Jumpin' Jesus on a pogo stick, it works like an absolute charm! Thank you a thousand times!

I don't really need that since my translation work has an all-new TLK included. I was thinking about just including the .tlk and a modified version of this script (since I don't know any mod that does any changes to the Towers of Hanoi puzzle anyways). I dunno if it's just my inexperience or is this script weird, but when I extract it, load it up in KSE, save it as an .nss and try to compile it back without any changes, it refuses to do so, displaying a syntax error.

I stumbled upon a script that injects some text lines into the dilaogue. The lines are all written inside the script itself. As far as I can tell, KotOR scripts are very unkind to non-Latin letters and when I try to replace it with some cyrillic text... well, the sucker just won't compile. My question is: is it possible to add new strings to the .TLK and then modify the script so it refers to those strings instead?

Hello there! I know it's kind of a weird question, but does anyone know which file the default player character name variants are? It's not in the .TLK and I haven't found them in any of the .2DA files, so I'm at a loss here. Can anyone help me out with that?

MOD:K1 Main Menu Widescreen Fix - Revan Edition
JayDominus replied to DarthParametric's topic in Mod Releases
File this under "things I never knew I wanted until I saw them". That's a really cool idea and flawless execution! -
That's great to hear. Sadly, just modifying the TLK headers didn't do the trick, but now at least I have a hope. Could anyone please PM me the Polish swkotor.exe and TLKs so I could look into them? EDIT: I found a Polish language patch and applied it to the Steam version... after experimenting with it, it seems that the .exe file in the Polish retail release was modified to support dialogF, seeing as it doesn't work with the Steam version (I did a simple test, modified Trask's very first phrase in both dialog and dialogF and sure enough, dialogF didn't work).

So I'm trying to fix the god-awful Russian translation of K1 into something that's actually readable, while a friend of mine is busy making a translation of K2. But thing is, Russian is one of the languages that has very peculiar tense rules when it comes to male and female phrases and doing everything properly would require different strings for different-gendered characters. BioWare's previous games - Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate both had a file called DialogF.tlk. Depending on your PC's gender, the strings would load from either Dialog.TLK (male) or DialogF.TLK (female). From what I can tell, KotOR 1-2 don't support dialogf.tlk... or do they? Can anyone clear me on this subject? @Fair Strides, sorry for pinging you, but I saw you mention DialogF once or twice on the forums, do you know if I can enable it for K1 and/or 2? (and BTW, thanks for the tlk-txt converter tools, I use'em to this very day, they are magnificent). EDIT: Oh goddammit, wrong forum, I meant to post it in General KotOR/TSL modding. Sorry!

Yeah, a vanilla PC portraits companion to this mod would be awesome. This mod is now pretty much essential to my Override and the PC sticks out like a sore thumb.

Well, this isn't the mod I ever expected to see, which only makes it all the more awesome. Doing God's work there.

Kyle Katarn Facts (New Edition) (Possible Episode VII Spoilers).
JayDominus replied to ZM90's topic in Star Wars
Disney didn't buy Star Wars. They bought Kyle Katarn and the rest of the Star Wars was tossed in as a freebie. Raven's Claw has no hyperdrive. Kyle just Force Pushes it into the hyperspace. Whenever Kyle enters a bar, the bartender will turn into a chiss. Why? Noone knows. Kyle works in mysterious ways. Kyle doesn't shave his beard with a lightsaber. He shaves lightsabers with his beard. While Han made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, Kyle was the one warping all the laws of physics and grammar to make it possible. -

So refreshing to see an article that doesn't gush about this so-called remake because the picture is pretty and actually takes it with a pinch of salt the whole project needs. To be fair, I can't help but wonder if all the garme jurnalists who post about this on their websites ever played the original game. It's only one of the most acclaimed games of 6th gen, not an obscure 8-bit computer puzzle game. Even if we brush aside the fact that the game looks absolutely nothing like KotOR aside from loose themes (spaceship #11 = Endar Spire, sci-fi city #7 = Taris, Tattoine = ...well, Tattooine, but it looks far more Mos Eisley than Anchorhead which shouldn't look all that neon-ish and stuff because it's A MINING COLONY FIRST AND FOREMOST) - and it does - this project will never see the light of day. Shooters are easier to make than RPGs and Black Mesa is STILL unfinished to this day. Heck, Streets of Rage Remake, a remake of a 2D beat'em up into a slightly more advanced 2D beat'em up (its main feature was enhancing gameplay and featuring all the levels and characters from all the games) took about SEVEN YEARS to make. Apeiron will never ever see the light of day - and frankly, with the direction that it's going, I don't really want it to - and bear in mind that KotOR is one of my absolute favoritest games of all time.

