  1. A long night of recording and editing audio for a huge mod is finally finished. Phew. Very excited to see the end product!

So, cat's out of the bag. This status relates to Newbiemodder's upcoming Korriban expansion update. The performance in the video SH posted above is not me, but this one is, in case you were curious of what ol' Jolee will be sounding like - a small taste.

  2. ^ Sorry for this, I am now a meme lord.

Edit: Added subs. It's based on one of those hip new me-mes the kids are talking about these days.

Damn. I guess to me it was so obvious because of the meme. I'll probably take it down and add subs. 🤐 Thanks for the feedback guys.

  3. One thing I dislike about the new EU is that it's all "canon" except when it's not. "Poe met Rey already in some frakkin' book? Nah, we need that in the movie!" So, it's literally the exact same as it was before, just Disney's version of it with added lip service to get you to buy more books.
  4. Hi DarthParametic, excuse my noobiness, but beyond this and TSLRCM, I'm not really into modding my game. Could you give me a bit more specifics of how I get this to interact with the Steam version? You said to install it in the Workshop folder. Steam>Steamapps>workshop, right? And from there, what files exactly am I extracting to that location? Again, sorry for the nooby question and I appreciate your help. Been waiting for a mod like this for a long time.
  5. Right, though while it might not be unique in TOR, it's still her given head in terms of what was present in the game. That generic head would be more accurate to Legends canon then current "canon" mods, and it would be unique in TSL at least. The grey hair is a big head-scratcher though, given her brown hair in the Revan novel. Guessing they only did that so that the ghostly effect is more prominent. Yeah, that's what I figured. Having to compile specific combinations would become a tall order - like "I want this face, with this hair, with this beard, with this skin/eye color" etc. Much easier to stick with existing models.
  6. Looks great! Excited to see how people bring other TOR heads into KotOR. A Canon Exile head is the most obvious one to me, but I know that I'd like to see my Sith Warrior's head ported in. I wonder how that would work for modding custom character creation heads in? I imagine it would be much trickier/impossible.
  7. Created an audiobook version of the KOTOR comic issue where Revan finds his mask, in case you were curious about how that went down. Very special thanks to @ebmarfor his Revan vocal filter!

Great work, although the cheering after Revan put on the mask sounded like frat boys. No offense.

Thanks! Yeah, the cheering was a last minute addition to clear up some awkward empty space in the dialogue. I wanted it to kind of invoke the feeling that a cult of personality was forming, which would later bite everyone in the ass. "Frat boys" ha, well all these guys were mainly too cool for school Jedi Knights rebelling against the crotchety Council, so that fits!

Well, that makes sense, and it's not like Star Wars doesn't have those silly moments.

