  1. Would not a txi file be all it takes to change a transparency into an envmap?
  2. I regularly use a DDS plugin when using Photoshop provided by my GPU company, if that helps. To my knowledge it has no native support. However, in my current experience, the output is surprisingly easy to run, and I've been editing DDS textures which run fine in their respective games. (My current area of ignorance is how to edit Unreal files, but that's another topic, entirely EDIT-- It looks like Unreal uses tga as well.. Interesting..)
  3. Yep, that's the one. I always thought the babies in the darker suits looked like imperials, but that could just be me. Would still be quite hilarious if they're on some random console in some forgotten corner of Anchorhead, though..
  4. In the interest of further scientific curiosity, is there a way to also alter the "mouse over" text (when it turns yellow), so that you might be able to have it dynamically change to aurabesh?
  5. Yikes, you mean an inventory limitation like encumberment? That could be quite difficult considering the hundreds of random items you end up collecting just from enemy loot.. Also, I remember seeing Fizark's pearl somewhere before.. Lastly... I have a question in return. What's up with the baby pictures in one of the Tatooine console textures, and is it ever used in the actual game?
  6. I wouldn't go so far as to assume anything, insofar as to avoid insulting anyone. Some members have strong reasons to protect their intellectual property; they put in the time, so it should be fair that they control how it is used. However, I also cannot see it fair that those who feel so slighted lash out at some who have likely never heard of some of the earlier modders, nor are (in theory) intending to infringe on that right. Our community is in general one of acceptance in regard to others voicing their opinion, and is among the most respectful of personal rights. I would hope that these actions don't jeopardize that in the minds of sites who are just now getting to know us.
  7. Congrats, FS! I know you've been working on this for a while.
  8. Hmm.. I'm starting to get the feeling I have no idea what that fine-print truly means.. At first, it sounds like the user content is explicitly multimedia and has nothing to do with game assets, but then there is talk of legally having the right to possess user content, as if it is in-fact relating to game assets and files... Well, regardless I can at least partially understand your outrage at them uploading everything carte blanche, instead of sending out a bunch of requests. Hopefully they are at least amicable for those of us who hope to retain our property. As far as "Nexus Users", I joined a while back so I could mod/play things like Fallout. It seems to be a reasonable enough community, and the current moderators seem at least on the surface to value transparency and fairness. Bear in mind, my communications have been limited with them until recently, but from the offset, the users are far more knowledgeable than other sites, and in general are less whiny and demanding than on *other sites.
  9. These would fit right in during the Krath Conflict. I am personally enthusiastic about any clothing to connects the Kotor games to the Tales of The Jedi comics they were based off of.
  10. Wow. That paints a surprisingly vivid picture that they knew full well how this was going to go down. Well, I really appreciate you digging that documentation up as well as translating the fine print for those like myself who don't understand the exact meaning of the legal documentation, Xander2077. It also goes to show that you really should read as much as you can of the "revised codes of conduct" companies will send from time to time.
  11. I believe according to the language in the official post that this is specifically a method to create an easier way for people to have access to the files as mods. While I can't vouch for it not carrying an ulterior motive, it was the planned to be a way to expose the truly obscure mods to users who have likely never heard of them. As far as I can see, it's a far-cry from the outright arrogance we saw on the Steam Workshop, where only the most popular mods were being uploaded by one user who after repeated attempts to make them stop rudely refused to do so. If they get hostile about removing them, well, that could be a problem...
  12. That looks fantastic, Xander2077! I especially like how you handled the nose, where it's not strictly catlike yet retains the very nonhuman look you see in the Cathar of the comics.
  13. You guys have got to stop giving me ideas. I was just thinking, what if you fashioned the Krayt Dragon skull into an "upgrade" for your swoop bike. Like, the skull on the front and claws on the sides, or something along those lines?...
