The KotOR 1 Restoration Mod is an attempt to restore almost all the content that was cut from the game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic by BioWare Corp. Of course, these restorations will be within reason and things that were cut because they did not fit with the plot, and cannot be made to fit with the plot, will most definitley NOT be restored.

» INSTALLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An installation which involves the TSL Patcher has been made ready for your use and is the simplest and easiest way to carry out installation.

 

Alternatively, a secondary installer has been made for convenience. It will not patch the files like the TSL Patcher will, but it should be less of a headache for most users. HOWEVER, IT WILL NEED TO BE INSTALLED BEFORE ANY OTHER MODS!!!

 

Note: The K1R team is not responsible for any incompatibility issues that may arise from the use of this mod in conjunction with other mods. Also, in order to provide the best feedback for us we recommend that you play K1R with NO other mods installed.

 

Note 2: If using the TSL Patcher AND your game is in English, before installing, copy the dialog.tlk file bundled with this package into the KotOR directory. This will give you the grammar and typo fixes to the vanilla text.

1) Double click K1R_1.2_Installer.exe found in the main directory of the unpacked folder.
2) Click the button labeled Install Mod.
3) Click yes to the box that'll pop up... if you wish to proceed with installation.
4) Watch as all the little file names and progress reports scroll by and wait until the installer is complete.

Before I download this, is this mod still compatible with Lightsaber and Force Forms by Insidious? Also, is it compatible with NPC Overhaul?

Hey, I couldn't get the launcher to run on Mac, even when using crossover. I've moved all the files manually, but I can't seem to find a launcher folder for the files listed in step #4. Any idea where that might be? Thanks so much.

I believe the Dantooine murder quest is still bugged.  There aren't any dialogue options to figure out the motive behind the murder.  I can get past the first part, with the one guy lying because he said it was sunny but it was actually cloudy, but that's as far as it goes.

I've run into a sort of a problem - when I'm doing sidequest on Dantooine, I was about to kill a group of Duros and Mando who has just killed some poor man. Yet, before he finishes the last sentence, he start's shooting at Iriaz and since he doesn't finish the line, he stays friendly and I can't attack him. Also, if I don't kill this group the leader won't show up so it kills the entire quest :/
Any ideas?

Is there a way just to get Iriaz but nothing else? I want to replay the game heavily modded but also don't want to hurt the vanilla atmosphere too much, so Iriaz standalone would be very appreciated.

so far i thimk the mod will be ok but i have not gotten to the add-on content yet so i dont know, however since i am running in linux under wine it does not want to play nice with dds textures. several of the mods i have installed were packaged with dds textures that throw up errors in K1 during play, so i find alternatives or revert back to a tga file that is decent quality. many modders tell gamers to convert the files to tga format, but all attempts i have made to do so are unsuccessful. none of the converters are going to work in linux or wine. they all say invalid dds format. xnview, gimp, all of them. no matter what i do, and even several of the improved tga files i have to replace with working ones since they throw up flags in the native linux tga viewer and in the game as well. would it be too much trouble to offer a zip file with just the dds converted to tga already for those of us having issues with dds files? specifucally the pazaak hologram textures. they are deleted from my override and copies are saved in a file called "invalid dds files" in case i ever do find a way to convert them. but so far like i said it has not worked. has to be a valid dds to begin with.

Can this mod cause the glitch at the start of Leivathan?

 

When I finish Mannan and set course anywhere (Yavin, Korriban), the Leviathan hauls me but when the conversation has to start (who to choose to save PC), Bastila says: "This isn't over, Malak!" and all of the crew are in central room, with me, and I cannot leave EH. Normal conversations (except Canderous and Juhani) and nothing I could use.

 

Any help?

You likely have a file called "lev40_carth.dlg" in the override folder. This needs to be erased, and is not part of K1R.

Im having problems in the Vulkar base. i destroyed the strongbox I wa supposed to open before I ever got the card. I now can't access it. What variables in the Save game editor can I use to restore it?

Just out of curiousity if anyone else is having this issue:

When talking to Ajuur in the Taris Duel Arena and trying to start my first duel he just randomly ends the dialogue after telling me about no one having died due to medic droids being around (right before you'd usually get to try the futile persuasion-attemt against him to ask for a bigger cut). The dialogue just ends and talking to him again starts it over just to have it end at the exact same line. It's not that I have the wrong kind of weapon equipped as I have tried with 2 vibroblades, 1 vibroblade, 2 regular blasters, 1 regular blaster and Carths Blaster and the only other mods installed are:

 

- NPC Overhaul (installed prior to K1R just like it's pointed out in this mods description)

- Bastilla on Korriban - K1R Version (obviously installed after K1R

- and texture overhauls that don't actually touch any scripts or dialogue

 

Is anyone else experiencing this?

 

PS: While searching the internet checking if this bug might have been caused by something else I did come across a steam guide for this very mod ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=367236856 ) which links to a mod called "Taris Dueling Ring Fix", however said fix doesn't seem to be online anymore.

Correction: It was a Mandalorian Armor retexture that was causing the issue. Sorry for barking up the wrong tree and thanks for this amazing mod :)

When I try to open it says it is damaged and cannot be opened. Tried with 7Zip, 9Zip, and OPener Pro. All the same result. Using windows 10 but i don't think that would be the problem.
Any chance of a solution?

While I find it odd that you reported it two days before you commented about it, I'll say that I just downloaded it less than 10 minutes ago and then extracted using 7zip.

 

It could be that you got an impartial download...

Okay, this is weird and I'm not sure if it's come up already or not, but anyway: I'm on a 64-bit Windows 7 and when I try running the Installer I can't get it to work because it's supposedly incompatible with my version of the system (as if the Installer only worked for the 32-bit version). The Installer also didn't extract to a destination folder with the rest of the files (I'm using ALZip); I had to manually drag and drop just the .exe, and I'm not getting the TSL Installer icon, either. Also of note: I tried extracting the remaining files in the first place, because I couldn't even drag and drop them together with the Installer. This is the first time I'm experiencing something like this, all the other mods with TSL Patcher I've ever used have worked for me just fine. Any ideas?
