  1. I'm not allowed to release plot details, screenshots, videos or any other game's assets or info about unannounced features/locations, etc. into the web. I'm allowed to publicly comment on things that have already been announced (such as VO, LS/DS points, some planets etc, so the stuff I've been talking about). And I mostly just said whether I like something or not, I would go into much more details on things if I could. I guess you could say I probably violated NDA when giving example of poorly given LS/DS points, and I shouldn't talk about some of bugs I mentioned, but I've seen testers post much worse. There are a lot of things I'd like to talk about that I'm not posting about, some bad some good. But I know it's something to discuss when game is available to everyone.
  2. Third day of TOR playing. Complaining ahead Haven't played all that much today though; for one thing, servers were down "for maintenance" for most of a day, for another I'm getting bored of it already. Although that might be because I changed character. Some servers in game are for weekend testing only, there are far less now in weekdays... I didn't know which servers are which when I first logged in though, and I created my Jedi Knight on such weekend server, and now he's lost. I'm hoping to get him back next week, but I don't have my hopes up. So anyway, I had to create new character. And I didn't want to replay same thing I've been playing for previous 48 hours, so I went for the Empire this time and choose Imperial Agent as my class. It sounded like a cool class. Compared to others anyway. It's not. Fighting with lightsaber in TOR is so much better than blasters. More skills, more variety, everything about lightsaber is more entertaining. The whole cover system Agents have is also hard to get used to and it doesn't work as well as it should, and I doubt they'll improve it enough in time for game's release. There is also lot of walkmesh (or whatever it's called in TOR) issues all over Hutta. You can walk and shoot trough rocks and flowers, and sometimes walls. I submitted it as a bug report, so hopefully at least that will be fixed, but it worries me to see such bugs so late in beta. Imperial Agent's story is also worse than Jedi Knight's, from what I've seen of agent's story anyway. While Jedi's was rather entertaining from the beginning, Agent's one is a bit dull. And the VO! I'm playing female character this time, and my character's voice is the worst of them all. It's really putting me off the experience. Voice doesn't fit character at all and worse, it's really badly acted. I mean realllly. Might be one reason why it's so hard to enjoy a plot. Nar Shaddaa visible in the sky above Hutta is rather amazing visually, though. Anyway, ignoring the Agent class itself and moving on to more overall stuff. One thing I forgot to mention before - it's an MMO, but I feel like I'm playing single player game for most of a time (which in my case is good, 'cause I'm not big fan of other people being in my game). I switched chat off and don't talk to others, when I see another player I disregard him as NPC. And that's actually pretty cool way to think of them. Then I can think how cool it is to finally see NPC Jedis helping me do stuff ;P OK, there was only one time when I talked to another player, but I just needed help on a quest. There are those types of quests - called "heroic" and "flashpoints". Game will let you go ahead and do them alone, but trust me, you won't finish them. I tried, really tried. I died every time. I just had to team up with another player to finish heroic quest, and we barely managed when there was two of us. I still need to try out some flashpoint, when I'll be able to go with 5 other players, and we'll have multi player conversation thingy. I'd like to see it in action, as I still don't exactly understand how it works. Another really sucky thing about writing: there are some instances when NPCs you meet say how "rarely they see Jedi around this parts". But 95% of players are Jedi, so I can see tens of them around. Some could say "that's the problem with writing for MMO", I say, "what the hell is that line in there for?". Since I'm covering writing, another thing I dislike is how some plot elements just don't make freaking sense unless you do side quests. Some really major stuff is explained trough side quests. Which wouldn't be all that bad if not for the fact those side quests are terrible. And one last thing I noticed about quests - the more annoying quest giver is, the better items you get out of it. Really, all the best items I got are from quests given to me by NPCs so badly/irritatingly written and/or voiced I wanted to skip trough their dialogs as fast as possible. And last interesting thing, which I've already mentioned elsewhere on forums - I lol'ed when I've seen a droid called M-78. Wonder if whoever came up with this name thought of M4-78 or was it just accident. I think that is all I wanted to say... yes, I think that's enough complaining for one night.
  3. On Hutta in TOR, there's droid called M-78. It was funny to see after few hours of playing M4-78EP.

Statement: Ah. I was on Bondar Crystal server, weekend only. I'll be back on it again this weekend too. I'm playing as a Sith Warrior Juggernaut A.C. named Crunchbuttsteak (MST3K reference). It would be nice to do the full beta play, but I think the wait will make the game more exciting to play.

u guys are lucky to be playing it now.

and zbyl, i know there are bigger problems, but it just bothers me lol.

@hkmandalore47, have you signed up for beta? Pretty much everyone who did is going to be getting it on at least 1 November weekend.

