KotOR SaveGame Editor View File KotOR Savegame Editor is a Perl/Tk application used in the editing of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic savegame files. The following fields are currently editable: - Savegame name - Player name - NPC Name - Appearance (player and party) - Portrait (player and party) - Attributes - Skill Ranks - Equipment (player and party)*** - Feats (add/remove)** - Powers (add/remove)** - Cheats Used flag - Hit Points (current and max*) - Force Points (current and max*) - Experience Points (player and party) - Good/Evil rating - Credits - Time played - Class (see notes below)** - Levels - Current Party - NPCs - Global Booleans - Global Numerics - Gender - Min1HP - Inventory** - Influence (TSL only) - Chemicals (TSL only) - Components (TSL only) - Quests *=Note: Max Hit Points and Max Force Points, while editable appear to be calculated at the time the savegame is loaded. Therefore while these fields are editable, the game will change the values back to what it calculates as correct. It is therefore better to change your Wis/Cha and Con to affect your MFP and MHP. ** Not supported on Xbox Saves, will cause "Damaged Savegame" message. *** See special section for detailed instructions ----------------- Credits ----------------- tk102 for originally creating the KSE. Pazuzu156 for reporting the issue with the Cloud saves, as well as helping fix it and setting up a mirror for and creating the auto-updater. Chev Chelios for much discussion of how Steam worked, as well as creating the INI-Generation tool, KPF. ----------------- Before Using KSE ----------------- --------------- Intro to KSE --------------- ------------- Using KSE ------------- --------------------------------------------- Override Folder: Subdirectories NOT supported --------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- Notes About Feats and Powers ----------------------------- ------------------------- Reminder: No Safety Net! ------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- Notes regarding Class-changing/Adding/Removing ----------------------------------------------- -------------------------------- Notes regarding changing levels -------------------------------- ------------------------------- Notes about changing equipment ------------------------------- =============== Known Bugs =============== No saves found (You have Steam KotOR 2 and use cloud saves) ----------------------------------------------------------- Go to your KotOR 2 folder and make a folder called "saves". Inventory Hiccup ------------------ If an item is added to your inventory and it has the same Tag as another item, KSE will generate an error. Getting Stuck During Vision Sequence (KotOR1) ---------------------------------------------- Symptom: After leaving the Endar Spire or Leaving Taris, you run into a sequence where you should be seeing a "dream" cutscene but instead you're locked up in a room with a "CutStart" object that doesn't do anything. Cause: You have NOT placed the modified .dlg files into your override directory and you have changed your character to a Jedi/Minion/Droid class or you have changed your Gender to something other than Male or Female. Fix: Download the KSE Fixed Cutscene Files (available from http://www.pcgamemods.com/8800 ) and place the .dlg files into your Override folder. ============================================== After changing appearance to look like (an NPC), the real NPC has no head! --------------------------------------------------------------- Symptom: You change appearance to look like one of your party NPCs and all is well until you attempt to enter a new area with that NPC. Then the NPC loses its head! Cause: SW:KotOR doesn't like two unique characters appearing together. Fix: From T7Nowhere's post on Holowan Labs-- =============================================================== Equipment Section ------------------ Due to an unknown bug, the Equipment branch might become unusable. The only fix is to restart KSE. ================== Please report bugs to zxcvbnm6012@yahoo.com 11/7/13 - In addition, please report bugs to tristongoucher@gmail.com Thank you. - Fair Strides. I've got a new headset! It's a Razor Kraken USB one with 7.1 Surround sound. And an awesome mic!
-
A friend of mine just bought one of those. It's definitely better than my current headset, but I've been planing on switching to a Desk Mic + Headphones set-up one day.
-
Desktop mics and headsets will only go so far. I'm quite pleased with my RODE NT1-A/Digi 002 combo. Never looked back.

