    Fun with explosives

Nah. Just testing the weapon sound-effects. They just happened to be in the way... Atton likes to melee for some reason Bao: wrong place, wrong time
  2. Well, I meant changing HOTOR into TSSM. You said you wished you never made it, so I assumed you just wanted to replace it with TSSM. I like HOTOR personally, so I'm trying to compromise, yet keep it compatible. I don't want to hijack this thread either, so I can start a new thread or we can PM for further discussion. (If you want)
  3. Finally got animated textures working! Turns out my photohop tga exporter was causing problems

I just edited some animated effect textures and they actually animate properly! It was so simple, but I was stumped forever on it. (I just shouldn't have saved them as a PSD file and exported them as TGAs; it messes with the animation somehow)

I already have a few effects looking much better! (Think spell animations)

I am next going to test some custom animations via a txi once I create the TGA.

My suggestion, friend, is to write a tutorial with step-by-step instructions, with an example piece, and post it on here and at Holowan Labs. Many people will thank you!

  4. Does TSSM still have all of those historical descriptions for the hilts that HOTOR had? That was the part I liked most about it. Also, what file do I have to change to keep the original Bao Dur script, because I'm a purist and actually like the original approach Obsidian took for a lightsaber quest. Edit__ Also wouldn't the hilts more likely match the Knights of the Old Republic comic from the late 80s/early 90s rather than TOR, since most of the saber owners mentioned in the descriptions were from there?
  5. Nope. It was just something that was neat. I will redouble my efforts..
  6. Well, when I walked into thee outcast village to talk to Rukil, I heard blasterfire and saw myself getting several +30 xp. Based on my previous experience, I knew this was a sign that some npcs were fighting somewhere. So I walked outside the gate to see who was fighting and only saw Rakghouls; albeit missing about half health. I concluded that some npcs had spawned in the rakghoul area and were swarmed. I said "nice" because it added a level of immersion where I felt like I wasn't the only one down there, and by extension, the level felt more dynamic. (which is cool) (I don't know whether you meant for it to happen or not, but it was a neat experience; also, there must have been a lot of npcs, because I kept earning exp (rakghouls being killed) quite a few times.)
  7. Something I just noticed on my playthrough: The outcasts leave the children behind!!! *erm The children aren't removed from the outcast village when they leave on their quest. I also had some random npc fighting rakghouls when I had just gotten into the village. nice... Also a suggestion/request on something: Could you maybe in the future make the doors to the sith base unusable unless opened by T3? At that arc of the story he becomes all-but useless and it makes me wonder thematically why I even bought him. [just some crazy idea I had so that the character wouldn't be able to access the sith base using the uniform without T3; hey if you have a better solution already in the works, at least I got my thought out] One weird way I thought about making it impossible for the main character wearing the Sith Uniform to get in is to have a dialog that asks for the identification passcard, and since the character doesn't have one, they can only terminate the conversation. And when T3M4 comes up, instead of the aforementioned conversation, the option to bypass security protocols appears. [/some crazy idea]
  8. It was missing for me. I just thought you were supposed to kill the droid just, because. :Darkside:
  9. One thing, did you visit Dantooine early in your list of planets? The only mod that actually affects difficulty levels is the balance mod, but the Any Spell Mod could be making you too powerful too quickly. The reason Force Wave is restricted to higher levels is because it is so OP anyway, and I try to avoid using it if I want a challenge. The balancing mod should be making your game more difficult, so I don't know what's the deal with that. Edit_ After looking it over, the balancing mod changes a bunch of things among classes and damage and such. I'm thinking this could be your culprit. Edit_ Ninja'd
  10. I just got to the Vulkar sub-level, and I noticed the difficulty difference as well. However, I liked it!~ It was so much less of a cakewalk to infiltrate and made me actually use my secondary items that were piling up in my inventory. (and the extra goodies packed into the mod made it more rewarding in defeating said difficult enemies) I personally think that a good way you could make it less obvious that this is a modded level and keep the difficulty is to change the names of the enemies to something along the lines of, "Elite Vulkar Guard" or "Vulkar Lieutenant" to show that they are supposed to be harder enemies. Edit_ And the two Vulkars who managed to kill a member of the management need their own titles too. I doubt a low-level "thug" could assassinate someone that powerful and not at least have a title. ... At the very least "bewildered vulkar" would be better than "gang member". I mean the victim had his full name and everything~
  11. I just tested it. I fixed them (The journal said that I completed the quest and the computer read that the turrets were re-targeted to defend friendlies. When I interacted with the turrets, the only option was to sabotage them; which I did not do) and during the battle they attacked nothing.(Curiously though, the mercenaries shot one of them until it was destroyed.)
  12. I mean the models actually are not showing their geometry on certain sides. As in parts of the model are literally see-through. If my screenshot is compared to this image you will see that parts are missing from the turret. This may have been in the original version, and Obsidian just didn't expect anyone to see the turrets from that angle, but regardless it is still noticeable when their are cameras at each turret. An idea I had to make this better was to have the camera angle higher on it or at a barrel angle , but that could just be more trouble than it's worth. Another thing I noticed is that no matter how much I "fix" them, the turrets don't help me at all in the battle. They don't even fire.
