Adding new texture and eye flashing to droid model "C_ForDrd"
Malkior replied to Sith Holocron's topic in Mod Requests
Thanks for the new model. It fixed the crashing issues completely. What I've figured out is that it wasn't my UTI edit, as I used a save file, and it crashed just the same as before. My current hypothesis is that rather than giving you the option to add bumpmaps, it instead requires them to run. I'm currently reading the bumpmap thread to create my own to see if the lack was causing it to crash. EDIT: It looks like either my custom bumpmap didn't work, or the model simply keeps crashing (The original one you posted) on all saves. // I tried attaching it to this message, but it's just over the 2mb limit for single attachment files// The new model works fine, but I can't tell if the bumpmap is actually applying or not. -
Yeah. I figured Watto was the most accurate example of Toydarian attire, and he wears crotchless leggings in the movies. Edit: After looking through some images from the movies, Watto may wearing some sort of leather thong, which is possibly one of the weirder things I've typed.. I could try fashioning pants, but they might look strange.

Adding new texture and eye flashing to droid model "C_ForDrd"
Malkior replied to Sith Holocron's topic in Mod Requests
I'm seeing this on Dantooine as I put a UTC of Terena Adare into my Override with the appearance of the droid foreman selected. Is this the wrong way to test? As you can probably tell, I'm still rather new to this. -
Here's a picture of it I basically took the vest texture and cut pieces off then pasted them onto the Toydarian to create makeshift "clothes". If you would like, I can send you the .tga via PM.

Adding new texture and eye flashing to droid model "C_ForDrd"
Malkior replied to Sith Holocron's topic in Mod Requests
Wellp it seems I was using the wrong Override folder After re-extracting it, I keep getting intermittent crashes.. It could be a formatting error or the program simply isn't capable of running the extra geometry or edits. The crashes are "contained" by re-extraction, but after trying to leave the room upon seeing the droid, it crashes and continues to do so if I try to reload the level. -
Adding new texture and eye flashing to droid model "C_ForDrd"
Malkior replied to Sith Holocron's topic in Mod Requests
So, I .. don't know how to install your model files into my game to replace the default model. What I've done to test it was to change an existing UTI (Terena Adare) and view the results, but for some reason it's still using the old (non glowing) version. -
I did a toydarian clothing retex a long while back by literally painting them on. The results were less than fantastic, but at least it wasn't naked..

[TSL] High Quality Blasters (For real this time)
Malkior replied to Sithspecter's topic in Work In Progress
I was about to say the same thing. I had assumed that this was due to some sort of modeling issue (Or rigging) that forced Obsidian to leave them as badly as we see. Also, the melee are alright with an exception of the vibroblades. The blade model hilt is slightly wedged inside of the hand if you look closely at it. -
Not to interject too much, hopefully, but I at least have some HD'ish reskins of the TSF officers and Grenn, if you were interested. I redid the Onderonian soldiers as well, but they don't look as detailed yet.

Right... My mistake. Allow me to remedy my post a bit.

First and foremost we need to know if you're using any other mods aside from this one as mod conflicts can be the cause of a lot of problems. Second, this problem could be tied to installing the mod after a certain point, as most settings are tied to their save game files. Lasty, did you do any of the things Chainz mentioned in his own post that could have caused your problems? Reply premium ChAiNz.2da9 kudos53 posts Heya Lawrence0294, Did you drop the 'files' themselves in the game's override folder... or did you drop the folder named 'override' in to your game's override? (that won't work with K1) Also, K1 and K2 games can be a bit quirky. If you've already triggered an area load, or particular scene, the mods' tend not to work since the data is saved in the save game file itself rather than searching for the override. In order for this mod to work, it has to be BEFORE you rescue Bastila (during the swoop races on Taris). Hope that helps. report posted @ 10:35, 4 Dec 2015

It could also be a graphics issue with your GPU. Have you been able to play the base game (Vanilla) without these problems?

Sorry about the suggestion. I was looking at this from a tactical perspective, but it could cause unecessary distraction and could also clutter the UI, so it's fine.

