  1. It was better than I was expecting. I actually put off seeing it because of all the bad I've been hearing about it, and what The Force Awakens was like. But it wasn't great, certainly not like the Original Trilogy was. Or even the Prequels. The most annoying part was Admiral Holda (purple hair). I couldn't stand her. She's supposed to be an admiral, vice admiral at that- in the US Navy, that is a political appointment, a three star admiral. I couldn't tell if this was you go grrrl, or a spoof ridiculing women in the military, she was so bad. She flounces around in an evening gown or whatever that was, gives bad orders, and sneers at the young pilots. Then you have the mutinies. Was this a comedy of errors or what? Then she sort of redeemed herself in the end- getting rid of her, but why did they have to off Admiral Akbar? I suppose they are offing the old guard, like the you-tubers are saying. And Rey. I had been sort of annoyed that the only speaking female jedi previously had been old Jocasta Nu, and how the female jedi went down without a fight in the RTS. I wanted to see a decent female Jedi. and they served up this mary sue. I happened to hate the term mary sue, but it fits. If they had done something to show a learning curve for her- like they had done with Luke, she would have been more believable. Some critics make a big deal of how stoic, or apparently angry she is, and I can overlook that. Why not have a tough female character. But not like this. The casino planet was kind of a waste of time- I guess they wanted to have their version of the cantina, but it's weak. Snoke, who was this guy? He wasn't compelling like Palpatine. Hell, Ian Mcdiarmid/Palpatine carried the Prequels, and Palpatine was already a compelling character by the end of the OT. Snoke was just there, and Kylo Ren. There's some backstory to this somewhere, and I suppose they'll serve it up eventually, but there's no hooks other than wondering why are these two there, and what made Kylo really start towards the dark side? There's just not a strong story here. Yes, I do think Rogue One is the best of the new movies. I like it because it focused on soldiers, grunts, renegades, outlaws, and ordinary folk, instead of the Jedi and Sith.
  2. I'll watch it, but, let's be honest, they haven't done Han right since they've took out Han shot first.
  3. For some of us who play Skyrim heavily modded, 2GB is nothing really. You could upload it on Nexus, or Mega. Or use .dds DXT5 compression if you don't want to use TGA. I have to admit a .dds format that can be viewed with photoshop, or GIMP with the usual .dds plugins would be nice. I can't view this format. It's how I judge what retextures I use.
  4. Palpatine/Darth Sidious was Anakin's father. Schmi was a lab specimen who got away and had no memory of being impregnated by manipulated midichlorians designed to produce clones of Palpatine. Instead she gave birth to Ani.
  5. He looks cool? I think he's awesome. Anyone who can run circles around the Jedi is cool
  6. Happy Birthday, Xuul, and thank you for demystifying the installation of uniws on K1. Now I can play widescreen!
  7. That looks like it came out of a really bad sci-fi movie from the 60s I wish Vurt had done a Dantooine retex for K1. His K2 is gorgeous.
  8. He looks really good! Love the blue eyes. I like the Vader Malak, but this one is too good to not try.
  9. Favorite scene: Krennic looks up, sees the Death Star looming on the horizon. The Death Star looked a thousand times more ominous there than it ever did in space shots.
  10. It felt like a tribute to Peter Cushing, imo, it was great seeing him. He was such an awesome actor. Carrie Fisher, yeah, I don't know. It was hard enough at some points watching Rogue One- Bail Organa- "I trust her with my life." I like the idea of her daughter stepping into that role, as someone above suggested. R.I.P. Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. It has been a bad year.
  11. It's too bad they didn't emulate the Xbox controller as much as Bethesda/Steam did with Skyrim.
  12. Yeah, I looked at the site for Flawless and I didn't care for it. I read that you have to turn of grass for Dantooine, which told me that it wasn't 100% compatible.
