This is rich. I was happily playing the Sith Warrior class story when I hit a game-breaking bug, which makes progressing the story impossible without sending an in-game support ticket - which is of course off-limits for free-to-play players. What happened to all players being able to play their class storyline without restrictions?

@Parametric: Nah, it's not like I couldn't afford buying a subscription (technical issues aside), I'm just irritated because a bug in software code is not a force majeure that should free the company from their promise. I screwed that character anyway, so I may just as well start over and see if I reproduce the issue or not.
@VP: will do.

Installed way too many mods with TSLRCM. If I won't get any serious compatibility issues, I'll be veeery disappointed.

I think I finally understand Kreia’s history lessons. Although I’m still having trouble with ”to believe in something is to be willing to betray it”.

Thanks SH! But I'm not going to skip ahead. Think I should finished the KotOR playthrough first and then will see what The Sith Lords put on the table. Not going to lie if I already know the twist of the KotOR's plot but not all the details; and that's what I wanted to find out. Hats off to the maker of this playthrough though, lots of effort on this one I am certain.

For the record - I’ve been pondering with and without the help of the LP, and I think I can finally say I get what Kreia is saying. The manner she delivers that line is even more confusing as usual, and the lack of difference she seems to give between what may be a feat and what is a requirement is what keeps throwing me off the track, but she tends to be extreme like that, at least from what I gather.

If my theory is correct, I'll soon be able to modify mdls in binary format.

I just learnt that I got accepted to university. Can’t decide whether I should be thrilled or scared.

As a bitter old man who has done a number of degrees, let me pass on this: the piece of paper you get at the end is essentially worthless. How worthless varies somewhat depending on the field, but ultimately all it really amounts to is a tick of one box on a long list you'll be measured against when trying to get a job. My advice would be to try and get as much real world experience as you can during your undergrad so you actually have something meaningful on your CV once you get the piece of paper. The world is awash with degree graduates. Make sure you come out of your degree with something that helps you stand out from the pack.
-
It’s a bit late for that, since I’m technically a bachelor already (trading that for a master’s degree). Technically. I mean, the degree I have is not exactly a bachelor’s (other than in English, anyway) but it equals (Finland’s schooling system may be a bit confusing). Not that it would have done me any good. One of the reasons for me to apply was to get something reasonable to do, since it seems to be impossible to get a job anyway (without having years of experience, which is impossible to get if you never get a job without experience in the first place. It’s crazy, but I probably don’t need to tell you that). Here’s hoping I’ll be able to build some connections at least.

Worldbuilding question: in your opinion, what makes villain a villain?

I don’t recall what happened in that film, but I definitely agree with you, especially as an answer to my original question. After all, I didn’t ask what makes villain an interesting character, and I seriously doubt that a character who acts solely out of malice would suddenly be not-villain due to their lack of noble goals.

Guess who just rewrote the whole history of the Sith?

I'm with Canderis. Links? I don't actively follow it.
HK-47: You're on a Star Wars site of discussion about the franchise and about the games that have now been disowned, and you expect people to not discuss and express their opinions? You just did the same by complaining about others complaining...

With all this talk about who are worthy for mods and modding and to be taken into account going over the forums, I can't help but feel I'm not wanted here.

I probably wouldn't leave even if you would insist that (I can be mean that way) but thanks for cheering me up. :|
@Dastardly, I'm sorry. Haven't really felt chatty for a while. I've burnt out, and chat room turning into a warzone when I'm in there (which happens more often than I'd like) doesn't really help in that matter.

Is there anyone playing on any RPG server of TOR that would be willing to give me a hand? I'd want to try RPing, but as one that's used to forum RPing, I don't exactly understand the concept there.

Oh, right, THAT one. Heh. It was pretty frustrating, yes. I had to set T7 as Tank to cheat him being attacked with that one-hit-kill Force push instead of me, so yes, I can see your point. (I finished Smuggler and Knight as F2P so end battles were lvl-50.) They seem to have changed something there, indeed, Sith final class battles are ridiculously easy (since they're on Korriban, so final bosses are somewhat lvl 12...) which looks pretty badass but less convincing.
-
I'd also add regarding grouping for class quests that if nothing else it helps expedite the process, especially at lower levels. TOR's design is typically just endless corridors of trash mobs with a cutscene and a boss mob at the end, so having someone else along (especially with higher level AoE abilities) can really speed things up.

Does anyone have any idea how TSF's sign looks like?

