  1. From what I've read, it's advised to avoid Steam Workshop if you're looking to play and/or mod TSL. Mac users can get it through the Apple Store but when it comes to PC it looks like Steam is the only (or main) option. That's the version Aspyr is offering on their site. I've seen there's a GOG version but it sounds like it's limited. What are you guys using to play/mod TSL in? I'd appreciate any recommendations.
  2. This is a brief list of the graphical issues I found on KotOR 1 using Linux (Kubuntu 21.10) with Proton 7.0-1, I am using an Intel UHD 630 graphics card with the newest drivers available. This list is for anyone who wants to know wich issues they're facing by using an OS that the game wasn't meant for. Keep in mind that KotOR is almost 20 years old and having minor graphical problems is not a big deal. 1.Stealth mode doesn't make the player invisible (doesn't affect gameplay) It looks like an energy shield. On earlier proton versions the character looked entirely black, so this is an improvement. 2.Camera effects don't work properly (might affect the game's style, but not gameplay) The droids on first person view should have a camera effect to them. HK should have a red effect and T3 a blue effect. It also happens to the cameras used on terminals. On earlier versions the screen turned completely black, impacting the gameplay. It also affected the swoop races, making them unplayable. 3.Textures are overly saturated In too dark or too bright places, or turning the brightness too high or low will make the textures ovely saturated, it doesn't affect anything, but it looks weird. It happens on any Proton version. 4.HK-47 eyes don't glow 5.Framerate might be lower than on Windows, but it's not a big issue. KotOR is optimized poorly for modern machines, it doesn't matter how good your PC is, there's always going to be frame dips. Compared to Windows, Linux has more frame dips, again, it's not unplayable. 6.Game saves have a black icon instead of a screenshot. For some reason, on linux this game doesn't do a proper screenshot to show the player what they were doing. Some Windows games running under Proton are surprisingly stable and work well enough for Linux users, with the Proton update things got even better (not only on KotOR, but on a lot of other games). Steam Play on Linux (debian-based distros) is a viable alternative for Windows. Most of the issues can be fixed by disabling pixel shading in the graphic settings.

I just recently finished a modded playthrough of kotor 1 and so I bought the second one last night and was following this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/kotor/wiki/kotor2modbuildfull#wiki_kotor_2_full_build I know I made a mistake somewhere because when I booted the game it looked like this I have absouletly no idea how to fix this or what could have caused it, and I thought I may as well try to ask here before I try re-downloading the whole modlist. The only mods I use are the ones in the link I provided. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  5. Hi, coming from the GOG Version i installed the K2 Steam Version today for the first time and i was shocked! Instead of having hi-res crisp 2k/4k textures everything looked a bit blurry like an upscaled low-res render, but thats not all! All shiny cubemap surfaces are gone! Like there are no CM being applied... Is there any workaround to fix that and enable Cubemap + hi-res again? (Graphics settings are on max already) I really hope this issue can be solved and i you guys can help me out on that.

  8. I am using KOTOR II legacy version. I went to install the TSLRCM mod on my Windows 10 PC, and only was given language options during the install process. How do you change the install path during install? The attachments are a step-by-step of the install process, ending with the final location of the mod files. Again, I am using Steam legacy edition.
  9. As everyone is aware, the Steam version of TSL has a delightful issue involving modded lightsaber textures, as well as with the fog effect, all due to the Aspyr patch. However, considering the fog issue was worked out, I am curious as to why the lightsaber texture issue has likewise not been fixed. Is it a matter of being unable to find the source of the issue, or is it literally impossible to reconcile? If this has already been asked, then I apologize; I'm just curious as to what exactly is going on "behind the scenes", so to speak.