  13. I've played K2 (and K1) for years on Xbox. While I would much prefer controller support on PC that would emulate Xbox's perfectly, I like that Steam has a workable layout for me. Once I got used to the controller support and how everything works, it's fine for me. I'm glad that Steam/Aspyr has this option. I'd rather go with that instead of trying to figure out how to install widescreen. A big thanks to Xuul's video for demystifying installing Unisw for K1, and it works just fine- K2 seems a little more involved and I don't want to go through that. Right now I'm learning how to bind keys in Controller Companion so I can have controller support in K1. But I would take an Aspyr update to K1 anyday until I have the savvy to really configure what I like. It's not like I can't install GOG KOTOR also, and tweak that, as they have different default file locations anyway. For some of us, time is a factor. I'd rather spend my free time playing, instead of trying to get something to work.
  14. The Hammerhead was a real tribute to KOTOR. And now they are official canon I didn't see them in the background, there were so many things going on, so I was, wait, did the Admiral say Hammerhead? I liked that scene. That will teach the Empire to deploy star destroyers so close to each other. But this entire movie was displaying the flaws of the Empire that was to be exploited by the Rebels, be it personnel (Krennic), strategy, and the use of technology.
  15. I'm chiming in. Yours is the only melee retex that's true to vanilla. I love the look of the vibroswords and always wanted a better retex since I moved from console.
  16. Vader never did like the Death Star. He felt at some level that it was going to be the expensive disaster that it did become- and strategically it was a poor choice for the Empire to focus so much on it. Vader would have been secretly pleased to see it fail. Which made it all the more humorous when Krennic was so enthusiastically talking about it- and got himself Force choked. I laughed at that scene. The fool had no idea that Vader hates the thing. I agree that Vader was letting the rebels lead him to their base. He thought that was more important than the Death Star itself. Leia was going to keep up the façade regardless. The Tantive IV was Bail Organa's diplomatic vessel- Alderaan was a symbol like Naboo, it stood for liberty, enlightenment. Keeping that pose would garner more sympathy from other denizens of the galaxy.
  17. I agree so much. How they showed the dark side of the Alliance, that they were willing to send out an assassin to eliminate a problem. They are shown as more pragmatic. And the riff raff that made up most of Rogue One, it had more of a feel to it, that they had nothing to lose. It felt more realistic, that it was a gathering of those who lost out because of the Empire, including the criminal and rogue elements. As well as those who have lost everything and are trying to survive. It's an old saying, that one's allies are freedom fighters, those who are neutral are guerrilla fighters, and the enemy are terrorists. A depiction of Imperial agents, soldiers, as people who believe they are doing some good, that the Empire isn't a monolithic evil, would be a nice contrast, a real balance. I don't remember the name of the character, but there was a Dark Horse comic series of one of Palpatine's honor guard who was pretty decent. Yeah, it's nice that they showed the Force as a philosophy, and Force adepts who are neither Jedi or Sith. The guy was a Whills adept. I can't imagine what he felt in the Force with so many deaths coming so soon. In Matthew Stover's novelization of ROS, young Vader rocks those one liners as he kills off the stooges on Mustafar, and it felt very much in character. It would have been cool if that was shown in the movie, but it might have detracted from the overall angst and tragedy of the story on the big screen. I just saw the movie today. I liked it better than TFU. TFU didn't have that spark, something about Rogue One did capture some of the OT. The deaths didn't surprise me. If I recall, Mon Motha did state in the New Hope that the plans were obtained at a great loss to the Rebellion. Of course the droid was the best character, followed closely by the wise martial arts fellow. They're getting there with CGI. While certainly it has a lot of room for improvement, it worked for me. Ha ha, I love it that Mads "Hannibal the Cannibal Lector" Mikkelsen put the fatal flaw into the Death Star. Director Krennic reminds me of the Peter Principle, that someone will get promoted beyond their capabilities. He's more concerned with his stylish outfit and his own career, has no real passion for the Empire itself, and clearly isn't in Tarkin's league. But that cape- that smashing cape. Only Vader's is better. We'll see it at many upcoming cons, I'm sure. I loved how the Rogue One Rebels were portrayed. Criminals, scoundrels, all of them, scruffy and gritty, yet real heroes at the end. The battle captured that sense of passion, of those who have nothing to lose and ready to give it all. The Rebels really pulled together in spite of their differences. The battles even have the feel of those old good WWII movies. Hammerheads FTW! I don't care how "impossible" for that one little Hammerhead to push a Star Destroyer. That was awesome. A remora trying to push the shark, in the gills. Hey, maybe Star Destroyers have a vulnerability at that point. There's something about Imperial equipment and hidden flaws... Carth Onasi would have been proud. Vader was awesome, coming out of the dark end of the corridor towards those terrified soldiers like Doom itself... and he still couldn't get his hands on one small CD- tape deck like thing... bwa ha ha ha! But there was a bit of bitter sweetness for me with Carrie Fisher one with the Force.
