Mod Name:

PC Response Moderation

*************************

Under NO circumstances is this, or any of my other,

mod(s) to be posted on ANY site other than by myself.

*************************

1. Info

===========

Ever since my first playthrough, I always found some of the PC responses to range from jarring to downright idiotic. Mainly the ones ending with exclamations.

The light side responses sounded childish, naive and overly enthusiastic at random points, rather than adhere to a code which said to moderate emotions.

The dar kside responses on the other hand lacked any sort of finesse, and sounded like they were spoken by a perpetually angry pubescent child.

This mod was designed to tone down these particular sets of responses by removing the exclamations and replacing them with fullstops, and/or rewriting the lines to more apropriate ones.

2. Instalation:

=========

Unpack the dialog.tlk file into the main KotOR directory. When asked to overwrite the original, select yes.

3. Usage

=========

The mod will replace the lines as soon as the dialog.tlk is placed into the main KotOR folder.

4. REMOVAL:

===========

Download default dialog.tlk file here - http://www.starwarsknights.com/tools.php#de

Replace the modded file with the one downloaded from the link above.

There should be no issues if you install it before K1R, as K1R appends additional dialogue to the same file. (You can reinstall K1R after replacing the dialogue.tk file, should work fine.)

Isn't K1R recommended to install BEFORE any other mods? Would there be any game-breaking effects if I chose to install this after K1R and not reinstall it? Or would it just have some of the old dialogue in it (which I'm totally fine with)?

Is this by any chance compatible with Allronix's Dialogue Pack? It doesn't contain any dialog.tlk files, but I'm trying my best to avoid any nasty surprises ;P

I'm having trouble getting the mod to work 😕 I've placed the dialog.tlk file into the main swkotor directory (where the exe is located), but it doesnt work. I've also had it in a separate dialog folder in the main folder, but that didn't work as well.

You have done right with putting the dialog.tlk into the main SW:KotOR directory, and I believe it should have work then. Are you sure it is not working? The mod is working noticeably on the early Endar Spire scene when Trask is asking you to go and save Bastila, the proper response would be: "Fine, let's go.", if I recalled the sentence correctly. Sorry I can't afford you a proper screencap as the electricity's down in my town right now :sigh: Ah-ha! as the electricity is now up-and-running, I can afford you a screencap here:

This could be useful as a notion to the mod being properly working or no- earlier in the game.

Thank you for the screencap, made this much easier :). I re-downloaded the game, that seems to have done the trick. Thanks!

Say @Kainzorus Prime, will this work with the mod smuggler dialogue fix for kotor mod by koopaonfire? That also touches the dialogue.tlk and reason I use that one is because smuggler's more of an occupation than "scoundrel", I do not want to replace that one, but I'd like to use yours as well :)

For the love of god please put this in a patcher. We can't have any other dialog mods because of this

TSLPatcher doesn't support changing existing StrRefs in a TLK, only adding new ones. So there is no practical way to merge modified TLKs other than manually.

 I'm posting this same comment on "PC Response Moderation" and "[K1] Improved dialog.tlk 1.0" as it relates to both. Really nice work done here and there and can't decide which one is best.

I did found the occasional mismatch, like some word on VO but not in subtitle, or vice-versa. Random example: someone says "That's a very good thing" but the subtitle reads "That's a good thing", but those instances are so few and far between and just adjectives that I did not make a note of it.

Still, there's just one (and only that one) line of dialogue that I can't get over:

When leaving the Tatooine swoop track after becoming champion, a twilek asks the player for an autoprint. In the vanilla game the 1st reply option is "What? My autoprint? Are you serious?", to what the fan replies "Sure I am. (...)". Now in this modifications the player just says "My autoprint?", to which the twilek still replies "Sure I am."

So, for a more fluid conversation the player should ask "My autoprint? Are you serious?" or the phrase "Sure I am." removed from the fan response subtitle.

If you ever consider an update, please correct this. 🙏
