ROR Dev Diary 3 - Starting Corellia and Patches
Spectrometer replied to N-DReW25's topic in Revenge of Revan
As always, I love the direction this project is going into. And having unique items be unrepeatable once they are on your inventory is something I always wanted, even for the original games (I don't know if there are any mods that do that). One thing I noticed is that you downscaled the Hutt's textures. Considering that there are now a lot of HD and upscaled mods to choose from, do you plan on ROR having a complete HD texture overhaul in the future, or will you (the team) leave that to other modders? -
I just found out about this mod, I like it and I agree it's a good alternative to the two other mods which IMO didn't blend as well with the game visually. However, I also find the transparent effect a little weird or underwhelming. I honestly didn't mind the shield effect on the original model, which was also used as a red shield for Freedon Nadd's model in The Jedi Masters mod. Have you considered or tested how he looks with the shield effect as an option? Another possibility is giving him the red "mist aura" that the PC emits when they gain dark side points (Freedon Nadd in TJM also had that, in a permanent loop). Or (I don't know if this is possible), the white bubble glows that NPCs display when they transform to rakghouls.

@Janus_Icon there is a mod from N-DReW25 which does exactly that, diversify the faces of all the human NPCs, you can check it out, I think it's called NPC diversity pack.

Very impressive work! I didn't even know there was a Korriban depot module. Would it be too difficult to port to TSL? Thinking out loud, I think these could be great for the Revenge of Revan mod or any other total conversion mod.

I really like the new reskin, specially the stone and lightning textures. I would add a little more color in the hallways, but that is just my personal opinion. I also like that you made Assasins have lightsabers, perhaps you could diversify them further if some of them had dual sabers (even one normal length and one short). And I still think some rooms could have more placeables (like the antechambers to the training room in front of the archives), or some placeables shuffled from the Dantooine enclave layout (for example, I think the dorm room with the lockboxes is the exact same one as the one in the Jedi Enclave, that could be changed to be more distinct), although I don't know if that is in the scope of the mod.

ROR Dev Diary 2 - Introduction and Jedi Temple
Spectrometer replied to N-DReW25's topic in Revenge of Revan
Thank you for the Dev Diary, very interesting as always. I have two commentaries/questions: 1. If Revan is Dark side, wouldn't it make more sense for Bastila to be either dead or with a similar fate as Dark Side Brianna? I don't remember well her dialogue at the TSL holocron, but I thought it was at least implied that she didn't survive Korriban's civil war. It also would solve the uneasiness of having a former Shadow Hand/War Criminal as a council master instead of just a low profile master. 2. Since the demo I would have really liked if Deesra Luur Jada was part of the Jedi Council. I hope he still makes an appearance as an steemed Jedi survivor. About the change for the beginning: -
Well, after watching for this mod for like 15 years, I've finally been able to play Episode One. (Very minor spoilers ahead, you can read this review even if you haven't played the mod). I'm glad I could, this mod is fantastic, it really feels like an official story from the Old EU, another story from the Old Republic era. It begins, naturally, with space politicians asking for help to a Jedi, just like with Ben Kenobi and Qui Gon Jinn, so just by that you can see that the writing team understands the style of Star Wars. It also has numerous references to obscure EU lore (just like the Jedi Masters mod) and, of course, to both KOTOR games (giving you choices, just like TSL, about the plot of the previous games), so that's what what makes it's world building so great and interconnected to the saga. It also has some elements of a crime story, which surprised me and was a nice touch. The design of the new levels is great, I feel like they did a really good job with the planets you visit. Some things could be polished a little to make the game more distinct, but overall the design is really good. Same with the skins, armors and NPCs, which all feel very polished and very diverse, but with a consistent aesthetic. Lastly, the gameplay was correct. There were no deviations in combat and leveling from TSL as far as I know, but I appreciate that they give you decent loot and gear at the first levels, so you can make various gamplay choices with your party, and you are not stuck as a kind of weakling one trick pony that spams blaster shots or flurry at the start of the game, you can use some combat strategies and buffs. There was some use of skills and classes in dialogue that was also nice from a roleplay perspective. The bad things? I think the writing at the first hour of gameplay or so was a little dense. It had a lot of exposition, which is only exasperated by the lack of audio on the main characters. I think this will be improved when audio is added in the future and the dialogue can be made to have more inflections and tones, which will make the exposition much more entertaining; but I also think that they could add a little more of comical relief at the first hour of gameplay, so that the plot feels less dense. Once you get a mcguffin for the main plot, however (at roughly half of the episode), the plot catches on and begins to be much more dynamic and similar to TSL, mantaining both an entertaining story and complex plot lines in the background. Another problem is that your party characters seem sometimes too angry, or even jerky to you. Again, this could be due to the lack of voice acting, but the dialogue can sometimes feel that way. But overall, those problems didn't take me away from what has been a great experience, a mod worthy of being a sequel or spin off from the KOTOR saga, and a worthy part of the old EU.

(Sorry for posting in Spanish for all the other users, if I continue it will be via PM).

ROR Dev Diary 1 - Main Menu & Character Creation
Spectrometer replied to N-DReW25's topic in Revenge of Revan
I'm glad this mod is close to release after following it for more than a decade. I like the idea for the Jedi robes, I always felt like the Jedi padawan robes model was more appropiate and the Master model was a little too big. I would like if you could mantain the Jal Shey models for some other armor item, though, they are nice models. I always use this mod in K2 for them: And I am also glad you are now able to use ported assets from the first game. It adds so much variety and possibilities for level design! -

Hey Kaidon, those Coruscant textures look amazing! I would just suggest adding in a colored carpet texture for some rooms (like the previous version). And I love that Trayus Academy reskin, I always wanted a decent reskin of it.

KOTOR 2 crashing after text crawl
Spectrometer replied to darthacerbus's topic in Knights of the Old Republic General
I had those exact same issue but with an old CD copy of the game I had, I also tried everything and it wasn't working, until I tried this patch: I installed it before installing any mods (as it replaces the Override) and it worked! It even seems to have a built-in widescreen patch. -
