  1. well ndix, i have a 1080 resolution on my monitor, so i would like to test it out as long as i can back up the original files first that you alter. i remember when the freelancer community finally successfully cracked the exe for that game, and a lot of stuff that was hard coded could be changed and they figured that out. after a while of testing, they went ahead amd released a patched exe that was bug free that enabled a lot of new things, like dx9-10 support, and some other very great improvements, such as i believe dds support and bump mapping, and some new effects that were not possible before. (bloom etc) and this stuff was unheard of before, and it took a lot of genuises to finally do it. since they did not even have the source code to examine and that particular exe had a lot of weird stuff in it. once they did that then they were able to use hooking extensively to push the engine to do things it was not able to do before, like land a ship on a moving carrier, which was a cool feature, or being able to fast travel without using the rings and fixed paths that dominated freelancer and broke immersion. it also enabled hyperspace jump to other systems from wherever you were in the system you were in, so you did not need to find the waypoint that acted as a gate or even make it there, hooking spawned the gate in front of you and triggered the jump. but none of that was possible til they cracked the exe and experimented with it. so i am sure a lot of the hard coded stuff in there can be changed with little issue. within reason of course. so it is possible to hack the exe, it is just a matter of testing it and then either being able to patch it or release a patched version only as a kotor mod, as long as it is bug free. im kind of leery of a patcher injecting new code into an exe, but a patched version i would be interested in seeing.
  2. how about this one? and i do not want to know what model they tested this on. lol but yes this is the console texture with the baby pics in it. probably a new dad or mom sneaking it in there.
  3. I like this texture, even if it is pretty clean compared to the surroundings, but it is a vast improvement on the vanilla. Unfortunately i was not able to view the finished product in game, because i do not have a save that far in, so i will try later to check it out. So the only model i could see it on was the one you sent me that had unfinished UVs on it. or maybe i was pointing blender to the wrong stuff. But that is no big deal. it looks like a solid piece of work. Since i dont use mdlops 0.7 yet, there is a difference between your bin model and what TSL usually outputs, thus the reason for my difficulty converting it to ascii. so thanks for the conversion.
  4. Disney executives all are stuck in this fantasy that they have to make everyone smiling happy bufoons that feel good, and so they are happy smiling bufoons in the board room when they reveiw the average disney film trailer, so when a dark trailer comes out and they dont feel like it is their brand, they get uncomfortable. as long as disney has the star wars franchise, they will not take any risks, or rather the board will not, because they cant think outside the established brand... they will keep making entertainment for the preschool demographic, and they will keep picking stupid villain names like supreme leader snoke and happy dapp... cmon, really? happy-dapp? that is a throwback to some unused 1960's character names from the disney unused names gallery or something. cant you hear donald duck saying that 50 times?
  5. Well so far Kha is unreachable by the email provided, and cjto202 has Kha's and mjpb3's mods hosted there in one spot, so that may be a dead end. They may not be active any more, but there are some people who still know them, so I may be able to reach them yet. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the first two modders in the above list, then please contact me in my PM with the best method to reach them, unless it is Lucas forums because I have already sent everyone PMs through that forum. If those should fail reaching the intended parties then I may just have to release the head and body textures and suggest the other parts and mods I used to compile this. EDIT: I just learned some new information that is actually quite relieving, due to the creative commons license of this particular chain of content, I only have to credit the original modders to modify their content from the original mod. Now I still have to obtain proper permission from anyone whose content was not in this mod that I wish to use or would like to direct other users to as an enhancement to the mod, so I will be releasing this soon. I have gotten the proper permissions to use the body, and even some help from some of the guys and gals who contributed to this in the past. Both of the modified Selene textures are derivatives of the Mjpb3 texture for Kha's head that was used in both of the Juhani mods previously. And I just got permission to use that as well as the Cerez texture as a base for my derivative. Once I have permission for the head I will be well on my way to release. All parties will get the proper credit in the lineage of this mod. And here is a new pic because I now have the seam between the head and body almost invisible to the naked eye.
  6. I was completely oblivious, except for the parts about the tournament, and the getting people drunk. i always did like it when developers put those types of ridiculous things in games, who doesnt like to hear drunken voice acting?
  7. Well, there is always nostalgia. If there is a difference and someone just has to play this version of it.
  8. So yes they had a two week window to salvage the original filefront data.
  9. Original Post 28 May 2016 - 05:58 PM [EST] How about I make a mask based on your avatar? Quick Update: I just read the permission message from Silveredge9 to do his skins over for his mask mods, so I will be handing that over to him sometime soon unless he is OK with me uploading it myself. I have to get clarification first. I will also hand over the fixed models he needs to upgrade his own mod as well.
  10. Sounds good! I really cant wait to see the great results! It is OK to be a bit nitpicky: we all do it - and self scrutinize.
  11. Thanks for the tip Miles, i have been successful doing that before, so i must have had a momentary lapse of memory lol. EDIT: i did gain permission but unfortunately either my internet is buggy or LucasForums is trimming the old forums due to inactivity so i cannot retrieve my PMs from there. i guess i have been absent long enough for those forums to be scrubbed. Usually i screen cap PMs just in case but i failed to do that this time around.

