A KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II: THE SITH LORDS MODIFICATION

1. DESCRIPTION:

This mod allows the player to recruit both Handmaiden and Disciple in the same playthrough regardless of the player character's gender.

After Disciple joins your party on Dantooine, a usable adrenal item named PartySwap will be added to your inventory. You can use this PartySwap item to replace any member of the current party with Handmaiden, as long as you are able to choose your party at that point of the game. This item is created to work around the limitations of not being able to select Handmaiden from the party selection screen after Disciple joins your party and takes Handmaiden’s slot in the party selection screen. However, Handmaiden remains still one of your party members, and you can still talk to Handmaiden.

This mod also modifies certain parts of the game where potentially both Handmaiden and Disciple can become involved in the cut scenes. In addition, this mod prevents Handmaiden and Disciple from referring to the player character with the wrong pronouns by editing dialog and splicing voiceovers.

For this mod to take effect, you must install this mod before you leave the secret academy on Telos, where Handmaiden joins your party. The PartySwap item only works if Handmaiden has already joined your party.

NOTE: Since July 2023, the original mod author DarthTyren has officially handed over the management and development of this mod to Leilukin, due to DarthTyren's departure from the KotOR modding scene. Therefore, if you have questions about or encountered any issues with this mod, Leilukin is the one to contact for.

2. INSTALLATION:

First and foremost, make sure you have The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM) installed, since TSLRCM is REQUIRED for this mod to work.

After downloading this mod, extract the mod’s 7z file to anywhere you like, as long as it is not within the KotOR 2 directory.

Run PartySwap Installer.exe located inside the extracted folder. You will see two installation options. You may only choose ONE of these options:

  • Default Installation: Choose this option if you use TSLRCM without M4-78EP.
  • M4-78EP Installation: Choose this option if you use M4-78 Enhancement Project (M4-78EP) in addition to TSLRCM. You must install M4-78EP first before running this installation option.

FOR REGULAR TSLRCM USERS:

Choose the installation option you want, and select your KotOR 2 game folder as your KotOR 2 directory path, click the “Install” button and let the installer do its job.

FOR STEAM WORKSHOP USERS:

If you have subscribed to The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM) from the Steam Workshop, for your KotOR directory path, you must choose TSLRCM's Steam Workshop folder, NOT the main KOTOR 2 directory. The directory of the Steam Workshop version of TSLRCM is \Steam\SteamApps\Workshop\content\208580\485537937, while the directory of the TSLRCM + M4-78EP combined Steam Workshop mod is \Steam\SteamApps\Workshop\content\208580\1402798020.

When you install this mod, two new folders named "backup" and “uninstall” will be created by the installer in the same folder as the installer. Do not delete the folders or any of the files within the folder if you are planning on uninstalling this mod.

This mod also provides a compatibility patch for deathdisco’s Coruscant Jedi Temple and danil-ch's Kreia's Fall Cutscene (In-Game).Go to the “Compatibility Patches” folder from this mod, read the READ ME files within the sub-folders and follow the instructions to make PartySwap compatible with these mods. Go to the “Coruscant Jedi Temple Compatibility Patch” folder from this mod, read the READ ME files within the subfolder and follow the instructions to make PartySwap compatible with Coruscant Jedi Temple.

Note: The "Source" folder includes the source of the script used by this mod for modders' reference. Ignore the "Source" folder if you only want to install and play this mod.

3. UNINSTALLATION:

Run PartySwap Installer.exe and select your KotOR 2 directory where you installed this mod. From the “Tools” dropdown menu, select “Uninstall Mod / Restore Backup”, then confirm to uninstall the mod. You can also choose to delete the backup after uninstalling the mod.

4. KNOWN ISSUES:

None currently known. If you find any bugs or issues, please report them by posting on PartySwap’s download page or support thread on the Deadly Stream forums, or contact Leilukin directly.

5. MOD COMPATIBILITY:

Apart from The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM), which is required for this mod to work, any mod that edits Kreia's endgame dialog (904kreia.dlg) or Zuka's dialog on Dxun (zuka.dlg) is incompatible with this mod, unless they merge in installation. In that case, you must install PartySwap first.

This mod is not compatible with any other mod that involves putting the holorec.dlg file in the Override folder. If you want to use this mod, make sure you DO NOT have holorec.dlg in your Override folder, or Handmaiden will not be able to join your party when you play a female character!

This mod provides compatibility patches for deathdisco’s Coruscant Jedi Temple and danil-ch's Kreia's Fall Cutscene (In-Game).

This mod is compatible with KOTOR 2 Community Patch.

This mod is compatible with JC2's Train the Handmaiden.

This mod is compatible with all Leilukin’s mods for KotOR 2, including the romance mods, as long as you follow the instructions from Leilukin’s mod.

If you want to use danil-ch and Darth Hayze’s Extended Enclave, downloading and installing a separate compatibility patch is required to make PartySwap compatible with Extended Enclave. If you use Leilukin’s Handmaiden and Female Exile – Disciple and Male Exile Romance, you need to use the patch included in that mod. Otherwise, go to this page for a standalone compatibility patch: https://deadlystream.com/files/file/1304-partyswap-and-extended-enclave-compatibility-patch/

6. PERMISSION:

You may modify this mod for personal use or show this mod in screenshots. However, please do not redistribute or re-host this mod. Do not release your mods containing assets from this mod without permission.

7. CREDITS:

Everything on TSLRCM is canon to the old republic timeline.

So the argument is invalid...?

