      Just got fixed. I was having the black screen with no cursor issue. I had tried the use the last known good configuration option which hadn't worked before but did about 5 minutes ago. Works for now.

      In my search to find one of my external hard drives, I found the box where I stored my Yankee Candles for the trip from Alaska to where I am now.  One of those candles - a Balsam and Cedar one - apparently melted a little.  The whole box was saturated with the smell.  So the room with my computer in it currently smells like a nightmarish version of Christmas.  And I didn't find that particular external hard drive yet! LOL
