a new RJ trilogy. Here the page gleefully shares a 96% RT score of the movie An article denouncing the 'toxic' fandom shared by the page (I tried to link it directly but couldn't get this one to cooperate but trust me, SW Hub did share it). Again, can't link the page sharing the post but they definitely did. This time, they try to denounce the audience as manipulating the RT score. A link to the page actually trying to justify the low RT score of the movie too. The page expresses its amazement at the movie. Note the universality of the like and love reacts to the post. Of course, we can all pick and choose our evidence but that's just what my experience has been. Refer to my comment above; I don't go to these sites so I can't comment on their fanbase, though I take your word for it. In any event, I think I've said all that I need to
  6. ... are you sure you and I are following the same thing? Look no further than our own TFA thread which was a cesspool of anger and vitriol. I just had another little peruse myself, and boy, if all that doesn't fall under the purview of the adjectives I use then I don't know what will. If you're looking for extra-DS examples, simply take a look at Star Wars Hub on FB - their relentless pro-Disney line is infamous.
  7. I don't wish to prolong the agony so I'll keep this short and sweet. As someone who was a vociferous critic of TFA back in the day, just as I am of TLJ, may I just say while there was and *is* sniping on both sides, in 'our' defence, the animosity directed at those who dare question the new trilogy's direction was intense, implacable and barely-controlled. We have a little bit more stock now as the other non-movie-related failures of the Disney-led SW universe have started to take shape too, but we're still very much the pariahs of the fanbase because of this irrational fear of being too 'negative'. In my opinion, it's the same kind of poison that's bled over from political life - it's now fashionable for everyone to detest so-called 'negative campaigning'. Yet when it comes to the ads people most remember, they're almost always the most negative ones. And so be it. How can you compare the pros and cons of something without presenting the negative; the contrast? At the risk of sound evasive, I of course also needn't point out that there's never a license to insult people personally or engage in petty low-blows in these kind of things either
  8. This is the best description for the way I currently feel towards the whole SW universe. Disney is turning it into a merchandising cash-cow. They're flooding the market with low-quality, high-volume content that's not only terrible, but that completely tramples on previously-established in-universe norms and rules built over decades.
  9. I've been following this mod for a few years and am very sad to see it die down. Nevertheless, I totally understand your reasoning and wish you well! In any event, I say go with Option 1
  10. I haven't read all of both articles, but his point about the Force is total trash; the thinly-veiled justifications for a poorly-written story made retrospectively in a hasty and weak attempt to deflect any criticism. All I have to say is that this kind of thinking is apart of the problem. It's the same type of stunt that GL pulled plenty of times in the prequels when characters did inexplicable and/or stupid stuff. "Hey, it's the magic of the Force!". That kind of freedom is fine, to a point. But I'm sorry, flying in space like Superman and astral-projection are too big a stretch for any sensible person, even within the realms of SW! Even if you think differently, the fact that we have to debate this detracts from the movie itself which is a clear indication of the plot's weakness. Part of why the OT was so good was because while the Force was always emphasised as a powerful presence, you never really saw OTT crap and if you did, it was always explained or justified. With this, it's just meh...
  11. I'm at the point where I can't tell if it's all creative excellence gone above the heads of us ordinary folk OR a piece of throwaway trash that had all of 5 minutes spent on it. That's a worrying confusion! I can understand some people thinking the film is better than others, but those (like on some FB groups I've seen) claiming it's as good as, if not better than ESB, just boggles the bloody mind! I almost forgot; my final verdict is a 4.5/10...and that's being generous.
  12. Let me say loud and proud, I absolutely hated this movie. Those of you who can cast your mind back two years ago might remember that I was one of the staunchest critics of TFA. However, at least with TFA, the fundamentals weren't terrible. Sure, it was a pale imitation, but a well-crafted one. This movie...where can one begin? I could go on and on but I think you guys get the gist.
  13. I know it's a little off-topic but GOOD LUCK! I managed to scrape by in one of my subjects this semester (Contracts) with a 53 so I know that feeling!

It was more of a general comment rather than one directed specifically at you. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Proof enough that we don't need regulators. With the internet and so many forms of communication these days, an informed citizenry is more than sufficient to stunt some of these rubbish practices in their tracks. I managed to get some good MP fun out of it as recently as 2014; it was a live but admittedly small scene of course. Perhaps recent disgust in the new BFII will catalyse that resurgence?

Are we really going to celebrate regulators poking their nose into yet another industry? Especially something as near and dear to our hearts as the production of video games? As someone from Australia which has some of the most stringent restrictions and gaming regulagions, I'd be careful what you wish for. Regardless, EA should suffer for their mistakes.
  16. You shouldn't quote me on this, but I remember having the setting on to make all those graphical enhancements appear. However, I also vageuly remember the type of graphics card affecting those settings as well.
  17. Are you guys sure? I always thought those kind of effects were controlled by the frame buffer effects settings.
  18. The screenies have a particularly 'stretched' look about them. Got to try it myself before I pass judgement of course; there've been a tonne of spectacular mods that I wouldn't even have, had I not ignored the bad screenshots!
  19. Yeah, I think both games went too extreme. In K1, he was essentially worthless to the plot as all he had to do was open a door. In TSL, it's the exact opposite - he becomes the central figure after Kreia and the Exile.
  20. Also true. I think I'll leave this conversation to those with a much firmer grasp on the story than I!
  21. Right, that's true. Well I guess you can probably tell from my hasty, half-baked question about K1's plot that I'm more of a TSL fan myself
  22. A simple question to which I ask another; why would you even need the Canderous if you've already got (or are able to get) the codes yourself? From a Dark-sided perspective, it doesn't really make much sense.
