It's a complete non-starter without proper custom VO, especially for the party members and major NPCs like Uthar and Yuthura. But fortunately we are on the cusp of that being a realistic proposition (as in it actually sounding good/natural).

As to the mechanics of the rest of it, the way I'd tackle it would be to create a branching point with a cutscene on the Hawk after landing. If you go the "guns blazing" route then you could just load a separate module. Otherwise you'd get the vanilla module. That would maintain compatibility with existing Korriban mods with minimal issues, although certain mods might need extensions to have their content appear in the other module.

Yeah, I think that the cutscene would have been a brilliant method!

I forgot to mention another one of the issues, which was the door's description implying it was a fortress door, unassailable. IIRC it was something like "this massive door can only be opened from the inside." So either an alternative point of entry or massive force power justification, thus reinforcing the PEL.

Perhaps about the voice acting, just take lines directly from PC's combat engagement in the tomb, the game already has Uthar swearing allegiance. It would be finnicky but I think with enough creative effort and minimalism, you could get something working. Perhaps if you had a way of narratively pre-occupying your party members, I.e they have to fight off screen somewhere, stop reinforcements, transmit some information back to the Republic, etc...

It could also be fun to just recast those characters with other voice actors for the mod as a potential fix.

Always interesting to hear your thoughts on modding DP!

If you want attention of r/kotor, promote your mods on r/kotor with a thread. Many will likely be glad you did.

Possibly. I have considered it. Most of my blogs are just my quirky side narrating recent events to get a few chuckles from myself or others. Yet at the same time, they serve as announcements/advertisement of content. Huh. I'm not sure where my motivation from blogging is coming from, but that's certainly a byproduct of modding, and where does that come from? So if my goal of blogging was to gain attention for my mods, then advertising on /r kotor would be a proper course of action. I haven't thought about this in some time, would be an interesting topic to broach...

Well in truth, local strings - be they in DLGs or UTIs, etc. - are probably sufficient in 99% of cases. But if you want to follow best practice then adding strings would be the proper approach. Then if someone ever wanted to translate your strings, all they need to do is alter the append.tlk, not directly edit every file (which, I'm sure you'll agree, is a real pain in the ass in the case of DLGs).

As to the how, it's not particularly difficult. Have a read of the PDF that comes with TSLPatcher and it should cover most of what you need to know.

Never read the TLK section, but I have read that PDF many times over, even yesterday just to be sure. Yeah, I can see your logic on translating, I'll have to consider that if I make any larger mods.

You need to pick up your copycat game by changing your avatar to a picture of an Exile in a black t-shirt shrugging. It could still have the Mythosaur logo on it.

Tsk, tsk. That's what you get for being a dirty local string user and not properly appending new strings to the TLK.

Wow, I had never thought about either of those things. I just assumed TLK editing was for major projects or whatever; I don't even know how to do it... What a gap in my modding knowledge!

April 26: Boarded ferry from Kodiak to Homer which we finally left around 9PM. Then a long ride from Homer to Anchorage.  Long because there was road work almost the whole way. Didn't check into hotel until 3AM on April 27th. So tired.

Yeah traveling has a way of tiring you out, despite how little you (seemingly) end up doing.

  6. I had no idea that her voice actress changed, nor the history of SW involvement both voice actresses had. Neat to know.

I've never liked how TSL and mods treated Master Kash with her either dead or very limited by dialogue. With the single exception of a modded video, on your channel I believe, that had Master Kash fight Sion to allow the PC to escape, which seemed a little more befitting for a more likable and noble Jedi and accommodated the limitations quite nicely. I could get behind recasting or just giving alien VOs to her to integrate her back into the story/Dantooine scene.

I spent a good part of the summer putting out fires for this mod. Then after I thought it was done, there was some more weird stuff that wasn't even my fault. Nobody's reported anything for a couple months so I think it's safe now.

Hopefully, you never know, had a year go by on one of my mods before learning it didnt' even work....

Handmaiden Sisters - This was the first mod I submitted to Deadly Stream, though it wasn't the first mod I made, not by far. So it didn't have much sentimental value and I neglected it. It had been out of date for a while. I ended up redoing it from scratch for the update.

I didn't know that, I'll have to check that out...

  8. My suggestion would be to have bastila's lightsaber deactivate after she intially runes in.There's a script function to deactivate lightsaber, I can't recall what it is exactly but I was able to tinker with it at one time.

Otherwise, you have the lightsaber clipping into her, not to mention that last moment when she uses the begging animation and the lightsaber goes through her.

Tbh, I really enjoyed the original video, but this one was well done.