  13. So ndix still is not done yet? Hmmmm. I guess I could send him a PM and see what is going on or if he needs a bit of help.
  14. Meh.... Potato, Tomato... if you get that little joke i swear you will start using it...
  15. I can’t seem to contact him about this so I posted this hoping he would find it or hear of it. Seems his inbox is so full he can’t receive messages any more. Maybe I need to dig out the read me and see if there is an email address.
  16. Not quite. The modder Cerez from over on JKhub did the texture I used as a template for that. Although the head could be a repurposed vanilla head, it could also be Shem's work on a vanilla head. It depends on if Shem actually altered the model or not. If he did then I have to give him credit for the model, if not then I can mention him due to the mod he did. I also got Cerez permission this morning after a lengthy discussion about Linux and modding. Pretty cool. The vanilla style clothing texture is by RedRob, and the other Clothing textures I want to use but modified belong to Darth Jaden who I can’t find anything but email to contact with. The underwear is a combination of vanilla and my own work, but I did get some ideas from the bra and panties on one of the Bastila mods. I wanted to try and use the Juhani's cat like head for the base of the underwear texture but it turned out crappy so I started over with the vanilla one out of the game itself. I got the gold ornament idea on the bra from that mod but instead of pearls (which were stretching badly which is another reason I ditched the texture) I just used the same basic idea but a gold ornament instead of pearls. It is taking too long to do all this hand painting. I do much better on the gadgets than on organic textures, even though I can draw portraits of this kind of thing, texturing is way different. It took me no time at all to make the head look like a house cat, but when it is on the model it does not look like she’s a house cat lol. But the body has taken me several days to work on, and I am about ready to throw the towel in. The feet stretch really badly so I had to use the UVs as a template to make the leather on the shoes so it doesn’t stretch, and even then I had to get creative to hide the issues there. I really don’t like the raised bra straps and wish I could edit those out but that means maybe a failed model export attempt I am not really ready for yet. Besides that not many people use the underwear, and I just wanted to get it done so it looks right instead of showing a really obvious seam between the head and body. But at this point I think it is good enough. This will probably be just a texture replacer besides the head replacer. I’m trying to get a hold of all parties involved so anyone who likes what I did for my own game can get a copy. In my first post I mentioned I did this to solve the problems of Juhani's ears clipping my masks and it works great. I just did not like the dark hair and human skin textures that both Shem and Cerez used on their mods. Modding is usually born of necessity or boredom, and that is where I am coming from on this one. EDIT: well i found out the head came from Kha, and Shem did the original juhani texture for it, which Cerez modified, so he is in the chain of credit. And there are a host of other modders in the chain, so i have my work cut out for me finding them all. Model: Kha Skin: Mjpb3 Juhani Mod and Cathar Reskin: Shem Cathar Model Tweaks: ? New Cathar Reskin and Icon: Cerez
  17. From the old policy pages on GameFront, there are several loop holes that made this possible from a legal perspective and in short, GameFront basically had to give consent without specific user consent for this to even occur. But as far as I can tell the average user did not even understand the policy change let alone protest at the right time, which would have been when they enacted the new policies, and as such, a user's continued use, and lack of protest at that time was consent in their eyes. So be mad at FileFront/GameFront. As well as this, but only a partial post of the original policy changes is available in the linked forum topic: and I am sure there was similar language in that policy announcement. https://forums.beyondunreal.com/threads/gamefront-file-storing-policy-changed.198647/ So leaving mods hosted there and not removing them at the appropriate time (2-4 years ago) made them free game and continuing use of the site allowed them to do whatever they wanted with files, and descriptions of those files, which can fall under the personal information loophole posted on the site. By relinquishing the mods to nexus, they were fully within bounds according to their policy announcements, and users consented by lack of protest or continued use of the site after they announced their policy changes repeatedly. This not only allowed them to move files to archive.org, but wherever they chose to. This would not even have been facilitated unless what remained of GameFront was helping make it happen, and it was researched by their lawyers and in conjunction with that, some legal maneuvering was done within conversation with nexus staff prior to them handing over possession of the files to nexus. That had to happen before this ever started. Now since nexus is complying with user requests to delete mods, that they actually legally acquired from GameFront, it proves they are willing to do the right/moral thing in spite of the fact they could deny those requests legally. They don’t necessarily have to comply but they are. Plus I get the feeling that former GameFront staff wanted a better solution than archive.org, which has no provisions for modders rights, and is not exactly the best way to present such files or user protections. So there is a silver lining to all this. These mods are actually in better hands than GameFront who turned their policies against modders rights toward the end. Legal does not mean its right or even moral, but it is legal. So why even post the description? Can you think of a better more transparent way to ensure the proper people are credited or keep track of who authored a mod? Seems like a solid system of keeping track of that, and I cannot think of a better way to do it. But of course I bet the same people complaining about that would complain if there were no credits posted at all. They are putting all these files out in the open so you can be involved in the process completely, and it streamlines the process because people who really want them down can easily do a search and find their mods by using a key word search of words in the description, so they can specifically request its removal. I would be more worried if they were not being up front. Plus, the user name is simply a placeholder, and when the proper author is found it can be moved to their nexus account easily enough by admins. But there has to be some kind of user name used to upload them for people to even find out they exist, and there has to be some kind of accountability. So they posted the original description to make sure the mod authors were identified properly. Otherwise how would you know they had your files? They want you to be involved in this whether good or bad. That should be a relief. There is also incentive for them to take down mods since it frees up room on their servers, so of course they will comply. There is no need to ask them expecting a fight. They are taking the high road whether you guys see it or not, contrary to how GameFront was handling things. Anyway, I have made my point, and really don’t have much else to say on the subject. It sucks, but not much can be done. Such are the pitfalls of uploading on the internet. Beware.
