View File Complete Sith Academy [BETA] A Mod for Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic Author: N-DReW25 1.0.0 Release Date: 14.11.2024 Installation: Simply click on the HoloPatcher.exe, click install and sit back and watch the HoloPatcher do its magic. Description: In the first Kotor game, the Korriban Sith Academy had two inaccessible rooms that were locked behind static doors (meaning you can't interact with them). Throughout the Kotor games, there are many static doors that lead nowhere. These doors exist to imply that the levels are bigger than what they actually are... you just don't get to see the full area. If you were to use mods to open these statics doors, in most cases you will find that there is no room behind these doors as the developers didn't intend for those doors to be opened, the same is true for the Sith Academy's two hidden rooms. In the second Kotor game, you revisit Korriban and get to see the areas you travelled through five years after the first game. Obsidian added two new rooms behind the previously inaccessible doors that led nowhere in the first game, a Library and a Teacher's Dormitory. For over 15 years, player's have known that a Library and Teacher's Dormitory canonically existed behind the static doors of the Sith Academy in the first game but couldn't do anything about it... until now. At the end of 2024, the modder Thor110 ported the Library and Teacher's Dormitory from the second game to the first and released it as a modder's resource. And using this modder's resource, I have made the Complete Sith Academy mod for K1. The Library and the Teacher's Dormitory from the second game has been populated with objects and NPCs to make these areas "fit in" with the visual aesthetics and the environment of the first game. The NPC Tamlen has been moved into the Library whilst the Sith Teacher with Tamlen has also been moved to the Teacher's Dormitory, the dueling Sith Students and the Sith Teacher overseeing them have also been moved to the room outside the Academy to prevent a bug where you can hear the clashing of Lightsabers from inside the Library if they kept in their original location. Sith Students have been added to the Library who study on the computers there, making them inaccessible to the player, and Sith Students have also been added to the Teacher's Dormitory alongside the Sith Teacher already in there. The Footlockers you find in the second game CANNOT be opened, but I have added new Footlockers and other objects you can open to the Teacher's Dormitory alongside a Workbench. You can expect to leave the Korriban Academy with some rare, albeit weak, items you wouldn't have received otherwise. There are no custom made NPCs or side quests added in this mod, I wanted the new rooms to "fit in" with the rest of the game. I know other modders DO intend to make mods that adds the new Academy rooms like this mod, except their mods will have some form of side quest content. If they do develop and release these mods then those mods will probably be incompatible with this mod - when that time comes, you may have to choose between their mod & this mod. Known Bugs: If you click on the Sith Students on the computers too much, they stop doing their "typing" animations. This mod shouldn't have any bugs but if you find any please report them to me on Deadlystream. Incompatibilities: To be added! Alternatively, you can download Thor110's modder's resource and use Holocron Toolset to add your own placeables to the module thus bypassing needing to use my mod as a base. Simply changes student and teacher attire in the Sith Academy to actual Dark Jedi robes. Released: 12 March 2015 Author: Cerez Description: This is a variation of Shem's "Robes for Korriban Sith Students" mod to do nothing but change the uniforms the students and instructors are wearing in the Sith Academy on Korriban to Dark Jedi robes that are actually befitting the Sith. It also turns one of the mistakenly named students from the original game (Hijata) into a regular student. Instructions: Place all the files in the Files folder into your game's Override folder. You will need to do this before entering the Sith Academy for the first time. Otherwise, you will need to load a save game from when you still hadn't stepped into the Sith Academy for the changes to take effect. Credits: This mod is based on Shem's "Robes for Korriban Sith Students" mod, and uses some of Shem's original files. Special thanks to Shem for his assistance with the making of this mod. In early 2021, the concept of an aggressive and alternate path into the Korriban Academy was conceived. What if you could charge in lightsabers ignited and guns blazing into Korriban? Especially Post Events of the Leviathan (PEL)! CONCEPT QUESTIONS: What if there was a Darkside & Lightside routes of assault to Korriban Temple? Would you subjugate it as a Sith defeating Master Uthar and usurping his authority or would you recruit him as your pawn? This latter option led to the same issues of Shanilia of the PC deciding pre-unknown world (Lehon) which LS or DS path they'd choose, and creates a minor plot hole with Jolee/Juhani/Bastila and other PM who think the PC is saving the galaxy; thus the workaround is prevention of those characters accompanying or requiring the PC to do it solo. Raising the difficulty in terms of gameplay and modding those conditionals. Or would Revan enforce the Rule of Two, or merely adopt the Sith philosophy of testing and destroying the weak amongst them, and wipe out the entire Academy? This raises issues of the famed strategic mindset Revan was accredit for having. On the Lightside, would the PC eradicate all evil in open combat and take on an army? Would you lead a strike team of Jedi to launch a sneak attack and cripple the inflow of new Sith recruits? Would there be any room for repentance? The greatest point would be for the Lightside PC to actually save the fleeing Sith students in the caves. This entire incident would suddenly become a major plot point of the Assault Korriban Temple mod, while still being optional, as most of the vanilla plot would be removed. NARRATIVE CHALLENGES: For all these narrative reasons, the mod's creative direction was hard to settle upon. Eventually, I determine PEL was the only reasonable justification for the mod even existing, otherwise the PC is too weak and power scaling doesn't make sense. Though anyone could argue that this was countered by the vanilla game sending the entire academy at you. How do you accurately represent the Sith within the Temple responding to a Sith PC, it would be initial hostility followed by respect and a conversation with Yuthura/Uthar allowing the PC to subjugate or completely destroy them. Destroy has to be an option for PC expectations of Sith, DS jedi or DS elitist or Rule of Two, etc... Eventually, I settled on that, and the LS version was also PEL followed by an optional but recommended Jedi Strike team that had infiltrated the Dreshdae colony and were about to strike. Therefore, it would be more coincidental that the PC was there (Will of the Force) resulting in the death of all Sith, except fleeing students found in the cave. ENDINGS: The PC would then be able to simply walk into the Starmap module or be escorted by friendly Sith, dramatically shortening the quest list on Korriban and player time on Korriban. TECHNICAL HURDLES: On a technical standpoint, this required massive changes to all Korriban modules, massive changes to dialogue, lack of voice acting and replacement of aliens VOs, doors would have to be unlocked, party member specific scripts, enormous bug testing, compatibility issues for practically any Korriban mod, removing triggers, re-doing sidequests like the Mandalorian prisoner (planned to make him Republic), creating new sidequests like allowing PC to free & save Republic soldiers used as sparring partners. The more I write about this crazy idea, the more I like it! This was simply an idea I had for a mod, it would be awesome to see this or something like this done by anyone. I may in-fact come back to this project in the future. But, alas, I have an even more exciting and original modding project in development that may take me years to complete! Or like this modding project fall to the wayside and become yet another gravepost of the Journal of jc2. May the Force be with you, -jc2