  14. @Xander2077 Well put. I was skeptical when people told me that Filefront was shutting down, but a second site that was effectively a redirect from the original site holder (Not Filefront, but their at the time new owner Break Media) had instead held its files. Break had also fallen into severe neglect and overall lack in popularity as the internet changed, so it made sense that the arrangement wouldn't last forever. Once reports came in that Filefront was also closing their backup site, it was pretty clear that this was a very serious total data wipe. I mean, it sucks, but the internet has changed, and things we thought were solid and permanent require constant traffic to stay alive.
  15. Wouldn't it also be more grammatically accurate to say "tectonically generated"? (With the 'ally' ) I might be wrong, though, since " tectonic" is a noun..
  16. @Xander I have read an article on Nexus that they are busily changing ad providers for their site, and that could account for the understaffing. Also, a minor correction, but Escapist Magazine is incredibly old and frankly has all but dissolved, itself. They're probably creating some desperate project, which could account for the rush on their side. (Sigh.. So much corporate intrigue...)
  17. What about a tooth that you can have one of the hunters fashion into a blade?
  18. I like how clean you got the screen and how seamless the overall texture looks. As far as "aging/dirtying up the texture a bit, perhaps you could add some gradual colors to the edges to either hint at the metal being worn, or just to add some variety to the color scheme. Adding some speckling of darker greys or a soft transition into another lighter color could also give more depth to it as well (Image added to hopefully show what I mean as far as realistically distressing the metal; the bright scratches on the surface are optional ) EDIT Going to add another thing really quick: If you're using Photoshop, there is a great plugin for textures in the filters menu called " texturizer". If you use, say, the sandstone texture in it, and then run filter-distort-glass, you can get a very nice metallic grain.
  19. My comment was also rather tongue-in-cheek.. The reason many people feel your comment went too far (at least I assume this to be the case) is because you stated that "Coming Soon" had to mean that it would be released as soon as this year. Now, I at least somewhat understand your concern about dead mod projects (Hey, I followed Team Gizka and The Dark Forces project), but in this community, if you see a post from anything near three months per update, it's a sign of a healthy project due for another update. I imagine based on what SS has explicitly said that Sleheyron is very close to complete, but a bunch of difficulties have recently slowed the overall progress. I personally am holding out for when he's happy with the overall completion to be able to show off more screenshots.
  20. What I want to know is when the Sleheyron HD Re-Release will be.
  21. If you can isolate the name of the placeable model, maybe you could find it in Kotor. I looked through all of the K1 texture files, but there was nothing that even looked like it. The odd thing is texture looks ported; maybe it's from a different game....
  22. I am glad you are among those that noticed this. Kotor also has textures and models for the computer spike, gloves, and even credits. I like to imagine that Bioware had far more immersive plans for the character equipment models, but it either looked tacky, (I mean, the belts are bright magenta and armor is neon yellow in some cases...) or they just ran out of time and had to cut it. It would be worth it to me if someone went crazy and added a bunch of hooks for gloves, belts, and items, but it would be quite the undertaking. [Edit: I considered it, and they could have used the various models as placeable items in equipment shops, but I like to think of what could have been..=P ]
  23. I know Jorak has lately been taking charge on all computer console textures. @Xander You have just seen the tip of the iceberg in terms of bad textures in TSL. For example, Vogga's texturing...
  24. For me, at least, the new version looks like it has more definition, and is overall less flat and/or fake looking. This is especially noticeable on the animating squares in the lower portion. Personally, I can't wait to see what your ideas are for a smog-ridden and garish spectacle like Nar Shadaa.
  25. Oh... : ° I have learned something this day.. Yeah, I am definitely interested in how you got such crisp detail on the Disruptor Rifle, especially. I am all about using the emboss tool in Photoshop, but metal still takes me a bit of work to look right with it. I also have a weapon UTI mod in the works; so I was wondering, did either this mod or FG's change the UTI files? Until now, I've been using the Vanilla assets.
