Kotor Scripting Tool v0.1.3.1 trouble.
Purifier replied to Purifier's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Glad to hear you found the bug, Blue. So XP doesn't support .png app icons - I would've never imagined that it would be such a simple problem as that. Seems like a majority of the time it's the simple problematic stuff that ends up being the actual problem in most cases. I can you tell as a former mechanic, 8 times out of 10 it was like that with vehicles and other machines I use to work on. Anyway, I learn something new about XP. Once again, thank you so much for looking into this and finding the problem. I think you deserve one of these - -

Here's what I got on my old rig, Blue. OS - Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (32-bit) Version - 5.1. 2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600 System Type - x86-based PC Thanks again for looking into this, Blue. -
Very nice, Sithspecter. I like what you did with these better looking blasters. I know I mentioned that I prefer the hack a slash methods using blades in the game, but what I didn't mention was that was mostly only with my player character and some of the party members who are Jedi. I do equip Carth, Canderous Ordo, Zaalbar and HK47 with blasters. So these in their hands will definitely look a damn site better than the game's vanilla originals.

Kotor Scripting Tool v0.1.3.1 trouble.

Hello Blue, Yeah man, glad you posted in this thread and thanks to whomever PM'd you. I can't speak for DP, but I am totally stumped as to why your program won't work on the old Win XP I got. I've always had that problem with it crashing at the startup logo. But any effort you make looking into this is most appreciated. I would love to know (and I'm sure others would to) what is causing that, if you happen to find the cause of it. Can't think of questions right now, Blue, but I may have some later on. Good luck and thanks for your response to this matter. -
Oh it's good enough alright, IMO it's a vast improvement to vanilla original. I mean I can make out the detail of the body indentions, along with the faint muscle and bone impressions you put on that texture for the model. It rocks, man! I really hope you do more. ; ) But hey, if you would like to know what could be improved upon just a little, just to make it all really pop - The only thing I can see that could be improved upon is the outline shading of the shoulder blades. It seems to me they're just a little too flat looking on the model and maybe a little more subtle depth in shading, but less darker, may help with those shoulder blade lines, if you know what I mean? As a matter of fact, what you did for the chest area is a perfect example. But oh man...other than that, I think you've pretty much got it down pat.

Kotor Scripting Tool v0.1.3.1 trouble.
Purifier replied to Purifier's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Yeah now that you mention that, I do have the nwscript.nss in the Kotor 1 override folder, my updated K1 version automatically installs a copy along with some other files, but also since you mention that, I noticed I didn't have a copy of nwscript.nss in the K2 TSL override folder. So I thought I might try this just in case out of desperation (lol), even though I figured this wouldn't make much difference, but just for the helluva it, I put a copy of it in the K2 TSL override just see if that made any kind difference in the thing working or not, but as expected, no luck there either. But you know thing is, DP, I'm thinking the author wrote the program for Windows Vista or the above only and it just wasn't meant to be used on WIn XP, because maybe Win XP is just too slow for it or vise versa or maybe he didn't have Win XP in mind when he wrote the thing. Maybe he forgot to mention that in his readme or something. Who knows. -

Well no I'm using the CD installed versions for both K1 and K2. I've never used any Steam installed versions. But I didn't know it did a registry check to see if I had the games. Sounds like it does the same thing as the Kotor tool does to check and see if I have the games? BTW, is this KS Tool a standalone program? I mean it doesn't need to be associated in anyway with the Kotor tool, right? -

Well still no progress, DP. I download the full offline installer from your link, uninstalled what I had and installed the full offline installer, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Same problem as before. But thanks for the link and suggestion, though. I appreciate that. But yeah me too, I don't know what other options I could use as work-a-round myself, except I do have the old compiling\decompiling precursor script stuff that was meant to work with Fred Tetra's Kotor Tool that I downloaded from the old StarWarsKnights.com page from back in the day. For instance, say like; JdNoa and Dashus DeNCS decompiler for TSL only and I also have Fred Tetra's nwnnsscomp1.03 for his Kotor tool. But I've tried using all that old compiler\decompiler stuff in the past and could never get it all to work for me. Always had trouble with those. And I heard from others over the years, that a lot of it only worked half the time as far as decompiling NCS scripts goes. Anyway, I highly suspect that it's a compatibility issue between Win XP and the KS Tool and probably the only way to solve this particular problem to keep the KS Tool from crashing, is to have it installed on a Win 7 operating system. Unfortunately right now I don't have the funds to go out and buy a Win 7 desktop computer or have a computer with Win 7 around to test that out. Oh man, totally agree with ya about that. And I wish I could right now, but like I mentioned before, been strapped for cash these days and that's a luxury I can't afford to upgrade to right now. But I did have a laptop with Win 7 on it at one time, but that sucker got dropped one too many times (my daughter was careless with it at times) and so it completely stopped working one day. Never could get it to boot up or nothing anymore, like the harddrive went out in it or something. So anyway, I had to resort back to using my old trusty Win Xp desktop rig and have been ever since that happened. But hey, thanks for the advice though and I completely agree with you about that. -