I searched for some pictures about TSF uniforms and noticed that there's some kind of round thing inside a square in the middle of their chestplate and shoulder straps (http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070224025231/starwars/images/3/3c/Tsforce.JPG). Grenn has same thing in his chest, though it's in different location. I wonder if that's supposed to be the symbol, though if so, it looks quite dumb.

So there I was, trying to beat Tavion in Jedi Outcast, dying more times than I dare to remember, when she suddenly lands a jump on Kyle's head and bounces into abyss, making him win without practically making a single hit. What are the odds?
- Show previous comments 5 more

Everything HK said is true, but the thing that confused me here is that the Tavion NPC in particular should not have been able to escape the boundary line. I've been playing this game for years and thought I memorized every minor detail of the boss fights. Maybe the collision with Tavion on the player temporarily halted the boundary? For all of the times I played that boss, even with cheated force powers, I could never push her off.
-
I didn't push her, she jumped on my head and bounced (she was jumping from the top of her ship, and I was standing on top of one of those crate-like things). It would have looked pretty weird if she would have halted mid-air by an invisible wall when she met the boundaries, I think. Nonetheless... what I am most confused about is why she decided to land on Kyle's head in the first place. I don't think I moved, instead I was trying to figure out which side of me she was going to la...

I think I’m taking a level in misanthropy here.

I was in a car accident. People are fine, car is mostly fine, deer didn’t report in for a check-up but run away. I got a good scare, that’s for sure.

Yeah, it could have turned out quite nasty. Although the realization that I could have died without even knowing is way more frightening than the actual incident. (I was napping on the back seat, so pretty much all I gathered was a ”whoa”, a sharp turn, and a ”thunk”. Luckily the deer was already mostly past the car’s nose at that point. And even more luckily, it wasn’t a moose.)

I'm starting to understand Fair Strides' signature...

Ohh crap, now I want to design signs.

I kind of found out that a great deal of those headgear clipping with head -issues in KotOR are due to wrongly placed headgear hooks in heads. I also happen to know how to fix it, but it's such a hassle I don't want to get to it if nobody is interested. Would it be worth the trouble?

I guess shots of two different heads won't do. See, I made that find when I was adding a headgear hook to a head that didn't have it originally. While positioning it correctly I notied that the Vanilla head I was comparing it to had... issues.
@VP - I'm not sure you are. It includes changing coordinates in ascii file, compiling with MDLops, bringing into game to test, and repeating the cycle until it looks good, after which I take the hex values of the coordinates and put the...

Answer: Base game is 20GB. Add the expansions and it's probably another 10GB (voice-overs, lots of voice-overs.).
Admission: Though I could be wrong about the additional 10GB. The last time I had to reinstall my game, I was too busy moaning over my stupidly slow overpriced internet to remember the size.

So if I accidentally send a bazillion of copies of the same post due to my connection dropping at a critical point, what is the best way to call Postbusters?

Does anyone know if it is possible to set an upgrade to have an armor-specific effect in TSL?
- Show previous comments 1 more
-
Certainly. I got this idea to get "additional" appearance slots by creating character-specific disguises (so they would have that character's head) so they wouldn't look like disguises. But of course certain appearances need to be restricted to certain characters, so I thought that I could make a custom upgrade for every character that would a) set the armor be useable only by that character and
set it to be that character's "additional appearance slots" disguis...
-
...disguise. Ack, half of my text got cut. I need to re-write it.
Adding these custom upgrades to wrong armors would screw up the appearances, though, so I thought that I would create generic "restrict to x" upgrades, and then set the appearance they use per armor -basis. So, installed on a regular armor it would only set it to that specific character, but installed on a additional-appearance-slot-using armor it would set it for that custom appearance. Or, another way would to so...
-
somehow override upgrade screen so it would show only those items from your inventory that belong in a pre-set custom group, but I don't know if that is possible, either.
I tried to set a feature of an armor to require a certain upgrade, but at least the way Kotor tool set it to me, the game ignores such features. Of course I don't know if that is because I was using a non-custom upgrade, but at least changes to that certain upgrade's uti file made themselves into the game.

It seems my savegame pack is ~380 MB compressed. If I split it to 50 MB pieces, will I be able to upload it, or am I going to hit some storage limit?

That's magic, I made cube maps work on a 10-year-old laptop. Just needed to scale them to be 2^n x 2^n, and abracadabra. Not all of the area models seem to show them, though, and I can't see any difference with bumpmap attached or not, but still - my game looks much better now.