  18. i think you are referring to the Empress Tetas Royal Band Restored By Darth Insidious. That is my texture for it. I tried to make it look as if it were gold and diamond encrusted with bits of silver. I hope to get some reflection on it in the future, but the limitations in gimp are not leping me. Perhaps if i can get an old installer of Photoshop to work then i can do it properly with the plugins designed for Kotor tga textures. That and the circlet of seresh are the only two i really need to add reflection to at this point. the rest are prety much already final. Of course if i can do that then i wil attempt to add in some animation and glowing that suppsoedly was on the vanilla models and textures, but that is something that will be added later. for now these work well enough.
  19. Maybe he just has a lazy eye? I know my mom does and I start to get OCD about it but trying to fix here eye probably would not go over very well... I guess anyone that is an animation god could do that for those that prefer the non lazy eye Vandar.
  20. I absolutely love what you did for the unused robes from K1, by texturing them to resemble things from an earlier time in the republic. I knew of these models previously and never really played them, but one day I got this idea, because the model shape is almost perfect for some hyperspace war era robes, so I want to eventually put some of those robes in the game using the models you revived, and give them a few new additional textures. Here is one I am working on and it will probably either depend on your mod to work, or be added in as a new slot. I’m not sure how it will work yet but DJ is trying to help me figure all that out. Anyway, this is my first reskin for the robe, and it will end up being the robe of Odan-Urr. I don’t know if it will work, but I attempted to fix the crossed faces on the loincloth and if it does work then I will let you know so you can have the updated model basically I took all the bad faces behind the ones closest to view, and deleted them, and then copied the front faces of both front and back of the loincloth, duplicated them, and then flipped the normals so they render the inside as well, which is what I think was intended but I am not sure. That is how come the UVs are correct now on the loincloth instead of looking terrible. I tried flipping the edges until the UVs were oriented right but that did not work very well and some of the texture was mapped wrong on the UVs, like back faces on the front texture, etc... Hopefully that works but who knows, maybe that will make it worse.
  21. after browsing a bit on the site here, i think it is the Prequel Robe Replacement 1.0, but a similar set of robes can be found in the Movie robe reskin 2.1 one replaces robes and the other just adds them to the base items.
  22. ndix should so put that kind of easter egg in there...
  23. that aint snarky, i get your point, but what i mean is that some things that were nice features or really useful and worked, got canned for no reason while they still ignore user suggested improvements and call it an upgrade to the program. and they could not make up their minds what key combinations to keep for a while, confuses the user. once it levelled off the program became eaier to use, and it finally started looking like an improvement with each version, but then some stuff that could have been ported to the new version were inexplicably removed for no good reason, and blender still has its bugs and weirdness in a few places. like the texture paint mode. why is it that i need something extra to download for it to work but there is nothing to download to make it work? should they not have included some default brushes and things in that part of the program just like in sculpt mode? why did they change the faked ambient occlusion to only work with a texture now? it used to work fine without a texture before since it was based on the native blender lighting rendering the shadows on the model. now i cant use it unless i have already baked an ambient occlusion layer, so it kind of seems counterintuitive. so some of the version 'upgrades' come with a bunch of unsecessary downgrades as well. i guess they seem to think that they have to punish users for making blender so much better each version by removing really nice features, or making some things impossible to use when they worked fine before. or making things more convoluted in some cases. sure there are some nice new features but some of the nice old ones got taken away when they could have just as easily been ported to the new python. it is easier to port old to new than new to old.
  24. It would look like Rancor skin. Heck, I don’t know if it would have a rancor insignia, but it would be noticeable. Rancor hides are pretty tough, so making robes or armor out of them would give them a unique look. Putting a logo on it kind of doesn’t really fit too well in my mind anyway, of what is usually in star wars. And I’m not sure there are any well known rancor leather crafters embossing local swoop bike colors on rancor jackets or anything. I guess I will have to brain storm.
  25. just a quick question. Did this get converted with mdlops 0.7? if so then that may be why i cant look at it in blender. I need to reinstall K2 so there is no way i can test it out.