@HK-47, I could go to your server next weekend and we could team up for some flashpoint (unless I can get my Jedi back, then I'm playing him ;p). I'll probably be sick of Imperial Agent by then (check out "Release Date Debate" in TOR section for why).

  4. Not a big fan of MMOs either but all right, I'll admit, I enjoyed last two days of playing TOR almost non-stop... but I'd still say side quest sucked because they were so badly thought out and repetitive. Travelling around Coruscant also used to be fun at first, when I was just watching visuals and thinking "oh that's awesome. that really is Coruscant", but then it got boring because it just takes too long. There's this "fast travel" skill which is handy, but it's got cooldown time of 30 minutes... meaning you can only use it once every 30 minutes. And it has its issues too, but I won't talk about that now. And I think I haven't mentioned LS/DS points yet. That's done pretty badly too. I don't like how you know which answer give you LS/DS points before you choose it. I also disagree bout what they're given for - I mean, getting DS points for stealing data to blackmail senator who wanted to separate Republic and the Jedi, and make peace with the Empire instead? Yet telling on two Jedi who are in love, and thus getting them probably kicked out of the Order (can't say for sure, choose another option) is LS? And there are some other arguably cases here, but I think those were enough of spoilers as it is... I'm not exactly supposed to talk about it.
  5. Indeed, it's a stress test, but it runs quite smoothly for me. I recall next to no lags, and only time it crashed for me was when I lost internet connection, so it's my fault not game's servers. And they're planning even bigger stress test next week from what I've gathered. The word is they're going to invite everyone who signed up before last Friday.
  6. Another server maintenance (you'd think after all this time they wouldn't have to do it twice a day anymore), meaning another random TOR related post from me... I finished my first planet, Tython. While main quest is pretty good (bar some terrible dialog lines and already mentioned bad VOs... and some other parts of it), side quests are terrible. Boring and uninteresting "go there, tell him that, get back here, oh and you could kill that too". Usually it's about stuff NPCs could do themselves, which just makes it worse and even less believably. But Coruscant is bloody fantastic. Well, I still hate how it look exactly the same like it did in the movies, but it's amazing visually and it's cool to walk around... and flying a speeder around these high buildings is just fun to watch. It's just visuals though, other stuff doesn't get any better. And whole city is so big it's kind of overwhelming right now, especially since I've already got like, what, 7 new quests? And I just landed. By the way, Stoney and Tyvokka, what servers are you guys playing on, and what classes? Would be awesome to do some flashpoint with you guys ;P
  7. Apparently server I'm playing on is scheduled for maintenance... well, NOW, so I've got some time to post my impressions. Although it might be back up by now, I've no idea how long maintenance takes. Never mind. Lets talk about beta. I won't talk about mechanics (all that much) as it's not exactly what I'm interested in, instead I'll focus on plot and other good stuff like that. Without going into too much details though, as I can't exactly give you beta spoilers, as per agreement with Bioware and all that. I haven't gotten into all the KotOR related stuff, so I can't talk about that yet. But I'm still mad at Bioware for what they've done to Revan. Anyway, onto the game now. I'm level 7 Jedi Knight right now and I haven't finished my first planet yet... so how is it? Better than I expected. To be honest, I expected complete garbage and it's not *that* bad. I'm enjoying the prologue so far, sure it's got some cliche characters and some Bioware style dialogs that makes you want to stop playing, but there are some pretty good dialogs too. Nothing amazing, but pretty good. Voice acting is the worst part about it all, though. Only good VO I've seen so far was Satele Shan (same actress as Bastila), other than that they're average or worse. Main character's voice is terrible. BTW, talking of dialogs, there is this one Satele's line I really liked: "The Jedi Code is the source of strength, but the backup never hurts". Jennifer Hale delivered line well enough for me to like it. Next thing, locations. I expected some uninteresting, linear, Mass Effect style environments, but it's better than that (so far anyway). Tython is pretty big and I actually managed to get lost few times already. And the Jedi Temple is rather amazing, I must admit, it's really big and it has the Coruscant's Temple feel we all know from the movies. Respawning enemies in some places are an annoyance though. There was this one place, especially, where one group of enemies would respawn during my fight with another group, which would be too much for me to handle. Fortunately I met this nice Jedi Consular who helped me get trough that part alive. It's a beta though so that's understandable. Overall, it has some strong points, but it also has its weaknesses... some bad dialogs, voice acting and such. I won't be buying a game myself (but that much I knew before I even begun playing). It's slightly better than what I expected, though. Anyway, gonna go back, see if server's back up ;] Any questions you've got, ask, I'll try to answer if I can.
  8. I got beta invite as well, although why, I have no idea I'll probably be playing this thing all night...
  9. It was nice M4-78 evening for me :)

@SH I'll PM you in next few days if you can wait ;) You're probably going to like what I've got to say, update-wise.