  10. Hello everyone, This is my first post so I apologize in advance if this question has already been answered. Although it seems like I have searched everywhere without still finding my answer. For starters, I'm running a 2014 MacBook Pro.I have purchased Kotor 2 through steam and I'm very interested in applying as many mods as possible. From what I have read so far, seems as if TSLRCM is a must. I would also like to run M4-78EP and maybe a few more mods which bring in new content (Jedi temple/Jedi enclave and so on). I would also love to set up the widescreen UI if at all possible. Now from what I've seen so far, we are only able to subscribe to 5 mods on steam max or else the game will crash. I know that other mods can be installed manually but that's where I'm stuck. I read and watched countless forums and videos but nothing seems to be specific enough. What I mean by this is: the people who create these often won't included the specific steps required to move forward. I tried installing wineskin which was recommended but it skipped things like: what version, what engine, what it should look like and so on. (This is my first time doing something like this so every basic step is important) It has been a few weeks since I've purchased the game but I refuse to play it without adding some mods. Which bring me to my two questions: For mac users out there, are you able to simply just subscribe to at least TSLRCM 1.8.5, M4-78EP, and the widescreen UI on steam? Or can I manually install them without the use of anything like wineskin. And.... Will all three of those mods be compatible together? Thanks in advance.

So I've been playing quite a bit of TSL again after the steam version got it's widescreen update, and as a consequence have been downloading a whole host of mods both from here and from the Workshop: Which brought me to an interesting idea using the workshop. I've seen that because there is a lack of merging support in the functionality of the steam workshop, much of the mod content requires merging is unlikely to find it's way onto the workshop. I've also noticed that steam doesn't modify the game files in anyway when installing mods, rather opting to 'mod' the game at runtime. This is a novel idea which keeps the game files clean and mods easy to uninstall/delete. Steam also doesn't seem to automatically delete the files of unsubscribed mods, when unsubscribing, rather leaving them in the workshop content directory. (Atleast this has been the case as far as I have seen) Additionally steam doesn't verify the content of these folders unless there is an update (in my week or so of testing it atleast) , which means you could change the content of the folders, and they stay that way. So TSLpatcher's primary feature would be merging, something the workshop clearly lacks. My idea involves treating a subscribed mod directory as a 'main' game directory. At the moment I copy over much of TSL's game content to one of my mod folders. (I've made a custom 'mod' for this purpose, which is pretty much just the empty game folder structure) Then install any mods I'd like to try out/use into the folder. The needed merges happen, and the game files are swapped for the modded ones at runtime. Folders Copied: data lips Modules override StreamSounds StreamMusic StreamVoice TexturePacks My current method is a bit ham-handed so I'd like some experienced opinions on the topic of what the most commonly altered files are. Because currently the idea involves having two copies of TSL, or taking a look at the altered files in each mod. The functionality reminds me of Mod Orgainizer for Skyrim actually.But I've a feeling that there is no real answer to which files to include: it depends on the mod. Maybe I should just keep a list of what is overwritten in each mod somewhere? For this to be viable with mutliple mods I'm going to have to figure out how and where steam stores the list of subscribed mods for each game. (if I can figure it out I might write a small app to change between 'game states', without the need for symbolic workshop links online - which probably isn't going to happen because I have a feeling it's stored in userdata) The order which Steam loads the mods is also a problem, but so far it's been loading my TSLRCM before my custom mod. But otherwise it works fine, and it keeps my base game, TSLRCM and 'other' mods seperate, so if I need to get past points due to mods conflicting with TSLRCM, I should be able to swap out the subscription. That is, unless the save is screwed up by it. EDIT: Maybe can figure out something on a per mod basis from the changes.ini EDIT: Workshop deletes files which are specified in the mod, it does not delete folders though, if files not specified by the depotcache manifest (I believe) are present, then it leaves the folder intact and removes specific files.
  13. I just tried an interesting experiment..and it worked. I have had an old Retail copy of KOTOR (With the original discs!!!) that's installed with all kinds of awesome MODS. I just purchased the GOG Saber Package . Somewhere I had read a forum asking if the games could be installed multiple times so that Full Re-Write mods (like RoR & The Jedi Masters) could be installed alongside without totally overwriting their normal game. Couldn't be done because you'd have to be able to tell the registry that they were separate games with different names. Except that I just did it with the GOG copy using GOG Galaxy. My Retail copy: Installed to C:\Star Wars\SWKotor2\ The GOG Copy I let install to it's default, which seems to write it's own unique GOG registry entries. I tested - launched my retail copy with a save, there it was. Launched GOG version - and it's VANILLA!!! I don't know if this will work with a Retail copy and a Steam copy too. Let me know if this is actually a breakthrough or if this is common knowledge!!! It's happened before and it's okay to point that out that somewhere else is a much more informative thread!!!