No. you're entirely missing my point. I said that Luke said HE FLEW HIS T-16 BACK HOME which proves he flew a ship of some sort that required that kind of pinpoint accuracy at high rates of speed. I am extrapolating from the scene that since he was discussing flying a ship to hit a target that small that he in fact had flown a ship at similar speeds and that he had good enough accuracy to do the trench run. I am not using my own assumptions based on bare-bones dialogue. I am using specific parts of dialogue from that movie. Rey said she was a pilot but of what exactly? She never specifies. She clearly flies a speeder in the first part of the movie, so is she referring to that? Is she just overconfident and bluffing to look more impressive? We never hear anything more of it. I am using the EXACT same scrutiny between Luke and Rey. I am actual quotes from the films to prove that these characters could very clearly do these set-piece moments IN THE STATE THEY ARE INTRODUCED. I am ignoring canon in its entirety for the sake of an objective argument. All I've used in my examples are scenes from the movies themselves to support what I said afterward. "a movie needs to hold up on its own merits". If we ignore that "evidence" scripted up at the last minute (And of which I proved logically ridiculous after going back and analyzing it in my subsequent post) which is never mentioned beyond that one quote you could very well be taking out of context.

I like this idea, but you might want to implement a UI element (maybe a mousover tooltip if possible?) to indicate exactly what buffs the enemies are using, so that you're not guessing wildly as to which enemies are the biggest threat and can formulate a strategy. That said, enemy smart grenade usage sounds horrifying yet great in equal measure. Since you are improving the enemy AI, were you planning in improving the party companion AI as well?

Luke: "I used to bullseye womprats with my T-16 back home" He was referring to flying the Death Star raid which required one to fly an X-Wing. This was in the movie, and the we only didn't get to see the ship itself. Did Rey ever say, "I'm the best mechanic in the quadrant" or "I fly freighters for fun" Not that I can recall. She just knew how the Falcon ran because she *had* to fly it later in the movie. That's just a sign of the writer not knowing how to give a character a unique role, so instead they just give them a capability with everything yet only the weakness that they don't yet know all of these things they are already capable of, a-la "chosen one" syndrome. This could be tempered if her personality was that of a whiny little pissant, which is what kept Luke grounded as a 3-dimensional character , but instead that "comedic" role was given to Poe for some reason. It's that blatant hero worship that made me hate her role in the movie, since it became painfully predictable (Hero finds out they're special; Hero meets a mentor, Mentor teaches Hero; Hero more or less defeats bad guy singlehandedly) I didn't get that with the Original movie because Luke may have had that potential, but he was hardly the focal point. He experienced these struggles to save the Princess, but Han did most of the sneaking, fighting, and work. The word "Canon" can only go so far. For a movie, it needs to hold up on its own merits. I hated Episode 7 because it was so contrived and clearly was filling in check marks from its focus groups. The heart and soul of the original Star Wars was the world around the characters, like the original Cantina scene or the Tusken Raiders and Jawas; the Death Star was massive, and Leia was very clearly going to die if they didn't find a way to fly into its labyrinthine fortification to somehow find her. However, each of these set-pieces were only part of the overarching narrative. Luke could just have magically found the Rebels and told them how to defeat the Empire before finally fighting Darth Vader and still completed his hero's journey, but then it wouldn't have been as comprehensive of an experience. So, if this new movie is simply filling the quota of a strong female lead who happens to know everything and is also going to save the Rebels so that A New Hope happens, then I will be just as disappointed (well, except I had pretty low expectations after seeing the trailer for TFA, so I guess just frustrated at what Disney is doing?) Now to hopefully put a nail in this debate about the Death Star run, Luke and wedge were in the flight, but were covered by the rest of their wing. Luke was part of the group that used them as a distraction to get into the Death Star trench. If he had fought or killed any Ties, then you might have a point, but all he had to do was fly in the trench and avoid the walls and possibly the turbolasers if he wandered too far to the side. This required no dogfight training, and could easily be put into a flight simulator for preparations prior to the launch.

