When I started playing KotOR/TSL I....

Recommended Posts

The Cantina Door thing happened to me, too...

Also, I didn't understand that I had to put something else to the corpse pile with that synthetic odor, too. :D

Yeah I messed up the corpse pile thing too. I spent ages on Taris.

I still rarely make my party members Jedi in TSL, simply because I never knew about the possibility in my first playthroughs and now it just feels weird for some of them to be Jedi as I know them as non-Jedi characters.

So yeah, it took me I don't know how long to learn of this possibility... oh and I was soooo scared of Peragus the first times I played TSL. Creepy place :|

Sion. Just.... Sion. He scared the hell out of me xD

I remember the first time going into the Enclave Sublevel for some reason I was paranoid he would be there. That statue in the room you meet Mical looked off to me so I approached with caution for some reason thinking it could have been Sion

The mind of a child....

When I started playing KotOR, I did not know that you could side with the Elders. I thought siding with the Rakata was the only way to go.

Heh. For me it was the opposite -- I didn't know that there was an option besides siding with the Elders.

I would use the hit and run tactic on everyone in the arena so I could get a very large amount of credits at the begging, if you press the attack button and are able to land a hit on your enemies and then you quickly run away there is a good chance their hit will not count, for twitch I would go in and attack with melee when he had his blaster out and I'd attack with my blaster when he had his sword out ect... It is a good way to win against all of the people in the arena, however you may have to reload your save games and retry about a hundred million times once you get to ice and up...

Also, my first run at TSL: I hadn't played K1 before it, because my system was acting crashy (bought them both at the same time, KotOR Collection) and I managed to get TSL to run, first. So, I was wondering "Who is this Revan guy, and how come they don't know if he is male or female?"

Don't remember much from it other than I skipped a lot of the sidequests, was pretty terrible at combat and I didn't get the murder investigation correct.

RPG Expert... didn't made a lot of the mistakes mentioned, forunately.

I did (and still do, withholding leveling is just sucky powerleveling IMO and I have no part of it) level regularly 8-12.

Guess the worst I can remember now is getting locked out of Manaan (after being executed a wholesome dozen+ times in various trials), and on the second planet getting the GenoHaradan "go to Manaan"... eeeeh.

Yup, that boring.

I just keep thinking of new things...

I didn't properly understand how I was supposed to deal with the firaxan on Manaan without poisoning it. After a while of trying in vain to do so, I ended up just poisoning it and moving on. Upon finding out that I would get dark side points from poisoning it, I immediately went back and then went to look for a walkthrough .

With the restored content in K1R, I believe it's actually possible to reach level 9 by the end of Taris....

It's possible to do so without K1R as well. I did it once, but am not sure how exactly I did it. It was when I was going neutral though.

I was one of those "sucky powerleveling" folks until fairly recently, except I used each level-up as an instant health refill if I was close to death in combat. :D

And that murder/carnage trial in Manaan.. I got killed so many times due to my tried and true tactic of clicking through every dialogue option available to me..

Almost as bad as how long it took me to figure out the Kolto Harvester puzzle, which was achieved by clicking at random over and over...which, by the way, was my method of getting through most puzzles in the game. :D

And Juhani.. Every time I failed, I just reclicked everything until by some miracle she accepted my help in turning her from the Dark Side.. You can imagine how the first murder trial on Dantooine went.....

The first time I played KOTOR, it felt like it was freaking gigantic. I remember just getting to the Undercity felt like a huge triumph. Then I got stuck at the rancor, quit it for I don't even know how long, and eventually found the solution somewhere. Then I discovered that my copy had a bug where it would crash every time I tried to get to Dantooine.

So yeah, for a while, my experience with KOTOR in general was just going through Taris a bunch. Maybe that's why it feels like all the other planets in KOTOR are tiny compared to Taris.

I felt that all the other planets were small compared to Taris as well. Taris just has a lot more stuff in it, I guess.

I had the same feeling of the game being really gigantic... I miss that feeling now.

Reminds me of how, for whatever reason, my computer would not play TSL for YEARS. I have no idea why when it did before. Something about an "abnormal startup" or whatever. It was a good 8 years before I bought the collection and played it again

Then I finished it in one day.... without dialogue skips. And making everyone Jedi

Granted, I didn't have any mods, but still

I became acquainted with the games in reverse.

When I first played TSL, I deliberately had to choose the Ithorians because of the glitched Czerka bay door at the end of the questline.

When I first played K1, I went "wow, these player animations are inferior to the other game." Then I found out Bioware did the first one, and Obsidian did the second.

When I was even more "green" than I am now, I always set my attributes up so they were at 0 penalty/bonus, then proceeded to use whatever points were left over to increase my "favored" stats. I'm just about to play again for the first time in a while, so we'll see what happens.

P.S. If there's a way of killing the Rancor other than rigging the corpse pile, can someone tell me?

Huh, I'm pretty sure that I still use that strategy for attributes, at least when I'm not going for a specific build.

I've never managed to hit the Rancor with an attack, but I've killed it by using most of the mines from the Undercity and sewers before.

Sounds like someone has a high Demolitions skill. :nuke:

Yeah, I find that one of the most useful for me, so I often like to keep some points in it. There's also Mission...

I just use mission for that sort of thing

There's that too, although you can't use her everywhere and sometimes you might want a better fighter...

I think this is the part where everybody just has their own individual playing style. No harm in that, right?
