Status Updates posted by DarthVarkor

  1. Couple of questionable visual changes (especially to Mass Effect 1) and the human faces/eyes look a bit odd at times, but man, it is good to play through the trilogy again in the Legendary Edition. The gameplay tweaks to ME1 in particular make for a much smoother experience.

It would be so cool if they did a better ending for mass effect 3, but I doubt that will happen

They're just overhauling the visuals, unfortunately. Mass Effect 1's gameplay is more of a buttcrack than Mass Effect 3's Ending in my opinion. Still, Tali in 4K💗

  4. Cyberpunk delay and now this. Don't you just love games sometimes?

He always says so after pretty much every Bond film he does, but I believe he's serious about it this time. The director also talked about wanting to give him a "great send off" too, so it looks like it.

  9. When Robert Pattinson was announced as Batman, I had my doubts (but after the controversy surrounding Heath Ledger's casting as The Joker for TDK and how wrong everyone turned out to be I decided to wait and see), but god damn this looks excellent so far:

Reminds me of a scene in Batman Returns when the eye make-up around Keaton magically dissapears before he takes the cowl off. So glad they're not doing anything like that from what we've seen so far.

I could never get into The Last of Us 1, despite loving the Uncharted games, but I can't deny how interesting all the drama around Naughty Dog is.

  15. Well, despite numerous glitches, tedious load times and texture pop-in issues, Kingdom Come: Deliverance was absolutely fantastic. I still have to play the Sir Hans & Woman's Lot DLC add-ons, but I loved the base game. Definitely recommend!

      Stormie97

The Woman's Lot DLC is the only one I'd really recommend to play, Band of Bastards is okay too.

      DarthVarkor

As far as I'm aware, I have to finish the Sir Hans DLC before I can technically "finish" the game (it says in my journal to do so before riding off with him), but I did get all the DLC in a bundle, so I might as well play them all through.

  16. Anyone here played Kingdom: Come Deliverance? Would you recommend it?

I played it briefly a while back on Xbox Game Pass but never really got into it, and seeing as I can just play it on PC through Game Pass instead (and hopefully have a better frame rate than the crappy Xbox version) I'm considering giving it another shot.

(Then again, Bannerlord has just come out. Decisions, decisions...)

I got 246 hours clocked in (even created a sword for the game a few weeks ago) so here are my two cents:

In a nutshell, I love it. An interesting thing is that you learn to play the game at the same rate as your character.

The playable character, Henry, is just the young son of the village's blacksmith and hasn't done much of his young adulthood apart from drinking and getting into trouble. So you, the player, and Henry, will have to learn to fight (among other things). You, to get accustomed to the initially challenging combat system, and Henry, fighting at all. Same applied to basically all other skills. It's hard at first, but after a bit of practicing, you'll get gud.

The story is pretty good and there are enough side quests to keep you entertained for hours and hours. The game is pretty stable now and most bugs have been corrected. Be aware though that the game still has a bit of a jankiness to it. The animations aren't all always top notch and dialogues barely have any animations or even facial expressions, which is a shame, especially nowadays. But you get used to it quickly.

So yeah, I'd say give it a try. I've been playing Bannerlord a lot since Monday and I can tell you that for now it's just a barely graphically enhanced version of Warband. Most actual new features are missing from the early access, so if you're not in a hurry to play it, I'd advise you to wait a bit more (or grab it now to get the 20% off and wait for a few updates).

It's an interesting game. How much you get out of it really depends on your personal preferences. Give it a try, but be aware that the start is a slow boil. It's probably an hour or more before you see the actual title roll and the game proper begins.

Oh yeah, I think I put about 3 hours into it last time. I remember the slow start, but I think I got to the part where you join a town guard or something? Definitely seems like an interesting game though. I really like the idea of the slow progression as your character learns how to fight, too. (Think I spent most of those three hours getting my ass handed to me repeatedly.)

