  1. As far as I know, yes, it's only that specific module. I never found out why, but if anyone knows or has any ideas, I'd love to hear it.
  2. Yes. Though I haven't worked on it in probably over a month, I don't have the time. Maybe I'll be able to get back to it next month?
  3. This is the reason. I don't believe anyone ever figured out a reason why they're broken in a MOD.
  4. You just compared the best part of of R1 to the one of the worst parts of TLJ. Might as well say prequels were better because that opening battle was awesome and Ewoks were dumb. Chase must have been longer. Rey was training for at least days. 18 hours was given after a while, who knows how much time they spent in hyperspace and how much time Rey spent with Luke before the evacuation. Stormtroopers beaten by a girl with a stick is worse than two Force user taking on imperial guards after shockingly killing what we assumed was the main bad guy? What. Literally every one in Rogue One was a throw away. And before you say "that's the point of their suicide mission" - it doesn't matter. At least I remember anything about characters you mentioned. That alone makes for a better experience. I already complained about all that with TFA which was supposed to set it up. Don't care any more. Literally nobody dying in R1 made any impact since all of them were throwaways. She got her ass kicked for half the movie. Or compare it to TLJ's fan service which was also terrible and I also criticized. Oh right R1 didn't have dumb humor. If you ignore half the robot's lines. Literally no. Revan is interesting because of KOTOR 2, so yeah, probably. Well, not with this terrible backstory, but with focusing on other stuff. It would be worse than TSL but we wouldn't know that because our TSL would never exist. I want Rey to do something nearly as badass as Luke did in the end. Or Leia. Rey did NOTHING that was even close to their power level. And I really don't want to talk about the prophecy, or the prequels in general, but "we may have misunderstood it" or whatever it was Yoda said in ROTS, if you want an in-universe explanation.
  5. That is correct (edit some more lines so spoiler won't show up on front page) I didn't even think about who she is after TFA, then when Kylo revealed them to be "nobodies" I figured he's lying and it's a set up for a different answer in the sequel. Apparently, Johnson confirmed that it was honest so that kinda sucks.
  6. I liked the duality of the rebellion but that never went everywhere, then you list a lot of fluff that sometimes was cool, but did nothing for the movie as a whole (Vader's scene is a perfect example of that), but you skipped unlikable characters with no personality, stormtroopers more incompetent than ever, lack of any kind of meaningful or interesting story, lack of any kind of stakes or suspense because we know they're gonna get a thing before they even know what that thing is and a terrible, uncharismatic lead actress, surrounded by useless fan service (Vader being the prime example, though things like a mention of Kenobi and random 3PO cameo were much worse), all to fill in an imaginary plot hole that ANH already covered ("its defenses are designed around a large scale assault, a small one man fighter should be able to penetrate it" was enough, and really didn't have to be explained). Whole movie was a perfect example of fan service and telling stories of things we know, which was indeed the opposite of how The Last Jedi played with everyone's expectations and tried to do something new.
  7. I heard this really cool quote in one of (very positive) TLJ's reviews: "And I bet a lot of your Star Wars loving friends will be like "hmmm I didn't like it", and if they say that, I will appreciate that if you could ask them if they liked Rogue One. And I promise you that 80% of the time they will say they loved it, and they liked that it was edgy and fights were cool and the walkers on the beach were so awesome."
  8. Yeah pretty much this. I'm fine with people releasing modified TSLRCM files to ensure compatibility, so do whatever you want with them.
  9. A lot of those are pretty dumb and TLJ at least did something new and unexpected instead of rehashing TESB like I expected it to. (is that sentence long enough not to show spoilers on the front page?)
  10. No-spoiler version: it was GREAT, I'm seriously impressed how good it was, I can't even be snarky about the movie any more, at some point it just blew me away but all the plot twists, the way it handled the Force and the Jedi, all that. I wasn't excited about the movie at all but I ended up loving it. Anyway I started this thread so we can have spoiler discussions without cluttering the pre-release one. Longer version of my thoughts as the movie progressed: Kylo needs his own badass music theme, like the Imperial March for Vader.
  11. This looks better than Rogue One. I thought he said "Bastila's war droids." LOL.
  12. Not a clue. I looked it up and apparently ERF stands for "encapsulated resource file", only thing I could find for RIM is "Resource Image", I don't know how accurate that is though. It might not mean anything - but most KOTOR file format names do, so who knows.
  13. We didn't use MOD file for 702 in TSLRCM, all changes are still in RIMs. Vanilla RIM is moved to "backup" folder. It's short for module, which is KOTOR's name for areas. Also a left over from NWN, a game which was designed to be modded.
  14. Hopefully it's got nothing to do with the Old Republic because I'm too lazy to participate in a heated "this movie was great" vs "it contradicted KOTOR so much" vs "just be glad you got something set in that era" discussion that would inevitably follow.
  15. Cool. It still seemed bit long and out of place, especially the "leave the comment" part. Looking forward to the next one.
  16. I love the way computer generated voice says Korriban. It really doesn't matter how long videos are, but making them longer just for the sake of it isn't a way to go. I'm fine with them being longer if you can still keep them entertaining. I honestly feel like the last one would be better if it was slightly shorter; for example, you could easily cut out most of Shem's review, or maybe just summarized it in one-two sentence, as it didn't add much to the video - first part basically repeated what we already know from previous episodes, and reading the "don't forget to let author know what you think!" comment at the end is really out of place in a video.