The ever wonderful Aspyr re-released KotOR 2 on July 21st, 2015 with some very welcome new features. They include: Mac OS 10 Support! Steam Achievements Steam Cloud saves Native Widescreen Resolution support for 4k and 5k monitors Support for controllers Steam Workshop support (though we prefer you stay on Deadlystream for all your modding needs ) Full support for TSLRCM You can read more about the update here and here. If you are intersted in purchasing the steam version of KotOR 2 you can do so here. Mr. Xuul was kind enough to track down an Aspyr employee and ask the important questions for us (like what about us 4-discers), read about it here. TSLRCM was updated to 1.8.4 on July 21, 2015, you can download it here. In the same vein M4-78 was also updated, you can download it here. Our very own Sithspecter and Xuul released a awesome preview of the planet, Sleheyron. You can view it here. The Kotor 1 Restoration 1.0 was released on June 17, 2015. Read more about it and download it here. Fair Strides released the latest version of The Kotor Save Editor. It has been updated to version 3.3.7a and now includes support for Steam Cloud saves. As of July 23rd, 2015, Filefront (and by extension kotorfiles) has shutdown permanently with little or no warning, causing a great panic across our community, as many older mods for KotOR suddenly disappeared (though some are still available at the new gamefront site). Thankfully the team here at Deadlystream has put in a lot of time getting permission to put up as many mods here as possible. Take a look at our recent influx of mods over at the Downloads section. Hi everyone, I first just want to say what a helpful forum and site this really is and I'm so glad I found people on here who enjoyed both KOTOR and KOTOR 2 as much as I do, as these were a favorite games of mine growing up. :') Anyways, I'm just posting a little in regards to TSL. I have the Steam version with TSLRCM (latest version, 1.8.3) installed plus a two mods from Filefront which I will list below: Bastila's Jedi Robe by Sith_Master_3000 HK-47 Rejuvenated by BaneMinistry And my here are my specs: MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Intel i3 CPU M 380 @ 2.53GHz, 3.0 RAM with Intel HD Graphics (Not exactly cut out for gaming, I know, but surprisingly K2 never lagged or crashed on me with these specs.) But anyways, basically the game was working great and I didn't encounter any bugs at all until this particular cutscene: As soon as Kreia sits down in the newly rebuilt Enclave, the screen goes black and all I can move is the green cursor and I can open the game menus (like to equip things, check the stats on my character, and save the game, etc.) My first thought was to save there and reload that save, and that got rid of the black screen, but as I go to the Jedi Masters, the cutscene where they discuss what a wound my poor Exile is the force doesn't trigger and I'm just left with 3 unresponsive masters. I think I've tried every fixed I googled but no dice. I know files that change Kreia's appearance conflict TSLRCM so I avoid those but I really don't know what else to do and I just want to finish this masterpiece of a game with this awesome content mod before I go back to school and don't have free time anymore. :'( If anyone has any fixes I can try or knows if my mods are conflicting, please let me know on this. You guys who made TSLRCM seriously outdid yourselves and I really, reaaaaaallly would like to finish it! Kind regards, Amber
  17. Hey there, first time poster here. I just downloaded the restoration mod since I just got the Steam version of TSL. I've installed the mod in the correct folder and the game starts up fine up to the title screen with the correct logo to say that the mod is installed. As soon as I attempt to start a new game it brings up the loading screen, the bar fills all the way then just stops and doesn't move on to the next screen due to the program not responding. This happens every single time without fail, I've had the game running fine before installing the mod. I've uninstalled the entire game and reinstalled it twice now to attempt it again and still have the same loading screen crash each time. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it? Cheers.
