    Sorry to necro, but this is not true: prior to the Steam update, there was no option. For example, the version of the game on gog.com does not have an option to disable speed blur, so this mod is definitely useful. Thanks!

    I also experienced a very similar issue to these - after beating CS-32, the journal did not automatically update. Upon talking to the Organizer, it looks like it transitions to the tournament ending (all of the players surrounding the Organizer), and talking to the Organizer doesn't do anything. Using the files posted by Fair Strides did not fix the issue. edit: If I choose to investigate CS-32 instead, the journal is correctly updated and I am able to play the Champ.