Mira, Brianna, Mical, Visas and atton never confronted Traya at the core, Atton never fought sion, Atris was not darth traya, the exile would not state to become Nihlius' apprentice, lie or otherwise, dustil onasis fate is unknown, not to mention M4-78 cut because master vash was killed by Sion.

Party Confrontation w/ Kreia: Why not? Do they have an alibi? What were they doing instead? Or did they, and history just not record such a noncritical confrontation? BTW - I do remember this confrontation during my first playthrough w/o TSLRCM, so it's a moot point, at best.

Atton vs. Sion: Same as above, why not, etc.

Atris was not Darth Traya: I don't think there was ever a time when Atris was outright stated to be Traya. It was always Kreia.

Exile Intent on Being Nihilus's Apprentice: That's really not an argument, as that is one of several dialogue options granted to the player.

Dustil Onasi: Yeah, same in RCM.

M4-78: That's a completely separate mod that serves no purpose to this discussion.

From my time playing through this game again recently, the only contradictory part of continuity was from EE, and I'd have to reload that particular save in order to find out what it was.

I actually really like the last few statements of your post. Good idea for another mod maybe...

1. Maybe they were trying to repair the Ebon hawk, especially when if fell into malachor.

2. There is a skin where atris is wearing black robes, and your actions could have her on Malachor instead of kreia. Someone had made a mod of this. Proof:

If you cant make a non-RCM version of this, I'll find someone who can.

That's cool, but it's not a part of RCM, so...

The party confrontation with Kreia scene was indeed a TSLRCM addition, but unless @The Historian could actually provide sources about this so-called "historical records" to prove that it didn't happen to Meetra Surik's story, arguments about certain content from TSLRCM being "historically inaccurate" are irrelevant.

My understanding is that it wasn't introduced by TSLRCM. Rather, it was considered for the original game but cut due to time constraints. It was one of many ideas that hadn't been fully explored by the writers, and could easily have been rejected outright or added as an alternate path based on previous choices.

Spoiler

Like how Handmaiden was supposed to fight Visas during the end game if you raised your influence with Visas too far over Handmaiden's. That's the follow up to Handmaiden confronting Visas on the Ebon Hawk, then refusing to talk to you afterward. TSLRCM brings the Ebon Hawk scene back, but doesn't include the final fight since that was never worked on.

tl;dr

An unfinished game doesn't exactly have a canon.

Okay,  "TSLRCM addition" might not be the right term. I intended to mean it was a content that didn't exist in vanilla TSL but was restored by TSLRCM. I assumed that people would get that due to the nature of a restored content mod, most if not all content from TSLRCM were cut content that wrere originally considered by Obsidian and not introduced by TSLRCM.

Regardless, my point against The Historian's claim that the confrontation wasn't "historically accurate" to Meetra Surik's story still stands. Unless there's actually an official source, SWTOR or not, that proves that it didn't happen, arguments about it not being "historically accurate" is invalid.

One person didn't get it. You can guess who that is...

I wasn't debating that. I was confirming your point, while also acknowledging that we don't know what Obsidian would have written if it had enough time to develop the story.

We weren't, until someone appointed themselves historian...

I successfully recruited both Handmaiden and Disciple, but the item 'Partyswap' doesn't show up. How does it show up? Does this not work on previous save files?

It's an adrenal, it should be automatically added on Disciple's recruitment - did the game indicate that you obtained the item?

I did recruit Disciple, but no item is added and nothing was indicated. I didn't use any mod except TSLRCM/M4-78 mod. I wonder is it possible to use cheat console to add the item.

Never mind. I've unloaded previous savefile. (Even though I had to re-run the whole Dantooine again) and it's working. Thank you for the mod. You are the best.

Could this be compatible with Coruscant Jedi Temple if the compatibility patch were used? It says it accounts for Handmaiden for females, but not PartySwap.

You could try it - I believe it would just need to change the galaxymap script. Let me know if it doesn't work and I'll try to figure out why.

I've ran into a game breaking problem with this mod.  Everything works fine until you get to the endgame.  I've just finished talking to the re-assembled Jedi Council, I leave the Enclave and end up on the Hawk.  Visas comes up to me and says 'You are troubled, I can feel it' (I played a male LS exile).  After we 'look upon each other' the game leaves me stuck on the Hawk with no way to progress.  Anyone find any solutions?

I ran into this same issue during my playthrough. After talking to Visas, the game starts to fade to black as if going into a loading screen, but rather cuts to you in the Hawk. You can talk to Visas again which restarts the dialogue, but ultimately leaves you still stuck. It's been a while since I played, but I believe there was a hologram of Disciple that you could interact with. Perhaps there are two events conflicting with each other on the LS Male playthrough preventing you from progressing with this mod?

This has been confirmed to be fixed in the current release. If you’re still experiencing issues, would you please detail what other mods you’re using?

For a male PC, when Mira catches Atton spying on meditation practice with the Exile and Disciple, she tells Atton to stop watching "her", and that "she's" got enough problems. I wasn't sure if you were aware of the lines that need some editing.

Uh, unless you're using any romance mods, that scene should still be disabled for males.

I'm utilizing the Reddit Mod Build which utilizes your mod and several others. The only romance mod I have is Sion expressing conflicted feelings for a male PC, which was recommended to make him less one-dimensional. I don't think that it would effect anything related to Atton or Disciple.

What, the mod build, or the Male Exile/Sion mod? Or both?

First time seeing that particular error. I don't know of any other mods on the build that alter that file.

Yeah, well, on another playthrough with pretty much the same build, some creatures on Dxun weren't spawned in as hostile.

Hello,

I had like 25 errors and 25 warnings pop up during the install today. I believe I have TSLRCM 1.8.5 installed. What would you suggest?
