  1. These are all strawmen. I already posted in that thread and never used any of those made up points. Now that you've yet again shown that you one of the people on this site who is apparently incapable of honest discussion, why should I, or anyone else bother?
  2. I checked out of that thread a long time ago, It is currently only filled with vitriolic fans who do nothing more than post videos about how bad TLJ is. I could do the same with videos arguing the opposite points, but why bother? The same happened with the thread discussing episode VII (which I don't love but think is okay, just like TLJ), I spent quite a lot of time working on posts and trying to have genuine respectful conversations but it seems to me that a lot of the Star Wars fans here have some kind of personal vendetta against anything that is Star Wars post-Disney buyout. No one will sway anyone one way or the other, so again: Why bother? And to hear an administrator of this forum plea to keep things civilised when he himself contributes to a very toxic way of discussion (f*ck that random steam user for liking something, amiright) is something I just don't understand. If the point of a discussion is to be so poisonous that every form of opposition won't even bother to check your arguments out anymore, you won. Hope y'all are happy.
  3. Glad to see this thread turned out to be a respectful discussion with no personal attacks whatsoever
  4. TSL comes out. Not liked by some because the previous installment followed Star Wars story beats to a tee. This one is more unexpected and deconstructs some of the lore of the Force. Over the years the hate dies down and it's now considered good. TLJ comes out. Not liked by some because the previous installment followed Star Wars story beats to a tee. This one is more unexpected and deconstructs some of the lore of the Force. (We are now here).

Oh, and let's respect others here and use PM to continue the discussion if you wish. We don't need to bombard 1Leonard or anyone else with notifications of this.

Well, your true on some points, I did not expect Earth in my Star Wars movie. Guess I should have lowered my expectations from a movie set in a galaxy far far away. Silly me...

Shouldn't even expect a good movie? Are you hearing yourself?

  5. This is a misrepresentation of the prophecy in the prequel, which is confirmed by Lucas to ultimately be about Anakin, not Luke. Besides that, being the Chosen One has never stated to bring a large amount of power with it, only that they'd bring balance to the Force, which is not something directly correlated to being an all-powerful being. (Btw, I think the prophecy is a ridiculous plot element, even after the three prequels we know more about Snoke than about the prophecy, which is saying something.) I agree with you on the fact that Rey is incredibly powerful for someone whose Force has just Awakened. There seems to be a general inflation in Force Power if you look at the production order of the movies, with each movie having to outdo the previous one. Of course, this also corresponds with cheaper technologies and better CGI. Episode I-II-III can be explained by the jedi having trained for a long time and being actual masters of the Force. Episode VII and VIII don't have an in-universe explanation for some of the feats that are shown yet. Maybe there will be, I hope there will be, because if there isn't one it would be detrimental to the trilogy as a whole. This is a pretty emotional point and I have trouble understanding what you mean through all the rage so I'll only talk about the incentive to watch Episode IX. Seeing as how you talk about why you feel why you don't want to see IX, I'd like to tell you why I feel I still do. TLJ has mainly been about failure: Luke's failure to train new jedi, Finn/Rose's failure to find the codebreaker and save the resistance, Poe's failure to follow orders, Leia/Hondo's failed leadership, Snoke's failure to see Kylo Ren's betrayal coming, Rey/Kylo's failure to turn each other to their respective sides, even though they understand each other better now. To me, it is interesting to see the outcome of all these failures, because you are supposed to become better from failing, which is the exact point Yoda makes as well. I expect IX to have a timeskip in order for both the Resistance and the First Order to reform themselves in some sort. We see in the end of VIII that Rey and Kylo still have their Force Bond which can mean several things (is Snoke still alive? Was the bond not is doing? If so, whose was it?) We know Rey and Kylo will meet again to decide the fates of both the resistance and the First Order We know Rey has taken the Jedi Books with her onto the Millenium Falcon, could this save the Jedi? We now know that the Force strives for a balance, what does that entail? What are the consequences of this? We still need to know why Rey is so powerful (In my opinion this needs to be answered, could also be connected to the above) However, it's okay if you don't like this movie, nobody forces you to. Nobody forces you to watch the next one either.
  6. Jenny Nicholson, right? I've seen this in my circle of friends as well, I could go into why I did not like Rogue One but that's not what this post is for. As for TLJ, it was okay, there were some very good things about it and some things I didn't really get. First of, the Finn/Rose/Casino subplot was really slow. I'd rather they'd cut that in order to focus on Rey/Luke/Kylo, which was way more interesting throughout the film. The throne room scene and subsequent fight scene were very well done and excitingly choreographed and filmed. I liked the film for playing with and subverting the audience's expactations. After the TFA people wanted something new and fresh, they got it. I liked that Rey is a nobody. If she was another Skywalker or Kenobi it would make the galaxy feel really small. Other families are allowed to be Jedi and heroes as well, right? I did not care for purplehair one bit and I believe her role and sacrifice should have gone to Admiral Ackbar. (Killing the First Order's ship with a... trap, perhaps?) Leia spacewalk was stupid and unexplained and I wish they wouldn't have done it. It felt as a good place to kill the character. I liked this film for deepening the audience's understanding of the story's universe. Viewing the trilogy as a three act structure the second act is ideal for doing just that (see Ep. V with Yoda training Luke). In this film they went further into what the Force is and how it always strives for Balance (Prequel Prophecy, anyone?). Plus they gave us insight into Ben's motivation, part of me wanted Rey to join him. However the movie dropped the ball with one of its biggest subjects: Snoke. By killing him they made it impossible to answer the question of who/what he is. IF this gets explained in the next movie, audience won't care because he is already dead. IF he is somehow still alive in some form it lessens the impact of his death. It's a catch-22. I respect this film for taking chances. Some worked out, some did not.
  7. Don't know, are they? Do they entice the consumer to buy something with the chance they get what they want even though there is an option that they don't? Or are the consumers able to directly buy what they want? Is there a random element in it or not?
  8. That would entail redesigning the complete multiplayer experience. For the consumers, the point of buying the game is the ability to play it. For the publisher, the point of consumers buying the game is selling as much crystals as possible. Those two are mutually exclusive: as soon as the decision is made to include the ability of buying new content, said content will suffer by being walled off either pre- or post-production. Remember, this is not EA's first foray into micro-transactions, they've done it in the FIFA soccer games for years, with results. Sadly, boycotting is only a small part of the solution. People have to stop buying into the lootbox mechanic, even if it's just for cosmetic items like skins. The only compromise would be taking out the random element, with consumers able to directly buy a skin or piece of new content, which in most games is either impossible or the content is horribly overpriced.
  9. I think it's extremely naive to give EA/Dice the benefit of the doubt just because they shut down micro-transactions. First of, this shutdown is only temporary and the micro-transactions will return, either when they have retooled the mechanics around it, or when the outrage has died down, whichever one comes first. Secondly, even if the micro-transactions don't return (which they will) and EA/Dice actually takes time to completely retool the games' systems (which they won't), they already admitted that they will not take out the lootboxes in any way whatsoever, it's supposedly a central part of the experience. Which brings me on my final point: people are focusing on the wrong problem. The micro-transaction were only a small part of the whole design of the game. The problem with the game is actually the progression system. With Battlefront II you don't buy a complete game, you buy a chance to start completing your game. There are parts of the game which are locked away behind paywalls which can only be removed by two ways: time or money. EA/Dice only removed one of those two ways. It's still expected of the player to put in a significant amount of time in order to unlock a single piece of new content. Personally, I could live with parts of the game being kept away as a kind of reward for players - we've had completionist rewards in games for years - but in this case the content is both: - Critical for the players' enjoyment (Darth Vader, The Emperor AND Luke Skywalker are all hidden?) - Way too time consuming to unlock (Gaming already is time consuming as it is) The fact is, the unlocking of new content is based upon random chance, a chance which you can increase in your favor if you pay. To me, this is borderline gambling and unethical and I'd urge anyone to not support these practices.
  10. I'm chuffed to bits. Awesome work!
  11. The new tools are amazing! Glad I still check in from time to time. I feel a certain *itch* coming up again :)

