    Replacement Texture for Lightning on Malachor V 1.2 READ ME FIRST! Here's my third small mod. MOD AUTHOR: Sith Holocron ORIGINAL RELEASE: 14 MAR 2013 UPDATED RELEASE: 29 FEB 2016 GAMES: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords Description: Did the low resolution lighting ever irritate you when walking along Malachor V's surface? Me too! Once again, I've decided to do something about it. The new texture uses captures from a real lighting strike. Constructive criticism is welcome. About The Update: When the mod was originally released, Darth Sapiens requested a version that has a flare on the cloud the lightning would be emanating from. I made him a version like that as a thank you for his helping the original version. I think it should be available to everyone – so now’s your turn to try it out. PERSONAL NOTE (18 JAN 2025) I decided to make a video today that would show the difference between the "vanilla" lightning in game to the two versions in my mod. That's when I noticed a different version that was in my own Override folder which is a part of Kexikus' HQ Skyboxes II mod. In the spirit of fairness, I thought I should include Kexikus' version as well. My conclusion? Kexikus' version is the superior lightning and I recommend their version over mine. Hopefully, you've seen this personal note before downloading mine. Anyway, here's that video: Installation: There are two versions of the lightning now: the original version and the publicly-unreleased-until-now “flare” version. Both versions have their own folder. Choose your version's folder and put the 2 files inside it into your Override folder. The "Original" version has a choice of DDS or TGA. In that particular case, choose either one you wish. Uninstall: Take them out again. Known Bugs: None known at this time. Thank You Section: Zbyl2: For the original testing of this mod. Darth_Sapiens: For creating an alpha channel that made the black background transparent. Kexikus: For pointing out transparency issues in the "Original Version" Darth Parametric: For adding in the missing alpha for the "Original Version", correcting dimensions to power of 4 (2048x2048), and including a DDS version for optimal compression!   2. If up-scaling doesn't work out well for the Polar Plateau skybox, might I suggest using Terragen 2 for them instead?
  3. Welcome back, LOH! I'm glad you're feeling better now. Depression seems to run pretty rampant around the modding community. Hopefully, that "friend" is no longer leeching of you. I'm sure more than a few folks would love for you to do some consult work for them but I won't talk for anyone else.

  7. So, I took the larger, higher-resolution version of the shuttle texture and colored it like the example above. MAL_shutL.bmp Unfortunately, when I tested it in the game, I could hardly tell the difference. (It must be that window in the way that's killing all of the detail.) Still . . . feel free to convert it into a TGA and use it for yourself, if you like. Seeing as the difference was hardly noticeable, it seemed silly to bother to make an official release.
  8. It is interesting to try out this Terragen 2 program. I don't quite have the complete hang of it but then again, I've just started!

  9. While attempting to find the animated lighting texture seen superimposed (occasionally) on the Malachor V skybox, I came across this small yet interesting texture. It's obviously a recolored version of the Telos shuttle but I don't ever recall seeing it on Malachor V or elsewhere. A theory: Could this have been meant to be used as the shuttle that Kreia used to get from Dantooine to get to Malachor V?

  12. SIC: I have a request for future examples you might display on the site . . . Could you show a "before" and "after" so folks can see - right off the bat - how you've improved the textures?
  13. In fact, I'm suggesting we do as much as possible - and NOT skip the items folks tend to miss.
  14. Both my wife and I have finally had our characters make it to the fleet so we'll probably be joining you in a few days. (I work the next two nights.) I have a few suggestions of things we can together as a group besides Operations that might assist us all. I have mentioned at least one of these before. 1) Hunt down all of the World Bosses 2) Going on a Lore Object hunt: To make sure you have them all. For example, have you acquired the Lore Object on Ilum at the south end of the map that was hosting the Gray Secant event? It's right in the middle of the abandoned base in the middle of the map. 3) Collecting all of the Datacrons: Having a consular with the Rescue force power will help out a great deal. And when I say all the datacrons, I do include the really tough ones on the Republic Fleet that give +10 to all stats. I've yet to hear anyone that I know personally that's done it. 4) Band together when one of the "events" (like the Rakghoul Plague and Gree's Gray Secant) come around. This will also tie into both (1) and (2) Now a personal request: could you guys PM me your Red Eclipse names so my wife and I may add you when next we log on to Red Eclipse? Thanks!
  15. I am wondering when M4-78 EP (and TSLRCM 1.8) will be updated/patched to address the issues described in this section? What issues will be dealt with in the next patch?
  16. Just for the record . . . a) what format is your game : Steam, the original discs, or the Collection DVD? Do you have US version or a foreign version? c) What other mods - if any - are you using. Include all mods in your list.
  17. My Red Eclipse character is not at the fleet yet. If I play TOR this week, it will be on my regular server doing Gree stuff up to the 26th.
  18. Emfour - my Jedi Consular - is now at level 6. As long as were discussing things that should be rolled, what crafting skills should we pick? We may as well have a nice variety of items that we can give each other so we can suit up nicely for missions. The level 50's can craft lower end items for the newbies. The new characters can choose crafting classes that the others haven't picked so there's a good varoety across the board. After all, we can't all pick Archaeology! So which crafting skills do you have for each of your Red Eclipse characters, everybody?
  19. I created a new Jedi Consular on Red Eclipse named "Emfour" but I likely won't have to join you all until the Gree thing in done on Ilum. Busy trying to get Reputation points and it's not easy as I only have one level 50 player so I can't farm the Reputation.
  20. Neither mod is compatible with TSLRCM 1.8.2, Gunfire.
