Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
VarsityPuppet replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Actually, looks like he signed up roughly around the Re-release. Presumably, to download mods? -
His eyebrows look a little on the angry side. If you can nail down Ewan McGregor's eyebrows, I think you'll be pretty close

Even if doesn't look a whole lot like him, this is a pretty unique-looking face. Well done!

Has he just been harassing you, Hassat through PMs? Pretty immature... I did watch one of his Kotor Let's Plays. They're honestly not bad, but I guess not really that good either. -
Seriously? Are these fully animated and everything?

Kick 'em while they're down, I say! But it would be harassment to go and try to start something with him on Youtube. We should focus on protecting the interests of DS and modders from the community. -

Professor Shroom Youtube Admittedly, it is nice to see the game getting a some Lets Play attention. Seems silly to do it without an insane amount of mods though. I've always wanted to do a run through of the HK factory and do a commentary though. -
Layman's terms, Windows suuuuuuuucks! I know, that wasn't very helpful. Windows 10 was just released though. I'd be surprised if anyone has a solution yet.

Really? What a dickhead. Well, we'll be around to crush him a second time if he does. I also found his Youtube channel (he's a Let's player) so I'll see if he mentions anything about Steam in his next TSL video. Interesting his selective deletion of comments, though. -
File Name: Side Opening Doors on Malachor File Submitter: VarsityPuppet File Submitted: 02 Aug 2015 File Category: Mods TSLRCM Compatible: Yes This is a left over asset from the now defunct Malachor VI. It doesn't really do anything except change the direction in which the doors on Malachor open. Previously, they open from the top, but the design suggested they open sideways. (See screenshots) Install: Throw in your override Uninstall: Take out of the override Credits: TK102 for Mdlops Bead-V for sound clip + concept Permissions: Don't upload without my permission Click here to download this file

Very insightful. Genuinely, thank you for posting. We certainly could benefit from teaming up with other modding communities, it seems. -

Hahahaha that's some imaginative speculation there. Care to elaborate more on this? Whose ego is getting stroked here? Please, entertain me. -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
VarsityPuppet replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
It doesn't seem bizarre to me. Then again, I don't really have any mods that I'm in danger of losing access to mods, so I guess this doesn't apply to me. First, Welcome to DeadlyStream. It's quite a long walk coming from the Steam forums. You must be exhausted! Please, sit down Secondly, not advocating the upload of mods anywhere. Download them, save them for yourself. Even if there was, hypothetically, another site to upload these old mods, it would inherently be 1,000x better than Steam because you would have to install them the way they were meant to be installed (with the TSLPatcher). Also, you wouldn't have people like ProfessorShroom hijacking mods out from underneath existing, active authors, essentially making a disclaimer like that meaningless -

As far as mods going out of style, there's nothing wrong with preserving them. It needs to be done privately, not by uploading to an existing mod-hosting site. -

Looks good, only suggestion I would make is to move that to the top. UPDATE on the thread: -

Ah yeah.. good point. :/ Though I guess in all fairness, Hassat Hunter hasn't been banned either, has he? -

Nice work, my friend! I wonder how long it will take until I'm out though. I suppose it's interesting that I haven't been banned yet. Maybe I have some clout as a contributor to RCM? idk.. I almost want to upload my own, better version of the mod (with Hassat Hunter's permission) to undercut this sneaky a-hole -

I suppose it's only a matter of time for me Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Thinking something is stupid isn't going to change the rules though. -

Enough flags on it, maybe something happens? I think your only choice, Hassat Hunter, is to upload the mod yourself. Then you can force him to make good on his disclaimer and take down the mod. He certainly can't say "Well I uploaded your mod first, so you need to take yours down." Can he? Since it is Steam though, I'm inclined to think that they don't care... Or give someone else the permission to do so? Idk. -
