TSLRCM 1.8.6 - A "what if" thread

NOTHING IN THIS INITIAL POST IS FROM THE MODDING TEAM FOR TSLRCM. THESE ARE MY MUSINGS AND MINE ALONE.
 
It's my guess that we might see one more update out of the official modding team for TSLRCM before they stop coming to the site and eventually ghost us.  As Zbyl2 is making one last update to the M4-78 EP, it just seems likely he'd give the main mod a once over as well.
 
With that in mind, I was wondering the following:

  • Of all of the separate fixes to TSL that were released separately from the TSLRCM, which should be merged with the TSLRCM?  
  • Of those fixes, which shouldn't be included.

Of course, the modders would have to be able to give their permission to include these fixes for this theoretical thing to happen.  Those modders would also have to point out on their download pages and release threads that said fixes would be included in the TSLRCM and so they shouldn't be used with the TSLRCM (as that would likely undo the fixes). 
 
Basically: if you mention a fix in this thread, explain your reasoning why a fix should or should not be included.    Of course, you should hyperlink to the mod itself as well but that's just common courtesy.

EXCEPTION TO THE ABOVE: I don't want to hear any references to MixSav's "Kotor 2 unofficial patch v1.1" mod.  If he can't be bothered to explain everything his mod does on the download page or the release thread, I don't care to advertise it.  (Accordingly, references to that mod will be purged from this thread.)

Jcarters minor fixes deserve to be included tbh (I'm pretty sure some of them are already included in it). Most of these 'small' fixes really do add to the overall quality of the game. I know this mod is normally the second mod I install after TSLRCM due to the fixes included.

Sith Assassin's where trained in Stealth and infiltrated the Harbinger using stealth. I don't see how Sith Troopers could of infiltrated the Harbinger and then not attack the Exile until just when he/she tries to leave

Was the original influence system and was to be used in TSLRP. Reason to not include it is that many people found it made TSLRP worse than what it already was.

It appears that Obsidian intended to reskin certain K1 armours to their own likings. Only a very small number of reskins where finished such as green Light Battle Armor and Black Reinforced Fiber Mesh and the rest were sent into the game with the wrong texture like Heavy Battle Battle with Mandalorian Battle Armor texture for example. This mod converts all the mistextured armours and the finished armours with their K1 textures. If this does go into TSLRCM the finished armour textures would obviously have to remain.

I can agree with these for the most part. Some of the other ones like the influence mod and the visa change do seem to be beyond the scope of TSLRCM

N-DReW got pretty much everything I can think of, but personally, I'm a huge fan or the Unofficial TSLRCM Tweak Pack by Pavijan357, or at least a few components of it: http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/296-unofficial-tslrcm-tweak-pack/

 

While the Kaevee side quest is interesting, I think it screws with the lore, and it seems rather obvious to me that Jorran being the thief was intentionally written to replace that content. So without this, RCM is pretty much removing completed content and replacing it with incomplete content that was deliberately removed in favour of the vanilla quest

 

The Atris dialogue that was restored is, again, interesting, but it seems to me to be a remnant from an earlier story idea that was deliberately cut out. It really just doesn't belong

 

As for Saedhe's head - I do think the old black man head fits his voice more, but it'd be a shame to lose the unique head. Perhaps that unique head could be placed elsewhere since there are still a good amount of clones in the game?

 

And needing 15 awareness for the Gand quest really is absurd. Maybe 4 is a little low, but still

 

The rest of the things this modifies I think are fine in RCM as they are

I'm probably one who felt that way. Still do. I don't want to re-balance the game. I would be down for rebalancing the HK Factory if it's still so damn difficult (there were some arguments in the team about that over the years :P ) but that's it.

I always felt we should leave graphical changes up for others, because there'd be too much to fix. If we fix one weird graphic glitch, people are going to start asking why we didn't fix others. If we only fix gameplay issues, nobody is going to wonder that.

I have been outvoted on the matter once when we fixed the Jedi robes IIRC, though.

That kinda proves the point I made about the other head fixes pack. If we included the other one, but not this one, then people would ask why we didn't fix this head.

I didn't even know any of them were broken!

 

Yeah it doesn't look like something TSLRCM does.

 

Makes sense but is kinda pointless. The only reason I removed other dead members from party after Malachor cut-scenes was to make checking for them easier later on. Goto wouldn't ever appear anyway so no one ever thought about removing him.

Plus Goto vs HK is one scene I didn't initially set up for Mal.

 

I like that.

That doesn't even make sense, it just removes a difference from LS vs DS choices. You avoid a fight, you lose a visa, that's a good thing, live with those consequences.

This is a pretty cool mod, that one I'd consider despite being a model fix.

Understandable, though I find it weird when my character is in a combat stance and his tongue is protruding from his cheek. Really gives me that "unfinished" feeling even with TSLRCM.

