Kotor/TSL Model Format (MDL/MDX) Technical Details
VarsityPuppet replied to ndix UR's topic in Modding Tools
We're pretty close. I know we have those problems solved individually. Not sure what's up with the shadows not showing though.. is that a side-effect of our mdlops vertex weight fix? -
I've had this same issue before. It's part of the reason with the Handmaiden Sister mod, I had to make a separate body model with the sister heads attached. Not sure if there's any workaround... In fact, for the few cases where we have gotten "hood mods" to work correctly, this same issue plagued those experiments, I believe.
-
Forehead is still too small It's absolutely marvelous that we've gotten to this point though where we can start customizing heads and have them actually look professional grade, not with those jarring hard edges and everything... What are you talking about? Brianna's mother is Arren Kae.

SW-The Old Republic-Worth it or not...?
VarsityPuppet replied to djnugent's topic in The Old Republic
Well, so far there's 3 of us on 3 different servers. Begeren Colony, The Harbinger, Jedi Covenant, and I think there were quite a few on Red Eclipse back in the day.- 116 replies

SW-The Old Republic-Worth it or not...?

Boooooo, Begeren Colony is where it's at! How did we end on so many different servers? I feel like we probably could have coordinated on this a little better :/ Is there a DeadlyStream guild btw?- 116 replies

SW-The Old Republic-Worth it or not...?

I would spend Cartel Coins on inventory or cargo unlocks, plus any other things that you might lose access to, pending your transition from "Subscribed" to "Preferred" status. Also try to keep an eye out for armors or items that you're really into, but before you do that, let me go into my next point... I've found you get a pretty good loadout of items as you do missions (Heroic/Story/Class/Flashpoint). If you want to specifically go for higher-end weapons, I recommend seeking out the Galactic Trade Network (it's in the Republic Fleet in the top right semi-circle I think). Being that you're level 10, I would probably not too much work into buying equipment from vendors on Tython. Collect up your money and you'll have access to better gear soon enough.- 116 replies

SW-The Old Republic-Worth it or not...?

For what it's worth, I'm on Begeren Colony, though I'm not on all that often. As far as tips there are too many to count, but I'll maybe start with this: 1) Get your subscription ASAP. For subscribing you get a lot of nice beginner stuff that will make things easier to do in general, including the ability to run, a vehicle and cargo access, which is essential 2) If you want to do a "Single-Player-esque" playthrough only, don't worry about weekly/daily missions. Instead, focus on Heroics (as they usually give lots of $$ + XP) and Flashpoints. Flashpoints are self-contained missions and you can do them with a group or by yourself in Solo mode. 3) You gain more experience when you're in a group 4) Once you get to the Republic/Imperial Fleet, you generally will get a package of supplies from someone I think once you choose your specialization class. DON'T THROW THE PACK OF SUPPLIES AWAY That's all I can think of for now- 116 replies

I really enjoy SWTOR, though to get the most out of it, I would subscribe for at least a month. That way you get "preferred" status which unlocks quite a few things. To answer some of your specific questions: 1) I think you can get through the main story pretty easy, but Knights of the Fallen Empire requires a level 60 character. Beyond that, I think some of the upper level items might be restricted, but you're pretty powerful by 50 anyways. 2) Yes it's single player enough 3) As I said subscribe for a month or two and then when that ends you automatically get preferred status. All things considered though, this game is massive and considering all the work they put into it, I find it pretty reasonable to be paying for them to continue to create content. That is just me though- 116 replies

Fascinating discoveries researching NWN tools
VarsityPuppet replied to xander2077's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I that depends on which version of MDLOPS you're using. FS and I attempted to resolve that issue in 7, though I think there were still some bugs for certain scenarios. Any previous versions did not address that issue There is a thread here regarding bump mapping. I think there is some other information, but I'll have to look around Yeah if it's free then why not -

Good to hear this is being looked at. Not sure I would be much help, but Fair Strides and I recently did things with vertex normals, so we might be able to contribute. -
I mean, obviously they're not all stupid, but this video is amazing! NSFW http://www.collegehumor.com/video/7035171/all-star-wars-characters-have-stupid-names

I need an area specifically for Testing
VarsityPuppet replied to VarsityPuppet's topic in Mod Requests
I need it for Kotor II specifically. -
Ladies and Gents Due to a series of clandestine tests I will be running, I am in need of a large flat area in which to perform tests. I'm not the greatest with area modeling, and my 3DSMax license expired a few weeks ago and I cannot be bothered to set it up right now. Probably just need a 100m x 100m area, flat ground, normal lighting, and preferably set up as a full module, .lyt, .git and whatever else. FWIW, you'll be assisting with the development of Duplisaber, but keep in mind this is a test area, so it would not be making it into the final product. Any takers? (I'm looking at you, SithSpecter )

I'm not typically a fan of cosplay, but I found this example of Atris to be particularly intriguing: It's from @mowseler, check her out on Twitter She has a pretty good Dark-Side Atris... might even make a good reskin mod.. (hint, hint)
-
Who has two thumbs and is working on Duplisaber right now?
-
The difference is people have chosen to host here or explicit permission has been granted for hosting. Unless Sith Holocron or Fair Strides have been lying about having acquired permission? Perhaps we start a tally on the number of mods with questionable/contested authorship? Please don't mistake me for someone who is really bothered by all this though. I will simply keep my eye on Nexus and ask my mods be removed.
-
Does it not seem totally backwards that they claim to respect authorship rights, yet the burden of searching and claiming all of these mods lies with the mod authors that may or may not even know these are being hosted at nexus? Just saying that's preeeeeety convenient for them. Especially since they get ad revenue from page clicks.
-
Might I add that it's incredibly inconvenient for me to have to search Nexus for my mods and then specifically ask for them to be removed. I suppose it is that way by design though.
-
What do people here use for writing KotOR scripts? I stumbled upon a solution that is pretty versatile for myself..
-
I could not find any of my mods either
-
Doesn't Nexus Mods get ad revenue from page views/clicks? I guess respecting mod authors is only important until there's money to be made.