KotOR II's deconstruction is not about the events that happened in it, but about the views it presents on the universe, the Jedi and the Force, using Kreia as the mouthpiece. While she dies in the end and you can rebuild the Order, you never quite end up provided with why the Jedi ARE good for the Republic and galaxy at large. Frankly, the revelation of what actually happened at Malachor V serves to drive the deconstructive point home.

The main difference is that writing-wise KotOR is a reconstruction of Star Wars while KotOR II is a deconstruction. KotOR picks together everything we know and love about Star Wars, character archetypes and plot points lifted straight from the original trilogy are put together in one big package. Kind of like Episode VII, only clever and subtle and not in-your-face about it. While it can sometimes be dark, in general it's fun, it's cheesy (of course it is, it's Star Wars, go read Azimov for serious sci-fi) and it's the work that made me into a Star Wars fan. Since I grew up with the Prequels and had no means of watching the OT back in the day, the whole Vader is Luke's daddy plot twist was kind of spoiled to me from the get-go... which only made the Darth Revan plot twist all the more shocking. It's one of two times when a character reveal left me with my jaw on the floor (the second time was at the end of the last (well, now penultimate) Witcher book). KotOR II is dark, twisted, mysterious and, at times, unpleasant. The sense of camaraderie from the first game is replaced with distrust and paranoia, the goals are unclear (and once the Jedi Masters are gone, they are less clear than ever) and everybody has ulterior motives. It's really not the game I was expecting a KotOR sequel to be. And since I was about twelve when I first played it... yeah, I kind of resented it for it. It punished me for trying to be the good guy, didn't have most of the cast from the first one and what the hell was up with that ending. While nowadays I appreciate it more for its writing and philosophy and deconstructive angle, a part of that resentment still remains within me. Oh, and TOR is about taking everything about KotOR and KotOR II and flushing it into a toilet.

File Name: VP's Canon Revan with 'Stache File Submitter: JayDominus File Submitted: 11 Aug 2015 File Category: Skins K1R Compatible: Yes Note: Requires VarsityPuppet's canon Revan mod installed. NAME: VP's Canon Revan with 'Stache ORIGINAL TEXTURE BY: RedRob LS TEXTURE BY: qwerty-ru DS 1-3, ICONS FOR ALL FIVE VERSIONS: Me So, the story goes like this: I was always a fan of the Scarface head and I loved VP's Revan head, but there's one thing that always bugged me about both: they look cool with the 'stache, but not so cool without it and they only have it when full DS. And while Scarface got all his 'stache needs covered by Iniry's wonderful retextures, VP's Revan got less hairy love. So qwerty-ru made the LS version of Revan's head with 'stache all the way back in 2012 and I just decided to finish it all up - added the 'stache to the three other versions and made icons for all of them. Now the icons look like a bit of a crap, but I hope they at least got this "mentally ill person with MS paint" charm to them. At any rate, there it is. You gotta have VP's head installed before you install this one though. Drinking game: take a shot every time you see the word 'stache above. INSTALLATION: Just dump the .tga's in the Override, chief UNINSTALLATION: Delete PMHC01.tga, PMHC01d1.tga, PMHC01d2.tga, PMHC01d3.tga, po_pmhc1.tga, po_pmhc1d.tga, po_pmhc1d1.tga, po_pmhc1d2.tga and po_pmhc1.d3tga. You'll probably want to delete the other PMHC01 files as well, though they are not mine. Click here to download this file

I played it, love it to death. Works like a charm, good optimization, good controls, quick saves and loads are present, overall a very solid version of a pretty good game.

KotOR Re-Release Inbound?
JayDominus replied to ChrisC26's topic in Knights of the Old Republic General
I don't see any harm in KotOR being remade if it will be. They cannot screw the canon up any more than TOR did and the first game could use an update to its writing and some expansion. And hey, if it sucks, it's not like the original games are going away.
