6 pointsOn behalf of members of Deadlystream community, We acknolwedge and honor the effort and dedication of a respected member of our community, Sith Holocron. As many of you know, Sith Holocron has been an admin on deadlystream for as long as many of us can remember. He recently announced his reitrement as of July 1st, 2018. Years and years of patiently handling and resolving conflict between modders, community members, moderators, and other admins, Sith Holocron went above and beyond the requirements of his position and actively sought out to create a friendly, constructive forum site. Often pointing forum members, through PM or forum posts, towards other members that would have the knowledge they sought. When I was new the forums, it was SH who pointed me towards certain members to ask about modding topics. Sith Holocron's outstanding management to maintain and uphold the Rules of Deadlystream, even when he may have personally disagreed with the rules, and, in some cases, when enforcing the rules was unpopular, stands as testament to his incredible dedication. Despite knowing that by his actions of enforcing unpopular rules and policies, he would put himself, personally, in the crossfire; he continually did so for the benefit of the community. Sith Holocron invested into the community in ways, many of us cannot presume to comprehend, as an administrator, and, to this day, as a member of the community. From critique and to praise, from engaging and encouraging modders to collaborate and create to reminding members of the DS policies, Sith Holocron influenced the establishment of countless mods. Here are a few of those mods: M4-78 Darth Sion and Male Exile Mod Lightsaber and Force Forms Want Kaah Gone Realistic Skybox fo Deathdisco's Coruscant Handmaiden and Female Exile - Kreia's Fall in HD with original Sound and music Star Map Revamp M4-78 Alternate SkyBox Pack 1.0 K1 Galaxy Map Fix Pack TSL Galaxy Map Fix Pack Ebon Hawk Model Fixes Recruitment of Master Atris M4-78 MOvies Remade Taibhrigh's Female Player Head Taibhrigh's PFHA04 Extended Enclave Dustil Restoration Telos Citadel Station Skybox G0-T0 Overhaul Dak's Armored Robes Trainable Disciple (Upcoming mod) Juhani Catlike Head Mod WE, as a community, are indebted to you SH for all the engagement, management, and innumberable hours you've put into Deadlystream. For over eight years of service towards our community, Thank you Sith Holocron!

5 pointsThanks. <bashful> I just quit the Staff. I ain't leaving the site, folks. Easier to have less responsibilities so I can concentrate on assisting other mods - mainly by recruiting. It is more rewarding (for me) and I think I might appear less like a blowhard that way. You're not rid of me yet...

2 pointsAh, I had forgotten that the source textures were available. I'd never downloaded them, so was only going from what I had on my HDD. Looking at the heavy blaster source, it looks like it would be easy enough to get a psuedo-height map out of that just by turning off the colour layers, although it might need some manual adjustment/cleanup in a few spots. Here's a quick and dirty example: Although if you were going to go that route you'd want to turn off all the highlights on the diffuse and rely on the normal map for that detail. But to be honest I'd just stick with SS's vanilla textures. They are more than good enough on their own.

2 pointsHello everyone! Some of you may remember me from LF before it went down which brings me to why this topic is being created. Back on LF, there was a role-play section known as the Dantooine theater company which was an area designed for Role-playing. I was thinking of seeing it we could do something similar here but I wanted to get people's thoughts and opinions before anything concrete was put in motion. If you have any thoughts, idea, opinions, please feel free to post it here. Hope you all have a wonderful night - Chev

2 pointsThanks for the input! I ended up deciding it better fit my Sith Texture Restoration mod, so I've added it there

1 pointI really haven't played SWTOR since release. During a recent livestream, a few of my viewers suggested that I try playing it again. I thought it would be fun to do as a livestream thing since I actually have a reliable setup now. So I wanted to see if anyone was interested in joining us on our adventure. Questions I have from people who actually play SWTOR. What class / faction / server should I play? Anything I need to know/ do? Do I need to have a subscription to make this viable? Let me know if you think this is a good idea and if you want to join me. I don't have a time set up yet, so that is something to discuss too.

1 pointI suppose I could have gone to the market and bought some awesome decorations for my strongholds. Do you think that would make me feel a little more accomplished (see what I did there)?

1 pointI'm totally including this for when I repackage High Quality Blasters.

1 pointSeeing as how my blasters have come up in several posts, I will try to clarify a few things. The muzzles I kept in a very similar location to the originals. I think the power blast muzzle looks the strangest, as its model does have the most volume and extends back behind the muzzle hook. The regular muzzle flash is right at the tip of the barrel. In addition, many firearms have ported muzzle brakes so that the flash actually does come from porting around the barrel tip. The textures were made grainy and a lower resolution as to blend in with the overall game as best as possible. Higher resolution source files should be in the modder's resource should you need them, with or without the grain as well.
-
1 pointThe other thing is that SS's textures - presumably on purpose - have a lot of grain. Trying to generate normal maps from colour images usually ends poorly at the best of times, but the grain in this case would make for a very noisy normal map. A noisy normal map is a bad normal map. Additionally, the source texture is pretty low res. It works fine in the game given the size of the blasters, but again this makes for a poor normal map when taking into account the effect of compression artefacts. The thing to keep in mind is that normal maps are not magic. Adding one doesn't inherently make a model look better. On the contrary, a poor normal map will make it look worse.

1 pointI'd like to propose something regarding the Sith Textures: By default there are only a couple places where the Sith_Soldier_03 appearance is used: the guard at the Korriban Academy entrance, and a couple of the Elite Troopers. I'm considering including the alternate version of the Sith Texture mod; leaving all the SIth_Soldier_01 appearances as default, but changing the Sith_Soldier_03 to the white texture. Along with this change, I would correct the incorrect Elite appearances throughout the game. This way normal Sith Troopers would be silver, Heavy Troopers and Grenadiers would be red, and Elite or Command Troopers would be white. This would also fix several places where there's no differentiation between Elite Troopers and standard ones. What do y'all think of that?

1 pointThe problem with that is that the anthology movies are better than the trilogy movies... Can't believe I haven't posted this one in the topic yet; (Spoilers obviously)