  8. I think that this is really cool! Would be fun to visit old planets as the Exile to see how they changed since Revan's departure. Looking forward to seeing what you guys do with the freedom.
  9. Yeah, that was my takeaway at the time as well. I was so emotional after I read it. "Damn, Bane won after all!" And then, nope. Several of my friends and I all came to the same (apparently incorrect) conclusion - it tells me that it was not as clear as it could have been. Why include all those mentions of Bane's hand clenching if when "Zannah" does it we aren't meant to read too much into it? Oh well.
  10. Twelve years ago in Boston, I went to a release event for Drew Karpyshyn's first Darth Bane novel, Path of Destruction. I was so excited to meet the man who wrote my favorite video game of all time. When I got there, I was one of about 6 people there, two of which were my parents who graciously drove me, and it felt a little awkward to be honest. Drew read a passage from his book and opened it up to a Q&A afterwards. I asked him about the possible KOTOR connections that might be in his book (the passage he read has included the mention of Selkath), my Mom politely asked him about his other works in fiction, and then it was done. The 501st showed up in some Stormtrooper armor, which was cool, I got my book signed and off we went. It was a nice little event. Over the years as each book came out and then the Revan novel, and then TOR, I would email DrewK who would actually engage in back and forths with me about characterizations of Revan, the Exile, and lastly the apparent non-twist ending of Dynasty of Evil (I still don't understand this one). Overall, don't really know where I'm going with this other than to say that Drew was a nice fella, and I'm appreciative for the experience and whatever slight connection I made with him. So, that's that. Also, if I said that I was working on voice lines for you, I still am. Trying to get paid work now that I'm in the proper state, so that's been my absolute focus - but I will get back to the fan stuff soon. Best, UC
  11. It's *fanatical* to NOT like a movie. This is where we're at as a society. What a joke.
  12. Greetings, meatbags. Last time I posted in this blog was quite a while ago, so I thought I'd share what my recording space currently looks like in Texas. The rundown: It's a big ol' closet with moving blankets strung up on the walls and draped above me like a circus tent. The equipment: I've been slowly adding more and more to my space throughout my various moves. First off, the second most important instrument you have (after your voice). I've had three mics throughout my 6 or so years recording VO. I started off with the respectable Blue Yeti USB mic, moved on to the AT2020 and now have landed at the E-100S Condenser Microphone. This thing is good for me to help bring out the natural bass in my voice, but is not markedly better than the AT imo. If you're looking for a good starter mic of your own, I'd recommend the far more affordable AT. Next is the Audio Interface, which is necessary if you're using a non-USB microphone like I am. I use the Focusrite Scarlett Solo, which is a plug and play type setup and has never steered me wrong. The next most important part, is your recording software. Audacity is free and it's what I've always used. Extras: Music Stand to hold your copy (or script), mic stand, stool to place laptop on, LED clamp light to see copy, dog trainer clicker to mark mistakes with loud pops in recorded track. That's all there is to it. Til next time. - UC
  13. Hey there, I was looking through the KotOR 1 Restoration thread and noticed that there's a cut element called "Sand People Messiah" with a reason for lack of restoration being that there's "No HK VO." Just wanted to say that if someone were to ever try and restore this content, I would happily voice any HK lines necessary for it to come into being.
  14. Honored to be a part of it. Congrats to my fellow actors!
  15. Does anyone have T-model break downs that show the full outfit of the party members? I am looking for Carth and Canderous specifically for cosplay reference. Similar to this Revan image. Thanks!149920_original.jpg

That's perfect! Wow, thank you so much - that'll be a huge help.

  16. Seems very professional to me! I bet she could do exactly what you're looking for. Very clear, bright voice in her preview - I'm interested in seeing how she'll darken up her tone for the role.
  17. Thanks Varkor, that's what I'm going for! I'm a big fan of Bennett's since the Outcast days, and while he doesn't have the most menacing voice around, I really felt like he nailed Revan's sort of refined, no nonsense kind of attitude that I imagine he had pre-mind wipe.
  18. Are we supposed to be able to know who is reacting to our posts? Or is it a fun little mystery?
  19. Thanks for the suggestions, ebmar. I'll definitely be playing around with it later tonight and let you know how it works out.
  20. Here's another video of the player character wearing Revan's mask, which might showcase the filter a bit better in an outdoor environment so it might be a bit more noticeable for what I'm going for. Major spoilers for the SWTOR expansion SOR if anyone watching is looking to avoid that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIuRKTiErEs&t=1m47s EDIT: I can see now that the original video linked, the effect is really barely noticeable. That's my bad! I committed that scene to memory so I didn't realize how faint it is. Hopefully this new one can help clear up what I mean.
  21. Hey guys, saw Solo last night. I really enjoyed it! I also caught what I believe might be a KOTOR reference. I detailed what I heard in this video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMYTZQVsD0s Trying to keep the spoilers out of text format! As for the movie itself, probably my favorite of the new Disney ones. So refreshing after TLJ.
  22. Hey guys, I'm looking for a filter that will create a vocal effect similar to the one used on Revan's mask in the Old Republic. If you haven't heard it: This is for a KOTOR video of Revan's holocron from the Darth Bane novel. I'll put the file here also for use in any mod that you like after the fact, if anyone would be interested. Thanks for the help! EDIT: Just realized that this might be the wrong subforum for this. If so, if a mod could please move it - I'd appreciate it.
  23. Moved to Texas, recently. My recording studio is set up and ready to go. Reach out for VO work.
