    K1 Clothing Pack

    Version 1.1.1

    254 downloads

A Mod for Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic Author: N-DReW25 1.1.0 Release Date: 12.12.2023 Installation: Please install the K1 Community Patch FIRST before this mod! If you plan on using it, install the Unofficial K1CP Tweak Pack mod SECOND! (The Tweak Pack is optional and is NOT required for this mod to work. Do NOT install "Fixed Male 01 Clothing" or "K1 Outcast Clothing Fix" from this mod as these fixes are included in THIS mod!) If you want to use it, install the Restored Content for K1CP mod BEFORE this mod. Make sure you install the NPC Diversity Pack mod BEFORE this mod in its entirety for best results! Once you're ready to install the mod, simply click on this mod's TSLPatcher.exe and you'll be faced two options. This mod comes in 2 parts, and since these parts are optional you'll be given two installation options. The "K2 to K1 Clothing Install" shall install the ported K2 clothing component of the pack whilst the "K1EP Clothing Install" shall install the K1EP component of the mod, for more details on these installations please refer to the "Description" section of this readme. Click which install you'd like to install, click install, sit back and watch the TSLPatcher do its magic. Once the installer has finished, click the INSTALL.exe again and repeat this process. Description: In terms of commoner clothing, Obsidian added various new outfits for their NPCs in Kotor 2. The default 'potato sack' outfit was given a stylish facelift, the bloodied Outcast outfit was replaced with the Refugee outfits we see today and on Telos we saw the introduction of a new noble outfit. This mod will port those Kotor 2 clothing textures to Kotor 1... but with a twist! The Kotor 1 Community Patch does the same thing as Obsidian did, it replaced K1's 'potato sack' outfit "N_CommM01" with Kotor 2's default outfit and Gendar's bloodied Outcast outfit "N_CommM07" was replaced with an Refugee outfit. This mod won't do that, instead, K1's 'potato sack' and K2's default clothing shall be two different outfits NPCs can wear. The removal of the clothing replacement is most pronounced in the Outcast village where almost every NPC now wears a Refugee outfit instead of the K1 bloodied Outcast outfit... except for the Outcasts infected with the Rakghoul disease, their clothing shall still use the K1 bloodied Outcast outfit texture. This mod shall also add the K2 noble outfit, but even this outfit has a twist of its own! In K2, the male noble outfit was blue whilst the female noble outfit was purple... in this mod, you will find 2 noble outfits across the galaxy: a blue male and female noble outfit and a purple male and female outfit. In the latest 1.1 update, I've added the new clothing from the K1 Enhancement Pack modder's resource. This will come in the form of an alternative installation which will work great with the previous K2 to K1 Clothing component. In addition to the K1EP clothing, I've added compatibility for the latest update of the Restored Content for K1CP Demo, if you have that mod installed the new clothing added in this mod shall be gloveless as they are in that mod. If you aren't familiar with any of the above mentioned outfits, please check the screenshots on the mod page so you'll know whether or not this mod is for you. Known Bugs: This mod shouldn't have bugs, but if there feel free to report it to me on Deadlystream. Incompatibilities: Please report any incompatibilities! Permissions: Do NOT claim credit for this mod and do not use assets from this mod without my permission. Thanks to: Bioware: For such an amazing game! Obsidian: For such an amazing sequel and for making the K2 textures! SpaceAlex: For releasing the K1EP as a modder's resource! Fred Tetra: For Kotor Tool! Stoffee: For TSLPatcher! Everyone who downloads the mod! Legal: THIS MODIFICATION IS NOT SUPPORTED BY BIOWARE/OBSIDIAN ENTERTAINMENT, LUCASARTS, DISNEY OR ANY LICENSERS/SPONSORS OF THE MENTIONED COMPANIES. This mod replaces the vanilla and/or the installed Republic Soldier texture with the new shade-specularity tweaked version. # Background # The way I see it; the vanilla and/or already present Republic Soldier texture lacks some shading and reflection particularly on its trim, so I thought adding ones would somehow enhance its appearance. # About this Mod # Inside this mod are 6 options of new shade and specularity tweaked Republic Soldier texture in TPC format: [Main] New Shade for Male NPC Republic Soldier [Option-1] Vanilla version for JC's "Republic Soldier Fix for K1" - Male and Female * [Option-2] Vanilla Version Model - Female NPC Republic Soldier [Option-3] New Shade for JC's "Republic Soldier Uniform for PC" - Male and Female * [Option-4] Vanilla version for JC's "Republic Soldier Uniform for PC" - Male and Female * [Option-5] New Shade for JC's "Republic Soldier Fix for K1" - Male and Female NPC Republic Soldier * * Option 1, 3, 4 and 5 requires JCarter426/JC's "JC's Republic Soldier Fix for K1" to be installed first. # Final Remarks # There's always room for improvements - critiques, comments, suggestions, questions and feedbacks for the next update are much appreciated - PM, write them on my feed or leave any on the mod's page as you please. And thank you! for downloading, and playing this mod. Hope you enjoy the mod as much as I do! Installation: I suggest you to manually removes any TGA/DDS and TXI instances of the relevant files [if there're any] from the 'Override' folder. And then - run the installer [TSLPatcher.exe], and hit the [Install Mod ->] button! Uninstallation: remove the installed files from the 'Override' folder or replaces them with the files stored in the 'Backup' folder [if generated] Compatibility: this option will be compatible with JCarter426's "JC's Republic Soldier Fix for K1" as long as this mod was installed after the said mod has. With any mods that is using the same name for the assets and/or potentially overwrite this mod, no compatibility is guaranteed Redistribution: if you want to redistribute the mod - just go with it. Though less likely I will provide supports to any other place than DeadlyStream. If you are to re-use an assets to a project you will be releasing, you don't have to ask for permission - but your generous intention is very much welcome. I'd love to know what others are up too, particularly if my work are included. And then, make sure to credit BioWare & LucasArts with the release - particularly with the inclusion of the assets. An appreciation to this lil' peasant work here is also a very warm welcome, welcome. Version 1.0.1