  17. I've been modding recently and though I could maybe update this thread again. I think I promised to talk about the cut "Sith Survivor" plot at some point. You know That Door in the Industrial Zone? Sealed one, half way through the Zone, with a whole complicated and confusing quest to open it? Well, that quest was always part of the planet. However, what happens on the other side of the Zone has been rewritten on at least three separate occasions. Way back when I joined, you were supposed to be attacked on sight by droids on the other side of that door. You would fight your way to those ziggy-zaggy rooms at the bottom of the map, which currently serve as Design/Testing departments. IS-24 had some voiced lines left over in game files, one of them being an apology for attacking the player. Ultimately, I made a decision to cut all that and make the whole Industrial Zone kind of actionless. Anyway, once you reached current Design/Testing rooms, you would be approached by one of the droids who would explain the situation. The reason they attacked was to protect a sole Sith Survivor, the only Colonist to survive the radiation leak. There was a whole deal with getting Kolto to cure him after that - I think I explained most of it in my previous posts. You needed to cure the Survivor, otherwise the droids wouldn't let you through. We wanted to have LS/DS choice where you'd select a different treatment for him, and I liked the idea of a moral dilemma behind it - would a good Jedi let him recover, or should he get lower quality Kolto and barely survive, because the Sith doesn't deserve any better? This decision would probably impact his skill in a boss fight later on. Of course, none of that ever made it into the game. Old design document - and UTC file left over in the released version of a mod - is all that's left of the idea. Whole meeting with him was fairly well described, though, so I'll copy and paste it under a spoiler - it's long. (probably written by Sharen Thrawn, but it's been 8 years so you can't blame me if I'm wrong) There was an idea thrown around, which I liked, that the Sith Survivor should have been "just a guy with a big gun", rather than a lightsaber wielding force user. He would return for the finale at the very end of the planet - after M4-78 killed Vash. It's kind of funny to read it now, and I'd kind of want to go trough it point-by-point and point out all the problems I have with that doc... but I won't do it now. So that's what the finale was supposed to be, at one point. I don't like the idea of forcing player to stay on the planet after finding a Jedi Master - I remember than in each next iteration of the script, I was always against forcing player to stay so long. I wanted players to talk to Vash, then M4-78 and be on their way. There you have it. The Sith Survivor plot. I may come back next year with more old stories ideas
  18. That's the first I hear about this. I tested it on my computer and I think you may have a left over TSLRCM's installation in the default folder. I ran the installer twice, and it wouldn't let me change the directory the first time. Then I uninstalled TSLRCM via the uninstaller exe (it's in KOTOR2 folder, called unins000 or so - but uninstalling TSLRCM from the control panel will work, too). Then I ran the installer again and it let me select a folder properly.
  19. TLDR there's a new awesome version coming some time There are few things I'll talk about today: 1. Why hasn't M4-78 been re-uploaded yet 2. What's taking so long to release an update when there's already one on Steam and 3. What sort of changes are we going to see in the next update 1. Why hasn't M4-78 been re-uploaded yet? There was this whole issue with the credits music, we posted about it a while ago. I re-compiled TSLRCM's installer without the credits, but couldn't do the same for M4-78 because M4 files were on a different hard drive, which I didn't have access to at a time. When I eventually got it back, I was going to make some last-minute changes to the mod and upload it, but I ended up doing a lot of other things instead and never got around to it. 2. What's taking so long to release an update when there's already been an update on Steam? I didn't really have all that much to do with the 1.3 version TBH, maybe except for re-doing a lot of VO filters (more on that later). I wanted to release a big, cool update which would be basically an ultimate version of the mod. I even had a date in mind for when I would release it - it was some Wednesday back in September - but as mentioned, I ended up doing a lot of other stuff instead. I'm pretty much done with it now, though. I need to go trough the planet and see if everything still works properly, but other than that, it's good to go. I even thought of releasing a public beta with a disclaimer that it may or may not break half way through, in order not to delay it too much, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea. It's been down for so long, a while longer won't hurt. It'll be released soon. I just need to test it. And I have another person beta-testing it, too. There's a lot of new stuff in the next version that I think will make experience a lot better. 3. What sort of changes are we going to see in the next update? I'm only going to list the major ones I did myself. Note that no one else has seen most of those changes yet, and I'm not sure I even mentioned most of them to anyone else. * New intro cut-scene: without so many re-used companion lines; expanded Atton's role with a lot of unused lines of his, though. * Reduced amount of walking: included auto-teleportation for some quests to make it go faster (in the droid quest, you only have to go trough areas one time instead of three; auto-teleportation to I1-02 after re-building him and few others); added option to destroy cleaning units from the Industrial Zone (it really made no sense to go all way back to Central!) * Added text description of what's happening in the holo-recordings next to That Door in the Industrial Zone to make whole quest less confusing. * Alternate way to open THAT DOOR which doesn't require you running around the area multiple times. * Alternate way to enter the Environmental Zone without ever talking to IS-24. Yes, that means you can do the Environmental Zone first, and meet Kaah before ever heading to the Industrial Zone. I won't spoil how. * Related to the above: expanded Kaah's role. You can interact with him after first meeting him, but before finding Vash. Thank Zhaboka for recording multiple additional lines for the patch. * Rewritten ending: Which might get patched out if people like that one even less * Significantly reduced the lag in the Industrial Zone by splitting the module into a few, smaller ones and reducing number of droids in some areas. * Re-applied droid filters where possible: used something more HK-like instead of slapping "mechanized" filter on them, which makes the VOs much easier to listen to. Unfortunately, there were few characters that I couldn't re-do that way due to losing source files (greeter droid and CS-45, most notably). I feel like those changes, especially the reduced amount of walking part and VOs, are going to make the planet feel better and less annoying to play trough. Improved non-linearity is also a plus. That's it for now. I'll release it some day!
  20. I pretty much fixed the lag issue in the Industrial Zone