What the heck? Are you seriously using the new expanded universe to excuse a glaring plothole? The book has its own share of logical inconsistencies to justify its ridiculous claims. It just says she worked with two other mechanics to repair the light freighter and then apparently the two other unknown mechanics flew off with it.. That is honestly the laziest.. just c'mon, if If she had such a "knack" for repairing things not integral to the plot, the why was she even on that backwater planet working for 1/4 of the food required to survive living inside of the shell of a downed AT AT instead of rebuilding it into something more useful? How can you justify that she is actually that skilled if she needed the other two to help her repair the thing (Gothroc)? If she's so renowned for her skill in repairing things, why isn't she in some mechanic's shop within the city, working orders for the spaceport or visitors? Why would a Y-Wing have an encyclopedia of Alien species in its flight computer; why would any military vehicle have its computer banks flooded with that kind of information? Honestly, why would a Y-Wing even have a flight simulator clogging its memory banks? If that planet was visited by so many species that she needed to know several languages, why was the spaceport so pitifully small? (What, do they export rare ship parts across the star system?) Tatooine makes sense. Luke's situation leaves him stuck on the planet since he frankly couldn't survive in somewhere as rowdy as Mos Eisely to eventually find a way off-planet. The planet has so much traffic because of how freakishly huge that one city is, and the local crime boss ensures all manner of different creatures frequent its star ports. What's the deal with Jakku, and more importantly, where is this unique life experience that makes Rey capable of honing her so-called mechanical skill to the point that she's rebuilding entire derilict starships? Regarding the Falcon, I meant that with any jury-rigged vehicle, starship or otherwise will not operate under "normal" conditions, and just because you know about vehicles does not mean you would know how to operate them. If say, Han didn't want people to steal the Falcon when he's staying in a spaceport, would he not possibly remove some necessary components so that that cannot happen as easily? I meant that literally opening or closing the landing bay doors could make no sense to anyone but the smuggler that owns that ship. Also, Rey has a speeder in the film, not a snubfighter, and definitely not a freighter. The kind of scale differences are astronomical between the two. This is like someone who drives a moped to work versus someone who drives a semi truck on the highway. The skillsets are hardly comparable, and most definitely not as easily transferable. Regarding flying a snubfighter, I wasn't referring to the targeting computer. I was referring to the flight computer. The Autopilot function is standard in many aircraft to allow the pilot to steer and maintain altitude without needing to make the adjustments to compensate for angle and to keep the aircraft in the sky. Anyone with experience with g-forces and basic navigation could theoretically fly one. Plus space has no airflow to compensate for, and so all the pilot would need to do is outmaneuver the enemy pilots. Since Luke wasn't fighting the Tie Fighters one-on-one, he didn't need any stellar dogfighting skill. He just needed to know how to fly in narrow corridors and aim properly; which he was quite familiar with in flying the narrow canyons of Tatooine and "bullseying womprats".

"Likely served" has no basis in what we're shown in the film. She drives the cheapest, most simplistic hoversled variant imaginable and barely makes enough money FROM RIPPING OUT parts that may "seem" valuable to the right buyer (who happens to be the only person in the region buying random bits of metal) There is no more skill required for that task other than a hydrospanner or curved piece of iron. If she, say, flew experimental aircraft at teeth-rattling speeds or maintained a clearly marginally wealthy vapor farmer's fleet of droids, then I might assume she had a mechanic's or pilot's background. However, from what I'm shown in the film, she might have a knack for haggling or hustling money off of people to survive, but to assume she knew anything, let alone the very esoteric specs of the Millennium Falcon which, might I add, is maintained and only understood by a starship pilot with at least 20 years of experience flying, repairing, and innovating freighter class starships. Only a subject matter expert in that field with massive amounts of experience would even notice the subtleties that were no doubt interlaced within the Falcon's electronics to even do something as simple as closing the landing bay doors. Now as for your criticism of Luke, One, he used the computer for most of the time in the X-Wing, and Two, he wasn't just good at repairing electronics he FLEW a skyhopper at insane speeds for fun before he joined up with the alliance, so a snubfighter being of a similar build isn't that far of a stretch.

My question is how she knew how to fly and maintain a starship when all she did was salvage scraps from them for a meager living. That's like saying a person who steals hubcaps knows how to drive a supercar or rebuild its engine.

He didn't say the storyline was garbage. He said that Disney has a policy to force female leads into upcoming films.. The reason there are no Yuzhaan Vong films is that Disney's current policy is also to expunge from public thought anything related to the EU for the purpose of rebuilding it according to their purposes.

Dang.. I really shouldn't comment when I'm half-awake.. Anyway....I shall endeavor to get back on topic

Crap. I stand by my previous points, but perhaps we could have an optional mod for those of us who prefer the original quest..unless it already does exist, and I somehow forgot about that mod as well...

I disagree that fan VA is always awful. Zhaboka has fantastic Voice Acting. (And SH ) Also, Kaevee was actually in the game files, so this was bad "professional" Voice acting...

What was your first KotOR/TSL mod?

I thought that was by Team Iriaz..
