Blog #32 - Coruscant as envisioned by Ralph McQuarrie
Sith Holocron posted a blog entry in Sith Holocron's Blog
"I can still remember all the glittering lights of Coruscant. Very pretty. Can we go back there, Master?" - HK-47, Knights of the Old Republic Ralph Angus McQuarrie (June 13, 1929 – March 3, 2012) was an American conceptual designer and illustrator. His career included work on the original Star Wars trilogy, the original Battlestar Galactica TV series, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Cocoon, for which he won an Academy Award. These are the concept paintings that he did for Coruscant. Shuttle approaches Imperial City, Coruscant Imperial City Skyline, Coruscant Imperial City Hangar Bay, Coruscant (Note the layout of this painting - it's very close to what they used for the shot of the Qui-Gon's and Obi-Wan's Republic Cruiser at the beginning of The Phantom Menace.) Imperial City Underground, Coruscant Imperial City Shuttle Port, Coruscant Imperial City Streetscene, Coruscant Imperial City, Coruscant Imperial City, Walkways, Coruscant Monument Plaza, Coruscant (Does this angle remind anyone a little bit of the Geonosis Arena in Attack of the Clones or is it just me?) Imperial Palace [interior], Coruscant Imperial Palace, Coruscant Imperial City, Entertainment District, Coruscant (A version of this was used in Season 2 of Star Wars: Clone Wars) Polar Caps Waterworks, Coruscant -

Animated Ebon Hawk Monitors (Not including Galaxy Map) ============================================================= AUTHOR: Sith Holocron, Dark Hope, and Xarwarz ORIGINAL RELEASE: 06 APR 2016 UPDATED RELEASE 01: 19 JAN 2019 UPDATED RELEASE 02: 09 APR 2022 GAMES: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2 Description: ------------ When Xarwarz was working on a sample of a monitor texture for the Ebon Hawk, I had suggested to him that it could use a bit of animation to liven it up. Towards that end, I asked Quanon if he could render out a frame frames of a wire-frame model of the Ebon Hawk. I added in some sine wave activity and threw in some Aurebesh for good measure. One of the monitors was now animated. The other frames have more subtle animations in them - you can see the computer inputs going up and down and various colors changing around. Though I've placed this in the Knights of the Old Republic 2 section, this mod is compatible with both games. Installation: ------------- For Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 - Extract the "LEH_scre01.tga" and the "LEH_scre01.txi" files into the SWKotOR2/Override folder. For Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 - Extract the "LEH_scre01`.tga" and the "LEH_scre01.txi" files into the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic/Override folder. Uninstall: =============== Take them out again. Known Bugs: =========== None known at this time. Credits: ======== LSaberDuelist and OldFlash (of LucasForums) for their instructive discussion and tutorial at LucasForums. (http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=153502) Xarwarz: For putting together the original texture! @Quanon: For providing the wire-frame models of the Ebon Hawk! @Dark Hope: For her original cockpit texture, for releasing her version to Deadly Stream, allowing me to adjust it as I see fit, and to include it in this package. @ebmar: For adjusting Dark Hope's new texture by adding a little depth to it and adding the overlay over the monitors shown in the “With Glass Overlays” folder. Here's what it looks like in game. Thanks to @Mellowtron11 for providing the game save so I could get this video done relatively quickly! BTW: Looking for something a little more subtle? Check this mod for an alternate look. -

If you find a mod herr that you like, please tell the creator what you liked about it. It will help them to know if they are on the right track of creating things that people enjoy and use in the game.

Has your friend tried Flawless Widescreen?

Glad you're OK!

Salk: By all means, keep reporting.

Shouting it would be ever-so rude. The mod was actually started yesterday but then I immediately hid the thread until 3AM [EST]. (I was starting it up at midnight for those on the west coast of the U.S.) Yes, indeed this is an April Fool's joke. We wouldn't be having Cathalan here for two major reasons: 1) Jaevyn is pretty much an asshat. (This opinion statement is made solely by me and is not necessarily representative of the rest of the Deadly Stream staff.) 2) The mod has numerous songs that the mod author didn't have the rights to include (but not limited to) the following artists. Queen, Hans Zimmer, Cliff Martinez, Kyle Gabler, Marco Beltrami, and Jody Talbot. In addition, there's major incompetence throughout the mod. The mocking the mod usually gets for the orange - on all characters both inside and outside and the oversaturated skybox - is well deserved. There's also the spelling errors. One was even on the announcement thread. I had to spell check the announcement above too! But SH - what about that Gold Edition download? I thought that meant it was genuine. Did you look closely at it though? Here it is at full size. (I've finally slowed down this GIF. This should closer to the speed that it show up as in the game but obviously, it's much smaller as a monitor.) BTW, the read me that accompanies the file does let on that it's a April Fool's Joke. Still wondering what it plays like even with all of the derision I've just poured on it? Check out VP's video on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVJrSPOWM2U Xuul has also done live playthroughs of the mod on two of his live streams. If you're interested in having him put together a video, let him know. (Maybe he can grab the footage from his playthroughs, slap on a title sequence, and have done with it.) Thanks for the interest and happy April Fool's Day! Update: 10APR2016 [9;30 PM EST] - The link to the Gold Edition download now leads to my Galaxy Map package which includes the April Fool's material in a separate folder.

This thread is getting cranky. That will not do. So, some new rules for this thread. 1) No more caps sentences all in caps. That's shouting and very annoying. 2) The next bit of profanity earns the offender a 7 days suspension. 3) Don't make me merge any more posts. Really. Wait for someone to have a chance to respond before jumping back in again or edit your last post to include your new thought. 4) As long as I'm pointing things out, periods come at the the end of sentences. A space follows them. I'm not mentioning names here as I've corrected the most egregious examples. Just be mindful in the future. Play nicely. That is all.

I'm excited we're bringing a beloved yet controversial mod to the hallowed halls of Deadly Stream . . . Cathalan! To quote Jaevyn's original description of the mod: Here are some screenshots: Jaevyn is updating his mod package so it will work well with TSLRCM but he didn't want you to be completely without something to use today. Click here to get an item that was previously exclusive to the Gold Edition to download! Let's celebrate the premiere of Cathalan on Deadly Stream!

I think I'm OK with it in this case!
-
It's not really a link to where it's described - just an aggregator. Not enough data.
-
Where did you find the picture? That might help tracking it down.

Someone modded my mockery of Aperion into the game? Neat!