Yeah, after looking into it a bit that's what I've heard, too. Apparently it's not very well optimized at the moment either? I've read about people with high end rigs getting about 30FPS max during the heat of combat. Think I might wait until about Summer-time when some patches come in (and I assume the Steam Summer Sale will at least match the current discount offer.)

Sounds like I'll be giving KCD a try then once this I get this film done, thanks for your input guys!

I would personally recommend it if you are interested even a little in actual history and want to try to live the closest approximation of "Fighting in the Middle Ages". The Developers take great pains to ensure that every detail is accurate according to official record right down to the characters themselves.

The graphics as many have probably are mentioned are among the best in recent years, and at times can look remarkably close to real life.

The only gripe or at the very least hesitation I would have in recommending it is the combat. If you like the flow of first-person swordfighting from something like Skyrim, you should feel right at home but it certainly takes some getting used to. The AI is also capable of adapting, so the only "Cheese" moves you can do are Perfect Block and Ripposte (Master Strike), but if you do them too much combat just gets repetitive.

Also (From what I can tell) It has some pretty decent Graphical pre-requisites, so you need a good rig to play it if you hope to have a good framerate.

  17. Well. that's a replay of the Mass Effect Trilogy done. That ending still leaves a bad taste in the mouth...

You ever try the fan mod Mass Effect Happy Ending Mod or MEHEM for short?

Oh yeah, I used expanded galaxy in this playthrough, it added quite a bit to the experience, as did Priority: Earth overhaul. That one really surprised me, they fixed a lot of bugs and added cut content, added new music to the combat encounters and other small details that made the level feel a lot more potent. Even gave Harbinger some lines, which was nice!

There was another mod that made it so Citadel DLC was basically an epilogue, no references to the war or anything like that. It made for an enjoyable "after the credits" kind of experienc

I used that in combination with the original MEHEM once and it was quite a nice combination. I honestly don't know why I decided to use the vanilla extended cut ending this time. But, at least I still got to enjoy the Citadel DLC. Definitely the best part of ME3 and gave us this brilliant track:

@JenkoThere is even a mod that removes the "Starchild" from the nightmare cutscenes and replaces it with things a character who had seen things like Shepard would actually care about like: The scene from Virmire from the first game, the horror of the Reapers, what a post Reaper Earth would look like, and the disturbing scenes from the Prothean vision. nexusmods.com/masseffect3/mods/534

  20. https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-2077-is-delayed/ Well, I had a feeling it was coming. Gutted I won't be able to play it as soon as originally hoped, but if it means the game will be a more perfectly polished experience then I'm happy to wait.

Damn shame, because they make great games & their consumer-friendly approach has always been well received. Hopefully the amount of tension this has garnered will force them to approach the crunch in a healthy & reasonable fashion.

Except that time they threatened supposed TW2 pirates with lawsuits unless they handed over a bag of cash (up to €1000 apparently). They soon realised that probably wasn't the best way to win friends and influence people and did a complete 180. They also used the horribly invasive DRM Starforce for the original release of TW1.

Admittedly, that wasn't the best tactic on CDPR's part at all. But, I find it hard to sympathize with these alleged pirates who pirated from (at the time) an up and coming game studio who was relying on the success of The Witcher games to stay in business. Not saying they are perfect, by any means, but they are a far cry from the likes of Bethesda, Activision and EA these days, I just hope they don't devolve during this crunch period on Cyberpunk.

  21. Playing The Witcher 1 the first time before a play-through of 2&3 and...YIKES. The story is good but the gameplay is absolutely killing it for me.

The gameplay is AWFUL but the story is great. It kinda grows on you in a sick demented way. I jokingly referred to it as gaming Stockholm syndrome.

  22. On the whole, season one of The Mandalorian was absolutely fantastic. Given how divisive the Disney produced Star Wars films have been, it's great to see the majority of fans really enjoying some new Star Wars content again. Bring on season two!