Difficulties with a head model
Fair Strides replied to 211darthrevan443's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Now, now, SS... Let's at least tell the guy what he's in for... Currently, you can do so by making a new animation in 3DSMax or GMax and naming it after the one it's supposed to replace, but MDLOps and KAurora both lose any sort of model smoothing. MDLOps will compile the animations, whereas KAurora won't, but KAurora supports emitters (like the smoke in the game). Also, SS's answer was from personal experience with animating something he did long ago and with much suffering. -
Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I forgot to include a file, so the installer couldn't find it... I've uploaded a new version, so it will need to be approved. However, try the link and see if you can get there and it says 1.1.

KSE refusing to work on Windows 7.

KSE refusing to work on Windows 7.
Fair Strides replied to Snakey125's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
For what it's worth, I've both reported it (saying that it was uploaded without permission) and I just posted this comment to it's comment section: "I am the current maintainer of the KSE (active at Lucasforums and Deadlystream) and "inherited" the position from the original author with his permission. This version of KSE is an older version that was taken from Filefront (even then, it wasn't the newest version Filefront had) and it has been uploaded without either the original author's or my permission... As it is, I am working on an update to KSE that will accommodate the Cloud saves feature and had fully intended on uploading it here when I was ready to do so. Given all of this, I feel it appropriate and justified to request that you take this one down and people can instead use the version from Deadlystream: http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/503-kotor-save-game-editor/" -

Wow... KotOR's Reddit really doesn't give a crap about modder's rights...

The main instigator admits that it's wrong and that it's essentially theft but says he's going to do it anyways...

Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Fair Strides replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
In a very real way, when you create a mod and release it onto a site, you're putting it up for others to enjoy and share around with their friends and enjoy some more. Some mods are small, some big. Some are stupid and funny, some are smart and amazing. Just as the mods come in all shapes and sizes, so do the modders who think them up, plan them, and put a lot of time and effort into making them happen. When you release something to the public, you as the author have a right to set restrictions on how this file can be used. You could be perfectly fine with others uploading it to wherever they want, or you could decide that you don't want the possibility that someone will upload one of your mods that you're proud of and put so much time and effort into somewhere else without your knowledge and then saying it's their work. Another real thing is the Credits section of a mod's read-me. If a modder had to get help from another modder (such as reskinned model, a few scripts, or a lot of dialog and audio), then it's not just the author's work being distributed; the modder that helped them is having their work sent out as well, which is understandably a big issue if the author had to do something special or got very strict restrictions when they received the files themselves. Personally, I release my mods where I know they'll be appreciated. I know that they won't be misused and I can have a reasonable feeling of security that they won't get ripped off, torn apart, and sewn back together as someone's creation... -

Awww, and I was only five minutes behind you... As it is, I'll probably download and backup all of the games' patches and some other big downloads. I don't want to see anything get wasted and I've got the HDD space...

[Help for TSL] Lightsaber Hilt mod flaking out on me
Fair Strides replied to aslanruler's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Just my two cents as to the whole TSLRCM Workshop deal that people are talking about and whether they should or shouldn't install it and/or mods... From my understanding of the details, Steam Workshop's TSLRCM and M4-78EP downloads each make their own folders in a special spot on the system and the game treats the folders as overrides and overwrites the files, correct? If that's the case, then it's not that different from the Elder Scrolls games where they have a load order of mod packages when the game starts up. Granted, we don't have a load order deal with KotOR 2, but the principle is the same, especially in regards to the .2da files. If it could be tested appropriately, I would think that the game checks the mod install folders with lowest-numbered folder to highest-numbered folder... Given this and that the game basically treats those folders as separate Overrides for the game as a whole, Hassat Hunter's advice to install all of the mods that use the TSLPatcher to the TSLRCM folder is both appropriate and required. This would also lead me to recommend downloading M4-78EP as the .exe (in other words, not from Steam Workshop) and direct it to this TSLRCM folder as well... -
KOTOR II Re-Release on STEAM!

