Looking for book recommendations (Non star wars)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm looking for book suggestions on what book to read next. Nothing Star Wars since I can see that being the obvious answer. Lately I have been reading mostly Sci-Fi & fantasy but if you have something else to suggest do so.

Anything Mark Twain is great. My personal favorite is the Mysterious Stranger and Huckleberry Finn

If you want something non-fictional but science oriented, try The Self-Aware universe  or Science Set Free.

A lot of good suggestions in this thread. I have actually read a lot of the suggestions already,

Saga.

Not actually sure what this is, since when I google it a bunch of stuff comes up.

Have you read "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman?

No, I will have to check this out. That being said I really did not like American Gods so I am not so sure about reading anything by Gaiman again.

I'll just list my favorites not mentioned above:

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King

Haven't read this one, I'll ahve to check it out as well

My personal favorites are the Moreau series by S. Andrew Swann.

The books are called Forests of the Night, Emperors of the Twilight, Specters of the Dawn, and Fearful Symmetries.

They follow the lives of 'moreaus' in a dystopian future where a global war known as the "Pan Asian War" resulted in genetic engineering of different animals to make them into supersoldiers.

Fairly recently all 4 were released together in 2 volumes of books called The Moreau Quartet.

The Hunt for Red October - Tom Clancy

Jurassic Park - Michael Crichton

The Eagle Has Landed - Jack Higgins

The Day of the Jackal - Frederick Forsyth

The Exorcist - William Peter Blatty

The Godfather - Mario Puzo

I second the Jeff/Michael Shaara suggestion. I'm currently reading Siddhartha by Herman Hesse.
