HL2files, Kotorfiles, JK2files, all gone. There goes an element of my childhood. This will also limit my ability to mod both JK2/JK3 and the Kotor games severely. I hope we'll be able to upload more backups of the more popular mods here, such as ShemL's mods. I have plenty of backup mods for Kotor from Kotorfiles, but none for TSL.

Figured people here could get a chuckle out of this
Mephiles550 replied to Hassat Hunter's topic in KotOR1 Restoration (K1R)
lol, the part where all you really need is a type of grenade and one of the three rancor poison serums you pick up and he thought it was too hard. XD Apparently, this is a pretty common problem. You'd think people would pay more attention to the severed arm right before the Rancor. -
Like Mutilator57 said, both the armor of Darth Bandon and the silver variant found on certain Dark Jedi can be found on kotorfiles. The version for TSL works perfectly fine, even offering alternative textures by ShemL. The Kotor version never worked properly for me, and when I messed around the appearance file to get it to work, Bandon's armor would be transparent. This is fixable by removing the shader for the texture in GIMP, but the texture just looks too ugly for me without proper shading.

Name your favorite game that isn't Star Wars!
Mephiles550 replied to TheDarkChocolateJedi's topic in Other Games
Legend of Zelda, Streets of Rage, Sonic the Hedgehog, Half Life 2, Halo, and Amnesia, just to name a few. -
A Rancor... LOLWHAT? There aren't even any Rancors in TSL, let alone one guarding the crystal cave. My guess is that the Azgath N'Dul's tomb mod is likely the cause of this, as it edits multiple planets, not just Korriban. I never could get the mod to work right, but I never recall it making a Rancor appear on Dantooine. Could you provide an image also? This I want to see.

Thank you! I've been looking forever for that texture and that is definitely it. I've known about those textures in the past and got confused when naming a new texture with one of those two names wouldn't replace Taris seen from the Leviathan. I wonder what they were even used for. A galaxy map beta?
-
There's a texture in Kotor called "LKA_Lightbeam666". It goes from 1-5 and then just 666. I laughed.
-
Could you tell me the name of this texture? I've been trying to find it and I thought I found it a couple of times before but they weren't it. I'm asking because I'm testing with a place holder mod that changes the sky of Taris to red and I want to recolor the planet texture seen there to red to go with it. I'm also now leaning towards V6 as my favorite.
-
For whichever version you choose, do you think you can replace the texture of Taris that can seen from the Leviathan when Malak talks to Saul? I can't find the texture myself, and I've always wanted to make it recolor it to match how the planet would look from the perspective of other texture mods.
-
Hmm... I'm torn between versions 3 and 4. I guess I'm leaning towards V4.

This has been a pretty damn good year for the HKs, hasn't it? My only issue with these wonderful textures is that the HK-47 hybrid's leg joints look so dark that they almost seem completely untextured. That's pretty much it. Everything else is god tier.

He said a K1 version is a possibility. Just don't pester him too much about it. This is an amazing model and texture rework for the HK models. Your mod earned a permanent place in my game.

Is your .EXE not included? No one should have to install the TSLpatcher themselves.

You don't need to download the TSL patcher. It works automatically with each individual mod with slightly different setup depending on how the mod creator intended it to work. As for the holster, for TSL, you could just switch your weapons to an empty set before a conversation if you find it that annoying.

How likely do you think the possibility for a Kotor 1 remake is? TSL seems highly doubtful, but I think there is a possibility, though slim, for Kotor 1
-
Two very minor things. The dialogue splicing done for M4-78 can be noticeable choppy and feels both unnatural and unfitting sometimes. This second one can hardly be helped, but the limited mod compatibility is a little annoying. That's pretty much impossible to fix, though. I can still take assets from certain incompatible mods and use them with TSLRCM with a few file adjustments here and there.

I'll be flat out honest with you when I say this... I think that this is probably the best Dantooine graphics overhaul I've ever seen. The textures are rich, colorful and almost have a cell shaded style on them. I can also tell you've got a custom skybox for this. This will be an instant download whenever I see that you've released it. I'm especially looking forward to a Taris visual mod as well. Keep up the great work!

I don't think there's that much of a problem as long as the majority of the buildings in that render look like Tarisian-style buildings, which they do. A few unique buildings here and there are no problem. Like you said though, the colors do need adjusting. Looks great so far. I'll be looking forward to this.

I see it too, but it really shouldn't be that noticeable in game when you're not placing the majority of your focusing on the skybox alone.

How to mod kotor2 on the xbox
Mephiles550 replied to TheDarkChocolateJedi's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Plenty of reasons, although it usually boils down to the fact that some people just prefer the feel of using a console to play a video game with a controller in hand rather than with a keyboard and up close monitor. This is especially the case for a console pre 7th generation. I can relate. An emulator or PC copy of an old game sometimes just can't compare with holding a wired controller in your hand while playing the game from a console. Anyway, I've never had the balls to do it as a kid because I was afraid I would screw up my original Xbox and I have no interest in modding consoles now that I have a perfectly good PC to satisfying my modding needs. Not to mention the fact I sold all of my consoles months ago. http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=166492 This guide is almost a decade old, but I think it should be useful. Good luck trying to play M4-78 on an xbox. It runs slow enough on my PC as it is. -
I remember getting my crystal to work exactly the way I wanted to with each different saber type, but I know it took me a long time to do so. I may have done it differently than the way you described. It's been over a year though, so I don't remember the specifics.
