    • Dodecahedron. I really hate that thing. I want to make it a sphere or I dunno, just something different. I was so difficult to figure out how to reskin it before. There would be so much more I could do with a different shape. At the very least it’s been given a new UV map.
      • Progressive: Play around with some transparency ideas.

I like that idea too- to make it a sphere? Yes!

Actually, here's an idea- but do not know if it's possible and plot-legitimate or not.

IF- you decided to make it a sphere; then could it be possible to make it a "CM_Baremetal"-ed golden sphere? [Attached is a rough-visualization of how the idea looks like].

Note: So far, I am impressed with how the Star Map Revamp 1.1 looked like. And I can't thank you more if you decided to give it more lift.

May the Force be with you CO!

  2. Another update here: a "beta" result of an attempt to mix UnusualCharacters' submitted voice to make it sounds like Darth Revan like the one in SW:ToR. Now this one is voice only preview, while the former has background music playing- as Sith Holocron suggested, I am taking them off. This is as far as I can go right now with the attempt but actually is pleased with the end-result. As time goes by- and some tutorials dive-in , I'll try to figure out how to do it legitimately.

Note: If you hear some clip and noises coming from the voice- those were intended. Referring to the Republic Shadow of Revan Ending; when Revan speaks, it produce some noises like a broken microphone or something I haven't figured out 100%. I am certain my execution is not as smooth as the reference there, but self-assured it is on the right track.

At last, any constructive questions and feedbacks is very much appreciated!

    [K1] T3-M4 Custom Portrait

This is a T3-M4 custom portrait mod.

The concept is much inspired by "Artistic Fanart Portraits [K1]", authored by Mutilator57.

Base image was taken from here, with some edits then adding background for artistry purpose to better suit the playthrough experience.

There's always room for improvements - critiques, comments, suggestions, questions and feedbacks for the next update are much appreciated - PM, write them on my feed or leave any on the mod's page as you please. And thank you! for downloading, and playing this mod.

Hope you enjoy the mod as much as I do!

Installation: run the installer [TSLPatcher.exe] then hit the [Install Mod ->] button!

    • You may want to remove any instance of TGA/DDS format of PO_pt3m3 in the 'Override', either before/after the installation. Make a backup if you want to

Uninstallation: remove PO_pt3m3.tpc from the 'Override' and/or replace with the backup ones

Compatibility: will not be compatible with mods that share the same scope with this mod

This mod will have direct effect anytime and anywhere it had been installed

The mod was play-tested with KotOR 1 Restoration/K1R and K1:Community Patch/K1CP installed and is compatible with them

Redistribution: you may distribute the mod; just don't claim it as your own, and give credits where it's due. At last, leave appreciation to BioWare & LucasArts with any inclusion of the assets. An appreciation to this lil' peasant's work here is also a very warm welcome, welcome.

Seriously, ebmar, you must have spent hours getting those two effects down, but it was worth it! Congrats on getting the role!

Nice work on the Malak filter too, ebmar!

Fortunately Mellowtron11, I already got the vision of "what I must do on this occasion" which helped me a lot in that attempt.

For comparison, while ago I looked at Darth Varkor's "SW:KotOR - The Lost Masters Movie" on Youtube and there was this alien with very weird voicing.

IF- I have to do filters similar to that alien; Wow. I don't know, maybe it would take forever I'd supposed 😂

And yes, it was worth it! I learned a lot from doing this attempt which I believe will do me good because doing audio-visual stuffs is my passion.

Thank you for the kind words Mellowtron11 & DarthVarkor- very much appreciated them; some motivation for me also there

Not quite sure I get your meaning, the voice at 9:09 is definitely Revan speaking, but I think you're saying that it doesn't sound like it's coming from the mask but rather a result of the large room?

Yes, that's what I mean! Haha, I'm sorry if my words got you all confused 🙃

I already look at the latest attached video. And now I am certain it is some cuts to the lower frequencies and I think this one is essential too; set the output to mono maybe? 🤔

Edit: Okay, after further review of Revan's voice in the video you just attached- filters are needed. My bad! And I think it's compression filter that would do some work there.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a filter that will create a vocal effect similar to the one used on Revan's mask in the Old Republic.