  13. Okay. I don't want to make you do so much work when the mod is rather close to being done. I just thought it looked odd, but if the solution is that much extra work, I say it's fine then. Incidentally, did your turret models also have invisible/see-through sections like in the screenshot? (I can clarify if necessary)
  14. I forgot to mention it before, but I noticed that when you interact with the turret on the right side of the main entrance in front of Khoonda, the camera looks like it clips through the turret.
  15. The whole sith party was rather buggy for me. I too noticed that the sith partygoers didn't pass out, but in addition to that, the lipsync wasn't animating for a majority of the conversation with Sarna after she invited me to the party; and during the entire party there was no lipsync. For me, the quest line didn't update, so I had to already know what to do in order to get into the undercity without the journal. I was able to progress the story, but the quest remained unresolved in the journal list. It still says that I was invited to the party.
  16. You're right, I'm horrified.
  17. I much liked Shadows of the Empire as well. I wish that they had more media for it, but the novel (both graphic and written) was well done, and the N64 game was alright. I only wish that they had made a movie before the stars got old, but there's always animation... I wouldn't mind another game either. I think the Clone Wars project has been beaten over and over and over... I just want it to end. Fun Fact: The Clone Wars technically ended with the Republic publication by Dark Horse a few years ago. The animated snippets by Tartrakovsky were created to fill in any important battles that were missed. (Heck the novels have even more battles previously undiscussed) Once all of the major battles and character development were finished we had a realistic timeline of the war's actual duration already. I personally think that since the Clone Wars Cartoon has been going on so long, that instead of adding in extra information about the war, it has been rewriting already established battles and events in order to continue airing. If you look on the StarWars wiki, you will see pictures from the cartoon in nearly anything to do with the Clone Wars or anything even remotely similar. </rant> That said, I liked all of the comics and games (and the Gendy Tartrakovsky mini-series) that centered around the conflict. Republic Commando was indeed quite good; kind of a shame that they left it at a cliffhanger ending with no sequel on the horizon. (And why won't they fix that stupid bumpmapping issue!) TFU had Sooo much potential, but squandered it when it started to pick up. (I would suggest to check out the graphic novel though) I really like the "actual" Old Republic as in the old comic series, the new comic series (the work in the series by Brian Ching and whoever is the colorist are incredible BTW), and the KOTOR video games. The MMO is an entirely different thing though. Frankly the barriers to entry such as a subscription (Plus my card can't run it) have made it less of a pleasant experience for me. I also wish that Revan was less of a punk in the story and more of a super crazy JEDI MASTER, like he was in the Mandalorian Wars.
  18. To quote Wookiepedia's quote from the Rise of Darth Vader: The article further says that the color does not match the jedi's personality, but that red blades are associated with the sith since they are generally more powerful and "easier" to produce; and as such were frowned on by popular jedi culture. (The full article)
  19. Noted. Do not update the drivers for AMD cards if you want to play KOTOR, apparently.
  20. I am voting erm...5. I agree with everything with 3 except for two things. 1. I think that if Tobin falls to his knees it would just be redundant to what happens to Visas and basically everyone Kreia confronts. I prefer the lifting animation for its uniqueness and that Nihilis really needs more scene presence. 2. I believe that Nihilis is kind of understated as it is, and if this guy is a physical embodiment of Darkside energy, he should at least walk rather than cross his arms. When I saw the clip, I thought it made the scene more tense when Nihilis ominously walked toward Tobin; While I watched the scene, I was thinking, "If he can choke out Visas when he just points at her, imagine what would happen if he's actually getting up close to confront someone" I also think it shows just how much Tobin ticked him off walking up to him, unannounced.
  21. I'd like to throw my hat into the ring: I liked version two better, because I kind of hate how an NPC is CLEARLY incapacitated by horror or something similar (choking), and can still belt out an entire speech. I find it much more realistic that he is pulling himself up in order to breathe and gasping out what few words he can manage. Also, if he is writhing the entire time (with his head flailing about), how is he able to keep his voice level? Edit__ That said, I like version two better.
  22. Maybe Or it could also be that Male Shepard had the worst social graces of basically any lead character. For example: What it says onscreen to say: "I'm sorry that you are feeling so bad about this") What Male Shepard actually says:"So you had better buck-up, whiner; it's your fault all of this happened" (And this was the Paragon response!) In ME2 when you are talking to your science crewmember (the Salarian, I can't really remember his name) He mentions an afterlife after viewing a particularly gruesome spectacle of someone he cared about, and when you choose the response, "You don't normally mention your beliefs" Your character blurts out (with a smirk) "I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE RELIGIOUS!"
  23. Another text based thing: The Zhug Brother present in the Pre-NarShaddaa cutscene on Goto's Yacht says to Hanharr "You were carried too far from the world of trees maybe too far" the first "too" is redundant. Screenshot:
  24. Things I am interested in knowing regarding the proceedings: Will things Star Wars related still have to be reviewed by Lucas for approval?, Will his "replacement" honor his wishes of holding off on doing more Star Wars movies? Most importantly, who will end up owning the Star Wars franchise as a whole, after his retirement?
  25. Curiously the living officer is actually wearing a slightly different uniform than the dead one. Upon comparing screenshots, I can see his collar is bigger and the zipper doesn't go all the way up in the living one.