  12. This is great! The game kept lagging on my TI-84
  13. FYI, the Steam version of KotOR 2 already includes the HQ movies update patch.
  14. Does anyone here have some documentation saved on how UV mapping works on KotOR models?

      DarthParametric

How do you mean? How it is stored in the MDL file, or something else? There's nothing special in general terms.

    2. Fair Strides

      Fair Strides

Nothing special like DP says, but a quick run-down is this:

Each vertex has a UV position (like 0.99 0.99) which is an XY point on the texture.

Each vertex in a face has one of those UV coordinates, and the space that face uses is calculated between those three XY coordinates.

Lastly, each of those coordinates is a percentage between 0.0 and 1.0, which is why the texture doesn't always benefit from being upscaled.

  15. I always feel a little sad when I finish TSL :(

  16. That content pack from the steam workshop in combination with TSLRCM is almost certain to crash your game as far as I know.
  17. It's time to go back in an issue I came across a long time ago and I need your thoughts. Basically, in TSL, the pmhc06 model (short blonde hair, blue eyes) has missing animations: his eyes never move and he never blinks. After looking at the model it seems that some bones (if they're called something else please tell me, i'm not really familiar with the terminology) in his facial area are misnamed: left eyelid = eylidL (should be eyeLlid) right eyelid = eyelidL01 (should be eyeRlid) left eye = eyeL (should be eyeLA) right eye = eyeR (should be eyeRA) In my mind, renaming these would be the first step to fixing the missing animations. However, this is where it gets tricky. I've tried renaming them in several ways and orders, and every time the model screws up ingame. Things that haven't worked: Hexediting the Ascii and recompiling: same as above but with VP's Headfixer: Replacing in Mdlops: Anyone have another idea on how to get this done?
  18. Seems like a complete scorched earth tactic. Either he got served a C&D (which I highly doubt as Apeiron hasn't got one yet) or he followed the advise given to him by some comments and will complete this in secret before trying to release it and getting a lot of attention.
  19. It's not about being a grammar nazi, it's about other people being able to read your contributions without getting confused or interpreting them the wrong way.
  20. IIRC, the puzzle actually has two solutions but I'm not sure if the game recognizes them both. Source (somewhere on this page)
  21. Uninstalled Steam and have stopped gaming for a while. Will still be around here periodically. Peace

  22. Did you give Mical a haircut? Looks pretty good! I'm excited to see how the texture will turn out!
  23. I'd care if I were still an active user and someone had rehosted my mods somewhere else. It's hard to push through updates of your mods when you're not in charge of all places the mod is uploaded. However if I were not active anymore and the last place the mod was hosted went down, I would not care.
  24. Honestly, I've kinda given up on the attitude that mods should never be rehosted. As long as people make it clear that it is not their own content and that said content can not reasonably be found elsewhere I don't see the problem with people preserving mods by rehosting them when the only place they can be found on goes down.
  25. It looks indistinguishable from TFA. I was hoping they'd go for directing and visual styles more distinct from the main trilogies for the Anthology films. Can't say anything about the main character yet, as we've barely seen her. Hope she'll have more character growth than Rey had in TFA.