  10. Yes, give us screenshots! We love screenshots.
  11. "I'll delete co-ordinates to M4-78 off this pad, to make sure no one follows us". And it wasn't me saying that ;p
  12. Progress Report #4 First official M4-78EP promo. As for progress goes, around 90% of the planet's main quest is done, and beta will start sometime this month.

    Update on 1.8

My Kreia's Fall in game scene doesn't have proper sound effects, so it won't be included. I never heard of Darth Pavel before (didn't even know anyone attempted such mod before me), but we can't include his files in TSLRCM without his permission anyway. So unless someone comes up with proper sound effects I can actually use (compare two youtube videos - which Sith Holocron linked to - to see what's needed), it will not be included in TSLRCM.
  14. Jinger's rebuilt Jedi Enclave is included in TSLRCM.
  15. my new graphic card, KotOR and FRAPS don't like each other.

Is your FRAPS updated to the latest version?

    2. zbyl2

      zbyl2

Honestly I don't know what version it is, I know it works fine with pretty much any other game I tested, and I tested it on games with really good graphics. It's KotOR that lags when I try to record. And it worked fine before I upgraded my computer, you'd think it'd work just as well on a better hardware, eh?

Might try out x-fire, thanks for suggestion.

By updating FRAPS, it may be able to better to adapt to your newer system. But good luck with Xfire. IIRC, I thought I've heard good thing about Camtasia as well.

  16. This discussion is going nowhere. TSLRCM will NOT be separated into smaller mods, restored content (such as Kaevee) will NOT be removed. I'm having hard enough times putting together 1.8's installer as it is - because it actually feels like making six separate installers already, one for each language version. "You want part of a mod out - mod it out". Well said. Simple as that. Nothing else you can do about it and nothing anyone is going to say will change my mind. Thread locked. Move along.
  17. Impossible, converter must work with every .mod, .dlg and utc/uti files there are. There should be files called ***COR.mod in your MODULES folder - they are the ones you'd need to convert.
  18. That's the problem It's common problem with non-english KotORs and mods. Check out the Tools section at StarWarsKnight.com site - there's a tool called language converter there - use it to convert Coruscant's mod files and it should fix that.
  19. If you want to do anything Kattar-related, I suggest you look for Unseen, Unheard comic, if you haven't read it already - it's 6-page long, and it's about destruction of Kattar. And it's bloody brilliant, too
  20. Changed to "Which of the following Sith Lords does not posses a tomb on Korriban?" for 1.8.
  21. Hey;

Not sure what happened, can't download it either. Could you re-submit the file?

    Update on 1.8

Which actually is "UT_AdjustCharacterAlignment(oTarget, SW_CONSTANT_DARK_HIT_LOW);", according to k_inc_utility.nss. Now UT_AdjustCharacterAlignment is more interesting, but I still can't see anything about sound effect in there so I have no idea where that comes from. I'll post whole thing here anyway in case I'm blind and someone else see anything interesting.
  23. Just finished whole demo-beta thing. I wasn't making any notes while playing, so I'll just list some random things off the top of my head. There are some plot related things which I don't like but I won't list them here, as requested; I'll PM them to you, Logan, sometime soon. Anyway: * Totally love cantina music. * "You're never gonna leave this planet. You should just get drunk with Correlian Ale". Great line. * Overall, NPCs in cantina were pretty good. * There was this one time I got Force Perusade option, even though I don't have this power. * There were some conversation loops, meaning I got the same dialog over and over again when I restarted convo, which is NOT good. * I've got some item with no name nor description, and I think it's been in my inventory since the very beginning. * Republic soldier in Correlian jungle told me to talk to Bao-Dur; then he said that again and again, even though I already talked to Bao-Dur. * Near the temple-like thing, Drayen's line about "them overwhelming us with numbers" doesn't make sense until you see more assassins that are... down there, and you don't see them when line is being spoken. * I feel there weren't enough conversations in Correlian base. Most NPCs had just one line, while it seems like a good place to have all kind of soldiers with different personalities, views etc. * Also, said base had map note mentioning Kex. * Not sure how the effect when speaking to Master Drayen's ghost was done, but it was rather amazing. * Serious bug: when fighting Jedi that's supposed to escort us to Coruscant, dialog starts after convo, but then it breaks because republic soldiers are still hostile, which basically makes you stuck. * It ended just when it was getting interesting. I hate you for that I remember anything more, I'll post it. Or just include in PM I'm supposed to send anyway.
