  1. Ah yes, I remember seeing some incredibly inane comments on Shem's videos. If I can find the files, I may send them to you Hunter's Run. If not I may have to go into a big explanation and that could take a while. I had a great idea. What if I played through Cathalan and uploaded the video with a commentary? I feel like that would really piss off Jaevyn, but it would be quite funny.
  2. The point not being that it's from youtube, but that Jaevyn, having been banned from LF for such a failure of a mod, seems to think he can make an intelligent analysis on a community he was never really a part of. This doesn't bother me - it's just really funny.
  3. Worst? You talking about Peragus or the polarizing nature of my HK Factory? Had I ever left? I only ever stopped modding, not coming around here.
  4. This may be coincidence, but HK Factory was my main contribution. Are you sure you're not biased in saying it's the best part of TSLRCM? I also contributed to Peragus as well.
  5. I wasn't originally going to post anything, but this just ended up being so funny that I had to share. I also know nothing helps promote community bonding like a common enemy. Darth Balor/Pikmin was the guy back in the day and it's about time we had a new one. Not that we really need one - but we got one anyways. But I'd like to preface my fun story with a little tidbit that happened a while back. Like many awesome people nowadays, I have a smartphone. Whenever I get Gmails, my phone will alert me with Navi saying "HEY, LISTEN!" (That's for you, ZM90). Usually it's important stuff, but this particular one was on a youtube comment on one of my videos. I immediately thought it strange because I don't really have that many videos, so I wondered what someone could possibly have commented on my video. I went and checked it out. Lo and behold on my promo video of the HK Factory (Well-known for having featured HK-50s and HK-51s comes this comment) For those who are wondering, I know that there are HK-51s in TOR. Whether or not they are bastardized versions of them is up for debate (I'll decide when I get there). Maybe I'm overreacting, but with all of the time I've spent replaying the HK Factory, it's hard to imagine someone NOT knowing about the TSL HK-51s. And that brings me to my main story. So again, checking my Gmail and it tells me I have a message on Youtube. It's probably spam or someone with a personal vendetta I thought, but I had just brought my brother to work at 5 AM and I wasn't tired. So I read and I find out it's the latter. But it's not just any old annoying person on Youtube. That was begot from this comment of mine. 5 months ago. So, what is this about? Well, I'll fill you in. A while ago, there was this fellow named Jaevyn. He started up a WIP thread he was working on for a planet named Cathalan. Thread can be found here. If you don't want to read it, it basically it consists of everyone at Holowan Labs praising the idea behind his mod. This is a good example of why story mods can never be gauged well from screenshots. And this is the perfect example of how something with a great idea can turn out to be truly terrible. While my main gripe was the irrationally orange characters, there were a slew of other issues that plagued it. It was fairly buggy, and while that itself isn't a crime (except against modding) his mod ultimately was banned for using copyrighted material. But more about those orange people. You may wonder why it is an issue at all. When he released the mod, I was the first one to criticize his orange people. It wouldn't have been so bad if they weren't so contrasted with the rest of the environment. We're talking dark blue backgrounds that made them look neon orange. According to Jaevyn, it is the atmosphere of the planet that makes them orange. Fine, make the environment orange too. Fallen Guardian and NewbieModder asked the same question, but his explanation to them is that it was his computer that was making them orange... WHAT? Anywho, I'm sure Sith Holocron will chime in about his ridiculousness. I'm pretty sure Jaevyn has a blog post on his site about how Lucasforums is.... something. If you want to see how truly terrible the mod is, you can download it here. I don't know if it has gotten any better since I played it last. One silver lining is that it has VO from Zhaboka which is stellar. Lastly, I want to comment on Jaevyn's attempts to put me down as a modder - not that they are successful in any way, but so you can see how ridiculously inane his commentary actually is. Hiatus? Well, actually that might be appropriate because I'm on hiatus as well. Oh wait... except he was banned Yeah, except this which has been very difficult, if not impossible to pull off in the past (and had to be done manually). And now I released a Visas, Revan and Exile head. There are Bastila heads around too. Seems of decent consequence. Not to mention I have people re-releasing my own mods (Thank you Fallen Guardian) and I've contributed to both TSLRCM and ROR. Armoured Robes are featured in 90SK Ultimate Appearance Mod. I combined the cloak from a Jedi robe and the Heavy Armor. This is not Darth Darkus or Dak Drexl's mod. Nothing against them, but this is a bit more complex than reskins. Again in the 'difficult to pull off' section of modding. The holographic sabers you may not know much about. . Really what I was trying to do was to come up with a way you could edit and change lightsabers on the workbench in real-time. It's a long story, but essentially what I had to do to get that working involved modeling, the correct placement of scripts and dummies and in actuality, that holographic effect is the same that is applied to characters in hologram scenes in the game, thus negating the requirement for endless reskins. That lightsaber is an invisible character model that is being rendered with the hologram effect See above. As you can see, Jaevyn is quite a silly fellow. And all of this simply because he had to defend his decision to make people orange. Even to this day he argues that it's because of the atmosphere of the planet. I wish the release thread was still around so you could see him desperately try to defend his position. In all fairness, maybe i was a little mean, callous, overly-critical. On the other hand, people are not orange.