View and export Odyssey Engine proprietary texture formats. A lightweight, somewhat quick viewer for textures in TPC format, or the proprietary header DDS format used in Aurora and its descendants. Also provides a capability to export to TGA, which is useful when you find images that won't convert via any other tool. The viewer aspect is a bit of an afterthought, as for the longest time this was just where I tested my TPC=>TGA conversion code. However, over time, I found myself wanting a simple viewer that could preview a lot of images at once, so this happened. The application is cross-platform, available for macOS and Windows. The app is written in javascript, built on Electron using three.js. ============================================================ How do I set it up? Windows: Download the '-installer' file, unzip the 7z package, run tgaview Setup <version>.exe Mac: unzip the package, move tpcview.app to /Applications, run it * This is not a signed application, so you have to do whatever is required to run non-MAS applications on your MacOS version. The application provides file associations for TPC & DDS files. Hopefully the DDS association will not override any you may already have for non-proprietary DDS files. ============================================================ How do I use it? Viewing Drag files in. They should show up. The files you drag in fill the window in a list that generally resembles the file input order. They all show at once, so there's a moderate memory requirement around loading many files at once. For example, loading the 5210 TPC files from TSL takes 2.25G memory on my machine, your mileage will vary. Mouse over images to get info about them in the window's title bar. Click images to toggle scaling the image to fit the window and viewing the information about them in the info panel at the bottom of the window. Double click the background of the window to clear all loaded images. Exporting Use modifier keys while dragging in order to get Export as TGA functionality. A description of the export activity you are requesting shows up in the info panel at the bottom while you are dragging. Export will occur while the file is being loaded. You cannot export already open images without dragging them in again. Files are exported into same directory as original TPC files being dragged, THEY WILL OVERWRITE EXISTING TGA FILES WITHOUT WARNING. When a TPC file is exported to TGA, a TXI file will also be generated if the original TPC file contained such information. When adding alpha blending value to TXI output, only non-1.0 values will be added (as 1.0 is considered default). ============================================================ Features View TPC format 32bpp, 24bpp, and 8bpp compressed and uncompressed images View Aurora proprietary DDS format 32bpp and 24bpp compressed images Export to TGA Export TXI files containing the texture extension information from TPC files Export all detail levels (mipmaps) present in original image file (can help debugging image compressors) Add an alpha blending value from the TPC header into exported TXI file outputs, i.e. '# alphablending 0.67' File association for TPC and DDS formats with provided file type icons

