Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Fair Strides replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Never mind the fact that Milestails probably has the biggest archive... But I've got a spare 1 GB on my Dropbox... -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods

http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=167699 There isn't one here because our sister forum has had an ongoing one for years. -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Fair Strides replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
As has been mentioned already, sending a mod via PMs is perfectly okay. Just no posting links on the forums or status updates to uploads or repositories. Same thing with your signature. And that Viridian Echo-Russian Site example would most likely constitute a legitimate source. -
TSLPatcher Woe: Required dialog.tlk
Fair Strides replied to Hassat Hunter's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Hmm... Could you perhaps PM me the relevant part/whole changes.ini file? I've never encountered a point where it needs a .tlk file, but I might be able to help. -
KotOR Tool is a different beast entirely, but if you're referring to KotOR 1, then try just sending it to your KotOR 2 install.
-
Have you tried restarting your system after you did the Registry edits? And can you tell me the path that you're giving KSE for each game?

http://deadlystream.com/forum/topic/3393-kse-kotor-tool-on-steamdvd/ Also, bear in mind that a 64-bit machine will need the help in post #2.

Not sure what PBCK means, but you are editing the saves and can locate them in your KotOR 2 saves folder, right? Can you post the KSE_Log.txt (as an attachment) and the KSE_Error.txt, as well as the KSE.ini file?

I am FULLY in line with Varsity Puppet's message, Uhuru N'Uru. I thank you very much for your insight and aid, as well as your obvious experience and levelheadedness, which a lot of us (me almost certainly near the front of the line) have temporarily misplaced... -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods

If you sign up for or join something (DS or Steam, for example), you agree to be bound by their rules, which is the exact same as agreeing to obey a law in your city, state/province, or country. Regardless of anyone's financial, sociological, or political (not in the government sense of "political") standing, if Steam has a rule against uploading content without being the author or permission from the author, they have to stick by their rule when it's broken. Otherwise, they will set a precedent that will be all but impossible to get rid of and could eventually ruin their reliability and standing... -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Fair Strides replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
So, images uploaded to a Reddit, gallery, or artistic group aren't freely-distributed among fans of a certain art style or theme? And if I make a mod that uses entirely new audio, textures, dialog, characters, areas, and textures (and create it all on either common software of the media [like Photoshop or Max] or programs that I write myself or were written by someone not affiliated with Bioware, Obsidian Entertainment, Aspyr, LucasArts, or Disney), you're saying that I can't claim my creation as mine? -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Fair Strides replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
If it was indeed understood, we wouldn't still have people saying, "But why can't we upload mods that aren't ours? Oh, and the author's read-me said 'No'..." -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Fair Strides replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
To put it quite simply and in as clear a way as possible... We do not steal others' work, we do not go behind their backs or against their wishes, we respect them and their right to what they do with their things, and we absolutely will not go back on our principles of upholding a standard and code of conduct in how we handle ourselves or treat our community. -
Voice Actors/Actresses Needed -- Scrapyard Games
Fair Strides replied to Fair Strides's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I'm sorry, but it seems that I have my slots filled, at least so far. tjase will be handling the bartender and a protocol droid, and Rece will be doing the security droids and the Baracuda Guard. And we have a female lined up as well (hopefully that one works out.). If you're female, would you perhaps try the Game Master's lines? An extra line: "By signing this contract I am acknowledging that Scrapyard Games is not responsible for any loss of limb or motor; life or battery; for organics, any psychological damage; and for droids, any damage to their core or other central processing unit, memory core or behaviour core." -

So it's a stupid rule to respect others' decisions and wishes, and to make sure someone doesn't try to claim stuff that isn't theirs? Right... Honestly, I would, but I've been banned from the comments... -

He seems to be of the opinion, "It's not on the Workshop! It should be there, so I must put it there!" -

Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Fair Strides replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Well, my two cents and best bet would be the way they treated HH's (the AUTHOR'S) request to take the mod down since no permission was requested, granted, or even accredited. Then the uploader said, "No!"... -

I have no idea... I'd asked Sith Specter to change the thread name, since I'm not a moderator (though I seem to have some moderator privileges...), but that's all that should have been done... -

There you go, Hassat. Commented and reported for outright theft. The irony? The uploader says this: "NOT MY MOD! ALL RIGHTS BELONG TO ORIGNAL OWNER. IF YOU ARE THE OWNER OF THIS CONTENT AND YOU WANT IT REMOVED PLEASE CONTACT ME." But then refuses to remove it... -

Fair Strides replied to zbyl2's topic in Knights of the Old Republic General
I would like to add Darth 333's EZ Swoops mod to that list, but can't get a link right now.
