Interesting. Could be useful in some situations, such as when the player controls Mira in Visquis base.

I suppose Bao-Dur or T3 could give these items as consumables for the player. Or there can be a new feat chain. Many variants, I'm looking forward to what you come up with.

Most excellent! 10 outta 10 would download!

  2. L9de2xN.png

Release soon, 2 years after starting the project.

In fairness, the original mod is from 12 years ago so I'd say I've made progress.

  3. 9r4CYxD.png

    My turnaround rate is excellent.

  4. Jolee and Juhani done (barring possible future tweaks).

    aV34AMb.png

    Still Bastila's to go.

I also should try a few different brown variations for compatibility with the 100% Brown option of the main cloaked robes mod, but I'm not sure what to do with those yet, might save it for a future update.

Everything looks good in black! @ebmar

These look great, bias aside of which is the best.

  5. Latest progress on cloaked party clothing robes:

    GNWRD9P.png

It's not readily apparent, but in addition to the cloak I upscaled her clothing texture and fixed some minor errors.

What, cloaked soldier/scout/scoundrel clothing? I dunno, might look a bit weird.

    3. Salk

      Salk

Yes, I was wondering what it might look like with the default clothes on but as you said, it might look odd.

      Still curious though...

Maybe I'll take a look when the others are done. I still have to finish Bastila's.

  6. Latest robe progress:

    7E2btYe.png

This is my replacement for the Ossus Keeper robes. Used Atris and Jocasta Nu for reference because they're librarian robes. I might take a second look and tweak some things later, but for now I'm moving on to the Norris robe.

Also, I'm looking for input here regarding the remaining texture variants. There's some weird stuff going on with the original designs.

    1. ebmar

      ebmar

Smooth! I think its shade and tone already perfect. Perhaps some mild touches to the alpha for extra kick on those pattern in the front fold and skirt/flap there. Preferably mycube? Not too many choices though.

    2. JCarter426

      JCarter426

Hmm, maybe. My options are limited, though, because every texture variant on the model uses the same TXI file. So if I added a normal map, for example, then no other robes could have one. They could share a cube map, but then they'll have to all use the same one. I'll have to finish the textures before deciding, but it might be worth doing if only to have the metal parts of the belt shiny.

Also, I'm already making adjustments to the Ossus Keeper. I sought advice on Discord about the Norris robe, and that led me to have some new ideas for the Ossus Keeper. It was actually something that I had tried before and it looked bad, but with the power of cosplay reference photos I was able to figure out a way to make it look not as bad. Essentially, the patterned sashes will be closer to how Atris' are.

Couldn't agree more on that one!

  7. Some more robe progress:

    LBQmVNk.png

There are ten texture variants for the K2 version. Half are done, and the other half is on the way. I've finished the basic recreation of them all, but that was only the first step. A lot of them need additional fine-tuning. For example, the Dark Jedi Knight robe was misaligned; part of the robe was shifted up a few pixels, compared to the other variants. I also thought the cloaks on a few textures looked washed out, so I fiddled with the levels to give them better contrast. But the biggest changes I've had to make were for Jolee's robe because the original just did not look like Jolee at all.

Fortunately, the rest don't have to be replaced almost from scratch like that one. Jolee's robe is the only unique robe that uses that model rather than the master robe model. Just little changes - the fine tuning - are needed for the final five textures. The only thing slowing me down is my motivation. That's the sort of thing I can spend forever fussing over, and in fact I'm still not totally happy with the Jolee texture and might go back to it later. Anyway, the K2 version is coming... eventually.

Looks nice. 👍 Never made sense to me why the original didn't look more like Jolee's outfit despite being named after him.

    3. JCarter426

      JCarter426

Could've been an unrelated design that only got attached to Jolee's name after it was done. There are some other questionable things going on with the texture variants, too. #5 isn't used at all, and I believe #9 and #10, the Baran Do Sage and Norris robes, should be swapped. I've decided I'll have to take a few liberties with the remaining textures to sort out these issues. Of course I've ended up creating more work for myself by deciding to give some of them the same treatment I did Jolee's, but only for two more of them.

Love the new Jolee's robe look! It's been 6 years since someone posted a reaction to this. Looks like this never got released.

  8. I haven't been doing much modding over the last couple weeks because I've been working on this instead:

    Azjm8RQ.png

It's a fully-functional user-defined language for Notepad++. It has syntax highlighting and auto-completion based on all the terms found in nwscript.nss. I've done all my coding over the last ten years with Notepad - the regular one - with none of these features, so I think it's pretty cool to have now.

(The code I typed is garbage, though. I was just putting stuff down to show a few of the features and I forgot to assign the command to an object.)