This mod replaces all the saber icons [Mantle of the Force, Heart of the Guardian and Malak's Lightsaber included] with the all new Cool Saber Icons. -= BACKGROUND =- When I switch around the lightsabers on the equip-list menu I had noticed that the blue lightsaber icons wasn't blue enough -- it was more purple than blue for this eyes, so I decided to make it blue, similar to the blade's color. The color of the icons were inspired by JCarter426's "JC's Lightsaber Visual Effects", the K1 version in particular. In the end not only the color that was changed, but the overall style of all the icons as well. -= ABOUT THIS MOD =- Inside this mod are 22 new Cool Saber Icons in TPC format -- covering all the available [saber] icons [including the unobtainable Malak's] in vanilla game. Preview -- As in v2.0.0 the hilts were rendered using VarsityPuppet's "Hi Poly Tin Cans" [ported to K1 by Fallen Guardian] enhanced by DarthParametric's "Alternative Textures". DP did the neat work as well on rendering them for me to repurpose as icons. As for the background bits I used and combined the TOR assets ported and provided by Magnetiicz. -- provided as well user-friendly TGA/DDS/TXI cleaner and mod-uninstaller for convenience purpose. -= FINAL REMARKS =- As it stands now Malak's Lightsaber is unobtainable in-game in a regular way. However, you can use cheat-console then type for giveitem g_w_lghtsbr06 to get one. I planned on allowing players to obtain one in-game sometimes in the future -- probably with the next update. There's always room for improvements; reviews, critiques, comments, suggestions, questions and feedbacks are much appreciated. Hope you enjoy the mod as much as I do! -= INSTALLATION =- Be sure to check for _CLEANLEFTOVERS folder first and read the Readme for further required actions When you're sure and ready -- hit the [Install Mod ->] button! -= UNINSTALLATION =- Available in the _UNINSTALL folder -- be certain to read the Readme first! -= COMPATIBILITY =- Is NOT compatible with mods that share the provision; doing same thing, same assets, etc. -= REDISTRIBUTION =- I'd love to provide direct support to my work, which wouldn't be possible if they're scattered in the Unknown Regions -- so be considerate to not redistribute this mod or re-release it on any websites. If you're to use the assets from this mod - please be kindly to ask for permission first -- that way I know what's up, and if it's interesting enough I might offer to be involved, hahah. 6. View File tga2tpc tga2tpc Author: ndix UR Release: Sep 2020 Version: 4.0.0 Convert TGA images to TPC format for use in KotOR and TSL. TPC files contain the information from a TXI file (so the TXI file is no longer needed when a TPC file is used), and can be uncompressed or compressed with either DXT1 or DXT5. Advanced features like animation and cubemap layering are initiated by the presence of specific TXI directives like cube 1 and proceduretype cycle. For some reason, the game really wants normal maps to be in TPC format. This will let you create and use full 32-bit color normal maps without having to make them into simple height maps by using indexed color. The tool is free, open source, and cross-platform. Code is available at https://github.com/ndixUR/tga2tpc The app is written in javascript, built on Electron using three.js, jquery, bootstrap. It includes a ported version of the AMD/GPUOpen Compressonator image compression library. ============================================================ How do I set it up? Windows: unzip the package, run tga2tpc.exe Mac: unzip the package, move tga2tpc.app to /Applications, run it * This is not a signed application, so you have to do whatever is required to run non-MAS applications on your MacOS version. ============================================================ How do I use it? Drag files in and hit start. There shouldn't be much more to it than that. Using power-of-2 sized textures is always required for optimal quality, TXI information is optional, and the settings are pretty much self-explanatory. The nature of TPC alpha blending is not necessarily intuitive so you may need to seek information to use it properly. Compressor settings: Super Fast - the lowest quality setting, uses the pre-4.0.0 image compressor that includes the 'compression failure' error for long conversion queues Fast - Bare bones setting Normal - Runs two profiles and selects the best result, adaptive color weighting Slow - Deeper refinement of the color palette for each 4x4 pixel block Ultra - 3D refinement of the color palette for each 4x4 pixel block How Automatic encoding mode selects encoding for each texture in the queue: 24bpp TGA = DXT1 32bpp TGA = DXT5 8bpp TGA = 8bpp uncompressed isbumpmap1 or compresstexture 0 in TXI data = 24 or 32bpp uncompressed ============================================================ Features Create cubemaps Create animated textures Automatic compression selection based on trends from the vanilla game High quality DXT1/5 compression engine using custom ported version of AMD/GPUOpen Compressonator Multi-core image compression on systems with 4 or more cores Horizontal/Vertical flip, for those pesky wrongly oriented TGA files Bicubic downsampling for mipmaps (precomputed lower detail versions of the texture, part of the TPC format) Control texture alpha blending setting (part of TPC format), can be loaded from TXI file comments of the form: "# alphablending 0.67" Known Issues Cannot create uncompressed animated textures. Super Fast compressor has a memory leak issue, leading to errors for long conversion queues Using 4:1 and wider size ratios for individual frames of animated textures seem to crash the game. 2:1 is fine, 1:4 is fine, etc. Only for converting from TGA to TPC. For TPC to TGA, use Kotor Tool, xoreos-tools, tpcview, etc. Progress bar doesn't update as often as you might want. The package size is large. This is the cost of easy cross-platform GUI support. All electron applications are large like this. You are likely to have problems trying to read TGAs from folders containing markup entities/encoded characters (like ') ============================================================ Thanks DarthParametric for inciting the creation of this tool, and doing the testing. DrMcCoy and all the contributors to xoreos, whose TPC decoding implementation provided the basis for the TPC library herein. bead-v for moral support. 8. Just a simple information to share to save ones from getting burnt-out, lol. Why we don't want to use TPC format for lightmaps? It broke the maps When put into a module/MOD file, it crashes your game upon reloading and/or exiting the game Stick only with the TGA for that one...

