3 pointsHi everyone I know a few of you have been asking about the status of the KotOR Level Editor (KLE) project. I'm happy to announce that it's finally ready for a (very early alpha) release. I've made the KotOR Level Editor GitHub page public - please remember it's in early alpha. That said, hope some of you find it useful Find the repo at https://github.com/lachjames/NorthernLights/ My goal is to post this to DeadlyStream in the near future, but for now you'll need to download and install it via GitHub. If you'd like to try it out, please follow the instructions on the linked GitHub page's README. Feel free to DM me, reply to this post, add an issue, etc. if you have issues. For those who are new to KLE, you can find an introductory video listing the features of KLE on YouTube (included below). There is also a (work in progress) KLE guide, as well as a general KotOR/TSL modding guide, at https://github.com/lachjames/KotOR-Modding-Guide Thanks everyone for your help - hopefully this is just a taste of what is to come regarding both KLE and the Northern Lights project in general - with the amount of support I've received so far from you all, there is no doubt in my mind that this is the case.

1 pointOkay, I lied, it's the other way around. New version live now, adds Auto-Shield Protocol, Applied Knowledge and Last Stand.

1 pointFor correctness' sake, the OBB file, at least in the Android version (I haven't looked at the iOS version at all so far), isn't exactly encrypted. In fact, the files themselves aren't even compressed, but the resource list is zlib-compressed. I've looked at the files a few days ago, planning to extent the unobb tool in xoreos-tools to make it read them as well: https://github.com/xoreos/xoreos-tools/issues/69 TL;DR: The KotOR2 Android OBBs, just like the Jade Empire Android OBBs, are a "virtual filesystem" (their terminology, they called their obb reading library libobbvfs.so). Essentially, the Jade Empire files were stored in 4096 byte blocks, zlib-compressed, with a zlib-compressed resource list at the end of the file. The KotOR2 ones are similar in principle, just that the files themselves are uncompressed for some reason. The resource list is still zlib-compressed though and has the exact same layout. There are some differences in how I have to go about locating the resource list, though, and I'm currently a bit unsure how to go about it. Potentially, the solution is in finding out how one thing I so far ignored in the file works, a list of blocks. If that exists in the KotOR2 files as well, that is, I haven't checked. If everything fails, I'll just add a simple auto-detection heuristics with a command line flag to override that, but that feels a bit dirty. I'll play around it a bit more over the coming days. If anybody else has already looked at the OBB files, feels free to ping me, maybe we can collaborate a bit there. If nobody even cares about reading those, feel free to ignore me EDIT: See https://github.com/xoreos/xoreos-tools/blob/master/src/aurora/obbfile.h and https://github.com/xoreos/xoreos-tools/blob/master/src/aurora/obbfile.cpp for more details on the current code that can read the Jade Empire files. Still unextended with my KotOR2 stuff, because that's still WIP and hacky

1 pointI have just discovered a complete (or very near complete) backup/archive of LF on another site, which includes the four tutorials forums that were on LF. The links are below: https://forums.mixnmojo.com/forum/439-tutorials-general-tutorials-tools/ https://forums.mixnmojo.com/forum/440-tutorials-skinning-and-modeling/ https://forums.mixnmojo.com/forum/441-tutorials-2da-editing/ https://forums.mixnmojo.com/forum/442-tutorials-scripting/ Users are advised that all information here may be somewhat out of date, particularly with regard to tools like mdlops.

1 pointNot nostalgia bringing me back, it was people keeping sending me messages asking about it, hah. Next objective is to port the mod back to K1, then start adding more feats.

1 pointSomething magical happened, and I'm sure all of you know what exactly it is! It inspired me to make this "flashback tribute", and to be honest, I've been tearing up a bit during editing xD. Hope you'll enjoy this! (YouTube being very draconian, unfortunately, so I hope you don't mind the choice of hosting) Merry Christmas! https://mega.nz/file/oaZ23BpY#1MMkBOcMc4wwoF6Gk3nQs3o6eJhnI5w7G4W5AiBJ66c

1 pointI did exactly what’s being described above in my Carth’s Republic Uniform and Flight Suit mod a few years back. I added a new feat to Carth so that the item was restricted to him and couldn’t be used by anyone else. The mod is still available in the downloads section if you want to pick it apart and see how it works.

1 pointThey all have some sort of device at the back of the neck/head: I did consider adding a tank, but they already clip with a lot of hair, so adding more junk isn't likely to make things better. And there is no way to make them a skinned mesh outside of incorporating them into the head model (or going for a full body model), so trying to add stuff that extends past the head is pretty much a non-starter. Perhaps that could be an option for a specific NPC version. I was thinking about maybe trying something akin to the Cad Bane look, since there is also that style of hat available in TOR.

1 pointI like this one as a replacement for I_Mask_006, more than the fighter pilot type mask with the hoses above. (Though I do like that mask ...)
-
1 pointAnother breath mask option: There's a lot of fixing required for some of these due to backface culling issues.
