=Prologue Item Recovery= A KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II: THE SITH LORDS MODIFICATION AUTHOR: Leilukin FILE NAME: Prologue Item Recovery.7z LATEST VERSION: 1.0 CONTACT: E-mail toleilukin@outlook.com, or message to Leilukin on Deadly Stream 1. DESCRIPTION: In KotOR II: TSL, the prologue is a skippable tutorial sequence that involves T3-M4 saving the Ebon Hawk. However, even if you choose to play through the prologue, you do not get to keep the items you have obtained during the prologue. This mod changes that by spawning a plasteel cylinder that contains the items you can obtain from the prologue, allowing you to get the items back to your inventory, even if you decide to skip the prologue. You can find the plasteel cylinder in the secure cargo hold at the Peragus hangar bay. The location is chosen because it is where the Peragus mining facility staff store the cargos they searched from the Ebon Hawk, including the damaged 3C-FD. This mod will take effect as long as you have a save file at Peragus, including at the Peragus hangar bay, even if you have played past the section where you take control of T3-M4. 2. INSTALLATION: Extract the Prologue Item Recovery.7z you downloaded to anywhere you like, as long as it is not within the KotOR 2 directory. There are two methods to install this mod: Module Installation: Injects the mod's files into a MOD file from the game's Module folder. This method is recommended for players who have installed The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM). Override Installation: Involves the mod user putting the mod's files into the game's Override folder. INSTRUCTIONS FOR MODULE INSTALLATION: Run Install.exe, point the installer to your KotOR directory, where swkotor2.exe is located, and let the installer do its job. When you install this mod, a new folder named "backup" will be created by the installer in the same folder as the installer. Do not delete the folder or the file within the folder if you plan to uninstall this mod. INSTRUCTIONS FOR OVERRIDE INSTALLATION: Go to the "Override Installation" folder, copy and paste a_transformt3m4.ncs and llk_proitems.utp into the Override folder of your KotOR 2 directory. ***IMPORTANT NOTE FOR STEAM WORKSHOP USERS:*** If you have subscribed to the Steam Workshop version of TSLRCM, you must install this mod to TSLRCM's Steam Workshop folder instead of the main KOTOR 2 directory. The directory of the Steam Workshop version of TSLRCM is \Steam\SteamApps\Workshop\content\208580\485537937. The "Source" folder includes the source of the script used by this mod for modders' reference. Ignore the "Source" folder if you only want to install and play this mod. 3. UNINSTALLATION: If you used the Override Installation method, simply go to the Override folder in your KotOR 2 directory, and delete a_transformt3m4.ncs and llk_proitems.utp. If you used the Module Installation method, go to the backup folder, cut and paste 106PER.mod into the Modules folder in your KotOR 2 directory. 4. KNOWN ISSUES: None currently known. If you find any bugs or problems, please let me know. 5. MOD COMPATIBILITY: This mod is not compatible with any other mod that modifies the a_transformt3m4.ncs script, which is used for entering the Peragus Hangar Bay module (106PER). This mod is compatible with The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM). Make sure you install this mod after TSLRCM. I recommend using the Module Installation method to install this mod if you use TSLRCM. 6. PERMISSION: You may modify this mod for personal use or show this mod in screenshots. You may use the modified a_transformt3m4 script from this mod to make a compatibility patch with your mod, but do not claim the modification as your own. Do not use the custom placeable llk_proitems from this mod in your mod without my permission. Do not upload this mod to Steam Workshop. 7. Instead of linking to my previous blog about this, I'm going to quote the relevant portions and then move on from there to the new points. One thing that I don’t think I’ve previously discussed is the problem of voice overs of the character Master Vash – the Jedi we’re seeking in the M4-78 materials. Did you know that there are two voice actresses for the lines that appear in the game? When we first see and hear Master Vash, it’s an old video that T3-M4 plays of your Exile’s trial on Coruscant. The voice actress for Vash in this scene is Vanessa Marshall. Vanessa Marshall has played a number of parts over the years, including a few characters in the Extended Universe including: Master Bela Kiwiiks (from SWTOR), Hera Syndulla (from Star Wars: Rebels, Forces of Destiny, and Squadrons) and assorted characters in KotOR2. Here's an IMDB link to her CV. Here’s where things take a turn. Vanessa Marshall isn’t who we hear on the planet of M4-78 though. That completely different voice actress is Kath Soucie. In TSL, she played the sisters of the Last of the Handmaidens (a/k/a Brianna's sisters). In the Star Wars EU alone, she’s played the female Smuggler and minor characters in SWTOR, Mira Bridger and Minister Maketh Tua in Star Wars: Rebels, Mon Mothma from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon, the Nightsister in Star Wars Empire at War: Forces of Corruption, Mara Jade in Star Wars: Empire at War, and the list goes on and on with other non-Star Wars roles. Here's her IMDB link. The new points: Now there's a few things to consider . . . 1) Which Vash voice actor is canon? Personally, I have to say that the real voice actor is the one we hear in the vanilla game. That's the Vash they presumably intended to have all the way through and Vanessa Marshall's line didn't have to be restored. If you disagree, please comment below but read on for now. 2) There isn't enough information left in the game to describe what Vash's fate was to have been as the planet was cut early on in the development. So the character's fate is a mystery. 3) No one here is going to pay for Vanessa Marshall to redo Kath Soucie's lines. So what's the alternative? My thought is via AI models of the voice actress' lines. Have someone - say YouTube's SpeakingofAI - make a new model by providing all of Vanessa Marshall's lines from the game and providing addition material from other games and sources. But should anyone request this yet? I'd say no and here's why: The aforementioned mystery of Vash's fate (or fates) should be considered first. There are other points as well so let's quickly cover them. If she makes it off the planet, might she return to Jedi Enclave? If she does, what does she say during the Exile's trial that ties into the material that she's already discussed. And can she do so while both staying true to the overall themes of the game and not simply repeating what the other surviving Jedi Masters say? Is there a possibility where she makes it off the planet and doesn't return to the Enclave? Is there a way to do so while remaining true to the game's themes? And assuming Kaah lives, does he go with her to points on unknown? If she doesn't make it off the planet, does she have new dialogue? What would she say? As long as we have an AI model that can replicate Vash's voice. would new scenes be written and created to provide the player with a "breadcrumb trail" to let them know they're on the right track and to provide some exposition? I was planning to put these points in the documentary, but I think it's something that should be discussed now so I can judge the audience's reaction to it. I'm also curious to see how feasible you all think this may be. Finally, if anyone wants to bring up other possible uses for extending Vash's appearances or what her new unwritten dialogue might be, please drop your own suggestions or writing examples down below.