I'm not sure that those filters starting from 9:09 was meant to be the Revan's voice. What I'm trying to say, doesn't it sounds more like reverb-ambient that supposed to be produced if someone behind a mask talking in a room or an auditorium?

I doubt if Revan was speaking outdoor-for example; in a desert, would produce the same result. That was just me thinking.

But speaking of the filter that will create a vocal effect similar to the one used on Revan's mask in this video; it would be "room reverb"- and some cut to the low frequencies too.

How much? I don't really know as I don't have legitimate knowledge in regards to sound engineering 😅

So . . . I crashed about 6 hours ago and I awoke to a flurry of activity on this thread.

    1) Ezer Arden as performed by mrmann has been approved by Newbiemodder. Congrats to mrmann!  This now shall now be considered as filled and will be struck-through accordingly. mrmann, please forward the lines to me via PM ASAP.

    2) ebmar,  I really like that Darth Malak voice effect.  Bravo!  I have saved the sound file you sent me via PM to my work folder.  Might I suggest posting a tutorial  for the Darth Malak voice filter in the Tutorials section?

    3) UnusualCharacter's and LiliArch's submissions sound files have saved to the work folder for review later.  That is, I will listen to the submissions later today but Newbiemodder will listen submissions later this week.

Thanks for everyone's interest in this project!

Congrats mrmann! And thank you SH, it is my pleasure to be involved in this project

Thank you for suggesting me to post a tutorial for the Darth Malak's voice filter. I'm taking it into consideration; as I have to gather all materials needed for the tutorial.

As for UnusualCharacter and LiliArch, I am looking forward to hearing your voices in-game! Soon as I get this seems-like-forever KotOR playthrough done 💀

  8. 4 hours ago, DarthParametric said:

Thanks, I think that could probably work. I'll test it out in-game when I get the chance. You think you could do a version in reverse for the retraction?

My pleasure DP! Yes, forgot to mention that is the extended part. I already have the plan for the retraction part so, I think I could pulled it off; only hope it would not be a mess then 😂

Note there's a flickering sound if you wonder what that is [that one as close as I can get to a unique flickering sound- doing it from scratch] 🙃

I'll reach out again soon

what program did you use and what effects and filters were used? just curious

I use FL Studio 12 Producer Edition to be specific. There are 2 effects and/or filters I am using; first is Vocodex and second is "Hardcore" modulator.

I'd say lots of tweaking had been done to both plug-ins, but the vocal point of this attempt is: Using multiple layers of vanilla Malak's voice.

  10. 55 minutes ago, Malkior said:

First of all, that is an amazing auditory likeness to Malak!

That said, it sounds a bit like  Vanilla Malak has another voice mixed in with his which makes it a bit distorted.

A possible way to fix it or mitigate that distortion could be done by trimming some of the mid 200 hertz range or boosting more of the higher freqencies via an EQ filter in Audacity (or Frootyloops if it has one. ) If you send me the files, I can try doing that for you if you like.

Wow that was some insights there Malkior; thanks for sharing!

And yes, after I do a preview test it really sounds that the vanilla Darth Malak's voice has a little bit of-or much "low-mid rattling" frequencies in his voice. Some modulation tweak maybe?

I already put a modulation filter there but decided to keep it low.

Would you like me to send the file to you or let SH do it? And which one do you need; the vanilla or the filtered one?

And thank you for your appreciation- some motivation for me there 😁

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how to do a Darth Malak filter?  We'll be needing one . . . for Darth Malak.

A preview of an as-close-as-it-could-gets attempt to filter Malak voice to sounds like Darth Malak in KotOR. Keep in mind that this is not my voice 😂

I got the file from SH while ago & have a get go with this attempt.

Sounds like the voice of Darth Malak in KotOR has multiple layer on his track; I decided to go with two layers and do some edits to them with this result.

