About This File

This mod intends to address key issues with male Twi'lek heads in KOTOR II, most notably the addition of ear geometry.

The main improvements are the addition of ears and slimming down on the Bib Fortuna necks. Other tweaks include better smoothing groups, fixed teeth and eyelids, and recolored tongues. The ears were created using modified assets ported from SWTOR.

There's two options for installation. Option A uses the slim necks, while Option B retains the original necks. I highly recommend the first option as it fixes clipping with collars on heavy armor and it's the main choice for other mods which use my files.

Given the frequency of Twi'lek NPCs, this mod's a nice visual improvement that adds a much-needed element of consistency with other humanoid head models in the game.

The KOTOR I version can be found here.

It is a fantastic mod and strongly recommended.

I do have one suggestion, and that would be another download option for .tga format. If a user unknowingly installs .tpc files on top of .tga you get some really weird bugs like stretched faces.

Stretched faces, like this?  I've been meaning to go back and reinstall this mod, but maybe I can't use it because of the .tpc files.  Is there a way to figure out if my base game uses the .tga format instead, to where I'm overwriting .tga with .tpc files?

@Cinamyn @MasterKriebel You can fix that by looking for files of the same name in your override folder (search, sort by name, etc.). Delete the ones with .tga and .txi extensions.

I don't know of any other mods that retexture male Twi'lek heads, but older versions of this mod did use TGA files, which the game tends to prefer in override over TPCs. If you installed a new version of this mod on top of an old one, then that's probably the culprit. I'll include a note on this page and the K1 variant. The stretching horrified me in the test phase, so my apologies you had to witness it too!

@Ashton Scorpius  I was going off the r/kotor community build, so while I assumed just going in order was all I needed, I saw these faces and just thought, "Well, I'll troubleshoot it before my next game, because I've got 80-something mods installed."  (Any mods outside the community build were installed after, and I know none of them are touching the Twilek head files.)

Anyway, I'm glad to know it's an easy fix.  Luckily for this game, I took a ton of notes on what files were moved where, so tracking down any problematic files shouldn't take me long at all :)  (I was worried because I've also had issues with the r/kotor mod build for KOTOR 1, but I need to reinstall that game anyway.)

Update:  Now that I (finally) sat down to troubleshoot my stretched faces...  My issue was that I hadn't moved anything over from the Textures folder to my Override folder.  Just found my spelunking friend and his face is back to normal!

Which raises one question...do I also need to move the komad, zhar, and xor texture files from the Textures folder?  I thought those three only appeared in M478 and K1, respectively.  Apologies for the dumb question.  Zhar and Xor's faces are reused for some of the Twilek models, as I discovered when I went back to Telos.  It sounds like Komadh's texture is the only optional one since he's only in M478.