  6. US Central Daylight Time: -5:00 I guess I would be available at 23:00 for whatever the standard time would be (0:00) Even though I'm only on Coruscant.
  7. EU canon is fairly more entertaining than the film-canon. Plus side being that you can pick and choose which parts you want to read. I could read about Mando'a history but ignore the plight of the Gungans
  8. DPS = Damage per Second right? That sounds like me. Although it doesn't look like I have any control over how I level up as a Jedi Knight. Does it depend on the profession I choose?
  9. Also, it looks like for players under 10, you can't get whispers from non-friends or group members.. or something idk. Either way, I added Zbyl as a friend. Who else should I add? Oh also I just spent 2 hours questing with this random Consular I met while fighting some Flesh Raiders.
  10. Do I have to finish all of my Tython stuff before I'm available to group with you guys? Pretty much only me and my brother were able to group via our laptops.(Because we're both starting new) I told him to join Red Eclipse so we would be able to hang with my DeadlyStream bros at least though. Man, I'm excited.
  11. I don't pay a lot of attention to the chat screen. Sorry lol Try Adding me as a friend I guess
  12. I am f2p... do I need to subscribe to team up? I'm still learning how to play the damn game. Name: VarsityPuppet (duh) Class: Level 4 Jedi Knight (I know, pretty original, right?)
  13. I just started playing TOR tonight (Yeah, I got it back in November....) This is my first MMO experience so I'm looking to play with my DeadlyStream peeps. And yes, I play on Red Eclipse
  14. There are already so many movies coming out in 2015 anyways. Avengers 2, Justice League.... uh... well You can't get much bigger than those two.
  15. It felt more like a Mass Effect movie to me. At least most of the Star Fleet stuff. I only hope that he uses ANH, ESB and most of ROTJ as a guiding force... and not the prequels
  16. I'm quite happy with it. If it takes the same tone as Star Trek (which I know is up to the writers as well) then Star Wars has a pretty good chance of avoiding the prequel happenstance

  18. Hello there folks. Still on hiatus. No mods are being worked on. At this point, I'm not even sure if I'll ever have time to devote to any more projects. To ever come back and finish it is seeming less and less likely every day. That said, this is what I've been doing in the meantime. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol5YvUbm3ic This is at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 in Las Vegas. A friend and I have been developing a game app for Canopy as part of an internship program with my school. It just so happened that we managed to get a polished enough demo to them and they're showing it off at the show. Neat, huh? I thought so. I know it doesn't look real hopeful for me kicking it into full Modding mode again, but at least know that I'm still doing my thing.
  19. Indeed. Do you think the Reapers will attack Earth on Friday?
  20. We have quite a few years until we run into a Terminator/Skynet scenario, so I'm not worried. Night of the First Day here
  21. I'm with Evil Q on this. Making bik movies with a high resolution is going to be a waaaay better idea than loading a cutscene module for half a second, play another video and then loading up another scene. Hell, if I were you guys, I would just overlay Atton's lines (while piloting the Telos Shuttle) on the cutscenes where he's flying by and gets shot down. Kreia's fall even - Using audacity and just matching up the sounds with the new bik video (generated from an in-game cutscene)... why wouldn't that work? It would be super easy to do, easy to load, you can ensure that it looks the same every time the scene fires... Is it me or are Evil Q and myself the only ones who really understand how useful it is?
  22. I know this is off-topic, but I'm also tired of hearing about sexism in video games. It always rubs me the wrong way when people post things like this: Anyone want to take a guess as to what's totally off base here? I know the online persecution is for the most part true, but I absolutely HATE when people consider only COD over XBL or PSN as the only form of gaming. It's a blatant lie! So since not a lot of women are into FPS games, that means that women don't play Video Games? That doesn't make any sense!!!!
  23. This reminds me of a rant by Bill Hicks... ..basically they're putting the cart before the horse. In Bill's rant, he goes on to explain that Playboy is NOT the cause of sexual thought. There exists sexual thought, thus there is Playboy. Same with video games. Violent Video games do not instill violent thought - there is violent thought, thus there are violent video games. And I know there is research that shows that violent video games do correlate with increased aggression, but what it really boils down to is the person and the thought behind it. Or as others mentioned, there's a mental factor that people are ignoring. I play Halo, have massacred villagers in Fable, killed people for no good reason in TSL, Mass Effect (so on and so forth) and how come I haven't gone on a murderous rampage? Anyone want to wager a guess? (no, the answer is not "I lack the resources")