MOD AUTHOR: Sith Holocron ORIGINAL RELEASE: 27 NOV 2022 UPDATED RELEASE: 02 DEC 2022 FOR WHAT GAME: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords Description: Once again, I return to Peragus. Tonight, I was asking about a different legal screen that is included in the TSL games files but isn’t used. During that brief exchange, I showed off the legal screen that I use which is based on Trench’s desktop wall paper of the Peragus asteroid field. You’ve likely seen Trench's take on Peragus' exposed core in one of my other mods. By popular demand - that is entirely represented by Lewok, apparently - I now release it to the general public. The version for 16:9 widescreen settings can be found in the “16_9” folder. The version for 4:3 widescreen settings can be found in the “4_3” folder. As always, constructive criticism is welcome. Installation: For Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 - Extract the TGA file fitting your screen settings into the SWKotOR2/Override folder. Though I haven’t researched this part personally as I don’t use the Steam version of KotOR2, Effix offers the following information for Steam users: “If you're playing with the Steam version of "Widescreen UI (Stretch fix)" then you will need to remove or rename its Legal.tga. Location should be something like: [Path to Steam]\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\208580\639641660” To Uninstall: Take it out again. Known Bugs: None known at this time. Special Thanks: To Trench: For making that desktop wallpaper, oh so long ago. To Effix: For leaving the comment about the Steam user suggestion that I ruthlessly copied from. Legal Disclaimer: ------------------- All materials and copyrights belong to LucasArts, Bioware and Obsidian Entertainment Inc. I own none of the materials, and I'm not making any money out of this mod. It is to be distributed as-is without alteration, unless by permission of me. This mod is not to be distributed for profit, either. I hereby state that I specifically do NOT wish this mod to be uploaded to Steam Workshop. Ever. I may release this on NexusMods at a later date but I don't wish others to do so. Usage in other mods must be requested and approved by me before your use.

Such a small thing, but it can make all the difference in how the game feels. Thanks for making this!

I know this is completely redundant after so long, but the file was just a symptom of working in a Linux distro if I remember correctly. Had nothing to do with the mod itself.

Using GIMP, it asks some question that needs to have the box unchecked. Although GIMP 2.10 knows to orient the option from bottom-left, you're supposed to uncheck the box. As far as why this happens/what it is, not entirely sure. I never needed to know too much about it while using GIMP with KotOR or TSL.