  10. View File tpcview View and export Odyssey Engine proprietary texture formats. '# alphablending 0.67' File association for TPC and DDS formats with provided file type icons Submitter ndix UR Submitted 01/30/2020 Category Modding Tools

  14. I've noticed while extracting a good number of textures from the KOTOR 1 game files that the ones that are mostly black have no alpha on them(such as the ones with stars). Does the game have a special way of handling textures that makes them transparent with this or is this an issue with all of the tpc to tga converters for the game? If anybody has an explanation of this that would be great, i cant seem to find a way to easily and quickly remove the black from the images.
  15. The TPC texture format contains a floating point number in its header that we refer to as 'alpha blending'. It appears to be critical when used with DXT5 compression. This tutorial will try to help you use this feature properly. What is alpha blending? Alpha blending is not a direct 'opacity' or 'transparency' factor. It is only relevant for non-environment mapped textures that contain alpha-channel image-based transparency. For example, semi-transparent signage, mostly transparent windows, ghosts, etc. The best description I can give you for what alpha blending is: TLDR: alpha blending is not object opacity. It hides any mesh behind the textured object that has opacity less than tpc alpha blending number. Set it to 0.0 when using texture alpha channel as transparency. The meshes that will be hidden include any mesh that may be using alpha channel solely for environment mapping. Let's see how this plays out in practice with some visual aids. Each figure uses a TPC encoded version of the K1 Manaan Overhaul semi-transparent texture for the Sith Embassy signage. Transparency of the sign is right around 50%. Figure 1. TPC with alphaBlending set to 1.0 With alphaBlending set to 1.0 the only thing that shows through the sign is the skybox itself. This may be some kind of depth buffer test to make sure that something always blends through, which, in the 1.0 case, leaves just the most distant mesh, the skybox. Figure 2. TPC with alphaBlending set to 0.9 This seems to be the critical shot. With alphaBlending set to 0.9, lma_wall11 is showing, while lma_wall09 is hidden. lma_wall11 is 100% opaque, 0% transparent. lma_wall09 is 85% opaque, 15% transparent. So because lma_wall11 opacity > alphaBlending, it is shown, while, for lma_wall09, opacity < alphaBlending, so it is hidden. Figure 3. TPC with alphaBlending set to 0.5 In figure 3 we can see that both lma_wall09 and lma_wall11 are showing because their opacities are both greater than 50%. Figure 4. TPC with alphaBlending set to 0.0 This looks exactly the same as figure 3. Wait, isn't that weird though? Why can't we see the other sign through the first sign? It's opacity is 50%, which is greater than 0.0... Figure 5. TPC with alphaBlending set to 0.5, reverse viewing angle Just by looking through the sign in the opposite direction, the signs in the background now are blended through. This is showing a couple things. First, it seems that alphaBlending doesn't actually control instances where the same texture is behind itself. Instead, it appears that there is some kind of directionality at play. I haven't figured out what determines the direction of blending. I investigated whether it was the faces that appear earlier or later, but that didn't necessarily seem true. Using alpha blending The game's vanilla textures use all kinds of different values from 0.0 - 1.0 here. I do not fully understand why or how they have come up with a lot of their alpha blending values. In my testing, it seems like if you have a semi-transparent object, you set this to a low value, 0.0 or 0.1, and if you have a non-transparent object, you set this to 1.0. The important thing is that you do not think of alpha blending as the transparency or opacity of the object itself. If anyone comes up with better guidelines for setting this value through scientific testing, I will be happy to update this post to reflect the improved guidance.
