KotOR Re-Release Inbound?
Kexikus replied to ChrisC26's topic in Knights of the Old Republic General
I really hope this stays a rumor... As much as I'd like to play a KotOR game with better graphics (and improved gameplay in some areas), I fear that they'd screw the gameplay completely. And mod support is also incredibly important for me and Frostbite engine where they would probably make the remake isn't exactly known for that. -
FS recommendations sound pretty good. One thing you should always check when installing many mods is te TSLPatcher install log. And if it says that something was overwritten or not installed as the file was already present in the Override (both can happen), find out which mods are conflicting here and see if you can fix it somehow or if one of the mods maybe doesn't need the file to work.

It would have been even better if you could have used Thrawns skybox but it's still such a big improvement, it's simply amazing I really can't wait to use those next time I play the game. Even if those views are rarely seen ingame, they still improve the game by a lot.
-
I also wish you the best of luck but it seems like Thrawn has been gone for 6 years now :/ You could ask L0ki if he knows a way to contact him. (He made the loadscreens to use with the skybox, so maybe he has a way.)
-
Awesome. If you start working on them before my skyboxes are done let me know and I'll send you what's done already
-
Awesome I was really hoping that someone would do this eventually and even thought about doing it myself, so I'm very glad I inspired you to do that. One question: Will those be done for TSL and K1? And if you do them for K1, I could also send you my skyboxes to use in those cases where the sky is actually visible from the cockpit. (Or maybe, my pack is done before you start with K1 and you could use it anyway^^)

Just perfect

Well, I plan to do a high quality skybox pack for TSL some day and that would also include new Coruscant skyboxes for the vanilla scenes there as well as the Jedi Temple mod Otherwise, I think that the landing video should start with the Ebon Hawk flying towards the planet (as all of them do), then maybe one shot where she's in lower orbit already so that you can see Coruscant from space in all it's glory^^. And finally a cool establishing shot of the Jedi Temple and maybe have the Ebon Hawk fly around it once before landing. And if I could choose music completely free for that I'd go with a slow but still epic and kinda sad version of the force theme. By the way, I was actually thinking about this exact topic yesterday shortly before you started this thread xD Edit: One thing to consider however is the way the Jedi Temple itself would look like. In the TOR cinematics it looks just the same as in the movies, while (judging from the loading screens milestails postet) it looks more like in the KotOR comics in the Jedi Temple mod or at least very different. So that would have to be decided.

Making Darth Nihilus a hardcore badass Sith Lord
Kexikus replied to VarsityPuppet's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I like the idea but that could lead to a lot of frustration for people that rely on their sabers to do damage as is often the case for lightside players I think. Also, last time I played TSLRCM, Nihilus was actually the hardest boss fight in my eyes xD -
I have to admit that I'm not a fan of those new colors. I prefered the simple blue version. Everything else about that new animation looks amazing

@Jorak Uln: Well, those BoSSR levels that you saw on my screenshots above are not extracted from Korriban. One of them is from Tatooine, then there are two more from Dantooine and one that's completely custom (not shown on my screenshots). I assume that Silveredge did exactly what is described in the link above to make those areas look like Korriban with new sets of textures as that's where these parts of the mod take place. That's also why I was able to use two different skyboxes for the desert area and the three other mountain modules. They simply use different sets of textures even though their skybox looks the same in the original BoSSR. And since the mountain area has basically the same landscape as the vanilla Korriban modules, I also used the same skybox for them. So yeah, none of the vanilla skyboxes will be overwritten by those BoSSR skyboxes but you will instead have some more variety where the same skyboxes were used by BoSSR originally. (And that picture you linked doesn't work by the way.)

Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Kexikus replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Seems like I missed something as well. Where did he get banned? -
Sorry, but I don't really understand what you mean :/

The BoS:SR Korriban skyboxes are done. The first one is just the same as my original Korriban skybox, again with modified fog colours. The second one was really cool to work on and I quite like the way it came out. Luckily I was able to recycle much of the Tatooine and Korriban terrain nodes to make it, meaning that making the skybox was a fairly quick process

TSLPatcher for something like this is really easy to learn, just read the included instructions .pdf and you should be able to make the needed installer. About the head: It's looking really good already but I agree that the tentacles could use some work and the hair should be darker. And the darkside transition should be what the two posts before mine described. And as a sidenote: If you present an unfinished mod, make a thread in the Work in Progress section. The release thread will be added when you upload the mod.

Right-click the TSL .exe file, select Settings, go to Compability and check "Deactivate Visual Designs", "Desktop..." and "Deactivate high DPI scaling" or whatever they are called in english. That fixed all movie crashes in the first KotOR for me and I assume it'll also work for TSL. But reporting it on the Steam forums also seems like a good idea.

I'm really not sure if I should laugh or cry right now... -
Some more description would be helpful. Like what is actually unfinished?

I love these little mods that simply make the game better. This one will certainly permanently stay in my override folder.

Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Kexikus replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Good to see this is resolved. And if he indeed uploads it again, maybe it's possible to get him banned from the workshop? Aspyr as developer should be able to do that and if he indeed doesn't recognize the fact that he's not allowed to upload other peoples mods, maybe that's the only way to prevent him from doing that... -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods

I highly doubt Steam will react before the new week starts and even then I assume it might take a while, sadly... -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Kexikus replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
It is. The Steam Terms of Service explicitly say that everything you upload to the workshop has to be your work. So the upload is a violation of those terms and can be reported. -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Kexikus replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I can understand that but the uploader only said "No!" after HH said he wouldn't upload it to the workshop. After this comment and all the other reactions to his decision I wouldn't upload it either (or atleast not in the near future), but I was wondering what his original reason was. -
Why it's not okay to upload someone else's mods
Kexikus replied to Xuul's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I'll do the same. I wonder however why you don't want to upload your mod over on the Steam workshop? It's only one file but it's pretty popular, so I don't see why you wouldn't want to share it via workshop. It's obviously your choice and the author not taking it down for that reason is just behaving like an asshat there...