If you do intend on releasing that mod, may I suggest you make the robbed Jolee clothing his default clothing and have the other three new versions as new items.  You may need to include a new feat for Jolee and restrict that feat for Jolee so these Jolee clothes items with the new reskins require Jolee's unique feat meaning they can only be worn by him.

      I hope that made sense.

    3. JCarter426

      JCarter426

The plan is to leave the clothing slot alone and have the new model replace the robe slot. Each party member will have their usual clothing items and cloaked versions of those models for robes.

    4. N-DReW25

      N-DReW25

That actually makes more sense. Keep up the great work!

  10. Level cap? What level cap?

    UYDbNDb.png

    ...OK, this doesn't really work.

  11. Slave Bastila and my Supermodel Fix for K2 have been updated. I've also uploaded a Supermodel Fix for K1, which doesn't have much yet, but includes the same fixes as the most recent K2 version (a clipping issue with dual melee animations). These three were a sort of concentrated effort so I wanted to announce some stuff about them all together for anybody who reads status updates.

The update to Slave Bastila fixes a critical error that I'd known about for a while but only just figured out how to fix, so I strongly suggest to anybody who uses the mod that you go update it so you don't have to suffer through things I broke.

Slave Bastila also includes the fixes for K1, so you don't need to and shouldn't use the Supermodel Fix for K1 if you use Slave Bastila.

Finally - to reiterate what I've said in the Supermodel Fix descriptions - if you spot any other animation issues, send me a picture so I can see what the problem is and confirm if it's a problem I can fix on the supermodels. If so, I'll add it to my to-do list.

  12. GExogth.png

What's this? Lips that don't clip?

Could it be there was absolutely nothing wrong with the animations and they were just missing keyframes that do nothing? Could it be I have to go through every weapon idle and fidget animation to place keyframes that don't actually do anything?

    Yeah, that sounds like KOTOR.

I would be. Same for KOTOR 1, too.

    3. Malkior

      Malkior

So, if Obsidian broke the face animations (in a roundabout way), then does that mean we can do something about the TSL combat animation clipping, too? (Broken looking hands during unarmed combat, animal attack animations causing the torso to stretch horribly, etc...)

    4. JCarter426

      JCarter426

Maybe, depends what it is. Sometimes there's only so much you can do with the way the KOTOR models are.

I'm still fighting to fix the lip clipping as what I was doing worked once, then hasn't worked again no matter what I try.

  13. Technical difficulties resolved. Progress continues.

    2mGOAvT.png

These are my half-assed updates of the game textures for the new mapping. Not sure if I'll do brand new ones for K2, but I'll come up with four variants for the K1 port at least.

  14. Current progress on the K2 models:

    5eRrjA7.png

I can't stop fussing over the collar texture. I look at mine and think it's too flat, could use some work, and keep trying different things. On the other hand, I ask myself if it looks as bad as the original and... well, obviously. I don't know when to give up on it.

Heh, but the masses have demanded cloaked robes. Gotta appease the proletariat first. Although, I did track down my animation library and if you want zombies in KOTOR I could probably make it happen.

K1 with actual caped and animated robes? Yes please. On a side note, do you plan on doing the council (aka, the one Nemo and some other jedi use) styled robe as well?

The collars on pretty much every single K1/TSL model are terrible because of the way they mate with the neck. They always look like some weird hump separate from the rest of the outfit. Like someone tried to approximate a scarf, but just gave up after 5 minutes.

The K2 robes look bad in K2. It's not an issue of which game or porting or anything else you mentioned. They're just bad to begin with:

I have just realised that the hardest part of texturing are doing fabrics, as they can't get any "help" by getting details from implementing any CubeMap.

As for metal based or anything that logically could reflect lights, their details can be enhanced by implementing "CM_Baremetal" or "CM_SpecMap". But as for robes, no- they need to be good to begin with just like you said. Two persons in mind that I believe are advanced on doing those details on fabrics are @Dark Hope and @redrob41; just like DP recommend. Hats-off. Hoping they are interested on doing some for Jedi robes especially. 🤞

When I'm done with the models, I plan to release my fixed models as a resource like svösh did, with the actual model files as well as some guides for the new mapping. So those individuals and anyone else will be free to do so.

...For the K2 version, anyway. I still have to sort out how I'm going to handle permissions for mods with ported content.

It's actually worse than you were predicted hahah. I've never been to that part of Kashyyyk before. The furthest part of Kashyyyk I've ever been was where to meet Komad Fortuna, where I tried to test the "Get the Other Krayt Dragon Pearl" mod to work for my planned playthrough; which doomed me to stuck at modding. But the hope is still there 🤣

You should finish it before you get too deep into modding. You may not get the chance once the bug catches...