True, that mod probably isn't for TSLRCM I feel like the consequences of that is just annoying. Siding with Czerka or Ithorians is a very good LS vs DS thing where both sides offer new quests and conversations later down the line like Channo and B4-D4. Choices like that will encourage me to play the game again to explore these rewards and consequences, the no fight, no visa will only just make me fight no matter what. With this mod installed you still have to choose between no fight, no item drops which could benefit your Exile and Party (The Verpine Fibre Mesh armour he wears is a 100%guaranteed drop btw)

 

Feel free to keep the suggestions coming, it's pretty interesting. I kinda doubt there will be an update though (HH feel free to correct me on that one)

I have some more suggestions. On Nar Shaddaa there are alien VO problems where alien's on Nar Shaddaa have the wrong VO assigned to them which I plan to fix and add to my GenoHaradan Legacy mod but Hassat Hunter did fix one and said he'd put it in TSLRCM if there was a new patch. The VO problems I am referring to is the Gran and Aqualish in the Nar Shaddaa apartments (the ones who plan to break into Vogga's vault), the thugs who attack Oppo Channo on Nar Shaddaa are Trandoshan's but there VO aren't Trandoshan and the Red Eclipse slavers have the wrong VO assigned to them.

 

Additionally according to developer notes the Red Eclipse Slavers where supposed to be all Nikto so that will be put into GenoHaradan Legacy (Maybe I'll add this as an optional install where user's decide whether they want all Nikto or vanilla multiracial and corrected VO).

 

Also, already apart of GenoHaradan Legacy, is various fixes to the Jekk Jekk Tarr NPC's and dialogue. The bartender dialogue says that each room's gas is supposed to resemble a species native planet atmosphere and says that the room the bartender is in is for Trandoshan's and Deveronian's, the room with the Twi'lek Major Domo is for Twi'leks, Weeqays and Nikto and the other two rooms are for the Gand. The problem is that the room with the Bartender features Deveronians, Trandoshan's, Twi'leks and Rodians. The Major Domo room features Rodians, Weeqays, Trandoshans and Twi'leks. These are all wrong according to the description the Bartender gives, not to mention Nikto can't survive in the Jekk Jekk Tarr. In Legacy, I changed Nikto to Rodians and restricted the species of NPC's to their specific rooms so Twi'leks, Rodians and Weeqays in one room, Trandoshans and Deveronian in the other. I also restored some Trandoshan dialogue and some Visquis lines. 

 

Lastly, TSLRCM restored a Major Domo line that indicates drinks are served at the Jekk Jekk Tarr yet the Bartender specifically says there are no drinks served, only fumes.

This one could be put in TSL, mainly bacause it gives some difference between the classes. IT bugs me having the same type of clothes for all three types of characters.

 

If it's not possible put it in TSLRCM 1.8.6, at least make another with the same changes.

Speaking only for myself and my mods, I don't think I'd want that.  I will explain why.

 

1) My mods are purely cosmetic.  What I've added wasn't due to something not added due to lack of time, or an error in the game's code.  As such, folks should be able to pick whether or not to use my mods.  I don't like the idea my mods being rammed down your throat!

 

2) I kind of like being able to see how many folks have downloaded my mods by checking the mod's pages.  It's a small thing but it's a thing I like to check every year or so - when I get curious.  If my mods were included in TSLRCM, that goes out the window.

 

But thanks for enjoying my mods!  (Have you left a comment on my mod's download pages yet?  LOL)

TSLRCM stands for The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod. The goal of this mod is to make TSL as close as to what Obsidian Entertainment intended for the game (HK Factory, Khoonda Battle etc), Of course, if there isn't enough content to restore something then the missing content needs to be fan made which isn't the goal of TSLRCM (M4-78, GenoHaradan Legacy etc). 

 

Your suggestions are texture mods, never intended by Obsidian. While these textures are amazing they are not for TSLRCM.

To be fair, RCM itself did stretch that rule once for the skybox showing the Hawk from G0-T0's yacht. But I don't think anyone is going to complain about it. That skybox truly was horrendous before

Using that logic I guess Realistic Nar Shaddaa Skybox and the loading screens could be added to make the Skybox match the bik but I heavily doubt that.

PMHA03 Restoration is already in TSLRCM.

 

While the matching bodies and the miner in the med lab is a good addition I doubt that mod will be added in.

 

Another thing for consideration: Last year Sith Holocron and I made a fix that was never released due to Sith Holocron feeling it was too small of a fix to upload. Essentially, Goto can chime into Saedhe's conversation but Goto refers to Saedhe as "she". This fix splices the audio to refer to Saedhe as "he".

This is a bit off topic, but a lot of the recommendation are small bug/model fixes. It's great that each of these fixes have been made but it is a pain to have to install each mod separately (take a look at the reddit mod builds to see just how many minor tweaks exist).

 

If TSLRCM is not the best venue for these then it would be cool if the fixes could get bundled into some sort of TSL unoffical patch or something like that.

Imo,Train the Handmaiden deserves to be added to TSLRCM because it doesn't really feel right that Exile can't teach her any lightsaber forms unlike other party members.

Being able to teach her the lightsaber forms helps her to have an easier time against other handmaidens at least.(Even if teaching forms to others isn't that useful)

Seeing as HH already asked JCarter426 do a cut-scene for him, I'd love to see JCarter restore the Train the Handmaiden cut-scene using the methods discussed in this thread

Wait really?

I'm gonna have to check those out, what's the full file name for those VOs? 

 

Do you know if Disciple has any lines in regards to training? 

 

Additionally, if someone wants to remake/restore this in a potential TSLRCM update, then I'm all for that. 

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to update it to fit a potential TSLRCM update, but I'd understand if it wasn't done quite like TSLRCM crew would want it done.