KOTOR II Re-Release on STEAM!
Fair Strides replied to zbyl2's topic in Knights of the Old Republic General
I'd still need a way to do that native installer, VP... I don't know how I can make a .app/.apk or whatever it is, and Macs need Crossover or Wine to use .exe files. I'm trying to find a way to make an actual .app/.apk file specifically for the Macs. -

KOTOR II Re-Release on STEAM!
Fair Strides replied to zbyl2's topic in Knights of the Old Republic General
The creator isn't quite gone (I contact them in PMs) and I've gotten the source code for ERFEdit and ChangeEdit from them, so I could probably get TSLPatcher's code... The only thing is, I have no idea how to create Mac's .apk file (or whatever is the Mac equivalent of a .exe file) and given the language their other tools were coded in, it's a shoe-in that TSLPatcher is in Borland's Pascal Delphi, so I'm not sure if I would need to wrap a produced .exe into a .apk or what... If someone could give me a definitive way of making a Mac's .exe, then I can try. -

Voice Actors/Actresses Needed -- Scrapyard Games
Fair Strides replied to Fair Strides's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
For the sake of argument, whichever you prefer (or both), but keep the raw on hand should Quanon or I decide on a filter. -
You'd need to erase the game from your computer and re-download from Steam.

A long time ago back on Lucasforums, over at Holowan Labs, two of the brightest minds in KotOR Modding teamed up on a project called Scrapyard Games. The old fossils among you who remember the project are likely on the edge of your seats, but settle down. This mod was thought up by Quanon and Glovemaster (nowadays known as Groovy Carrot) and was a TSL mod with a simple premise: a bit of fun and sport for those wanting a challenge. This mod has a fun cantina, a big hangar, a GM and an arena. The mod was worked on until both got busy with other things and Glovemaster had to go off to college and was forced to give up modding because of that. I've since been approached to resume work on this mod, so I contacted Quanon to coordinate our efforts between the areas and the content. As it stands, all that is left is a bit of modelling, some minor touch-ups on the content, and then droid audio. That last part is why I'm here... We need some people who would want to do droid audio similar to how M4-78EP's audio was done (real voices with droid filtering/synthesizing applied to them). The dialog isn't gender-specific, so anyone could apply for the following roles: Patrol Guard: Patrols the hangar and cantina and is stationed in the Game Master's Lounge. Acts as both security and information kiosk of sorts. Clipped tone, as though not looking for conversation. Ship Guard: Could be the same audio person as the Patrol Guard. Guards a ship in the hangar and has one or two lines. Bartender: Standard bartender droid offering you drinks. Security Droid: Posted in the cantina. Authoritative tone. Protocol Droid: Same as the Patrol Guard's info, but in a friendlier manner. Game Master: Droid in charge of the Games. They tell you about the game types and are the way to access the games, as well as reports the results after the game. Should you wish to audition, please record the lines below for the part you want and PM the results to me with the words "SG Audition - ", where "" is the name of the droid above. Patrol Guard: "Awaiting query..." "This is the Scrapyard Games Station, in orbit around the Hutt world Nal Hutta." "The requested information has been transferred." Ship Guard: "Back away! This is the Barracuda, property of Scrapyard Station." Bartender: "May I take your order, sir?" "We have Juma Juice for 5 credits." Security Droid: "Watch out." "Don't cause trouble." Protocol Droid: "How may I be of service?" "This is the Scrapyard Station, home of the Scrapyard Games dueling event. We are currently orbiting the Hutt homeworld of Nal Hutta." "To compete in the Games, you need to talk to the Game Master. You can find him in his lounge, through that door in the oorner." Game Master: "You have failed to complete the round." "Ah, it appears we have a new contestant." "Before I can allow you to participate in any of the Scrapyard Games challenges, I must have you sign this contract."

[Help for TSL] Lightsaber Hilt mod flaking out on me