Hopefully someone will make one since I can't get 60FPS even in an empty area hahaha.

I mean it still drops in the R&D, but it drops by 5ish FPS instead of 20.

I split the module in two, so it doesn't exactly work yet so I won't release it until I fix some other stuff. So just let me disappear again and I'll come back with an update eventually ;)

Will this be a 1.3 or 1.4 feature?

  21. Basically some gender-specific content won't trigger. Usually, in case of he/she lines, the game will proceed to the one with lower priority, which usually doesn't have a gender check. If both options have a gender check, neither will trigger and the convo would break. Not sure about K1, but TSL doesn't always check the "gender" field; it has another boolean variable which is often used for gender check, and setting your gender to BOTH wouldn't do anything in those cases; and since booleans can only be 0 or 1s, you're always one of the genders. So setting it to both is likely to at least break some quests at some point.
  22. Dark Side players always get the "malachor stay" ending (though they don't necessarily leave it, which is required for the Visas/handmaiden scene), and for light side players it depends on what you do in the HK Factory. IIRC anyway, it's been forever since I've seen any of this
  23. TSLRCM credits could come as soon as Sept 5th (unless, for whatever reason, they're still not ready before them). That's the earliest, as that's when I'm coming back from holidays. Note that it'll probably still be the same version of the mod as the one currently uploaded here, just with the credits (that you're going to skip anyway ), so if you were thinking of holding out until we upload it - don't. I don't know about M4-78EP, depends on when I get my 2nd hard drive back - a friend of mine borrowed it recently, and it had all M4-78 related files on it, including the installer, so I can't do anything without it.