  18. I'm sure it's mediafire with all of its popups and "repair your download." Is it only KoTOR Weapon Model Overhaul, or are there other files by Toasty Fresh? I have the KoTOR Weapon Model Overhaul, and it checks clean. I can upload it on Mega if it's all right and someone can double check it.

  20. LOL! This is my favorite: [video=youtube;]https://www.youtube.com/embed/Djo_91jN3Pk whelp, embedding videos has never been a talent of mine, sorry
  21. Someone had to convince me to play KOTOR- I had never played video games. So I picked up a used Xbox, and grabbed a second hand copy of the game. (This was years ago.) "Okay, if this game allows me to become a Sith Lord, then I'll be impressed!" famous last words to say the least. The Revan revelation, totally blown away. It was better than "Luke, I am your father." And I had gotten to see that unspoilered, too. It had such a Tales of the Jedi feel to it I was drawn into it. Vibroblades! Awesome! Mandalorians? Cool! Will we ever get to see behind Revan's mask? It looked Mandalorian to me, at least the way the mask was portrayed in the comics. The Sith Code and the Star Forge fascinated me, and I replayed the dialogue with the ancient droid in the Dantooine ruins and the dialogue with Yuthura Ban several times to get all the details. I played the game many times over in the next six months to get all the details and to find all the dark side/light side options. My favorite was dark side male soldier guardian. I chose the PMHA03 head for a Ghengis Khan look, and rp'd it as if this character was an aspiring Sith, even as I wasn't even sure if he could become a Jedi. I had thought Carth would and my character would be an accessory character- thanks, tabletop RPG. When my ds guardian learned he was Revan, he was hopping mad furious! Because he thought his plans of replacing Malak as Dark Lord were blown, since now he was fingered for being Revan. Getting a light saber was awesome, and scoring all those dark side points made me laugh- omg, I called my character Darth A*******. He was just so gloriously terrible! If I had a bad day, I would fire up the ole Xbox and replay that character. Further impressions of the game would take an essay and I'll probably write it up on a blog, but I was impressed to say the least. It also marked my departure from table top gaming. I'd gotten tired of tight fisted control freak GMs and the drama from the other players. 15 level. 16 level! I had never gotten so high a level in table top. See ya! Now I play RPG video games! KOTOR 2 was a total letdown as a sequel, but I play it for the fun, and for the fascinating discussion of the Force and Revan's choices.
  22. For some reason I had gotten the impression that Arren Kae was the Jedi Jaq Rand had murdered in the war, the one he speaks of when he confesses his crime. I never did connect Arren Kae and Kreia, but I can see where Kreia might be Arren Kae. It's not my headcanon, though. I would think that Kreia would be bitter about Revan if she were Arren Kae, because Revan had killed Yusanis. As twisted as her thinking was, I think it would have been consistent if she did harbor ill will towards Revan for killing Yusanis if she were Arren Kae. She certainly expressed her contempt for Atton as a murderer of Jedi. Anyways, the mod is gorgeous.
