I think there's a little more to it than a simple script tweak. I would guess it's more of a hard-coded thing.

Yeah, I'm really quite surprised that Apeiron hasn't gotten the C&D yet, considering the amount of publicity they have received, especially at the beginning. I'm guessing that the potential Steam partnership had more to do with the C&D than anything else. It's honestly a shame what EA did to Battlefront. It's the only EA title I've acquired in probably a decade, and it's a waste of potential. The only thing it has going for it is graphics. I was eagerly awaiting the progress of Galaxy in Turmoil, albeit skeptically as I (rightly) feared the C&D. -

I don't know how adding toilets is an advantage of KotOR Apeiron. Is there something so great about toilets that there was just a huge void in the game because of their absence? Have you watched any of the live streams? I don't knock Apeiron simply because of the toilets. It frankly doesn't look like Star Wars. I've watched maybe a dozen of the live streams, with areas ranging from Taris to Dantooine and Tatooine. None of them bears the same feel as anything Star Wars. They've just really missed the mark. -

Hehe, I just checked and the Bastila mod has 1024 by 1024 textures and look how great they look! I'm not saying it would be bad to have many textures overhauled, just a "4K" size is complete overkill for the game.

There's really no need for that. "4K" as you refer to it, I'm assuming is a 4096 by 4096 texture. Default is 512 by 512. A 4096 by 4096 texture is a whopping 64 times larger than the original. 2048 by 2048, or even 1024 by 1024 would be fine.

Nobody has done that because of the difficulty and immense time associated with re-creating thousands and thousands of textures from scratch to a "4K" size, which would be completely unnecessary. Even a 1024 by 1024 would be four times better than typical game textures.

No doubt an engine overhaul would give better graphics, but then the challenge there is implementing the content in the new engine... (something we've yet to see from Apeiron). On a personal level, I rather like KotOR's art style. I don't think it needs too much improvement, though certain things are glaringly bad. The characters are definitely difficult to remaster. A nice step would be to re-map the female models to use the male textures, which can be done now that MDLOps 0.7 is released. If that was done, it would essentially cut in half the amount of work required to remaster the armors/clothing. Of course, there are other character models/textures but they don't get as much screen time. I don't think we're ever going to see many of the character models get replaced due to the difficulty of weighing the skin with the bones and whatnot. In any case, I can understand the desire to have high quality textures and models that are all on the same level. I hope somebody achieves this one day, but it's unlikely.

It's my opinion that good textures save mediocre models better than good models can save mediocre textures. I still think some different texture packs could be produced that could update KotOR. If you're all for going the new models route, just take a look at Apeiron...

Mostly because nobody has done a characters, etc. HD package. Several people have done HD area textures, but people have different opinions on different ones, so there isn't a single, definitive texture pack even for most planets. I've done high quality (textures technically aren't HD) blasters, and Kexikus has done skyboxes, but that's about it.

Introducing the Talon Raider! It's no "fastest ship in the galaxy," because it's not about how fast you get to your destination, but it's about the journey to get there. The Talon Raider doesn't have two measly engines, but has four like a real ship. That thick hull? It's not just decorative, it can repel even the heaviest blaster fire. But that would be assuming the blaster bolts make it to the hull, which they don't. Its quad shield generators are top of the line, and can form almost any aerodynamic shape for atmospheric flight. And just like a cowboy, it packs a six gun. Well, six of the heaviest laser cannons that Czerka produces. You might think that's all well and good, but does it have it where it counts? Can I load up all my contraband and make an escape in quick fashion? I'm here to tell you that you most certainly can! A spacious hydraulic lift under the cargo hold will have you in business. No more cramming a swoop bike through a tiny corridor and down a teeny ramp, just ride right up onto the lift. The cargo hold and cargo pod provide ample space for all your smuggling needs! Anything from spice to livestock and more sentient cargo if your conscience (or lack thereof) allows.