The program I am using is Fruity Loops.

Any constructive feedbacks and/or questions are very much appreciated!

Yeah looks to be mono PCM 16bit 22050Hz 352kbps.

Ha! here it is DP; my attempt to do custom SFX for your custom blaster. I have no idea how it's going to be as it's not beta tested yet 😂 [but I am certain this file's going to work in-game].

Note that it is not exactly at 352kbps- it's 705kbps instead. But I am sure there would be no a problem at all because in my current KotOR playthrough, I am using some customized .WAV that rated at 705kbps and they worked just fine.

Looking forward for some feedbacks 😂

Knock yourself out. I'm not really sure what the sound should be, but some sort of metallic clunk or snik that a piece of metal being extended and retracted would make I guess. The most important thing would be that it is not too obnoxious, seeing as you will hear it every combat.

Okay I'll see what I can do. And if it's done, what format should it be then? Is it the same as any action .WAV which should be in mono?

  14. 21 minutes ago, DarthParametric said:

Has anyone got any ideas on existing sounds (in both games) that I could repurpose, or something from some free/open source sound library? I guess it doesn't strictly need SFX, but I figured it would be a nice extra.

Would you mind if I tried to make you one? This intrigues me 😀

I was going to splice some lines, but failed at the ”decompress” step, since... you know, ”not saving” and all that.

There was this trick, and it works for me. But first of all, the program I am using on this process is Fruity Loops. I don't know if Audacity, Cubase or elses would do. The point is, you could actually edit the vanilla ".WAV" without having it decompressed by Miles' and then convert and saving again; all like a charm.

First, copy the file that you want to work on and then paste it to a brand new folder. Second, change the file [the one that you paste to the new folder] extension from .WAV to .MP3.

Third, you could just drag-and-drop the .MP3 file to the track section of the program you were using [in this case I am using Fruity Loops]. Fourth and final step; do what you want, and then you could just save and convert the project either to .MP3 or .WAV.

As if quoted from ndix UR; "working in lossless and exporting to lossy is just a general best practice". This process doesn't seem to work like one unfortunately 🤔

Hope this works for you, and/or everyone reading it

Does anyone have Miles Sound Tool that would work on something newer than XP, though?

Unfortunately I don't Lili. But I just figured something out while ago 😁 Hope I'm not talking out of topic right now but, did you try to edit and/or add filters to vanilla sounds Lili?

  17. 8 hours ago, jc2 said:

Okay, this site is woah. Anyways, ebmar you need Miles Sound Tool, which used to be freeware.

I've found a reddit post that explains how you'd do it. >

I meant to leave it as a link, but this update has me confused. Nevertheless, once you've done all that has been said to do in that reddit, you can then use any audio editing software like audacity to edit the audio in whatever way you'd like.

Thanks for sharing jc2! I'll check them out soon as I am sure there are lots of things could be done with its guidance then 😉

And you were right, this site is really something now 👽

I'm going to update this topic in regards of progress I'm currently doing now if you guys don't mind.

And once again, a big THANKS to you all!

  18. Is it possible to edit and/or add filters to vanilla .WAV?

What I'm trying to do; I am looking to edit & add filters to "nm27aasith07002_"- it is a .WAV file located in the streamwaves folder. The problem occured; when I played the file on any media player, it only buzzed and no voice line to be heard of. And when I put the file to any audio-editing software available, there is no wave to edit to.

Any constructive feedback is very much appreciated- Thanks!

  19. Hi CO, congratulations on reaching phase 2.0 of your 'Star Map Revamp'!

I've got an idea that may be possible to pull off but I'm not sure if it's scientifically legit or no and/or out of a Star Map concept in the first place.

    Here's what I am thinkin':

    jrbi1j.jpg

This is my in-game screenshot of your 'Star Map Revamp 1.1'- isn't she lovely?

How about adding revolving planets, as they appear in Galaxy Map?

I don't know if it's already on your 2.0 master-plan as I am sure a 2.0 offer major differences compared to the former.