Kotor Scripting Tool v0.1.3.1 trouble.
Purifier replied to Purifier's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Sure do, DP. From 2.0 all through up to 4.0 NET framework. Yeah see, I thought that as well and even tried it only with the 3.5 Net framework just for giggles. And it did exactly as you might expect, clicked on the program's exe and it immediately popped up a warning saying I need the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0.30319.1 So I installed the 4.0 version as the author recommended, which I guess it installed fine without any problems and then I tried the KSTool's exe again and that time around it would start up, but then crashed like 5 seconds later. Could be that Win XP doesn't like Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 and maybe that in turn is causing the problem with the crashing of the KSTool program? Hell I really don't know though, I'm stumped. BTW, thanks for taking the time to reply to my post, DP. Much appreciate that. -
Has anybody ever had a problem starting up this program on their computer before? Kotor Scripting Tool v0.1.3.1 http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/191-kotor-scripting-tool/ I wanted to use it to try and decompile a custom NCS script, but the darn thing won't even get past it's "Kotor Script Editor" logo screen before popping up the typical Windows "Kotor Scripting Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." thingy and then I have to shut it down. I swear I came across this same problem before, years ago, with an earlier version of this program. I've installed it twice to make sure it wasn't a first time bad install and it still does it. I do have the dotNetFx4.0 installed as required, but I'm beginning to wonder if the author wrote the program with a earlier or later version instead and just mistakenly thought he was using 4.0. But surely not? The only other thing I can think of is that it's not for old rig like mine that runs Windows XP and instead the author designed it to run on Win 7 only. So any ideas what could be possibly wrong or has anybody ever had this problem as well?

^Oh wow, man I've never heard of such a thing with file formats like that before, but then again, I've seen other strange things in general modding that never made sense either. I guess it's just one of those things that comes along and throws you for a loop every once in a while. Aaah bummer! We'll you can at least view the texture files with those programs, right?
-
Many of you may want to try these as well; http://dxtbmp.software.informer.com/4.0/ DXTMP This one let's you view DDS files. http://dds-converter.software.informer.com/2.1/ DDS Converter 2.1 This one let's you view DDS files and can convert it to TGA files or other types (like JPG) as well. Over in the Far Cry & Crysis modding community we've used these two programs for years and they do the job quite nicely.

Blog #33 - Please review an alternate M4-78 mod from 2006?
Purifier commented on Sith Holocron's blog entry in Sith Holocron's Blog
Well I got half way through it, SH. But some bugs in that mod seem to pop-up when I save the game at certain points, which cause other problems in the mod preventing me from going any further and so I gave up. What stopped me was; Couldn't get through the magnetic force field doors to the industrial zone. The lock thingy in the bar, that was usually there to pick at the beginning of the mod, wasn't there anymore (after a save) for me to pick and the door wouldn't open like a normal non locked door should. I think maybe I did something wrong, but then again, there were other bugs in that mod that make me think otherwise. I don't know for sure. But besides that problem, I don't care for the game play in that mod all that much either. Seems at various times as almost monotonous with wave after wave of droid fighting to get from one place to another with all that fighting going on. I don't know, just seemed a little too long for me in those specific cases. I think it was overdone. Another thing I think they over did was the obsessiveness with the containers at the beginning, when you first walk from the Hawk into the (second module) Central Zone from the ramp. And speaking of the ramp coming into the Central Zone, they had three containers sitting on a incline, but the containers themselves weren't sitting inclined with the ramp. I'm a stickler for details and those kind of incorrect physical mistakes with objects bug me. It's minor details, but it just doesn't look right and those little minor mistakes all add up visually and make a difference. Another thing for me was the use of Firaxa sharks as a central computer AI intelligence or whatever they were suppose to be. That seem so out-of-place to me for the authors to use a biological entity in place of a non-organic central computer AI like that. While I was playing it - I was thinking at the time - why they just didn't put in place a glowing colored floating sphere that rotated instead? Maybe add some electrical lightening sparking off it or something. That would seem more computer machine like as a AI intelligence. Anyway, like Eauxps pointed out in his blog, this is one of those mods that was probably alright at the time it was released, despite the bugs, when Kotor 2 was still somewhat new. Because it had potential, still does really, which could've of been improved upon a little more. But I'm betting the M4-78EP mod is going to be at least better than this old M4-78 version, judging from the way everybody else has described playing it, so I'm looking forward to playing that version when I get the time. So there you go, SH. My 2 cents. ; ) -
A little catching up to do...

Couldn't help but read your story and I know I latecomer, but gotta say.... That's a helluva personal story you wrote about man. I normally wouldn't think people would act like that against their own kin. But then again it doesn't surprise me when people let religion and church dictate their thoughts and actions. Overall I'd say how it turned out for you in the end, even though you went through all that emotional hell and BS with your family and the church, was actually a blessing in disguise. Because now your independent from the family and you have your own life rules. Their problem with you about your life choice is not your problem, it's their problem and now their dealing with it. They're dealing with it because of how they think and what they believe. You can't help that or help them, because they live their lives today because of how they think. Because the church they go to owns them mentally. If they want to remain in that church with all it's supposed blessings, whether alive or after death, they have to make a commitment and abide by their sacred rules. But the church and your family set you free. So you are no longer owned by either. That's the best thing that could of happened to you in the long run. Hopefully one day at least some of your family members will see the true light and the error of their ways and learn to accept you as you are. People tend to change somewhat as they get older and there's always hope. Good luck on your relationship and I hope you have a happy future ahead you. I wish you all the best. Don't let others hate, anger and resentment drag you down. Do what you want to do and think positive. -
Do you mean like a blog review or something? But since I've registered here, I've been leaving reviews for all the mods in the downloads section that I recently downloaded from here. I'm intending on doing the same for the ones I already downloaded years ago; and I've noticed some mods without at least one review. Man that's a shame. So many great mods deserve at least one review. Lol, speaking of Tslrcm...holy wookies! Yeah I just realized I still have the Tslrcm 1.5 in my TSL mod files and there has been many upgrades to that awesome mod since then. So I better get to downloading the latest version. Thank you! Nice to meet you, Milestails. Can't say I've come across you over at Lucasforums over the years, haven't been on that website in quite a while until just recently, although your name does sound familiar to me, but whether finally here or there, nice to meet you anyway.

Got it downloaded, SH. And as soon as I get the chance and the amount of time to play the mods all the way through, I'll give you some feedback on what I think. Alrighty? ; ) -
